Can information in cache accessed outside of Oracle DB after shutdown?

Hi All,
I read that the information in caches can be accessed outside of Oracle DB and the buffered Cache must be emptied at shut down of Oracle DB.
Questions:
1. Is it possible to access cache outside of Oracle DB? If yes, how can one read it?
2. Is the information in the cache stored on a persistent storage (file) and can be accessed if the user has permissions on the OS?
Thanks,
Hozy

1. It is possible to access SGA of a running instance with C code but this is not supported by Oracle. See http://oraperf.sourceforge.net/presentations/SGA_access.ppt
2. I don't think this is possible.

  • Can't mount or access Time Capsule shared drive after installing Mavericks

    Hi everyone,
I upgraded my MacBook Pro to Mavericks (10.9.2) last weekend and everything went fine at first.
However, after copying and moving several files from-to my Time Capsule, I can't access the shared drive anymore.
My Time Capsule is installed in a LAN and I can see it from all computers (it prompts for the security password). However, even as the "Data" volume in TC is shown on Finder, I cannot access it or browse any of the files on it, neither the backup files (sparsbundle) not the regular folders/files we kept there as a shared volume. (see screenshots). All I see is the "Data" folder as a "Sharepoint" (?). When I double click I see an error message: "The operation can't be completed because the original item for "Data" can't be found" (see screenshots attached).
I ran Airport Utility 6.3.2 and everything seems to be working well on the Time Capsule. It shows a solid green light and the firmware is up to date (7.6.4).
I need to recover my files from the drive (I don't care too much about the backup files as I can recreate them from scratch). I've been reading support forums all morning and couldn't figure out a way to do it.
I also tried the "Archive" function from Airport Utility to copy everything on TC to a USB drive and nothing happens (all I get is a Time Machine backup folder with zero items in it).
Any ideas on how to recover the files on the drive would be great!
    Thanks.

Have you tried shutting down the Time Capsule and then restarting it? Have you tried resetting it?
See pages 28 and 29. Using Airport Utility (page 29), I don’t see the options the manual says are there. I have done a reset and a full reset (page 28) many times and it has always straightened out the Time Capsule.

  • Access Query to Oracle Query conversion

I am converting an Access database to Oracle 8.1.6.
There are lot of reports in Access. HOw can I convert the Access
query to Oracle equivalent query??? Is there any tool available
    for conversion???

    FYI,
Microsoft Access is using ANSI SQL. And Oracle has introduced ANSI SQL from Oracle 9i so, it is also in 10g.
Oracle 10g does not stop backward compatibilty so, It is depends on person. And I am not forcing you to migrate query from ACCESS to Oracle. I have simply answer the question which you have asked. Whether you want to perform efficiently or not it's your choice.
But one thing is sure, ORACLE (9i or 10g) provides ANSI SQL and MS ACCESS is using ANSI sql so, this task is feasible. No doubt about it.

You cannot lock it by the serial number. Report it to your carrier and the police. You said that the thief knows your pass code. Does that mean that the thief was a personal friend who would be close enough to you to know what your code was? If that is the case, ask your friend to return your phone.

  • How to update information fields of a profile in Oracle UCM using RIDC

    Hi All
I have a requirement in which i need to modify/update the metadata/information fields of a Profile in Oracle Webcenter Content(UCM).
I found out that this can be achieved using RIDC api, but i have little knowledge about the same.
If someone could suggest about how to retrieve and update the fields in UCM using RIDC or some other approach would be of great help.
    It's really important.Kindly help

    Hi Jiri
Even i have thought about the same as one of the approaches, but i was a bit apprehensive about using this one.
I have few stupid queries regarding this:
1)Will it expose the production database(connection details) to the environment?Yes. If you don't like the idea of giving connection to the database to a "third-party" program, you could go from the other side - create a UCM component (some kind of scheduled job), which will be a part of UCM, but do the same. It will be a bit more complicated, but might be considered more secure.
2)Will it have any performance impact?I don't think there will be much impact - most of time, tables will be accessed in read-only mode (pulling the data out), so except few per cent of CPU and some memory it should not consume anything. Besides, you should be able to schedule upload to "quiet hours", if there are some
3)Will it still be an integration with the UCM?Well, yes. It will be integration at the database level. But honestly, as long as it works, do you care how is it called?

  • We can figure this standard access list

We can figure this standard access list that's important remember that we use a standard access list  want to block all traffic or permit all traffic from a particular
source or destination let's take a look at this machine right here   that  is IP address say
640-554 we want to stop him from going into the Ethernet interface I'm the ad man he made me midsummer block callers traffic he can get out anymore maybe this is even the internet out
here we know people like their Internet access so to get back at them I'm a block it what I can do is I can use deny statement in my access list access list
    one did not .
    http://640-554cisco.com/

    Hi Suresh,
    ad 1) according to the documentation ( http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E28280_01/doc.1111/e26692/securityacls.htm#BEIIHJAH )
"At least one of the following must be true for a user to be granted a particular permission:
The user's name appears in the xClbraUserList metadata field with the appropriate permission.
The user belongs to a group that appears in the xClbraAliasList metadata field with the appropriate permission.
The user is part of an Enterprise role that appears in the xClbraRoleList metadata field with the appropriate permission."
meaning that OOTB a user will be granted both Read permission as per user-granted permissions and RWD as per group-granted permissions (resulting into RWD because at the same level a union operation is used).
I'd say that conceptually, the group assignment should not be used in your use-case, because you don't want to assign permissions to group's users, do you? You could create new groups, or use assignment of permissions per user.
    ad 2) check this: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E28280_01/doc.1111/e26692/securityacls.htm#BEIIDCGD
Using ACLs, regardless User or Group Access Lists, always impacts the performance. And, it is difficult to maintain. From the information at the link you may understand how it is implemented - basically, the execution of the query will be affected by: a) how many items have to be evaluated b) the length of strings (xClbraUserList, xClbraAliasList) to be evaluated.

  • Access 2003 to Oracle Migration Queries

    Hi Experts,
I have taken up a project to migrate Access 2003 application to Oracle 9i.The Forms and Reports will continue to run in Access 2003 with Oracle 9i database. I decide to use Oracle Migration workbench for the migration purpose. What I think is the back-end i.e. database and queries will be automatically migrated to Oracle 9i but I'm not sure about the front end application.
Do I need to change front end application to point to database in Oracle 9i or OMW will do that itself.I am also confused with lots of queries that reside in current Access database. I presume these queries will be converted to Oracle procedures/views without any manual intervention but will the front-end application also be modified automatically to point to those stored procedures/views. Otherwise an extensive code change will be required which may result in huge cost.
Currently the Access application is not using any ODBC DSN as it gets connected to the database automatically. Should the database connection be changed to use DSN prior to Migration?
One more thing, the application is using single-level linked table. Will the linked table get automatically converted and connected or I need to do anything?
Could anyone help me in this issue by giving some ideas so I can manage the job efficiently and make proper planning before plunging into the real work.
    Thanks & Regards
    S C

The Migration Workbench will modify the Access mdb file as part of the migration if you request it, to create the necessary link tables to oracle, it will use an ODBC DSN to do this. This is explained in our documentation. This should be transparent.
However for complex application, you often have a tuning exercise, to ensure that the jet engine does the "right" thing, and there changes are required, e.g. a two way join, you would want that to happen on the server and not done on the client. This would be same tuning exercise, if the back end was SQL Server.
In the latest release of the Access plugin, we did a better job migrating queries to views, but you need to plug this into your code.
Yes, the exporter should extract the information about the linked table, assuming the link is valid at the time of extraction.

  • SOA 11.1.1.5 install got can't write cache file

    Hi,
I installed 2 node cluster of SOA 11.1.1.5 on linux and during domain configuration I got errors i.e.
**sys-package-mgr: can't write cache file for**
Installation was done and all the servers start/stop fine am able to deploy the processes, am able to access all the urls fine everything coming up fine BAM, SOA, OSB etc . Just wondering if the error above have any effect on the installation or any piece that might not work. As I have already did the installation and ignored those errors above so just wanted to see if anything I need to look for.
    Thanks

    Hi,
It's a cluster install and took sometime to do the full install so it will be a pain to re-install everything over. Currently have tested the processes and seems to be working fine.
    Also I don't find
    /var/tmp/wlstTemp
I do see wlstTemp appended with linux users who did Oracle SOA install.
Also in-future when creating a new environment besides the above chmod 777 on /var/tmp/wlstTemp is there any parameter we can supply when running config.sh. I read some where that in-order to get by these errors at the time of domain creation we can also pass some parameter.
    Thanks
