Can iphoto give a picture an incorrect date?

I received a picture on my iphone from someone and they said that the photo was taken yesterday but when I import the photo into iphoto it labels and sorts the picture as though it was taken in 2005. I have searched the internet and this does not appear to be a common problem. I'm just wondering if this could possibly be an issue with iphoto?

Thanks for the quick reply. From everything that I have read you are probably right though I received other pictures from same person which they said were taken with the same phone and they all had current dates. I know that I'm probably grasping at straws but is there anyway it could have been an issue with iphoto or is it more likely the photo was actually taken in 2005?
Thanks Sam

  • Can anyone give me some documents for data cluster

    Hi,
can anyone give me some documents for data cluster?
    ths!
    regards!

    Hi ,
The following is a documentation on the <b>Data Cluster</b>:
<b>Data clusters</b> are specific to ABAP. Although it is possible to read a cluster database using SQL statements, only ABAP can interpret the structure of the data cluster.
You can store <b>data clusters</b> in special databases in the ABAP Dictionary. These are called ABAP cluster databases, and have a prescribed structure:
    <u><b>Cluster Databases</b></u> ( I have explained the cluster databse below )
This method allows you to store complex data objects with deep structures in a single step, without having to adjust them to conform to the flat structure of a relational database. Your data objects are then available systemwide to every user. To read these objects from the database successfully, you must know their data types.
You can use cluster databases to store the results of analyses of data from the relational database. For example, if you want to create a list of your customers with the highest revenue, or an address list from the personnel data of all of your branches, you can write ABAP programs to generate the list and store it as a data cluster. To update the <b>data cluster</b>, you can schedule the program to run periodically as a background job. You can then write other programs that read from the data cluster and work with the results. This method can considerable reduce the response time of your system, since it means that you do not have to access the distributed data in the relational database tables each time you want to look at your list.
    <b>Cluster Database :</b>
Cluster databases are special relational databases in the ABAP Dictionary that you can use to store data clusters. Their line structure is divided into a standard section, containing several fields, and one large field for the <b>data cluster.</b>
    <b>Creating a Directory of a Data Cluster</b>
To create a directory of a data cluster from an ABAP cluster database, use the following statement:
    Syntax
    <b>IMPORT DIRECTORY INTO <dirtab>
                     FROM DATABASE <dbtab>(<ar>)
                     [CLIENT <cli>] ID <key>.</b>
This creates a directory of the data objects belonging to a data cluster in the database <dbtab> in the internal table <dirtab>. You must declare <dbtab> using a TABLES statement.
    To save a <b>data cluster</b> in a database, use the <b>EXPORT TO DATABASE</b> statement .
For <ar>, enter the two-character area ID for the cluster in the database. The name <key> identifies the data in the database. Its maximum length depends on the length of the name field in <dbtab>. The CLIENT <cli> option allows you to disable the automatic client handling of a client-specific cluster database, and specify the client yourself. The addition must always come directly after the name of the database.
The IMPORT statement also reads the contents of the user fields from the database table.
If the system is able to create a directory, SY-SUBRC is set to 0, otherwise to 4.
The <b>internal table</b> <dirtab> must have the ABAP Dictionary structure CDIR.

  • Can iphoto '9 read pictures edited in iphoto '11

I recently took some pictures for a family member.  I have iPhoto '11 and they have iPhoto '9.  I edited and burned these pics onto a DVD for her.  She can't seem to pull them up in iPhoto '9.  So the question is, can you view pics in iPhoto '9 that were edited in iphoto '11?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes iPhoto 09 can certainly view pics edited in 11, but it can't read the 11 Library.
So, if you burned these to DVD using iPhoto's 'Share -> Burn'command, what you've done is burn a mini iPhoto library to disk.
Try export the pics: File -> Export to a folder on the desktop, then burn that folder to disk with the Finder.

  • Can't find the pictures I just imported

I'm using PSE 4.0 on XP.
    I had 60 jpg's in a directory.
I used Organizer's Folder Location view to get to the images.
I then added all of those images to the catalog. They all came in fine.
I then switched to Date(Newest) view and did some editting on some of the pictures. I also tagged a number of the pictures.
I exitted from PSE. I went back in a bit later and now I can't see my pictures in the Date(Newest) view. Most of the images have a 5/13/2006 date so they should be at the top. But the image at the top of the list is dated 5/15. If I go to Import Batch view I can see the pictures. And if I go back to Folder Location view I can also see the pictures. I tried to add the images to the catalog a second time but none of them were added. I got a message that the files were either of the wrong time or they already existed in the catalog. I've used the Folder Location and the Add Unmanaged Files to Catalog method many times in the past and I've never lost sight of any of the pictures.
    Any ideas?

    Hi, Colin.
OK, I had tagged all of these pictures.
So I picked one of the tags. Yes, the picture was visible.
And then I saw what the problem is.
Most of the pictures were taken on 5/13/2006.
But PSE is now showing the date as 5/13/2005.
I checked the files on the hard drive itself.
They definitely show the 2006 date. My pc has the correct date on it as well.
I did do a 'Smart Fix' on a lot of these pictures.
But not on all of them. There were three pictures that I did not edit at all. I just added a tag to them.
Thought I'd enter this reply before I try to do anything. I haven't done the Recover yet.

  • Can Iphoto display the date and time of a pic on the pic?

I know I can get info and see a pics info, but can Iphoto display the date and time of a pic on the pic itself?

Use the Photos->Batch Change menu option to set the Title to Date and Time. That will give you what you want under each thumbnail.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: iPhoto 8's new option in the library rebuild pane, "Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" may make this tip obsolete. We'll know when users have occasion to use it and see if that's the case.

  • Incorrect dates on picture file

Whenever I import pictures from my camera into iphoto it marks them with a date of December 1, 1921. The camaera company (Samsung) says its not a problem with the camera but a problem with iphoto. Any way to correct this without having to manually change the date of each picture?

I have a FujiFilm FinePix S9000. Image Capture (and iPhoto) transfers .jpgs just fine from the camera. The date modified and the date created are correct. BUT, both programs transfers the .AVI movie files with bogus dates. The original date set by the camera is lost, and it gives a new date as 2 days in the FUTURE past Today's date! This has made a mess of my home movies since I got my new iMac. My iBook G3 never had this problem. AK!
I just tried your trick with changing the date format on my camera. I tried all three choices that the camera allowed:
month/day/year was was causing Image Capture (iPhoto) to set the modified movie date as 2 days from today (in the Finder).
year/month/day caused the movie date to be today but 4 hours from now (in the Finder).
day/month/year which set the date as correctly today.
BUT, none of this helped, because none of these dates assigned to the file by the Fnder was the actual date of the movie itself. This correct movie date can be seen when I open up the camera card that loads as a removable. I can physically drag the movie file to my Movies folder from here, but there is no creation date assigned, only a modification date (which can change with any edit).

  • I have a large number of photos imported into iPhoto with the dates wrong.  How can I adjust multiple photos (with varying dates) to the same, correct, date?

I have a large number of photos imported into iPhoto with the dates wrong.  How can I adjust multiple photos (with varying dates) to the same, correct, date?

If I understand you correctly, when you enter a date in the Adjust Date and Time window, the picture does not update with the date you enter.  If that is the case then something is wrong with iPhoto or your perhaps your library.
How large a date change are you putting in?  iPhoto currently has an issue with date changes beyond about 60 years at a time.  If the difference between the current date on the image and the date you are entering is beyond that range that may explain why this is not working.
If that is not the case:
Remove the following to the trash and restart the computer and try again:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.iphoto
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iPhoto (There may be more than one. Remove them all.)
---NOTE: to get to the "home > library" hold down option on the keyboard and click on "Go" > "Library" while in the Finder.
    Let me know the results.

Make sure the EHD is formatted OS X Extended (journaled) and run Disk Utilty on the EHD and repair the disk.  If that fails to help I'd try the following:
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button,
navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the external HD as the location of the newly rebild library.
    Click on the Create button.
Note 1: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.
Note 2:  Your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

  • I have several albums in a folder in iphoto.  The pictures are ordered, labeled, and dated. I want to put them on an external hard drive and have them stay in order w/labels. How can I do that?  Thank You

I have several "albums" in a "folder "in iphoto.  The pictures, and videos (from a camera and smart phone) are ordered, labeled, and dated. I want to put them on an external harddrive. How can I do that and keep them in order, etc. What I have tried reorders them, separates them into the camera pictures, phone pictures, and movies. We are not sauvy in Apple or iphoto so this has been extremely frustrating for us.

Files on disk have no order - they are given the order by the viewing program - finder on the Mac - using the finder you can view files by many different sorts - file name - date created - date moified - size - etc
Deciede how you are going to sort them when you view them and then export them so that sort works for you
Generally using an alpha sort to view and exporting using the sequential nameing option is the solution - see the user tip on exporting for the options available

  • IPhoto update from Mavericks deleted my library. How can I get my pictures back?

Soo my iPhoto just decided not to find my photo library anymore.
When I open iPhoto, it only opens a windwo where I can decide which library I want to open, but gives me no choices, the list is empty. Normally this window opens when my external HD is connected to my macbook since then there's two iPhotos available, but now it just doesnt find even one.
I had another problem with the iPhoto on my external HD, i wanted to open it but a window opened to tell me that my library is used by another programm or that the library can't be read anymore. I was able to save those pictures by showing the contents and copying the pictures.
Buuuut now on the macbook, when I do the left click thing to open the contents of the package, there are no pictures in it at all, no folder has pictures in it. When I copy the version from time machine, nothing changes. iPhoto has a size of 1.7 Gb, which is way to small. God dammit.
How can I get my pictures back?

    Thank you Terence!
    Okay, so here the details:
    iPhoto Version 9.5.1
    OS X Version 10.9.1
So here what I did, detailed. (pardon my english, I'm swiss)
I downloaded Mavericks, few days later updated iPhoto (the iPhoto icon was orange before and turned blue after the update). All went well, until one month later, all of a sudden, I was not able to open my iPhoto on the external harddisk. A window opened to tell me that either my library is being used by another programm or that it can't be read anymore. To solve this problem iPhoto tells me to do several things, for example shut down the computer and then open iPhoto again, or set up my library again or open iPhoto by pressing command and alt. But non of those instructions helped. So I opened the contents, I looked for the folder with the masters of my pictures and copied the whole thing onto another harddisk.
I think I got those Pics saved, but I still can't open iPhoto on the external harddisk.
Oh and by the way, the iPhoto icon on my external harddisk looks different now, it's three pictures in a row and the one on top shows a redish flower.
So now, two days later I try to open the iPhoto on my regular macbook. A window pops up and says that I have to choose a library that I want to open. (iPhoto usually did that when I had my external harddisk connected since there were two different librarys then, one on my external, one on my computer) But now, instead of showing me the library's I can choose from it only shows nothing, no list or anything i could even choose. And then below there's this button that says something like "create a new library".
    So what I did:
I open the contents and looked for the masters of my pictures, but there weren't any pictures at all. The iPhoto has a size of 1.7 GB which I think is too small for all the Pics and videos i stored in there.
I tried to get the IPhoto from Time Machine, but nothing changed. Iphoto still's 1.7 GB.
I opened the file "Pictures" in the Finder, but there's no such file like "iPhoto library", like it's deleted or something like that.
So i think that I used iPhoto usually, nothing speciall. I imported Pictures from my iPhone or camera and left them there.
    Does that help?

  • How can I delete damaged picture files without opening iPhoto?

I was downloading a few pics from my roommates professional-quality camera (I'm assume the file sizes are huge) and, of course, I had to download all 150 or so, instead just the few I needed. Anyway, I got a message that some of the files were "damaged" and couldn't be downloaded. Now, when I open iPhoto it either just locks up or shows some of the files downloaded, doesn't show others, and then locks up. So, what I need to do is just delete all pictures from that date without opening iPhoto .... any ideas how to do this?

1 - In the future if you want only certain photos use image capture (in your applications folder) - with it you can selective load photos
2 - try rebuilding your library - launch iPhoto while depressing the option (alt) and command (apple) keys and use the first three rebuild options
Do not use the finder to modify the contents of the iPhoto library

  • Incorrect dates on iPhoto video when accessed by iMovie '09??

    Hi,
I have a few videos in iPhoto. All have the correct time and date.
iMovie '09 has access to these, but is showing the incorrect date on some of them (even though iPhoto is showing the correct date). The date is the same - 31 December 1903.
It has been like this since I first used iMovie '09.
    Can anybody help?
    Cheers.
BTW, how do I contact Apple support about something like this? I can't find any e-mail support.
    Message was edited by: NeddySeagoon

NeddySeagoon - wondering if you found the answer to this?
I too have iPhoto videos showing up in iMovie fine, but the dates are wrong in iMovie (correct in iPhoto).
Also, I have updated video titles in iPhoto, but those titles are not showing up consistently in iMovie. Perhaps related issue, I'm not sure.
Any idea if this could be a permissions issue? (Video is stored on an external drive). Or something else?
    Thanks!

  • Can't see my pictures on iphoto

I cannot view my pictures on iphoto until i click on the event album and then click on the dotted outline of what would be a photo and then i can finally see my photo on the big screen. I dont know how to see my pictures through the album though. I'd like to fix it because i can't view a picture unless i click on each one individually. Also, my whole iphoto layout looks grey and black. None of the links for events, photos, faces or places has any color to it, everything is grey as if it's not active and not working. Please help me out!

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
Also, my whole iphoto layout looks grey and black. None of the links for events, photos, faces or places has any color to it, everything is grey
That's a design decision by Apple. IPhoto menu -> Provide iPhoto Feedback

OK, restart in Safe Mode, this will clear some caches. It's possible one or more is corrupt. To restart in Safe Mode when you hear the start up tone hold down the Shift Key until you see a progress bar. Let it fully boot then restart normally and test.
Also I am assuming you have checked Finder - Preferences  - General and see what boxes are checked in "Show these items on desktop." You can also mount an item in Disk Utility, simply highlight it and then look in the File menu for Mount.....

  • KCLP - can someone give me the big picture?

In a project I have to review I stumbled into some log files displayed with Tx KCLP. It's some "external data transfer" logs.
Unfortunately I miss the big picture and I did not find much on KCLP. Can someone give me a hint what's the big picture, e.g. what kind of applications use the KCLP logs.
    Thanks Frank

I know KCLP is used by CO-PA to import external data via KEFC.
    THe bigger picture is
    - provide an import structure
    - define some transfer rules
    - post the data
