Can Imessage be hacked?

So, this is going to sound strange, the fact that it even happend is even stranger! but okay, so I had been texting the same person all day, and I had recieved a text so as usual I open up imessage to read it, and I notice that there was an unknown number sitting in my inbox, which it was not there before, I know for a fact it was not there, cause like I said im in and out of Imessage all day long. So I open it to read what it contains, and it was saying that I sent this number a picture, and a text at 9:30 PM. I know for a fact no one else had my phone because I was texting someone at that time. But what Im getting at here is I dont even know that number, I don't even have the picture that was sent saved to my phone anywhere, and the text that was sent, I most certainly don't text like that. I wrote on FB explaining what happened, and a friend of mine told me that Iphones can be hacked and to reset my phone. So I did immeadeatly. Im just wondering, has this happened to anyone else?
thanks.

Thanks for your response. My daughter was using the iPad which is linked in to my account, however she is 8 and doesn't know this type of language so she definitely didn't write it.  We thought maybe predictive text changed the words but they wouldn't suggest these types of words. Looking at search history she hasn't been on any pages where it might have been copied and pasted. It's very strange.
We have disabled iMessage on the iPad now.

  • Can Apple Employees hack my iCloud/iMessage/iTunes/Private Apps/Photo Sharing?

Can Apple Employees hack my iCloud/iMessage/iTunes/Private Apps/Photo Sharing? I was recently in the Apple Store and was asked for my Apple Id/password, and to enter it onto the stores iPad. Coincidently, my email associated with my Apple ID was hacked, and numerous times a day I will be asked for my Apple ID password for iMessage and iCloud. I finally changed my email and password for APPLE ID and now literally every 45 seconds a screen for iCloud pops up. What can be accessed using my iTunes account? I had personal and private data including bank accounts, photos, location enabled GPS for most apps. Is it possible that an Apple employee (with good reason) could get a hold of this information??

We have become familiar faces since I go into the Apple Store and we know some of the same people through mutual friends. Everything I know about her she has told me, and mostly just innocent conversation at the apple store. I'm not going to report someone is stalking me if I dont know for a FACT that she is stalking me. It didnt catch my attention until a few friends who don't know her, just the situation started noticing it. I changed my apple ID so hopefully it stops, but like I said - it came to the point of being too frequent to be a coincidence. I guess re-routing back to my original question ....... Can an Apple Employee hack into my account and download the apps under my Apple ID and use my iMessage, iCloud, ect.... I don't understand why it is such a secret! its either a yes or no question. I don't feel comfortable knowing that I have had devices (not my own) that have been granted permission for iMessage (I received the notification on my ipad that another ipad had turned on imessage under my apple ID), and at the time I was not aware that someone would desire the need to log into my account to read my imessages - or could actually do it? I'm very very secretive about passwords, and would not even write on the forum about this if I didn't think it were possible. I appreciate all of your responses, I truely do but this has been going on since before March when I first created the post so understandably its been on the back of my mind for quite some time!

  • TS4268 iPhone users can no longer send me text messages now that i've moved to a non-iOS phone. Can iMessage service or Message users be refreshed to see me as a normal text message recipient?

iPhone users can no longer send me text messages now that i've moved to a non-iOS phone. Can iMessage service or Message users be refreshed to see me as a normal text message recipient?
I still have an iPhone, but haven't turned it on for weeks. And there's no SIM in it, so no cell service, just WiFi.  When I turn it on after a prolonged period of having it off (weeks), a bunch of messages popup that should have been forwarded to my new phone (same phone number and carrier as when I was an iPhone user) but appear to sit in iMessage queue indefinitely instead.
I'm guessing it has to do with the link that's made when an iPhone first realizes that it's talking to another iPhone and defaults, for all future texts, to iMessage.  You know, the green to blue switch.  How does that association get undone?
Has anyone else seen this, and if so, is there a fix?

your number can remain on the imessage server for some time

Knowing that when I turn On my Macpro, the Apple logo appeares late and always when Im connected to the WiFi It notifys me that there is someone using my IP address!!

You aren't being hacked. Your wireless network is probably misconfigured and/or hacked. Turn on WPA security and then reboot it.

  • Can iMessages be password protected

Can iMessage be password protected without locking the device?

It would be helpful if we could lock apps, like texting  photos and mail, if we share our devices.
IMO they should consider it because.it makes you not want to share, and Apple loses an opportunity to sell their products to new customers. I've ' sold' 6 iPads to people  who used mine and had to get one for themselves.
    It's called good marketing skills.

  • Imessage stopped working for one of my contacts but they can imessage me

i have an iphone and theres one person i txt alot. our conversations were all imessages because they have an iphone as well but recently i cant imessage them. they can imessage me but in order for me to txt them i have to send an imessage that never appears as delivered, double tap the message, and sent it as a text. this is really frustrating please help. ive tried resetting my phone, my network setting, turning imessage on and off, but nothing works.

Tried all of the things mentioned, but still won't work. I've tried logging in/out of iMessage and Facetime, resetting the network, changing DNS to 8.8.8.8, forgetting the network setting and resetting... even did a factory reset. Facetime will work, but if I click on the 'message' button in Facetime or go directly through iMessage, I get the red exclamation point no matter who I try to iMessage??? The 'send' button is grayed out too. This is an iPod, so it is using Wifi which I know is connected to the internet and functional and because she can surf the web. It also is current on updates.

  • Can iMessage be used with non iOS 5 users, ie non-apple users. My new i-pad 2 error message says these contacts are not recognized by imessage when I try to text some of these contacts.

Can iMessage be used with non iOS 5 users, ie non-apple users?
My new i-pad 2 error message says these contacts are not recognized by imessage when I try to send them a text.

So that means that I can send text messages through my i-phone to reach non iOS 5 users, but not through my i-pad 2.

  • Can imessage be used internationally?

Can iMessage be used internationally?  If you are on an wi fi network in a foreign country, can you send another iOS device an iMessage for free?

@roadrunner202 Once you're roaming, and are using data, you can use it but that's a little costly so I'd suggest using it while on the ship's WiFi.
Here in Bahamas, we do have a few WiFi hotspots but they're not that common.  You could also look into having your iPhone unlocked for international carriers and use a BTC SIM card instead since data's fairly cheap at $3 a day or $10 a week.

I have a brand new iphone 5.. I can imessage and receive texts but can't reply or send new ones.  Any ideas?

You can check this support document regarding troubleshooting Messages http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2755
However, SMS is a carrier function. You say that iMessage is working, so I would contact the carrier since it is SMS is not working.

  • Today my boyfriend said I was imessaging him while at work, how can someone possibly hack into my apple id?

I got home today and my boyfriend said someone was messaging him from my itouch through imessage, I checked and someone was actually texting him through my itouch! I asked around the house if someone has gona to my to use it but everyone is usually not home and I actually have a passcode on my itouch so its pretty impossible for someone to get into it. I'm wondering if its possible for someone to hack through my apple id and start using it? This is really worryin gme

Any device signed into that appleid will send / receive messages. I send from my mac, it shows on my iphone and ipod simultaneously. Someone replys to my message and all the devices get the responses. Don't share appleids if you don't want to share personal info.

Hello.  I just bought my first Imac.  Each family member has created an account.  My question is: can each person use imessages privately when logged into their account?  instead of everyone seeing everyones imessages?  is there a way to do this?

I believe the short answer tot that is "yes" however I recommend you contact AppleCare to find out You have 90 days of free AppleCare telephone support when you buy any new Mac. This is the ideal time to begin using it. I'd also recommend that you purchase AppleCare, it will extend your 1 year warranty to 3 years and offer you 3 years of telephone support in addition to other services. You can locate the correct phone number in your part of the planet (Calgary, Canada??) by clicking Contact Apple for support and service

You need to log out of iMessage and Facetime, make sure your number is correct in Settings/General/About, then log back in again to send a new activation request.

  • How can I change/hack double-click behavior to include a preceding dollar symbol in the selection?

99.999% of times I double-click a word preceded of a $ (dollar) symbol, it is a variable name, and I want to COPY it along with the word, so I don't have to re-type it when pasting it.
Even in preview mode / visual view / when typing into actual text, I can't imagine a scenario where the dollar sign would not be part of the following word.
Is there any way to make this dumb behavior smarter?
Hacking into the DW files? Hacking into MacOS files?
    Thanks.

epub is a specific format that may require another app - I don't know what that would be on 10.5.
You can get info on the file in Finder (select the file, choose File Menu > Get Info…) the 'Open with' section will allow you to select other apps & you can also change this file & apply it to all files of that kind.
That should solve your issue, but you still may need an ebook reader.

  • Can iMessages be used without an apple id

I want to set up IM at my company. All computers are Mac except two PCs.  I'm wondering if I can use iMessage on the Macs and link into it from the PCs without using an apple id.

    Hi,
    To be clear.
The Messages App can do several things.
It can do everything iChat could do.
That includes Bonjour Chats (There are some PC app out there)
It included Jabber. It you have an Apple Server it can run iChat server which is Jabber Based and there are PC jabber apps out there
iChat is/was more famous for logging in to the AIM service with either with AIM registered name or Valid Apple issued IDs (@mac.com and @me.com)  There are also Apps for PCs that an log in to AIM.
    Messages also can do iMessages
It is essentially to connect to iOS devices
You add an Apple ID to use with the iMessages Service.
This can then send iMessages to either iPhones or iPads  (iPhone Numbers or Apple IDs) or to Messages on another Mac (using their Apple ID).
The Bonus for you having the same APple ID on your iPhone/iPad and Messages is that iMessages involving the Apple ID will sync to all the devices using it.
There are NO PC apps that can use iMessage.
    To be really clear.
The Message App is the name of the App and iMessage is just one Function it does.
However the iMessages side can not be linked in any way to PCs

  • Can iMessage be set to Compact View like iChat can?

Is there any way to switch from the chat bubbles to a more compact view in iMessage, something like iChat's Compact view?
I think the bubbles take up too much room and waste too much space.

No, there is no disc mode with any iPhone or iPod Touch. There are some applications in the iTunes App Store that can transfer documents to your iPod. Browse through the "Productivity" category.
