Can icloud transfer office documents instead of iworks

Hello,
I notice that iCloud only seems to transfer iWorks documents, at least that's what all the propaganda says. But I don't use iWorks, I use Microsoft Office (in Windows 7 using Parallels Desktop, but all the files are saved in the Mac Documents directory, not in Windows). Can iCloud be configured to backup office docs instead?
Thanks,
David.

Thanks ClayG and OrangeMarlin,
That's pretty much what I thought. I did trial iWorks and concluded that it's not good enough for me to fork out money to buy it after only buying Office 2010 10 months ago, and frankly I think Office is better... So I'lll just have to use some other method of sync. What a shame, you'd think iCloud would support Office docs considering Office is available for Mac anyway (although I use the Windows version).
David.

  • How to transfer office documents from computer to WP7

This is a seemingly simple task yet I have yet to find a way to do it. How do I transfer Office documents--Word, Excel, PDF, etc., to and from my Trophy? No options to do so in Zune, nor Office.

You can easily sync Office docs to WP7 via SkyDrive but it does require the Mango update.

Can you set up document folders in iwork?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
If you mean folders for iWork in iCloud, yes, just drag one document on another to create a folder.

  • Can't open Office documents from network share

    Dear,
I have a user named X that can't open Office documents from two specific shares. We call this shares T and U.
When the user X opens Office documents the error message is "...xlsx can't be opened". The problem is not client specific because when I login on the same client I can open the documents without any problem. If you copy the file to your desktop it
    opens fine.
    Any idea?

    Anybody?
We have a problem with a customer that they can't open Office documents(Word,Excel etc.) on Windows 8 image on a network share. The error message is just that they can't open the document. The documents are on a sharepoint site and we can open the documents
within the site and also we can open the Office documents on a Windows 7 image.
I think there is a group policy for Windows 8 for this but I don't know for sure?
    Anybody?

We have a problem with a customer that they can't open Office documents(Word,Excel etc.) on Windows 8.1 image on a network share. The error message is just that the document can't open.
The documents are on a sharepoint site and we can open the documents within the site and also we can open the Office documents on a Windows 7 image from the networkshares.
Also can't open the documents if i copy them to the local desktop.

    Hi,
As I understand, the issue is that customers can’t open office documents on windows 8.1 on a network share or copying them to the local desktop.
Per my test, I can open documents on windows 8.1 on a network share.
    1. By default, Word doesn't trust files in temp directories from your browser. You can add the
network address and local address to the trusted list. From Word 2010/2013: Click File > Word Options > Trust Center->trust center setting->add new location.
    2. You can create a shortcut on the desktop using the network address and then open the documents by that way.
    3. To narrow down the research scope that you can create a new document library->Download a problematic file (an Excel workbook or a word document) to your local->Upload the local file to the new document library->do the same option to check if
    the same situation will occur.
    There is a similar case:

    Hi Sara Fan,
    Thanks for your reply.
I have added the profile to the trusted locations but without success. Also a shortcut is not working. I still can't open any Office document on that location(Error message: location ***.xxxx can't be opened). The problem occurs on every client.
    1. Opening Office documents under local administrator account, domain admin account is working fine
    2. Re-image the machine is not a solution
    4. All locations use the same Windows 8.1 image through SCCM
    3. When the user logon to another location(site) it's working fine and they can open Office documents so it seems site-specific
    4. The problem is specific from 2 sharepoint shares. We can open office documents from other shares.
    5. Can't open Office documents from the library on the sharepoint site(browser), but on another location it's working fine.
Problem only occurs on Windows 8.1 image with domain users. Other locations of this company do not have the problem. Note, every location have their own OU for users/clients.
    Any other suggestions?

  • Can i transfer office form old macbook to new macbook

how or can i transfer office to a new macbook from an old macbook

    Hi Rsteshetz,
Yes, you can transfer MS Office to the new macbook if you are restoring the new macbook from a backup and it would not require you to enter the serial numnber again. However, if you're not restoring from a backup and do a brand new Office install, it will then ask for the serial number again. If this is the case, then you technically are not allowed to use the same serial number on more than one computer unless you have purchased a volume license through MS.

  • Can I transfer a document from my MacBook Pro to my Iphone 4s when WIFI is unavailable?

I thought Bluetooth was the solution but the pair won't complete and I've read here that Iphone supports only blue tooth for headsets, not a computer connection.
I will be on a train and would like to revise document unsing MBP, then email it to someone using the 4s.  Without Wifi or a personal hot spot setup or some other way to access 3G on the computer, I thought I could get the document to the phone and then email it.  But I can't do it with bluetooth and there is no way to connect a flashdrive . .. or is there?
    Thanks for any ideas!

Connect the iPhone to your MPB via the USB cable, then transfer the document via iTunes (bottom of the Apps tab). Depending on the document type and the apps you have available to open and edit that document, there will probably then be an option in the app to email the document.
    Regards.

  • Can I transfer a document created in Notes to another IOS device?

I've created several documents in the Notes app.  Can I transfer these to another user/IOS device?  I've looked in the file sharing area of iTunes, but don't see it there.

If it is not possible is it any substitute to email it, copy and then paste in Notes, or better still, paste it into another document type which is more versatile?

  • How can i transfer a document folder to iCloud?

i read several posts that said to create a my icould doc in mobile docs under library and then drag this folder to favorites. but i can t drag it over there

If you CREATE an iWork document on the iPad or iPhone (with the documents sync enabled on that device) it will immedatly appear on iCloud and all other iPads and iPhones sharing that iCloud account.  To get the document into your MacBook, you have to log into iCloud, click on the document, and select "download".  You can then open it on the MacBook and edit it.
If you want to put it back to iCloud, you have to save it, then physically drag and drop the file to the iCloud window in Safari.  This will upload it, but nothing can be done with it at iCloud.com yet.  It is now simply avaialble to be opened on your iPhone or iPad.  Once you open it on one of those devices, and then close/save it, it will be available on iCloud.com for viewing or editing.

    You could also:
    Buy Office for Mac
    About $100 to get
Buy Pages, Numbers and Keynote from the Mac App Store application
Pages cots $20 and is a counterpart to Word
Numbers costs $20 and is a counterpart to Excel
Keynote is also $20 and is a counterpart to PowerPoint
They can open, edit adn export to XLSX, PPTX, DOCX, etc...
Some custom formatting won't be compatible, but that is marginal, vast majority of the file content will be just fine in these three apps.
Excel macro's won't run, neither will Excel scripts (VBA), Pages, Numbers and Keynote require the document to be saved and then exported to the MS Office format, adding lots of keystrokes to a simple save, formatting in Word translates poorly to Pages, etc etc etc. The OP would be better off with one of the free suites, or MS Office if not. Just about anything is better than iWorks if MS Office compatibility is required.

  • Can't open saved documents in any iwork program?

I can create and save new documents, spreadsheets, slideshows, etc. but I can't access them after I've closed them.

    Thanks for letting us know!
Now how about letting us know more about what you have installed on your Mac so we can actually give some advice.
eg What version of iWork, and how did you buy and install it and what version of OSX?
What exactly happens when you "can't access" them?

  • How to open Office documents

The iPhone Mail program can open MS Office documents, and also iWork documents. I'm pretty sure I was able to do the same in the fourth beta, using a UIWebView. It might have been really late at night and a lot of tiredness involved though, so I can be wrong.
Any way, is there a way to open Office documents and/or iWork documents, just like Mail do? UIWebView doesn't complain when I give it an office document to load (it does when I try to load e.g. an .rtf or .psd file), but I just get a blank page. Isn't that strange?

Aha, your right, Office documents will only render on the device, not the on the simulator. I wonder why though...
