Can import videos to itunes but have no sound when on ipod

I have been at my wit's end trying to get my new ipod to work. I have some videos I have been trying to put on my ipod. I can import them into itunes fine, they play perfectly, but then when I convert them to ipod format, using itunes, they come out without any sound. It is saving them as .m4v, i have tried playing them in itunes and quicktime but neither of them play the sound.

Dont worry, I found a handy little tool that I think anyone who has any problems with ipod video should try. Its in Japanese, but just set the language to english, its pretty obvious. http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=3GP_Converter

    I can import files to itunes, but cannot sync to my ipod classic?

    My problem exactly, for over a year.  I now have new songs on my updated iTunes but stilll have my old (but different) songs on my 2008 Classic iPod that I don't want to lose.
    I just read that the latest iTunes update may have solved this problem.  Is this true?!?  I've been dealing with this problem for such a long time now, I'm afraid of even trying to re-sync without more information.
    Does anyone have the latest info on this?
    Glutius, I'd like to know if/how you solved this issue and I wonder if anyone has found Wondershare or Emicsoft to be helpful?  Help

  • I can import video into iMovie but the sound does not come with it.

    I tried using a digitizer with my Macbook Pro that worked very well with my G5 tower for the past 6 years.....I can see the video but get no sound. Any issues anybody can think of? I have tried switching cables, etc. I am using a firewire connection running from a VCR. It also does the same thing with a PowerPC Macbook Pro.

    I had a feeling that was it and found the website....it said would not work with Snow Leopard or even Panther. Thanks though for taking the time to help.

  • I can get sound for files ON my laptop but have no sound when I try to watch Hulu  or use other web-based  programs

    My MacBook Pro has sound for files housed on my laptop (ITunes for example) but if I try to watch a web-based program like Hulu or Khan Academy there is no sound.  How can I fix this?  I was using wireless headphones a few days ago and it all worked fine but then the sound stopped on both the headphones and the computer.  The video portion works fine, I just don't have any sound.  I threw away the headphones and deleted them from the Bluetooth on the Macbook Pro but still I have no sound.  Any ideas?

    1. System Preferences > Other/ Flash Player > Advanced >  Delete  All
         Press the "Delete All" button
      2. Install Adobe Flash Player.
        http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
       Download it first.
       The next step is important.
       Click Safari in the menubar and select “Quit Safari”.
        Follow the prompts and install it.
        Restart computer. Relaunch Safari.
    2.  Allow  Plug-ins
        Safari > Preferences > Security
        Internet Plug-ins >  "Allow  plug-ins"
        Enable it.

  • Can see Audiobooks in iTunes but they are not on the iPod

    Things were fine but then I tried to download a few songs from Freegal and everything got wiped out--music and audiobooks.  I can see them when I plug the iPod into the computer under my iPod file but it won't let me drag and drop the chapters into the ipod.  What's my solution to get those audiobooks, at least, back into the iPod.  They are OverDrive books by the way and they have already expired in OverDrive.

    This Apple knowledge-base article may help address that issue.

  • Can't import videos to iTunes!??

    I've been trying to import videos to itunes and for some reason they just won't go in! I have tried dvdrips and already converted to mp4 files on my harddrive, i've even downloaded the sample movie from the apple website to try and import that.
    When i go to import in the fille menu, find the file and click choose absolutely nothing happens. the finder window closes and thats it. the same happens for add to library function. i have the most up to date version of itunes and my brother has the same mac ipod and itunes version and can do it just fine exactly the same way as i am trying. pretty frustrating can anyone help?? pleases?

    Have you tried using the Finder? Just drag the video files onto Library in the sidebar. iTunes can be unresponsive - don't drop the files until Library (or Movies) turns blue and you see a green dot with a plus sign on your cursor.
    Once your movies are in iTunes, you can convert them to iPod format. Select the movie under Movies, then choose Advanced > Convert Selection to iPod.

  • HT1719 My itunes doesn't list "devices" above the playlist.  How can I sync the music I have purchased to my new ipod shuffle if it doesn't give me the option?  The shuffle is plugged into my computer, but nothing happens.  Help please!

    My itunes account doesn't list "devices" above the playlist, as the syncing instructions give.  How can I sync the itunes I have purchased & downloaded to my computer, to my ipod shuffle?  The device is plugged into my computer, but nothing happens.  Shouldn't the computer recognize the device? It doesn't.  Please help!

    As a test, shut down your computer and disconnect ALL USB devices.  Do this procedure to Reset the shuffle
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1655
    Start up computer with nothing connected, except for standard keyboard and mouse (if it's not a laptop).  Run iTunes.  Connect shuffle to a direct USB port on the computer.  See if there's any improvement,
    If the shuffle is now recognized, there may have been a USB device conflict previously, or maybe all of the devices connected at the same time overloads the USB bus (for power).  An iPod charges its battery while connected, so it is a high-power USB device.

  • I would like to upgrade my itunes but have a macbook 10.8.5. How can I do this?

    I would like to upgrade my itunes but have a macbook 10.8.5. How can I do this?

    Do you have 10.8.5 or 10.5.8?  It's listed as the latter on your equipment setting, but you stated that you have 10.8.5?  If you have 10.8.5 you have the most recent version and you should be able to update iTunes by checking for updates.  However, if you have 10.5.8 you need to first update to 10.6 so that you can download the new version of iTunes.  To upgrade to 10.6 (Snow Leopard) you need to get a hold of Apple so that they can send you the install DVD which will allow you to update your computer, after that, you can then download updates and get access to the App Store right from your desktop where you can then download Lion or Mountain Lion should you choose to move on further.

    thank you

    Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
    This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school enviroment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom
  • Trouble importing video to iTunes and watching on ATV2
    I have a ton of home video that I want to send from my mac to my new apple tv. I can't for the life of me get this video into itunes...and even when I can get itunes to import some of the clips, they don't show up in my library on the apple tv. I figure this must be a video format issue. I've transcoded all the clips to .mov files and my apple tv still doesn't show them in my library. very puzzling. anyone run into this problem?
    PS the original files are M2TS files from my Canon video camera.
    So .mov files won't work in itunes?
    Not at all. MOV files are file containers that contain any compression format that is supported by your current QT component configuration. This can include DivX, Xvid, multiplexed or elementary MPEG1/2 streams, Flash, Windows media, etc. (I.e., any compressed audio and video data saved using the "Save As..." QT 7 Pro option is automatically placed in an MOV file container. Therefore, placing compressed data in an MOV file container does not, in and of itself, make the data playback compatible with mobile device media players which do not share your main system QT components.
    I want my files to stay HD so I've been transcoding using h264.
    So what is preventing you? Applications like QT 7 Pro, iMovie, GarageBand, MPEG Streamclip, HandBrake, Turbo.264HD, etc. all have device specific conversion presets to turn your files into iTunes managed/mobile device compatible files. As a general rule of thumb, if you files can be played on your Mac, one or more of the mentioned applications can convert it for you.
    So much for apple stuff being "easy".
    Try visiting the QT forum to learn more about QT and third-party conversion techniques or join your local Apple User Group Video SIG for general or "one-on-one" assistance.
