Can iPad 1 use the new Lion?

No iPad can use Lion. Lion is the new system software for Macintosh computers.

  • How do i save a photo from iPhoto onto flash drive using new lion software

Trying to save a photo in iphoto (using new lion software on my mac) to a flash drive.  There is no save button and can no longer just drag the photo into the drive.  Any ideas.

You can select the thumbnail and type Command+C to copy it.  Then click on the Desktop and type Command+V to paste it.  That will get you the latest version of the photo in iPhoto.
However, you should be able to drag the photo to the desktop.  Launch iPhoto with the Option and Command keys held down and rebuilt the library with the first and last options selected.
If that doesn't do the trick use Disk Utility to repair disk permissions.

i forget previous id, can i use new id on my phone?

If you mean an Apple ID, you can as long as you did not use the IDto turn on Settings > iCloud Find My Phone, in which case your iPhone will lock on you.

  • My computer is a MacBook Pro Intel core duo, and I need to know if I can run the new Lion OS?

My computer is a MacBook Pro Intel core duo, and I need to know if I can run the new Lion OS?  The Apple web says must have Intel Core 2 Duo. Please advise. Not knowledgeable enough to know if not having the 2 between Core and Duo is a stopper.  Appreciate any guidance.

The difference between a Core Duo and a Core 2 Duo is a show stopper when it comes to running Lion.  The Core Duo is still only a 32 bit chip, but the Core 2 Duo is a 64 bit chip.  You need the 64 bit chip to run Lion.

  • Can I use iWork '09 on Lion without using new Lion features?

I do not wish to use the new features in Lion, primarily autosave, with iWork, at least initially.  In other words have iWork act as it would in S.L.   However, I need to purchase iWork in order to continue using a bunch of Appleworks spreadsheets.  I am using a new MBP with OS 10.7.1.  My plan is to purchase the hard copy iWork '09 from the Apple Store (the AppStore download versions have already been updated).  This CD should be some version of 9.0 as they have not put 9.1 on the CD.  My idea is to just not let the modules (Numbers, Pages, etc.) get updated until I am ready.  My question is -- will Numbers and Pages work properly on Lion without using the final update to the new Lion Features, and which updates to Numbers and Pages should I avoid?
    Any help is appreciated.

Alas, it's reactivated when we shutdown if we don't take care to uncheck the dedicated box.
More, if we ask to restart on an other device, we have no checkbox available to disable Resume.
Happily, it seems that pressing option during the shutdown process disable the beast.

  • Can i use new ipad charger for ipad 2 and vise versa

I have ipad 2 and i bought new ipad for my dad. Both ipads charge quickly with ipad2 charger as compare to new ipad charger.
So, my question is.. Is it okay to use new ipad charger for ipad 2 and vise versa...???

The iPad 1, iPad 2 and new iPad all use the same 10W charger.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • How can I use new apps on an old macbook?

    Hi all.
I've been using macs since September now, and there are a number of things I've found infuriating about working on my Macbook...
My Macbook is an old, mid 2007 model, Version 10.6.8, with a 2.16Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor and 4GB.
Unfortunately, this model of Macbook will not update to any later version.  This means there are a lot of apps I cannot use on it.
I'm a filmmaking student, so editing is a huge part of my course. When downloading the newest version of any editing software (such as Premiere Pro or Avid Media Composer), the Macbook will simply refuse to install it, because it requires a newer version of OS X. This is just one example of the many things I cannot do due to the OS X version on here.
How can I get around using newer apps such as Premiere Pro with version 10.6.8? Baring in mind I'm a student so I cannot afford to spend money on a new hard drive or anything.
Also, if I have bought various games on Steam, but some of them are seemingly only playable on PC, can anyone tell me how I can get around playing those games on a Mac?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.
    Steve

The Core2Duo MacBook (13-inch mid 2007) is rather dated, and to run a certain type
of software on that model you'd have to get the version which was current when the
computer model and the OS X versions it could run were prevailing. So an old version
of something you need (used, new-old-stock, etc) may do the job for a time.
Also, the Core2Duo series of early MacBook can run Lion 10.7.5 and that is about $20.
as a download with code you buy from the Apple Store online. There are a few updates
to the Lion version 10.7 once you went that far. Some older 10.6.8 capable applications
for Intel based Macs would probably still work OK in 10.7.5, but none of the PPC coded
third party applications would run without the Rosetta feature installed in Snow Leopard.
According to MacTracker database, your old Core2Duo is one of those which can run
Lion 10.7.5 at the latest, and a slight upgrade in RAM to 3GB total, is possible. Not sure
if any advantage of using two 2-GB chips would be seen as functional in there, but that
is an easy way to round off what is written as the higher supported amount of RAM. With
two of the 2 GB chips. Otherwise: one - 1 GB +  one - 2 GB = 3GB lists as total.
A good repaired MacBook or MacBook Pro of earlier vintage isn't very expensive; some
companies offer the versions older than those available at the Apple Store refurbished
page, that still may be capable, yet not run the latest applications. And several of them
probably should not run Yosemite since their hardware may be marginal. Models that
cannot have their hardware upgraded to run a later OS X, should not be chanced.
Sites such as macsales.com sometimes offer used Macs, wegenermedia.com has a
few different models, since they repair computers and offer excess on their site. The
powermax company has some. Not sure who actually repairs what they sell, with an
exception to wegenermedia who does repair on-site and will accept repair orders.
The everymac.com site is helpful in comparing various build year model specifications
as is the downloadable database of update upgrade specs from http://mactracker.ca .
So, you can upgrade past Snow Leopard 10.6.8, but that may or may not break other
applications you may still be able to use from the preceding era of Mac software. Lion
also would probably prefer more RAM than SL 10.6.8, so you're max-ed out there.
The MacBook series has been discontinued for nearly 5 years (2006 to 2010) so their
last model was among the better ones. MacBook/Pro 13-inch Late 2012 remains good
since you could add RAM and possibly upgrade the hard disk drive. It's a non-retina.
Hopefully you can find a deal on some good condition later model MacBook or Pro.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Can I use new install disks for older computer?

I have a new MBP (which I'm very excited about!). I am going to pass my two-year old MBP to one of my college kids. I would like to wipe it clean as he will be transferring all of his own info onto it from his current MBP (which will then be passed down to another college kid). I can't find the original install disk. Can I use the ones that came with the new machine?

No. The install disks are specific to the model they ship with.
I've read that a Retail copy of Snow Leopard will allow you to essentially do a 'fresh' install of the OS, but it does not include the diagnostics and configuration features of your original system disks.
You can call Apple and order a replacement set of disks for a nominal charge (around $40, I think I've read.) Since you're keeping it in the family, that would be an important thing to have with the Mac in case you cannot locate the originals.

  • Can ipad use my iphone as a modem

can my ipad use my iphone as a modem

You can use your iPhone as a hotspot if that is what you mean - read this.
    http://www.tipb.com/2011/03/15/daily-tip-connect-ipad-iphone-personal-hotspot/
    From Apple's website   http://www.apple.com/ios/
On the road, in an airport, at the park — now you can bring Wi-Fi with you wherever you go. Download iOS 4.3 on your iPhone 4, and the next time you find yourself without access to Wi-Fi but in 3G territory, enable Personal Hotspot and share your cellular data connection with your Mac, PC, iPad, or other Wi-Fi-capable device. You can share your connection with up to five devices at once over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and USB — with up to three of those connections using Wi-Fi.4 Every connection is password protected and secure. And it’s power friendly, too. iPhone detects when your Personal Hotspot is no longer in use and turns it off to save battery life.

  • Can't use New iCloud account -

I moved and changed my email address so I changed my apple ID online, but it won't change on my iPhone, it still has my old email address, and I don't know the password to the old email…I have a new iCloud account but i can't use it.
I can't change it on my computer and cant change on my phone...sorry I don't know how to explain this any better...HELP!

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.
When you do this you may find that your password is not accepted.  If this happens, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, you have to temporarily recreate your old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • Can't use new iPod Nano, cannot upgrade to iTunes 7, running Leopard 10.5.8?

Help!  This is a hybrid question.  I just received my iPod Nano today (the newest one, 7th generation I believe?).  I attempted to connect to my iTunes, and it prompted me to update iTunes.  I am unable to update iTunes because apparently my OS X is outdated.
I believe I am currently operating at 10.5.8.
I spent several hours trying to download the updates only to determine I need a whole other OS X, maybe Snow Leopard or Lion?  I don't believe I can upgrade to Mountain Lion from what I currently have.
I'm REALLY frustrated right now and can't find a Lion download on the Mac website.
I'm operating a white MacBook, circa 2008.  Please help.

Click here; they resumed selling it on the web store after I wrote that.
