Can InCopy (CS5) be installed on same system as InDesign (CS5)?

I currently have Adobe CS4 Design Standard installed on an XP platform, and will soon be upgrading to CS5.  We will also be rolling out a handful of InCopy CS5 installations to distribute the text editing workload.  Since I will likely be responsible for training these users, I would like to test InCopy/InDesign functionality so I understand how best to teach them how to use it in our situation.  Is it possible to install InCopy on my system with an existing InDesign installation?  I had a prior issue when I upgraded to CS4.  The new Acrobat Professional "broke" my Acrobat Reader installation (including file associations, browser plugins, etc.).  Things seemed to return to normal after reinstalling Reader, but I'm still not convinced that everything is set up the way it should be.  I am concerned that similar problems could occur with the InCopy installation.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

You should never have two versions of Acrobat or Reader on the same Windows machine.
As for InCopy and InDesign on the same machine, there's no problem at all with that.

  • Can PSA 3 SE coexist on same system as PSE 3 ?

Can PSA 3 SE coexist on same system as PSE 3 ?
I am asking this question for a classroom environment.
Based on the minimum information available on the Adobe site, I can not tell if the PSE 3 Organizer and PSA 3 SE will conflict either in program files or the Catalog.
    Barb O

This is a strange beast. The default is still My Catalog but there is no
ability to customize where the catalogue will go, nevermind if you want to
    create another one.
    >
    > Location and name of the default catalog - are they the same ?
I'll have to check on the other computer for PSA 2. I just have CS 2 on this
one. For some reason I thought I also had PSE 3.0, but I don't.
Sorry for the screw up Barbara. That said, the extension is the same. This
looks to me as though PSA 3 SE won't read other catalogs... but I'll have to
test it at the house. I'm at the school right now.
It also includes a small item that says "upgrade to PSE", so it is
compatible... but as you are right to be concerned... I still need to
install it with PSE to see about running it in parallel. As I look at
this... I can't see any advantage to.
    Cheers

  • Can InCopy CS5 save to a CS4 file type

I'm managing an e-learning project that requires a group of writers to use InCopy.  Everyone including our client is using IC CS4 but one of my writers who has been unable to find anything other than the latest version.  If she uses the CS5 version is there a way to save as to a CS4 compatible file that I can send to the client?  I know, for example, that Flash CS4 can save to a CS3 file format.  Thanks.

I agree with Bob. The ICML format itself (InCopy native format) is essentially the same in CS5 as it was in CS4. So InCopy CS4 can open ICML files created in InCopy CS5. And InDesign CS4 can place InCopy CS5 ICML files, as far as I can tell. But it's *always* better to use the same version of ID and IC.
One thing to keep in mind is that in InCopy CS5, the default font on both platforms is Minion Pro, not Times. This means the definition of the [Basic Paragraph] style is different. So if you're using styles, I would stay away from using any of the basic styles (including Table/Cell), and make sure your custom styles aren't based on them either.

  • Question on ADMIN rights for EP user with ECC also installed on same system

    Hello EP/ECC gurus
I have a situation here where we have installed EP and ECC on the same system using same SID and system number.
I have logged into ECC using a user name that has been registered as a developer.
I can create a table, populate with data etc., without any problem.
However, when we try to use EP, we are getting errors that the says that there are no roles assigned to this user.
What are we doing wrong? Any suggestions or recommendations will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Ram

    Hi Ram,
When the installation of EP was performed it should have created a user named J2EE_ADMIN. Try to log on to the portal with this account (password should be known from time of installation). You can examine the user/role assignments of your developer user and assign the portal roles you would like that particular user to have accordingly.

  • Can all three be installed on same box

Can 10g db, AS10g Rel 2 and Developer Suite 10g be installed on same machine?
    Thx

If you are just playing around, you do not need to install app server. Developer Suite comes with embedded App Server components that are there to enable easy development and local testing.

    no.

you can call apple and they'll send you replacement disks for the original install disks that came with the computer for a nominal fee.

  • Can create club be installed on three systems?

Hi there I was just ask a simple question, I recently downloaded creative club 14 on both my Mac  laptop and my stationary PC I was wondering if it were possible to install the software on the third computer.
I only asked this is apart from having to personal computer is I have also A third computer that I use occasionally for work.
Would I able  to install greatest cloud on the third system.

Your Creative CLOUD is licensed for 2 computers.  If you install and activate it on a third computer then you’ll have to deactivate it on the other two, and then possibly reactivate it on one of the old ones.  This process is for when you transition from an old computer to a new computer, but not for using on more than 2 computers.  I suppose you could deactivate on the old computers and then reactivate on the old computers but I suspect Adobe has some limit on how many times you can do that and eventually you’ll be locked out of one or more of the computers.

  • X-Fi Fatality & Emu-0404-- Way to install on same system?

I bought the proteus X/emu0404 package recently. I am looking at purchasing a new computer with the Soundblaster X-Fi Fatality board. A previous post stated that the Emu professional soundcards do not "play nice" with the X-Fi cards.
Can this information be verified? Are there any workarounds to this issue?

Message Edited by fffcmad on 02-22-200704:44 PM

  • InCopy 5.5 (PC) in same workflow as InDesign 5.0 (Mac-OS)

Does anyone have experience working with a PC version of InCopy 5.5 in a Mac-OS InDesign 5.0 workflow? Are there any issues between platforms? We share files over a local network. Thanks.

Thanks again for your follow up. I'll certainly keep that in mind.
As for "CS2 is unsupported under anything later than 10.4," FWIW,  I find it intriguing that even my mid-Pleistocene ver. of ID 2.0 ran beautifully on my Intel MacMini (purchased in 2006) right up until I installed OS 10.6 this spring. Perhaps the distinction here is technical. Which is to suggest that even though an app may not be "supported," it may nonetheless be "compatible (i.e, runs fine).
Semantics aside, please consider my question answered. I'm obliged to you.

  • CS2 & CS4 Extended on the same system

I have downloaded the CS4 Extended Trial but did not uninstall CS2 before doing so. Can these both exist on the same system without issues?
    Thanks!

Yes. I have Photoshop 2.5.1, PS 6, PS 7, CS, CS2, CS3, CS4 all playing nice together on the same machine.

  • Can I run Photoshop CS4 and CS5 on the same system?

I read somewhere a zillion years ago (right?) that you coould run CS4 and CS5 on the same system but at the time I wasn't even considering it.
Run on the same system - not ness to run at the same time
Or should I install it on a seperate drive (bootable) and go that route. What has everyone found to work and/or not work?
Thanks in advance for your help
    BJ

Yes, you can run CS4 an CS5 on the same computer.  They install in different folders and don't get in each other's way.  As a matter of fact, you will find many posts in this forum from the experts recommending to keep CS4 (or an earlier version) when installing CS5.  This way, there is no danger of losing any older plug-ins you may have that aren't compatible to CS5.
When I installed PS CS5 I had problems with my scanner driver.  Instead of spending loads of time fixing that problem, I just use PS CS4 when I want to spend an afternoon scanning things. I'm not recommending that "lazy man's" solution, but it is an example of how CS4 and CS5 can be used on the same system.

  • I have license for photoshop CS5 extended for windows , I have switched to mac , can  I install the same license copy on mac ?

I have license for photoshop CS5 extended for windows , I have switched to mac , can  I install the same license copy on mac ?

Unfortunately, no. the CS programs are platform specific. You have three options. Upgrade to CS6 and request a platform swap, in which case you will give up the Windows serial number. Second, you could buy a second serial number for Mac outright. Third, you can buy the subscription to Photoshop CC, which can be used on both Windows and Macintosh..

  • Can I install clone of system on same HD as Time Machine for a repair boot drive?

Can I install clone of system on same HD as Time Machine so I can use the external as a second boot?
I have an external connected to new iMac and installed Time Machine on it. I then realized that I cannot boot from TM so can I clone my system onto the same HD as the TM is on? For purpose of rebooting so I can use Disk Warrior or other diagnostics?
    Thanks.
    Jeff

I did try that but the only options I was ofered were:
    Restore from Time Machine Backup
    Reinstall OS X
    Get Help Online
    Disk Utility
I didn't want any of those options. I just wanted to boot from the external.
You used recovery option - that is not what you need for this. Follow lowluster's suggestion to create another partition on your external drive, then format it using Disk Utility if necessary (in your applications folder). After that, use CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper to create a bootable clone on the external while booted from the internal.
Didn't know TM was to be installed on internal boot. Thanks.
Isn't there an advantage to having it on an external as well?
Time Machine is an application program and installed on your internal by default. You activate it from there and it works on its own to create backups on an external drive. It backs up everything.
