Can Icloud sync with google calendar and gmail?

We use google calendar at my office and share it with our staff. I thought we would be able to sync those calendars with icloud and google. Before icloud, I set up an exchange account on Ipad, iphone, imac and it works well for calendar and email.  I thought I could replace that sync with icloud, but it seems to not be designed that way. Should google calendar and gmail users stick with google?

THANK YOU ithos!
I have searched and searched to try and find a way to sync my Google calendars with iCloud.
You don't exactly say how to make this happen, but you gave me enough nuggets to put it together.  Thank you for responding and helping me put it all together.
I have 5 Google calendars (Family, Work, Church, Extended Family Birthdays, US Holidays).  My wife, two different assistants and I all share and update the calendars.  I want all this to continue since it affects every aspect of my life.  I sit at a PC at work and need to be able to view all those calendars during the work week, I also need to be able to view and edit from work (pc), iPhone, wife's iPhone, assistants computers, and our home (mac).  So, staying Google - for now, is what I need.
I just upgraded to the 4S and Siri is one of the main reasons.  Without iCloud syncing with my calendars Siri is USELESS with calendaring stuff.  So, I have to have Siri able to view my calendars as well.
So, with that info, here's how I got it all to work.
For those of you who need a start to finish explanation, here it is:
1. Computer running the OS Lion (mine's an iMac)
2. Open iCal on the Mac
3. Open your Google Calendar
4. In iCal go to iCal --> Preferences --> Accounts.
Make sure iCloud is listed under Accounts.  This was my default, so I didn't have to make any changes.  If yours lists something different, sorry.  I don't know how to change it.  But I believe this is a KEY component as ithos above mentions that the subscription be 'located' on iCloud.
5. In iCal go to Calendar --> Subscribe
This will force a pop up asking you for the URL of the calendar you are trying to subscribe to.
Where do you find this URL?    I found this article from 2006 that gives the low down:
http://www.tuaw.com/2006/04/13/howto-subscribe-to-a-google-calendar-using-ical/
Don't worry, even though it's from 2006 it still works.  Here are the steps in a nutshell, but you should read the short article so you don't miss anything.
6. In Google Calendar you need to dig into EACH calendar that you want to 'Subscribe to' and find the unique URL for that calendar.  This will allow you to then force iCal to look at and scrape the data from this calendar as often as every 5 minutes.  As you follow the articles steps (they are very easy) then your iCal calendar will populate with the Google calendar data from the calendar you subscribed to.  I had to do this for EACH calendar I wanted to show up on my iCal calendar.
7.  I then grabbed my iPhone and asked Siri, "What does my day look like tomorrow?"  She responded with all my iCal / iCloud (which are all subscribed to my Google calendars) calendar data.  I smiled
This ONLY allows the Google info to be pushed to iCal / iCloud.  It doesn't allow the info to go the other way.
It won't let Siri manipulate the iCal/iCloud calendar or the Google calendar.  But at least Siri can see what's already there.  So, a step in the right direction.
Good luck!

Have been using BusyCal app (a paid app), in order to handle this bridge and have the ability to "publish" my syncing Google Calendar to a website...  Anyone know if iCal (thru iCloud) now gets along with Google calendar (MULTIPLE 8+ sub-calendars) to keep events syncing?.... Don't want to upgrade to OS until I find out that my BusyCal has been replaced with a reliable replacement...

I am trying to sync iCal with Google Calendar using this recipe:

However, once I have entered my Google calendar info, I only get an exclamation point beside the calendar name of the calendar I just created.
I get no error message, nothing, just an exclamation point.
    Any idea what's wrong?

Just tried creating a brand new Google-account, but I get the same error when I try to sync it with iCal ...
... which leads me to believe this is an iCal-error?

  • Can iCloud sync with yahoo calendar/?

trying to sync yahoo contacts and address book with IPhone thru the cloud.  Had MobileMe with no problem.  Any suggestions?

After experiencing the same problem and doing a little research, I found out that this is a Yahoo problem, and not an iCloud problem.  Yahoo is aware of the synching issue and is working on it.  FYI....after 5 days of no luck, my events and notes JUST reappeared on my iPhone and iPad, so be patient.
It may help to delete the yahoo acct on your phone/ipad and then reinstall.  If you go to Yahoo support and type in Calendar, you will get the message about them working on fixing this problem.

  • Sync issues with Google Calendar and e-mail alerts

    Hello,
I'm experiencing a lot of problems with iCal while I'm trying to sync it with Google Calendar. I have correctly inserted my Google account information into iCal, but:
    when I create a new event and I disable the e-mail alert and save it, it automatically turns on the e-mail alert! Is there a way to disable by default all alerts? I have already tried to go to Settings - Advanced and select “Disable all alerts” with no result;
all the events I create into iCal are correctly synced with Google Calendar and I can correctly read them on the web app, but in my android device they don't have the time information (they are listed as all-day events)

GooSync would do the trick - http://www.goosync.com/
Plz be aware that Goosync nor Google Contacts supports all field from your phone so it is not an 100% backup unfortunately

  • Calendar Invitations Using iCal Synced with Google Calendar via Exchange

I have a very complicated system set up for syncing multiple calendars. I use CompanionLink to sync my work Lotus Notes calendar to iCal. I then sync my Google Calendar and my husband's Google Calendar to iCal via Exchange. I've recently added the iCal step as a way to get push notifications. That's the only reason I've gone to iCal as I have CalenGoo on my iPhone and it's been working great up to now. However, the only notifications it can do are through email. I have 2 questions.
First - using the iCal program on the iPhone, I tried to invite attendees for a meeting. No invitations were sent. Is there something that has to be set up to make this happen? Also, is it supposed to be sending them through Google or through my own email (mobileme is the primary email account on this phone)?
Second - Is it possible to mark events as Private or Public? I don't want personal events to show up in my work calendar so that others can view them.
    Thanks!

I am having the exact same problem with my ipad 2. Hope someone can help....

  • Palm Pre no longer syncing with Google Calendar

I've had my Pre for 4-5 weeks, and when I first got it, I configured the calendar to sync with my Google calendar.  Everything worked fine.  At some point, it stopped syncing.  If I add something to the calendar through Google, I don't see it on my Pre and if I add an event on the Pre, it never shows up on Google.  Obviously I tried the sync now option to no avail.  I'm not sure if this happened around the V1.1.0 update or not.  Is anyone else having issues syncing with Google Calendar?
    Thx,

    Hello Bartman,
You may want to try removing and re-adding the gmail account to the Pre.  If this doesn't work, try creating a test gmail account and add it to the Pre.  This will tell you if it is your email account or the Palm Pre.
    Let us know what happens....
    Thanks,

  • Deleting event in iCal 5.0.1 not syncing with Google Calendar

When I delete an event from iCal, it does not sync with Google Calendar.  However, when I create an event in iCal, it syncs just fine with Google Calendar. Creating and deleting events from Google Calendar syncs fine with iCal.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?

12/13/2011 - call to google tech support
Recent support call with Google: iCal deleting events still broken.  this is big for us.  We have users that have accounts for and/or subscribe to multiple calendars, and took a while to teach them to use iCal, so web based calendars will be foreign to them (even though I like the web based).  There is no timeline in place according to Google Tech Support.  I feel like the issue is really Apple's issue, so Google is waiting on them to fix, this type of urgency(or lack of) is right up their alley.  Oh well.
Does anyone have any suggestions on alternate calendar apps for Mac?  Specifically for google calendars?

  • IPhone will no longer sync with Google calendar

3 days ago my IPhone 4 stopped syncing with Google Calendar. I'm not aware of making any changes. I've done homework & and followed these steps:
-- Synced with ITunes: not syncing with ICloud; not syncing calendar
-- redone the Google Mobile setup procedure for my IPhone
-- limited my IPhone Calendar choices to only Google, i.e nothing checked for "All on my IPhone"
-- Set the time zone to Houston
Nothing doing. There are other folks with this problem, but 1 or more of the above worked for them...
Any ideas? I sure appreciate any help.

After installing iPhone 3.0 and iTunes 8.2 several weeks ago, my Outlook calendar sync stopped working. I have tried every hint or trick I could find to no avail. The iTunes SW never reports errors, and I cannot determine just where the SW problem exists. I have cleared my iPhone contents and performed a restore/reset from iTunes. I re-installed iTunes several times, including the latest version (8.2.1.6) today, but nothing works. I spoke with an Apple Expert with no success; pleasant and empathetic, but with no troubleshooting skills. He suggested a replacement iPhone, which makes little sense to me.
I have a colleague at work whose Outlook calendar sync also stopped working after installing the latest SW. Does anyone have insight in this situation?

  • I'm having problems with syncing my iphone 4s calendar with google calendar.  google calendar will sync with phone but phone calendar won't sync with google calendar.

I can't get my iphone 4s calendar to sync with google calendar.  I can sync the other way i.e from google to iphone.  Does anyone know how to fix this?

You need to transfer your iTunes library from your old computer to your new computer per the instructions included with this link.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751
If you don't do this per the instructions included with the link, all iTunes content on your iPhone will be erased with the first sync. If you haven't transferred photos from your old computer to your new, any photos on your iPhone that were transferred from your previous computer will be erased when selecting to transfer any photos from your new computer.
Not sure how cancelling a sync with iTunes and importing photos/videos from the Camera Roll with iPhoto could have an effect on your GPS reception and location services.

  • Syncing with Google calendars

I recently setup my iPod Touch to sync with Google calendars. What I am trying to do is get the calendars on my iPod Touch calendar. It is currently not syncing with my iPod. When I create an event on the iPod calendar, it does sync with the Google calendar and vice versa. But what I have done is downloaded the Detroit Red Wings schedule to my computer and it synced with the Google calendar, but not with my iPod calendar. Can anyone assist me with this? When syncing my iPod Touch with my computer, it says that the calendars are synced over the air using MS Exchange.

I also have the same issue. I have added a lot of calendars to my Google Calendar, however, none of them ever gets transferred to my Ipod touch. Only the events that I create. Not sure if getting other calendar information is even possilbe.

  • Syncing with Google Calendar

Hi - I can use some help with Google Calendar syncing with my iPod Touch.
I set up my iPod to sync with Google for Contacts and Calendar. The Contacts sync works perfectly. But when I sync with Google Calendar, the iPod only receives the last six months of events. I have years worth of past events that I want to put on the iPod. I checked the iPod's Mail, Contacts, Calendars screen and I do have the Calendar sync set for All Events, not just the past six months. But it's either ignoring that setting, or there's some bug or limitation with Google or the iPod sync.
Also, if I manually enter a new event within the past six months on either the iPod or in Google Calendar, it does synchronize. But if I manually enter an event prior to six months ago on one or the other, it will not sync.
Has anyone else run into this issue? Any ways to resolve it?
    Thank you.

    Hello, Welcome to Apple Discussions.
I am guessing you setup the http://www.google.com/mobile/apple/sync.html
Please keep in mind that this service is still in Beta. So you may find that certain features do and do not work as you are experiencing. You may find some additional settings options for google calendars at
