Im afraid if you are looking to put video or music content on your Lumia 710 you will have to download the files onto your PC and transfer them accross using Zune software. However you can still stream content rather than download it.
You can also purchase music in the Marketplace application.

I can download a music video from Limewire and drag it to itunes, but it won't download onto my ipod. Thank you, thats what I suspected so will return the device. In an area where internet coverage is poor, like holiday house where it takes 2 hours to download a movie, its easier to use the original apple tv, download movies at home then bring it to the holiday house. It also takes too long to download music from the cloud and movies streaming cause issues. I only have my MacBook air and an an ipad to travel with as an alternative, so doesn't really work for me.

Unfortunately downgrading the OS on the device is not supported by Apple.
I can tell you this - Google can turn up a whole world of possibilities if you are looking for an answer to something that is not supported.
Before you do anything else - were you able to download other content before you upgraded? Music? Movies? As far as I know - the content in that article was the only content that was available in India anyway and updating the iOS should have made no bearing on what you can download.

There is no reason that you cannot use a common external HDD for your communal data. Naturally you would have to disconnect it from one MBP and then connect it to the other when you wish to access the data or perform a download.
Any compatible external HDD will do, but make certain that you format it in Disk Utility to Mac OS Extended (Journaled).

Can't download music from Itunes to Ipod

When I try syncing the music I keep getting the following message:
"Attempting to copy to the disk "Logical Disk" failed. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation. ITunes could not save to your Music Folder because you do not have write access. Check the permissions on your Music Folder and folders in your Music Folder and then try copying this file again."
I went to the Music folder and looked at the security tab and it looks as though all the access privileges are there. I'm not sure where exactly to go or what to do. Does anyone know how I can attain the necessary access privileges?

Are you on an administrator-priveledges user account on your computer?
If not, try logging into an admin user, and see if that makes any difference.
Just a guess, but this might be caused by drive letter confusion on your computer.
Try assigning your iPod a different drive letter, following the steps here:

Usually they ask for your credit card security code (the 3 or 4-digit code on the back or front of your card). Can you check the wording carefully and see if that's what they're asking for? Try putting it in and see what happens.
