Can individual iPhones be directed to save photos in separate locations on a PC?

My wife, daughter and I each have individual apple mobile products (iPhone, 5, 4s, 3s, and iPads).  Is there a way to download / sync / backup the photos from each of our camera rolls on our devices and keep each of our photos separate on our PC (running Vista)?  We do not use iCloud because we keep our contacts / notes etc separate using Gmail / Yahoo accounts.  We do use one iTunes account and want to keep it that way.  Our big issue is when the pictures get transferred back, everyone's' individual pictures get shared in the "photo library" back on each device. And I really don't want to see all of my daughters / wife's pictures on my device and I'm sure they feel the same.  I think my solution would be on how to figure out to direct the pictures from each individual device to a certain folder when they are being imported.  Currently they all import to one "mobile photos" folder and I can not separate this. Can anyone help?

What happens if you just put the cursor over the picture and right click?

  • IPhone Camera won't save photos/iPhoto can't see photos

My iPhone camera is having a lot of problems.
    1. Photos the are clear when taken are blurry when reviewed.
    2. When I try to delete a photo, it says "saving photo" instead.
    3. Photos don't save properly.
    4. Although I have 900 pics on my iPhone, iPhoto recognizes the iPhone but says there are no items.
I tried wiping the phone and restoring from back up, and restarting multiple times.  Help!!!

    This worked!
    summary:
    Download an iphoneexplorer -http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/download-pc.php
go to photodata folder, delete this files,
    com.apple.photos.caches_metadata.plist
    Photos.sqlite
    PhotosAux.sqlite
    That's it.

    Hi everyone.
I had the exact problems that you're all describing. Pictures getting pixly/blurred, camera app crashing, and at the end I couldn't even open the picture-viewer. I found this thread and was let down, but I continued searching for a tip and was rewarded.
This fix worked like a charm:
    http://www.iphoneincanada.ca/how-to/how-to-fix-iphone-camera-roll-crash-and-phot os-turned-to-other-in-itunes/
It gives you a step by step-solution which was fairly simple to follow. Afterwards, my camera app works again just fine and I have no problems viewing my pictures.
And best of all, no restore or factory restore needed!
Good luck, best wishes from Sweden.

  • I can open my catalogue and see edited photos but cannot locate

To start off thanks for the help. I have searched but cannot find an answer to my question, I feel I am doomed. I am able to open my catalogue, see my edited thumbnails of photos, but I get the message they are unable to locate. I have performed all steps to find them but I can't. On top of it I KNOW I deleted the place where they were saved because it was in an out of order folder and I was cleaning up my HD. Also I did not back up(mistake I know I'm learning).  I have all the original files still, but I guess my question is why can I see the catalogue with all my edits, but can't seem to locate the file, I feel they have to be there somewhere. Is it possible to see these things and still be doomed? Or in fact are they still somewhere to be found? Thanks.

So just to finalize and be clear. I start of with a RAW .NEF file. Start a catalogue with the .NEF files. Then as I edit them they were saved to a destination elsewhere that I have since deleted as . DNG files. I still have all original photos, can see the edited thumbnails which makes sense based on what other have said, but all the time I put into editing through Lightroom is out the window because I deleted the destination files?
If you edited the NEF files, you don't need the DNGs, but you do need the NEF files. Do you still have those?
If you told Lightroom to convert to DNG before editing, then you need the converted DNG files of your original NEFs, not the ones you "saved" (technically there is no "save" command in Lightroom so you couldn't save the files as DNG, and anyway if you mean "exported" then it shouldn't matter if you deleted the exported photos). Do you still have those DNGs that were converted from your original NEF files??
So, if you deleted the exported photos, you haven't lost your editing.
If you have deleted your NEF originals (in the case where you edited the NEF files), or the DNGs converted from your original NEF files and the original NEFs are deleted too (in the case where you edited the DNG files) then your editing is probably intact in the catalog but can't be used as you don't have the original files.

  • Can my iPhone rescue my dead hard drive?

Yeah, my hard drive died, it's dead, it's not coming back. But my MacBook is coming back with a new HD. How can I use my iPhone Contacts, iCal and internet bookmarks when I'm rebuilding the MacBook?
    My questions:
    1. How can I rebuild my address book? When I connect my iPhone for the first time with the new HD'd MacBook, will it automatically fill in Address Book with my iPhone contact info? I don't want to plug in the iPhone and have the computer erase the Address Book - huge fear!!
    2. How can I transfer my iCal info onto the MacBook?
    3. Is there a way to restore all of my Safari bookmarks, saved in my iPhone, to my "new" MacBook?
    4. I also have a few photos on the phone I'd like to keep.
    Thanks in advance!

The following has information on the 2 types of backups: Choosing an iOS backup method (Should I use iTunes or iCloud to back up my iOS device?)
Does the backup to iCloud save all of my photos, videos and contact numbers?
Note that whichever you decide, if your photos & videos are important to you I would strongly encourage you to import them to a computer where you can see that they are successfully stored in a separate location and can be included in your regular computer backup routine or if that is not possible, use a 3rd party online storage service such as Flickr. The various support forums are full of posts from people who thought they had there photos backed up but were unable to restore them. iOS: Import personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
Same thing goes for Contacts. In addition to backup you should sync them to either iCloud or your computer.

  • Can I transfer my individual iPhone photo albums to my MacBook Pro and iPad?

I have taken my photos on my iPhone and broken them down into separate album folders. When I sync my iPhone to my laptop, it will transfer the pictures over, but not in the separate album folders I've created on my iPhone.
Can I somehow transfer my individual iPhone photo albums to my MacBook Pro and iPad?
Why won't the "Album Folders" transfer over? I know I can create separate folders directly on my laptop, but that doesn't help with transferring the folders from my iPhone over to my laptop or iPad.

The Seagate backup drive I bought doesn't support 10.5.8
The only reason I can see for that is it's formatted NTFS, which would likely be Read Only in 10.5.x, if you can reformat it MacOS extended, which would erase everything on it now, then that should work for your purposes.

  • After updating my iphone I can't save photos anymore.

After updating my iPhone to the iOS 5 , it does not save any photos I take. If I go to my camera roll a black screen appears.Or it simply says no photos have been saved.

I am beyond frustrated. I have 1700 contacts on my treo 680 and no one can tell me how to get those contacts into my iphone.
You need to sync or transfer your Palm contact information from the Palm Desktop software on your Mac to the Address Book application. This can be done with the iSync application on your Mac located in your Applications folder.
Also, when I sync my iphone to my Imac, not all the contacts from the Imac appear on the iphone.
Resetting the sync history on your Mac may resolve this, with instructions for doing so included with my previous post in this thread.
I used MobilMe because it was supposed to sync my email, calendar and contacts. All it did was to wipe out many of the contacts I had already put into the iphone.
Which is normal when first turning on over the air syncing for contact information with your MobileMe account on your iPhone.
You need to first sync contact information available in the Address Book on your Mac with your MobileMe online address book before turning on over the air syncing for contact information with your MobileMe account on your iPhone.
After doing so, contact information will be kept synchronized between your iPhone's address book, your MobileMe online address book, and the Address Book on your Mac - as long as you enable automatic syncing for contact information via your MobileMe account settings on your Mac.

  • When I sync my photos to iPhoto from my iPhone 4S it like saves about 200 on my phone. I really don't like that because they're like really old and stay the same... Can you take that setting off? Or just make it you most recent pictures instead?

Or just make it you most recent pictures instead? It's really annoying because they're like year old pics

it had to do with Maverick/Aperture not supporting the same date formats as before in Smart Albums when I upgraded.
Smart albums based on dates have always been problematic, if you use smart settings that require a date string to be entered. How the date string will be interpreted, will depend on your settings in the System Preferences > Language&Text > Advanced > Dates formats and the "Region".
It is much safer to use "Calendar" rules in Aperture instead of "Date" rules with date-strings. Calendar rules will remain valid, if the region settings are changed in the System preferences.

All of my photos are displayed as BW because somehow I've saved a quick develop preset and it saves as BW.  This is for all of my photos.  I can individually undo them but need help in how to get rid of the preset so all photos goes to Default or as shot. thanks

Go to the develop module and highlight all of the images in the filmstrip at the bottom of the screen. Then activate Auto-sync and click on the Reset button. That should reset all of the images to your camera default settings.

  • I can't save photos from mail to desktop or iPhoto all of a sudden! 10.8.5

I have an iMac, OS 10.8.5.  Up until a few months ago I was able to save photo email attachments to iPhoto or my dekstop with no issues but now I can not.  I try to drag photo attachments to either place, it it doesn't work. I try to right click for options, nothing.  I'm really not sure what the problem is but it is very frustrating!

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Photostream overly complicated, can't save photos to Camera Roll

For those of us who like to manage our photos manually, why is it so overly complicated to manage images between Photostream and Camera Roll?
First, I just want to save photos from my old iPhone, which I added to from iPhoto to my Photostream because it seemed to be the only way, to my Camera Roll. This is not possible though. When I go to Photostream and select photos then select "Add To" it shows Camera Roll but it does not allow me to select Camera Roll and add them. The only option I can select is to create a new album within Photostream. If I just select an image in Photostream and then hit the share button, it also does not give me a save to Camera Roll option.
I only want to use the Camera Roll, yet even with Photostream turned off, photos I take on my iPhone still show up in the Photostream.
I just don't understand why this is so complicated. I've seen forum discussions that say it's easy to save Photostream photos to Camera Roll, but I've tried every way mentioned but it never gives me the option of saving to Camera Roll.
    Help please. Thanks.

Create an album for your old photos.  Connect your phone to iTunes on your computer. On the phone's summary page tap the Photos tab. Check the Sync photos from checkbox. Click the button next to the checkbox.  Navigate to the folder on your computer where the pictures are located.  Add them to your album.
Doing this in reverse is the only way to get these pictures back off your phone.
I agree iCloud / Photostream for photos is way to complicated and useless, but it is locked down to keep people from trying to use it to share commercial videos and music via the shared photostream. At least that is my guess.

  • I damaged my iphone 5 and have been sent a new one, but i do not have enough storage to back up my phone and do not want to pay for more storage. can i get all of my contacts, photos, etc. on my new phone just by logging into my icloud account?

Not photos, just data synced with iCloud shown in Settings>iCloud.  If you don't have sufficient storage to back up to iCloud, back up to your computer instead using iTunes (connect you phone to your computer, open iTunes, click on the name of your phone in iTunes, go to ths Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings and click Back Up Now).  Also transfer your purchases to your iTunes library (connect your phone to your computer, open iTunes and go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases). If you have photo stream photos older than 30 days tha you wan to save, save these to your camera roll before backing up (tap Select, tap the photos, tap the share icon -- box with upward facing arrow, then tap Save to Camera Roll).
When setting up your new phone, when given the option choose Restore from iTunes Backup and restore the backup you made earlier.

  • After downloading IO6, can't capture photos from Facebook. I get "save photo" instead of "save image".  While browsing, save image comes up and photos save to camera roll.  Seems to be a problem only on FB.

Downloaded IO6 on my iPhone 4s.  Now I can't capture a photo off Facebook to the camera roll.  When I try, I get a "Save Photo" tab rather than a "Save Image" button,  The photo does not save to camera roll.  For email images and Safari images, "save image" comes up and save to camera roll.  Seems only a problem with images on FB.  Any ideas?  Thanks

You launched iPhoto and from its Preferences you selected Connecting camera opens.....

  • How do I save photos from email directly into correct album of iphoto?

how can I save photos to the correct album in iphoto directly from email?  I've been emailed photos I can't figure out how to save.  Thanks!

You can drag a photo from the email window onto the Album in the left hand pane of iPhoto and it will be added to that Album.  The photo will be in its own Event but will also be in the Album you dragged it to.
