Can I wake up iTunes to play from a selected playlist on remote speakers (with a fade-in)?

Is there a way to get my MacBook or iPhone to use a selected playlist from itunes as a wake up alarm - ON REMOTE SPEAKERS? Loads of alarms start up with a selected playlist or song, but they play only on the computer or iPhone or plugged in speakers. I want to wake up to my remote speakers in the bedroom via the wireless AirPlay function. Any ideas would be welcome.

I have practically the same problem, but only with podcasts. From a smartlist having all my podcasts, autofill only puts two onto the shuffle. From a normal playlist, none. I can drag them all into the shuffle. I'm on an iBook with Panther, iTunes 6, September 2005 iPod updater.

No. The only option is to actually prevent the child from being able to physically touch the device i.e. lock the child, not the device.

  • Can users have one iTunes library deriving from two drives?

    Hi everyone,
I keep my 4 & 5 star songs on my C drive and the rest (all stars, 1,2 3, etc.) on my exhternal hard drive.
Whenever I want to listen to my music, all I can readily play are the tunes on my C drive.
I'm guessing the issues having one library for tunes stored on separate drives is insurmountable?
I say that because I'm guessing that my iPod (4th gen) is only capable of importing from one library?
I think the biggest issue is either I don't know how to (or maybe users can't) list a second drive so that iTunes can load all songs from both drives whenever I do have the second drive up and running.
Adding to the second drive library issue, I can't figure out how to permanently tag my external HD's (I've got 6) so that their drive letter is not automatically defaulting to their order of prescence.
I can deal with that issue by simply not opening iTunes while I the second drive has been assigned a drive letter other than what iTunes (hopefully) is set to (i.e.; hopefully C and F drives).
But can users have one iTunes library deriving from two drives?

Seems I've over come what is something I'd hoped/expected iTunes would be capable of (ie; reinitiating the pathway for external HD music files when their drive letter is the only thing that changed).
I tried the obvious by going to iTunes's Edit>Preferences>Advanced and clicking the change button for "iTunes Music folder location", then entered the current drive and pathway (as the drive is currently assigned, F as opposed to the original G) and of course iTunes still couldn;t find the missing tunes.
Giving up on the hope that iTunes was designed smarter than it is (ie; each and every single missing tune req's manual redirection of pathway, as opposed to a preferable tick box for something like 'use the last redirected pathway').
And I finally figured out how to properly changed drive letter assignments, but still uncertasin if that means permanently tags my EHD's with that drive letter.
For that to be permanent, maybe I need to name each drive regardless that Windows already has unique inforamtion on each HD. Suppose I'll soon find out if the drive at this point has fianlly stored its drive name and whether or not Windows will contiue to change the EHD drive letters simply by the order which I am introducing them to the os.
No real luck with rats nest USB hubs as they crash my os alot, so I'm left to trying to find an easy way of managing the EHD drive assignments. THe following is the closest I've yet to come to doing that:
Click Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management, and then in the left pane, under Storage, click Disk Management.
Right-click the drive, partition, logical drive, or volume for which you want to assign a drive letter, and then click Change Drive Letter and Paths.
    Click Change.
Click Assign the following drive letter (if it is not already selected), click the drive letter that you want to use, and then click OK.
Click Yes when you are prompted to confirm the drive letter change.
Again, too bad iTunes doesn't afford a 'find' feature for 'missing' files such that one might be afforded a tick box for 'do not prompt again, instead use the last indicated location for "iTunes Music" folder as the base storage location'.
This drive renaming thing is a real hassle. Not like somebody couldn't have guessed it and Windows and/or iTunes can't afford some script, etc. to better manage 'tagging' EHD's and/or re-locating 'missing' tunes.
But then what would we have to complain about, not that they listen anyway.

  • How can I listen to itunes and play a game at the same time on my ipad 4?

How can I listen to itunes and play a game at the same time on my ipad 4? This means I need to run 2 apps at the same time itunes and my game.  The game has its own sound control so I can turn off its sound while i listen to itunes tracks.  But I don't know how to set it up so the ipad does both.

Anytime you open an app that has a persistant sound stream - a movie, a podcast, some games - it will overide the music app's stream. nothiong you can do to change it.

How can I subscribe to itunes Match redeeming from itunes card instead of using credit card?

Do you have another device (eg a computer) that also contains your music? If so, yes, you can turn off iTunes match and sync everything with a cable. Do you tend to buy new music from downloads or ripping CDs? If downloads, you can turn on "download purchases automatically" on the phone to make them available to you there, once you've cable-synced your current library. If CDs, you would have to manually sync with cable (or over local wifi) each time you add a new CD.

  • How can I delete previously itunes synched photos from my ipad 3 now that I use the cloud instead of synching via mac/itunes?

how can I delete previously itunes synched photos from my ipad 3 now that I use the cloud instead of synching via mac/itunes?

You will need to connect your iPad to your computer, and on the Photos tab de-select those folders that you no longer want on the iPad - they can't be deleted directly on the iPad. If you no longer want any synced photos on your iPad then you can select and sync just an empty folder.

  • ITunes able to see but not connect to Remote Speakers

I currently have an issue with connecting to my remote speakers from my Intel Mini within my house.
The Mini is running OS X Server 10.5.6 with all updates, and the latest iTunes.
It is able to see the Remote Speakers, but on attempting to select them, it defaults back to "Computer"
If I play music, it will play with the attached speakers via the headphone jack.
The AP Express is at the other end of the house, joined to the wireless network and is able to be connected to from my MBP either cabled into the Time Capsule like the Mini or via Wireless on either the TC or Router.
Using the iPhone, its possible to select the Remote Speakers on the Mini but it won't play, however selecting the Remote Speakers on the MBP will allow it to play
See the below diagram for an overview of how things are setup.
The Mini has been rebooted, cables checked and I have repaired the permissions.
It is also able to connect into the AP Express via the Airport Utility and reconfigure the device.
    Any Ideas?

Same prob today while making some network changes... 1st thing i did was connect an old time machine drive to my airport extreme, then realized 70 GB should be transfered through USB cable instead of the network. In the same process was trying to implement an old NAS hard drive on the network through my Airport Extreme as well... so i made a few configuration changes and started uploading files through the USB cable in Time Machine... That is when i noticed the same problem everyone else is dealing with. It seemed like I had a very slow internet connection and some network congestion. I spent hours reconfiguring the Airport changes I had made and investigating this problem on line.
Here is the good news! I waited for the Time Machine backup to finish and I also removed the NAS drive from the network and it seems to be working again. Back to square one with the hard drives but my Airtunes work again and my network congestion is gone! I hope this helps some of you.

  • Can films bought from iTunes be played from a PS3?

I wondered if a film bought from the itunes store could be loaded to the PS3 (either via USB flash drive or by media server link) will play from a PS3. I just wondered if the files were compatible or protected to only work via iTunes or Apple TV?

I have virgin cable tv which has the iPlayer built into it's on demand interface which is great. I wish I could buy films online and then play them through my TV without having to purchase another piece of kit (ie the AppleTV). For the first time in my life I am actually envious of Microsoft Users. I have a mac and a PS3 because I love the elegance of their technology. However it seems all that elitist attitude has resulted in a barrier preventing this potentially lucrative partnering of the two machines/systems.
Mind you, the PS3 works brilliantly with Microsoft media servers and microsoft in manufacturing the XBOX have to be one of SONYs biggets rivals; so who knows what the future holds.

  • Can I copy music iTunes Music Folder from my external Hard drive to new PC?

not sure if this is possible but I copied my folders (documents/music/itunes/itunes music folder) from my local hard drive from laptop to my external (for backing up purposes) and now i have a new computer. can i just simply copy/paste this folder to my new computer and open itunes and it will be there. i know it's probably too easy but was hoping someone could help me out???? thanks.

You can by dragging them from itunes to your external drive this will copy them to it. Then do the opposite for from you drive to the new computer. Just make sure if you don't intend to keep the drive connected to your new computer. That you put copies of the songs in a folder on it before putting them on itunes or you have problems playing your songs.

  • Cannot get iTunes to play from ext. hard drive - desperate!

Please, please help. I have tried everything that I can think of. I have iTunes set to play from the XHD and it still won't (even tho it shows the XHD as the location of the file). I can't put new music on my iPod...because the new stuff went right into a new, totally wiped out version of iTunes on the hard drive. This is the only iTunes I can get to open. If I plug in my ipod, it will sync and get wiped out. HEEEEEEELLLLLLLP!

What kind of external drive? What are your system specs? What format is the media and do those clips play OK in Quicktime if opened from the Finder?
