If you mean you do not want it to go to sleep while you are watching, download an app called "caffeine".

  • Can't watch TVshow/movie on mac(itunes) and switch video output to Apple TV

I just got my 2nd gen Apple TV, great product. From the website and the announcement I was to believe that you could be watching a movie/tv show on your mac (using itunes) and have the video automatically "pushed" to your TV by selecting the Apple TV within itunes (continuous play), like music does. I know you can go through the Computers Menu directly on the Apple TV to gain entry to the same content but I thought you could continually watch the show and switch the output to the Apple TV.
Maybe this only be applicable for iPod/iTouch/iPad devices when the new iOS is released with airplay? Or maybe this will become an available function for itunes on macs when they enhance airplay with the new ios? Or maybe I am missing something really basic.
    Let me know ....thanks

So will they provide an update to itunes at the same time as the new iOS release in November that will allow itunes on Mac to do the same thing
i don't recall that actually specifically being mentioned at any point, so where did you see that you could do that?

  • If I buy a TV series on Apple TV, can I watch it on my Mac? And vice versa?

I want to purchase a TV series. I wanted to make sure I would be able to watch it on all my devices. Also, is it better to purchase through itunes on the Mac or through Apple TV? Or does it even make a difference?
    Thanks

In theory it should not matter whether you purchase on AppleTV or Mac (except for rentals which made on AppleTV are for that only), so long as you use the same AppleID you should be able to transfer purchases via USB or play from the cloud on recent iOS devices.
Movies are not available in the cloud in most countries except USA.
In practice I would recommend purchasing in iTunes.
I've bought a few individual TV Show episodes on the AppleTV - some have then allowed a 'Complete my Season' in iTunes, others haven't even though the indiviudal episodes list as purchased.
My preference tends to be to buy and download and backup via iTunes - and then stream locally from itunes or the cloud to AppleTV.
I think it's wise to make a local copy and backup of a show in case it gets removed from iTunes Store and is no longer available in the cloud.  A bit of me is starting to think however that for the small number of shows you might lose the monetary value might be offset by the times and cost of backup media if you absolutely had to purchase the show again in itunes (season changed subtly and no longer available) or on optical media.

  • Please help me! I did a slideshow presentation in Powerpoint, then captured the end result in SnapzPro. Now what is the best way to burn this to a disc so that it can be watched on any pc / mac without losing quality? Its poor when I burn it via iDVD.

Its crucial to keep the quality as best as possible, as this is a portfolio of my professional photographs and graphic design projects. Is there any need to go through iMovie? I captured it as an Animation in SnapzPro, which is now in a Mpeg4 Quickmovie format.

    _Share" the highlight as suggested_
Thanks Lennart..... I'm not sure I know what you meant by the above.
Do you mean that I share the little clips I want to use in the 'best of project'?
I read the MacWorld article.... it's great thanks!
I want to keep all these converted movies on my hard drive because down the road I want to extract other clips from them so I can make a 'best of' movie for my other family members. I may want to do that next year.... or whatever..... so I want to have the imovies available for me when that time comes.
In order to do this am I going to have to buy a lot..... and I mean ALOT of extra hard drive space? That darn Canopus was really making files for me that were like 60-80GB's per one half hour movie!!
Hey, I really appreciate all the time you are spending with me on this topic. Making these imovie memories are so very important to me.

  • I have a Mac version 10.5.8 with Safari and I can't watch video's... I can download flash player but it won't work.

I can't watch video on my Mac version 10.5.8 with Safari.

    Could be Flash Player problem.
Two bugs, one affecting Apple's Mac platform and another attacking Microsoft's Windows, exploit certain Flash player vulnerabilities to install malware onto users' systems, reports ArsTechnica. While users of other operating systems like Linux have yet to report attacks, Adobe's advisory notes the exploit affects all platforms.
Designated as CVE-2013-0634, the first vulnerability targets the Safari and Firefox Web browsers running on OS X, and is also being used as a trojan to deploy Microsoft Word documents containing malware. For Mac users, the flaw affects Adobe Flash Player version 11.5.502.146 or earlier.
The Adobe Flash patch can be found on the company's website, and users can visit this page to check if their software is the most curent version.

Can I watch downloaded tv episode on my mac pro that I utilized to download this episode from itunes?

Have you downloaded the show onto your Mac ? If you have it should show in the TV Shows part of your library e.g. with the left-hand sidebar enabled (option-command-S ona Mac) and TV Shows ticked on the General tab in iTunes > Preferences (command-comma) so that the category shows in your library

    Mac OS X 10.6.8
    Quicktime player 10.0
Do I need to download Yosemite?

Mac OS X 10.6 includes QuickTime versions 10.0 and 7.6.3. The QuickTime 7 player will only be present if a QuickTime Pro key was present at the time of installation, or if specified as part of a custom install, or individually downloaded:

Snow Leopard update 10.6.4 included an update to 7.6.6 (if installed). You can install it from the above link  even though it says for 10.6.3. It's the same version of QuickTime Player 7.6.6.
(Only QuickTime Player 7.6.3 or 7.6.6 can be updated to "Pro".)
A Mac OS X v10.6, OS X Lion, and OS X Mountain Lion-compatible version of QuickTime Player 7 is available for use with older media or with AppleScript-based workflows. QuickTime Player 7 can be used to playback formats such as QTVR, interactive QuickTime Movies, and MIDI files. Also, it supports QuickTime 7 Pro registration codes for access to QuickTime Pro functionality.
