Can I work from multiple locations?
Can I bring the page down to another computer, that has iweb, to edit my website? I can't open the files from my home computer that I made from my work computer.

Suddenly my event library in iMovie 11 is empty. I have tried deleting the plist, importing clips from multiple locations (to see if they show up in the library), re-installing iMovie, and re-installing Mountain Lion.
I was working on a project, when all of a sudden the event library went blank. There are no devices showing in the left column, only "last import" and "aperture videos". There are no video clips in the editing window. I have "Show: All Clips" selected. I've tried "group events by disk".
When I have a Project open, it plays just fine. There are no yellow triangles saying "source clip is missing". Yet, again...nothing is in the event library large editing window. So, it seems the data is still there, but invisible. This is true with all the projects, and all the external devices I've experimented by plugging in to see if their video clips show up in the event library.
I have tried to import new movies, and iMovie responds as normal...looking like it's importing, then "generating thumbnails", then it makes the "ding" signalling that the import is complete...but nothing shows in the event library. I've tried importing movies from the harddrive, from quicktime, and from an external drive.
I have searched the forums, and found many users with a similar, but not the same, problem. For them, it seems the "go to users-library-preferences and delete iMovie plist" has solved their problem. This didn't work for me.
I uninstalled/reinstalled iMovie, I even have re-installed Mountain Lion (from a last-ditch effort suggestion from Apple technician).
HERE'S AN INTERESTING DETAIL: After almost 5 hours on the phone with Apple, I decided to cut my losses and take my project to another Mac I have. I'm working on a project, for work, that is critical that it's completed by tonight (whoops), and all my video is on an external drive. So, I plug in the external drive to Mac #2, open iMovie, and everything is looking fine. I continue importing some files I was converting, through Wondershare, and suddenly (whether or not this has to do with the importing, I'm not sure), the SAME THING happened to Mac #2!!!! I can't believe this.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Have you ever heard of this happening? Could it have to do with the files I'm importing???
I apologize if my language is confusing. Obviously, I'm not an Apple genius-person! I hope I've provided all the information you need.
Mac #1 is a 27" desktop, mid-2012, software up-to-date. Mac #2 is a 24" desktop, about 4 years old, OSX 10.7.5I'm adding more information:
in Finder, my iMovie folders are all visible and accessible. When I click on a clip from iMovie Events folder, Quicktime opens and plays the clip. ALL my video is not missing - it just isn't showing up in the Event Library!
This happened all of a sudden, while I was working on iMovie project (on both computers).
All my Projects are intact, and play when I open them. -
How to select photo's from multiple locations in Places view?
I want to select photos from multiple locations (close to eachother) in Places view (shift-P). I tried clicking to pins with cmd-click, but that did not work. They turn yellow, but that does not select the photos from that location.

Yellow pins select the photos from that location, whereas clicking the arrow on the balloon above the pin creates a filter for photos from that location.

Delete multiple files from multiple locations using config file
Hello All,
I am fairly new to .net and I have to make a windows application to delete files older than 90 days from multi ple locations. these multiple locations cant be hard coded and have to be configurable, also the number of days to delete the files have to be
configurable.
I think the answer to this would be an app.config file. but dont know how to use the same.
can anyone tell me about this and if possible help me out with a code snippet.?Add settings like picture below. Add the string by press the double dot icon.

I have a disability , can i work from home as an entry level programmer
i get anxiety , bad, in office settings, is it possible for me to work at home once i graduate school as a java programmer? i won't be able to work in an office i get claustrophobic. derek
The issue isn't whether a person can get work done at home (no problem), the real issue is whether a company will hire a new guy right out of college with no work experience to work at home. It seems really unlikely to me; most companies want you to at least start out at the office so you can learn their codebase and procedures around other, experienced co-workers.
One approach would be to develop a specialized and deep skill set. If you were one of the few programmers who really knew how to handle a particular problem, you might be able to get a job as a consultant. Actually I've seen that a lot; you come into the office once a month for meetings and the rest of the time you work remotely. The tricky part is just getting to that position right out of college.
Another thing you can do is try to get an office job, but select a job with an office you don't find so bad. A lot of offices are designed as just one huge room with a lot of desks (no cubicles). If a company likes you, they might have no trouble making special seating arrangements, or letting you work outside or something.
You might also be able to get pick-up work as a programmer and work from home. Again though you'd need to have a proven skill-set to start out with.
What's your graduate work about? Maybe you can use that.

Delete input from multiple locations
Hi,
I'm archiving log files to two locations. When I run RMAN script to backup arch logs and delete input, RMAN deletes one file from random (as I think) location. Please see the output below. Is there a way to delete input files from both locations or at least from one certain location?

How to setup a form that can be called from multiple reports

I want to be able to call the same form from several different reports. How can I set up the returning pages on the form with a variable so, after the form completes its activity, it will return to the calling page?

I keep track of my page history with a collection plus a few named application items.
On pageload, i push the current page number onto the top of the stack (unless it is already there due to a reload). So any page can return whence it came by branching to the item below the one on top. I have additional logic to recognize when you are traversing "backwards" so that I reduce the depth of the stack each time rather than adding to it indefinitely. For coding convenience, I keep the most recent 3 or 4 pages in named elements as well so that they can be directly addressed. So every page implemnts the Cancel function by redirecting to a page, where the pagenumber is in the application item &<MYAPP>_PAGELAST.
This is handy for many reasons, I find it more practical than breadcrumbs if you have pages that can be invoked from many places in your application. And this saves you from submitting the current page before executing the branch which saves time and is safer (no need to remember not to update the database!).
I normally add links to various master record display pages from within my reports, and the technique described above is perfect for that, because you can link from one page to another and another and then cancel, cancel, cancel your way back. I can post the source code if you think it might be useful.
I am curious to know how you are using your form from within reports. Does it act as some soft of common subroutine to the reports, or is it just a display page for data common to many reports?

Is there a way i can recover work from FCP 10 trial?
I recently purchased FCP 10, but I did a project on the trial version and have footage that I need but the trial has expired. Is there anyway I can recover it from the purchased version?
Do you still have the trial version? What version of the software was it? Some countries, until recently, still were giving an older version as the trial version. The current version is 10.1.1. If your trial version was 10.0.8 or 10.0.9, when you open the current version you will have to update the projects and events from the File menu.

Synchronize work from multiple threads using wait() and notifyAll() help

My current project handles multiple access requests to a shared collection from multiple threads originating from different classess and methods. Therefor I need to keep track of the order in which the Threads access that collection. I wrote a sort of Buffer class that has a static instance entry which initiate a new Instance of my Buffer class, attributes the instance a cue number and return the instance to the caller Thread.(Just like when you go to a supermarket and draw a number to wait to get served at the cheese counter).The callerThread then uses this instance to execute a method within the buffer class. Inside the buffer class method, I want to set a while loop on wait() just like this:

when all other prior method calls within my Buffer class are done, the loop should wake up using a notifyAll() call and check the condition "currentCue != myCueState" agen to see if its turn has come.
I am new to the wait() and notifyAll() stuff and are therefor not sure what I am dooing wrong here: The only way this buffer class finishes all it's cues is when the caller Threads are beeing executed in the same order than they have checked in to the Buffer class. Otherwise I get some sort of dead-lock in the middle. Here is my code for the Buffer class:

How can I send from multiple email aliases & names?
Hi, I wish to achieve the same result as the OP at http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=112689 and by following the useful guides in that thread, am able to achieve what I want... sort of.
Basically, I have one POP account/mailbox, and only one.
However, I use 3 email aliases for different work purposes, e.g.:
Fred Blogs <[email protected]>
Dr F Blogs <[email protected]>
The Surgery <[email protected]>
Now, according to the advice, in Mail I can create one Mailbox, and under 'email address' in Mailbox Preferences, enter:
[email protected], [email protected], [email protected]
This works fine as far as it goes, and I get a drop down when creating new mail, however, all 3 'aliases' come from the same person's 'Name' - the 1 name I entered in the mailbox preferences in Mail.
No, what I need to achieve is to be able to send email from the 3 different names as well as email addresses, not just 3 different email addresses all with the same name.
This was a doddle under Outlook, you just create 3 accounts with the same SMTP server, but set 2 of them not to receive email (otherwise you'd end up with 3 lots of each incoming email from that 1 shared mailbox).
Mail however is not having any of it, and won't let me create duplicate accounts. I have even tried adding the full name in the email address field of settings, separated by commas: Fred Blogs <[email protected]>, Dr F Blogs <[email protected]>, The Surgery <[email protected]>. That didn't work either.
How can I achieve what used to be quite a simple process on my PC? I can't be the only person who uses one unified mailbox account, but sends from different aliases?

Because I am using the same Incoming Mail Server and User Name as the 1st account, when I click Continue it reports:

It then won't let me continue. Now it sounds like you have the same setup, so do you have the same hostname and username in all your multiple accounts? :-S
The reason it does this is - I suspect - because even if you untick 'Include when automatically checking for new mail', when you manually check for new mail, you'd still get 3 lots of the same message. How do you get around this? -
Can I work from external hard drive?
I have a client with a current non-Intel PowerBook and ready to go for Final Cut Studio. Can any of the 40 gigabytes of installed data be moved to an external drive, deleted from the PowerBook and accessed from the external drive?

I have not tried exactly what you want to do, but when I worked with an external hard drive, I had some conflicts. However, I was using it to edit projects within FCP. The problems occured when I was trying to playback to a DV deck. Just an f.y.i. good luck with what you are going to do

Controlling the same output from multiple locations in vi

I have a very basic question which I do not seem to find the answer to though.
When programming a VI for measurement and control using a standard DAQ device, for example 6281 I
often want to control the same digital out pin from various places in the program.
F.ex. In the beginning I want P0,0 to be high, then later somewhere deep in the program in a while loop I want
to set P0,0 to low. How do I do this. I keep getting the message that the resource is reserved.
This I have the same question with AI, AO and Digital in.
The DAQassistant does not work and doing this more manually by creating a task, stopping it and clearing it has been problematic.
Can anyone help? Hopefully with a demonstration VI if you have it?

In the following image I have some code that should work.
It looks up the addressed port and creates a new task if needed, otherwise it will call the old task.
Be sure to call this VI with 'Stop?'=True at the end of your program.

Workflow for Posting from Multiple Locations
Workflow from work and home:
Does anyone have a preferred workflow to suggest for me. I do most webwork from the workplace but also need to do some postings remotely from my home computer (I have DW on both). Is it useful (or possible) to maintain two local sites, one at work and one at home? Or should I just pull down the files needed to do postings from home (and later getting/downloading the updated pages from the remote site at work)?
Web version of DW on the horizon?
On another, but relevant topic, is there any future prospect of a web version of Dreamweaver that a user could log into? This would simplify remote postings when working on computers where DW is not available. If this subscription service were available it would be very useful.

That's how I have worked for several years. Full copy of site at home and work. Check out files, edit then check back in. Enabling Check In/Check Out in DW is important for version control.

No-one here can answer that with any accuracy. Only Adobe and its testers who are bound to Non-Disclosure Agreements.
If DW is not available, there are other options including Adobe ICE:

I encount a challenging mapping, which invloves many "cross dimensional mappings" and "logic account".
For maintenance purpose, it is better to converse the data souce twice instead of writing line by line scripts in maploader.
Can I take the validated reuslt from LocationA as an input for LocationB without user knowing. That's means user only need to import the file once , then click validation, and click export as usual.Hi,
How do you want to import data in Location B... transparent to user? or do you want the user to import it manually?
Option A: you can create a batch file with file exported from Location A and run batch loader
Option B: you can copy export file to inbox folder of Location B and then the user can find the file
