Can ipad apps be used on iMacs?

I'm new to Imac. If you've purchased apps for the ipad, can those same app be used on the Imac? For example, I have Numbers on my Ipad but need the program on my Imac as well and did not want to have to purchase it again. Thanks

No, and not vice-versa. They are two different hardware platforms requiring different operating systems.

You're question is a bit unclear. Did you try to download an iPad app to your iPhone and you can't find it? Or are you asking it you can download an iPad app to your iPhone? For the former, use Spotlight to search for the app. If the latter, it depends. If it's an iPad only app, no, it won't download to the phone. However, some apps are "universal", meaning they will work on both the iPad and the iPhone. They are designated by a little plus over the price badge.
In the App Store, the description of the app will include what devices it will work on.

    HI Chris,
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
Could you expand on your answer, which bit is very doubtful?
Also in your knowledge would Apple work with a company and license it if the software they were developing was desired by consumer demand?
    Thanks

  • Can anyone tell me the Map Ipad app is available for imac yet. if so where can i download it or is it already on my mac somewhere?

    Hi
Can anyone tell me if the Maps App is available for Imac yet and if so how do i find it?

  • What is the best ipad app to use for documents/notes

    Hi
I really want to use my new ipad at work for note taking at meetings, creating to do lists, actions etc, but most of my colleagues use laptops with MS Office (word mostly).
Does anyone have any recommendations as to whether I could do this, and if I can which app is best? Of course I want to email my colleagues with my notes so they can read them without losing any formatting I do on the ipad....?
    Help would be appreciated...

If you're about to email them, take notes right there in the 'compose email' function.  That way you can't lose any formatting !  Otherwise the Notes app isn't bad.
But if you want proper formatting flexibility then you're possibly best off getting a copy of Pages for iOS.  This has lots of formatting flexibililty and exports to Word format.

  • Can iPad apps be synced onto MacBook or Do I have to repurchase them

I have had an iPad for a while and have a good few apps on it. Recently purchased a MacBook and was wandering if there's any way of syncing the iPad apps onto the MacBook or whether I have to repurchase them.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Of course. Just plug the iPad to your MacBook, open iTunes and go to the File menu (on the menu bar) > Devices > Transfer purchases, so your applications will be transferred to the Mac. Note that you can't use the iPad applications on your Mac

  • Who knows good iPad apps for using in school?

    Hey,
Soon I'm gonna use my iPad in school. But I don't know good apps for using in school.
Specially for using my iPad a notebook.
I'm looking for an app that can write and draw. I also want to keep my notes organized.
    Who has good suggestions?
    Thanks in advance,
    Thijs
PS. Sorry for my bad English

I would recommend Evernote, a cloud storage app that allows you to organize notes and access them anywhere, over the built-in Notes. For handwriting drawing, I use Notability and email my notes directly from there to my Evernote account; Penultimate is (in my opinion) not as good a writing app, but works better with Evernote. Paper is another good writing app. If you want handwriting recognition, check out Writepad (also works well with Evernote).

  • What is a good drumpad ipad app to use with Logic?

Is it possible to use a drumpad ipad app with Logic to create drumtracks? And if so, which app would be good for this?
    Andre

I use the OWC, http://www.macsales.com Mercury Elite Pro external drives but they may seem large to use as portable drives.
My daughter has a very small 2 TB Western Digital My Passport for Mac that she has been using for a lot of travel and works great.

  • HT4461 Can IOS apps be viewed on iMac

Can IOS apps be viewed on iMac

iOS apps will not run on a Mac. You may store backup copies of the the apps in the iTunes content libraries by syncing your iOS devices with the Mac. You can see what apps are in the content library from within the iTunes app, as well as, update the apps when available.

  • Is anyone aware of an iPad App that uses the screen as a flash for photography?

While pictures taken outdoors with good lighting are acceptable, less can be said for those taken indoors under artificial light. Does anyone know of an app I can use to augment the room light with that from my screen?

IMO, unless the room was nearly dark, I can't imagine the iPad would, even at full brightness, make any significant difference in this application.

  • Can iPad mini be used to have wi fi from BB 9380

    Hi All,
I am new to the community. I am just owner of a IPad mini.
My query is - I have a Blackberry 9380 at home with 3G Internet connectivity. Can it be used to generate wi fi connectivity to my iPad mini. Please inform. Thanks and regards.

AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon support iPads in the US. You have to match the specific model to the carrrier. LTE is supported if available. It doesn't matter what retail outlet you purchase it from (although obviously the carriers only sell the models that work on thier network).

  • Can IPAD MINI be used as a cellphone?

Can I text my friends there? Using my Sim card?

Other than the screen size, an iPhone and iPad are primarly the same, other than the iPhone's phone functionality, of course. Many people underestimate the impact of the larger screen, though, which makes much more of a difference than some realize. Whether that would be of benefit to you will depend on what you do with your iPhone now, or wish to do. If you have an Apple Store near you, I'd suggest visiting one and spending a bit of time with an iPad mini so you can see for yourself. If you don't see a benefit, you can then sell the iPad.
    Regards.

  • Can ipad mini be used with month to month contract?

i want to buy an ipad mini for my elderly parents so that we can see each other over skype. they have no internet connection and home, no broadband connection. they refuse to get it. my questions: are ipad minis unlocked so i can buy mobile broadband service on a month to month basis from any carrier? does anyone know of simpler solution? i wanted to get a desktop video telephone but that would involve getting broadband connection at their house which they do not want. i wanted that because it is easier to use. what is out there for old people who cant use computers and at this point can barely use the phone? i want this to keep an eye on them, i live in another country.

  • When restrictions are on, can specific apps be used?

I currently have restrictions set that only allow apps with an ages 12+ Rating. Is there a way to leave the restriction setting as is, but allow certain apps? Because of it's browser, 1passeword is 17+ which on this setting is blocked. Can I allow it somehow?

Just to confirm this, if you set the restriction for Installing Apps to the Off position, then App Store icon will dissapear from the Home screen entirely. so no not even Free Apps can be downloaded.
Setting it to On, is the equivalent of doing nothing, so it becomes pointelsss to set restrictions if they are not enforced shall we say.
The only way to prevent purchases of payed apps but still allow free Apps, is to remove the Payment option form the associated apple ID.  That way there is no way to pay so no way to download paid apps.
Go to  Settings->iTunes and App Stores->Apple ID->View Apple ID->Payment Information-> Set it to None.
