  • Can you watch Blu-Ray?

I have a late 2009 27-inch iMac and a late 2011 15-inch MacBook Pro. Is there anyway to watch Blu-ray discs on either?

    Apple does not support blu-ray.
But you do have other options.
    1. Enable "Target Display Mode" on your late 2009 iMac and connect a blu-ray player using HMDI to mini-DP.
    2. Install Windows on your iMac, either via Bootcamp or Parallels/Fusion, attach blu-ray dive via USB, and play blu-ray using Windows software.
    3. There is now a blu-ray player for MacOSX that you can try with your external blu-ray drive.

  • Can I play blu-ray discs on a PowerMac G5?

If I install an internal Blu-Ray/dvd optical drive on my PowerMac G5, can I play blu ray discs without hacking the code.

    As Klaus1 said,
No I would not recomend you try to watch Blu Ray films on a G5 as the combo of Video and CPU hardware even in the fastest G5 does not the 'grunt' to decode and play Blu Ray films, also ALL internal Blu Ray drives are SATA so unless your G5 has SATA hard drive/ DVD controlers on board you need a plug in PCI card.
However if all you want to do is to be able to read/write Blu Ray data discs then as long as you have a SATA connecter free the G5 will be able to handle that - prob will not be able to multi-task at the same time !

  • Can I watch Blu-ray on my iPad? Need any programs?

I want to know is there any method allowing me to watch Blu-ray discs on my iPad...

Actually it is possible if your got internet connection and some programs such as iDeer Blu-ray Player. It has the "AirX" technology that can transfer the content of the blu-ray disc you watched on Mac/PC through Safari, of course to achieve this, you need a Blu-ray drive ( USB above 2.0 ). I don't know if there is any other method, but I tried this program and the AirX it contains, finding it works well and requires very simple user operation.

  • Can't play blu-ray disc

We have an Insignia NS-WBRDVD2 Blu-ray disc player.  Tonight we rented a Blu-ray disc and it wouldn't play.  We got the "WARNING, your Blu-ray Player requires an update in order to play this disc" red screen.
We updated the firmware, it rebooted and we still have the same red screen and inability to watch the movie.  The update screen now shows that no update is available since we just did an update.
Please advise how to fix this issue.

Just to give you more information on why nothing can be done.
Blu-Ray uses AACS keys to protect the content. Those AACS keys are updated with new keys in newer movies and manufactures update their players with the new keys. However in your case Insiginia is no longer providing updates for your player after December 2011 which means there is no way to get the new AACS keys for that player to play newer movies using those new keys.

  • How I can burn a Blu ray disc in my mac?

    Hello,
I´m worried cause I don´t know how burn a Bluy ray
But before, how can I do the menus?
    nickeditor

    You cannot use DVD SP to burn a Blu-Ray disc. But you can use the latest version of FCP to create Blu-Ray discs. There is a tutorial here;

    hi

to 100% . i use windvd to play bd.
    wery best regards
    hoffer

    >now i have reinstall windows 7 and all drivers - now when i play a blu-ray disc the sound is very very low.
How to understand this? According notebook specification your notebook was delivered with preinstalled WIN7 64BIT HOME PREMIUM. So I dont understand what have you done exactly. Have you reinstalled original recovery image? what was the difference in the past?
On my Satellite P500 (also with Harman/kardon speakers) I use Toshiba BD player version 8.0 DXVA B20.153. I have tested it 10 minutes ago and must say that sound could be a bit louder especially if there is no action and actors are just speaking but when there is a action the sound is OK. It could be a bit louder. Ive tested it with maximum sound level in player and Windows settings.

  • Can I watch Blu-ray movies on my MacBook Pro 17-inch?

If this is possible at all, I think there are two or three issues to be addressed.
First, I understand that to display Blu-ray movies, the display must be HDCP compliant. All I know is that mine has adequate resolution (1920 x 1200). I called AppleCare and they could not verify HDCP compliance; however, they also did not find any information explicitly stating that it is not. Does anyone know the answer to this, and if it is indeed required?
Second, I need an external Blu-ray drive that will work on a Mac with OS X 10.6.4. Ideally it would not require an external power supply. I've got a laptop, so the more portable the solution, the better.
Third, I'm guessing I'll need new software to play the movies on the disc, rather than the pre-installed software that plays regular DVDs. I would prefer a Mac software solution; however, I do have Windows running under Parallels Desktop 5. I am concerned that if I go with a Windows solution (such as PowerDVD 10 Deluxe) playback could be choppy given the dual demands of Blu-Ray HD and the Windows virtual machine it's running on.
    Any advice? Thanks.

Find an external blu-ray player for OS X. Apple has yet to support Blu-Ray in any way, shape, or form

  • Can i play blu ray discs on my mac

Some people tell me I can and some are saying I can not. I can't find it anywhere can someone help?

The built-in drive cannot read Blu-Ray.
The software that comes on your Mac cannot play them even if the drive could read them.
But a third-party solution to each part of the problem is available.

  • Watching Blu-Ray discs on 23"cinemaHD display?

Hello, I was wondering if it is possible to connect a blu-ray dvd player on my 23" cinema display, and if so, what type of player is required.
    Thank you for your input!

I have seen claims that the 23" will work, letter-boxed, with 1080p, but the Apple specs don't list it as a supported resolution.
HDCP may be more difficult. The whole purpose of HDCP is to not work on non-HDCP displays.
    This might help

  • Cannot play blu-ray discs on my Satellite A665-11Z

I reloaded my machine with windows 7 64bit the other day and since then I cannot play Blu-Ray movies anymore.
Before the reload, I could play the movies.
Is there any drivers for the DVD drive or how can one solve this issue?
I use WinDVD to play my blu-ray movies and the error is "Media not Supported"
    Thanks

Original Toshiba recovery image contains two players. One is for DVDs (Toshiba DVD player) and player for BR discs (WinDVD BD for Toshiba). You cannot use some WinDVD player for playing BR discs.
Are you 100% sure that you can use this player for BR discs?

  • Best Way to Play Blu-ray disc/Blu-ray ISO on Windows 8

Nowadays, almost any computer can play DVD movies as long as there is a DVD drive provided, whatever it's a PC or Mac, homemade DVD or commercial DVD. But what about Blu-ray movies? Could your Windows 8 PC play this high definition movie formats without fuss? How to play Blu-ray on PC with Windows 8 system? This article will tell you the best way for playing/watch Blu-ray discs or Blu-ray ISO Files on Windows 8.
In order to watch Blu-ray discs or BD ISO on Windows 8, you must have three things: 1) a Blu-ray disc drive, 2) a Blu-ray movie, and 3) Blu-ray Player Software(Need decrypting Blu-ray function). It is this third one – software – that causes the majority of problems for Blu-ray users. The free player like Windows Media Player, VLC Player, etc don't have Blu-ray decrypting function and not support playing Blu-ray movies. So this Blu-ray Player for Windows 8 from UFUSoft will be the best solution for you.
Follow the following steps to Play Blu-ray discs or Blu-ray ISO movie and media file on Windows 8:
Step 1: Connect the Blu-ray driver to your Windows 8 PC via a USB connection. The USB of the driver should be above 2.0.
Step 2: Free Download the Windows 8 Blu-ray Disc/Blu-ray ISO Player and then install it.
Step 3: Insert your Blu-ray disc into the Blu-ray driver. Next, open your Blu-ray movie by just pressing the “Open Disc” in the main interface to select Blu-ray drive and then click "OK" button to load the Blu-ray directly. You can now enjoy your Blu-ray movies on Windows 8 PC.
Another option is to load Blu-ray folder, you can click "Open File" button to directly select the Blu-ray folder and click "OK" button, now you can watch the Blu-ray movie on Windows 8 PC.
Step 4: Stop the playing the Blu-ray movie on Windows 8. If you want to stop playing the Blu-ray disc, you only need click Stop Button and eject the Blu-ray movie.
    Tips:
    1. When you want to play the Blu-ray ISO image file, you need to load Blu-ray ISO image file to the virtual drive firstly, the open method is the same with loading Blu-ray disc.
    2. While the video is playing, click the "Snapshot" button to take a picture from a video. Click Open Snapshot Folder to find the captured picture. You can choose the snapshot format and the snapshot folder in the Preference window. And also you can choose the image format like JPEG, PNG, BMP.
    3. When playing Blu-ray disc, you are allowed to choose the specific title/chapter in the "Controls > Title/Chapter" column to play.
Hope this way could help you have no problem to enjoy Blu-ray disc and Blu-ray ISO files on Windows 8, more info please enter: Play Blu-ray disc/Blu-ray ISO on Windows 8 PC.

I am sorry to say that you cannot play Blu-ray movies on any Mac. Whether any of us agree or disagree with this, it is the way of things currently. One can rip Blu-ray movies to a Mac, and play them without menus or extras, but this is illegal and it is a violation of the terms of use of these forums to discuss.

  • Blue Ray discs supported?

On my MacPro I have an OPTIARC DVD RW AD-7170A burner. Can I burn Blue Ray discs with it? Or there must be a particular burner for Blue Ray discs?
    Tnx

You can install a 3rd party blue ray drive in your mac but there is limited software for burning and you cannot play back blue ray movies under OSX. You can use windows under bootcamp to use some windows software for playback. There is a nice article on this issue on Macfixit:
