Can iphone sync with Mac and PC itunes for different data ?

I have a Mac at home where I keep my music and personal email and then a PC at work where I keep my 1000+ contacts and calendar in Outlook. Will I be able to set my MBP Itunes to sync .mac email and music/tv/podcasts/etc. only while at the same time set the itunes at work to sync Outlook contacts and calendar? This would give me the perfect information that I need on my iphone.
any help is appreciated, thanks

I have a similar problem in that I'm using a MacPro to sync iTunes with my iPod yet I have a MacBook Pro that I run Parallels/WinXP Pro to run Outlook and my CRM of choice, ACT.
CompanionLink (www.companionlink.com) has just announced an update that will allow PC users to sync ACT, Goldmine with the iPod through Outlook on the same PC. The synching works in both directions so that contact or calendar changes you make on the iPod will be updated on your PC CRM program.
I've been using Companionlink for years on PCs to sync to various Palm devices including my current phone, the Treo 700P (Palm). It works well and tech support is friendly and effective.
Since switching to Macs in January and run all of my PC apps on Parallels/WinXP, the CompanionLink software has worked very well in this environment.
As soon as iPhones are in stock near me, I plan on switching from Verizon to ATT just so that I can have an iPhone. I hate the Treo so bad that I'm willing to pay the $175 Verizon service termination fee to get the iPhone.
One thing that I will miss, although I don't use it much, is the ability to use my Treo via Bluetooth connection to my MacBook as a modem for broadband access while on the road. I've been told that you cannot do this with the iPhone.
Cheers.

  • Can't sync with iCloud and iphoto

i have an iphone 4, fully updated with ios5 at its newest update whatever that is.
i just backed up my whole iphone to the cloud and then reset the whole phone and restored it from the cloud. so now everythign on my phone is from the cloud. i even bought itunes match.
my one problem is, now i can't sync iphoto with my phone. i usually like to have my iphone have my last 20 events from iphoto, but now that my whole phone is on the cloud, when i connect it to my computer, it starts to sync from itunes instead of icloud, and then changes everything.
i connected my phone to the computer and itunes popped up and it started syncing everything from itunes and replacing everything. so i had to stop it, and restore my whole phone again
it's so complicated. i just want to have my phone sync with the cloud, but i also want iphoto to sync with my phone, but it seems i can only do that through itunes, which i can't sync with itunes if i'm syncing with the icloud

    Brad...
now i can't sync iphoto with my phone
    You can sync from iPhoto.
    Tap Settings > iCloud
Make sure Photo Stream is switched on.
when i connect it to my computer, it starts to sync from itunes instead of icloud, and then changes everything.
Once you have iCloud setup, there's no need to connect your iPhone to a computer and sync media using iTunes. Everything is synced via a W-Fi network.

Help.  I just got a new iPad 2 and set up sync with iCloud and no password.  Now asking for a password and I never set one up.  What password does it want: iTunes, iPhone (no real password there either).  Tried as many passwords as I could think with the iPad locking me out since I don't have the password!  Would like to use the iPad but can't get on to try it.

So I guess it will only be new apps that I download that are allowed to give me their updates while 13 updates wait for me on an ID I can no longer access.
    Yes...  sorry.
In the future, if need be, you can re download your purchases for free  >  Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Question about future of push email & syncing with Mac and PC on iPhone

I have two questions that I've tried to get answers from at two different Apple Stores, but I get many different answers - so I thought I'd give it a shot here.
    1) I understand that push email is coming in the 2.0 software release this summer - but will that only be for Microsoft Exchange customers? My small business uses DreamHost (a private mail server company) that runs postfix under Debian Linux and supports Courier IMAP...our IT guy told me this, I'm not sure what it all means - he's a PC guy...
    2) Can I sync my iPhone to my Entourage Mail & Contacts from my Mac AND sync my iTunes from my PC? Is this a bad idea?
    THANKS!

What happens when you try to sign in with the new account on your phone?  Any error message?

  • Sync library with mac and Windows, iTunes 12

    Hi everyone,
I recently got my iPhone 6, running iOS 8.1.2. I have a mac and a Windows computer and I want to sync libraries on both without having to erase them. The fixes I found on the internet are either for those who have two of the same platform, either mac or Windows, or are for the older versions of iTunes. Third party sync apps didn't work. I don't know where in the new iTunes files the library ID is saved so I can make duplicates. I'm pretty hopeless. Any suggestions?

Supposedly there is a hidden library ID that is used when syncing but if you change the ID on a second library to match the first one it won't make it the same library.  If you really want the same library on both computers there are a number of ways to do it, but not the brainless Star-Trek computer type solution where you just wish it and it just appears.
The only true way to achieve this is to use exactly the same library with both computers. This might be achieved through using a common external hard drive or network drive.  Oh, I guess you could keep on copying it back and forth between the two computers too.
I have never needed to do any of this so I can only make suggestions.  You could create a library and then copy it to the other computer.  It may establish with the same ID.  The only thing is if you then start modifying the library and the two drift apart in content, playlists, ratings, etc.  They may still both sync but obviously things won't match any longer and if you add one new song to your library one one computer it may end up doing major syncing with the phone.

  • ICal syncing with mac and iphone problem - duplicating all alarms.

I have a mobile me account linked to my office mac, my home mac and my iPhone and my wife's iphone. I have been using this to sync all my contacts and calendar for 18 months with no problems until just after christmas. It suddenly duplicated all my contacts and all my iCal alarms. To solve it I had to use time machine to take my ical and address book back a few days and then force everything to update from that machine.
This I thought solved it but now three weeks later it has duplicated all my alarms again. Why is this happening and how do I stop it? It does not inspire confidence in this system if it randomly changes things. How do I know it will not suddenly delete something? It is also very frustrating and time consuming to reset all the data back a few days.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

The synchronization between iCal, MobileMe, and iPhone is one of the biggest embarrassments and disgraces Apple has yet to deal with.
For over a year, I have been battling duplicates with little success. Add to all this MS Entourage, which I had to install last year because Mac Mail doesn't play nicely with Exchange server. (My company uses Exchange for our mail, etc.) To be clear, the duplicate problem existed prior to the addition of Entourage 2008. So you are out of luck, Koolaide Fans; you can't point the finger at MS in this case.
After 6 months of struggling and fighting with Entourage (and because there is no native version of MS Project or Visio for Mac) I finally had to install VM Ware with Windows 7, MS Office 2007, Visio, Project, etc. The MS apps work perfectly under the Windows 7 session. So, I my functionality for business has been restored. However, I am left wondering why I have a Mac if it can't provide me the functionality I need for such basic things as Email, calendars, contacts, and tasks. I am to the point where I am basically doing everything in the VMWare session under Windows.
I am very pleased with my Mac's ability to do video editing, graphics, and sound using Adobe products. But again, I work in mainstream corporate America where 90% of the marketshare is still PC/Windows.
In the end, I am hoping someone from Apple can come forward soon and say "This is EXACTLY how you need to configure your Entourage/iCal/MobileMe/iPhone so that you aren't crippled by duplicates and other nonsense...." It really is ridiculous.

  • Can I sync to Mac AND PC at the same time.

This is probably a long shot, but can I synchronise my contacts and calendar my iPhone 3G to BOTH my home Mac (Address Book and iCal) AND my PC at work (Outloook)?
    Thanks

Actually, this is not entirely accurate. If your work email is carried on an Exchange server, you can set up the mail account so that it is pushed to the iPhone, and likewise with the Calendar and Contacts. (Not sure yet if you can sync both the Outlook calendar AND iCal, or the Outlook contacts AND Address Book, although I doubt it.) However, even if you choose to sync email, etc. through Exchange, you can sync your music on a Mac through iTunes.

  • Sync with Mac and Windows issue

I bought my wife an iPod (our first). I use a MacBook Pro and she uses a Windows desktop. I copied all of my iTunes music onto the new iPod for her from my Mac. I downloaded iTunes to her Windows machine and tried to sync with it, but it says the iPod must be reformatted for Windows and that will wipe out all of her music files. Is there a way that I can copy the music files to the Windows machine so that she doesn't have to use my computer to sync? These are not protected files. All were copied from our CDs.

OK first thing to know is that Windows machines can not (without $$$ software) read Mac formatted iPod. However Macs can read and use Windows formatted iPods just fine. So go ahead and format the iPod on the windows machine.
Next, you will want to transfer your library from the Mac to the Windows machine. If your library is smaller than the total capacity of the iPod, then you can plug the iPod into her Windows machine and then configure it (a checkbox) to enable disk mode. Eject the iPod and plug into the Mac. The iPod should show up in the Mac's iTunes, but also on the desk top as a disk drive.
At this point it is a simple matter to copy the iTunes folder from the Mac onto the iPod. Eject the iPod, then plug it back into the Windows machine, and copy the stuff off the iPod (as a disk drive) to the Windows hard drive.

  • IPhone Syncing with .MAC

I was surprised that this was not available. The iPhone should be able to wirelessly sync contact and calendars with .MAC.

Anyone know if you can sync iPhone with multiple
    Macs?
I use a Mac in the office as well as at home. I
occasionally work from home and would like to be able
to keep the iPhone and all versions of Address Book
and iCal current, regardless of from where I'm
    working.
I've asked this question in some other threads but
    noone seems to know.
    Thanks.
    yes you can

  • Outlook/iPhone syncing with Exchange AND .PST

I'm having trouble achieving a desireable configuration after my company upgraded to an Exchange server.  Here's my set up:  I use my personal laptop for both business and personal use (Win XP + Outlook 2007).  I also have an iPhone 4S.  In addition to my company email, I have several POP3 accounts on different servers that are not related to my main job.
Before the Exchange migration, I had Outlook setup to poll all of the POP3 accounts (including the old company email) leaving a copy on the servers for a few days.  I also had my iPhone set up with the same email accounts so that I received email on both places.  My Outlook calendar, containning both personal and business events synced perfectly to my iPhone.  Lastly, I used a separate Contacts folder (~300, mostly personal) to hold only those contacts that I wanted to sync to the iPhone (my full contact list in Outlook is 1500+ and not wanted on the phone).  This setup worked well for years.
Now after my company upgraded to an Exchange server, I am having trouble replicating this setup.  It appears that Outlook now uses a different storage file (.OST) and is using "cached mode" as set up my our IT department.  All of my old contacts, calendars and email folders are still stored in the original .PST file that now appears under a separate "Personal Folders" heirarchy in Outloook.  The other POP3 email accounts are still using the .pst file and Exchange is using the new .ost ("Mailbox") file.  Ok, so far.  I can live with this.  However, after I synced my iPhone (using iTunes) all of my contacts and calendar events were deleted from the phone.  Not Good.
For email, I set up a Exchange email account on the iPhone and the company email is coming through OK, as are the previous POP3 accounts.  But the contact list and calendar is not working as expected.  I want the contact and calendar data from my .PST file to sync to my iPhone - NOT the Exchange folders.  The reason is that I do not want my personal contacts stored somewhere on my company's Exchange server.  The same can be said of my personal calendar items.  When I added the Exchange account to the iPhone, I turned off all but the "Mail" option.  (Contacts, Calendar and Reminders are off for this account.)
It appears that in order to sync these via iTunes, I have to copy/move them into the .OST contact/calendar folders, which I don't want to do.  The iTunes sync options for my phone will not allow me to choose anything from the .PST file.
How can I get the contact and calendar info from my PST file to sync to my phone?

    roknjohn,
We need to skip the whole Exchange discussion and ost and pst files. This is not needed to troubleshoot the problem.
iTunes will sync with your Outlook default account. Do not confuse the default account with default data file (pst or ost if it comes to Exchange server).
Your solution would be to make the email account where you store your contacts and calendars as the default one.
This can be done in Outlook, Tools, Account Settings.
Make sure you are in the Accounts tab not the Data Files tab.
If you start changing default data files for your different accounts it will get messy. Besides Exchange will not allow you to do easily.
    Please post your results.

  • Ipod sync with mac and PC?

When my old PC died at Christmas I chose to replace it with a MacBook. I have transferred all my music onto my new Mac, but all of the .wmp files, of course, won't play in itunes. I thought I could use my IPOD as a hard disc to save all these songs, take them to my PC at work and upload them into itunes, which will automatically convert them into workable files (.avi?). I could then resave them in this new format on my IPOD, and then upload them back onto my Mac. Will this work??? Can an Ipod be used interchangeably with a Mac and a PC?
    Thanks so much!
New to Macs and loving it!

Can an Ipod be used interchangeably with a Mac and a PC?
Yes, when the iPod is formatted for the PC. Note that the Windows version of iTunes will not convert protected WMA content.

  • Can Iphone sync with any other calendar

Hi I was wondering if the new Iphone 3G is able to sync with any other calendars other than outlook. If there is a program or something.
    Thanks for the help

Connect your iPhone to your computer with the USB-dock cable. In iTunes select your iPhone. You will see contact and calendar syncing in one of the tabs.

  • IPod Nano Sync with Mac, but iPod formatted for Windows

I finally changed to the Mac platform and all my iPods and iPhones were synced with a Windows based computer. While my iPhones were not a problem, my iPod Nano (4GB 2nd generation) seemed not be recognized by my iMac.
I can't seem to get my iMac to show the iPod under Devices to reformat it. Anyone have any advice to give?
I have plugged it in to a my Windows based work laptop and it seems to work fine. However I don't sync with that machine and I have already sold my old Windows based computer it was synced to.
Thanks in advance for the help.

I have three iPods: 40GB iPod photo, 2GB black iPod nano and 1GB iPod shuffle. Each one has it's own playlist to auto sync songs from (technically, the 40GB iPod is synchronized manually, but the other two have playlists to sync automatically from). They each have different names so iTunes knows they're each different. So, you shouldn't have any trouble keeping just two iPods separate with your Mac mini or iMac.
