Can iphoto6 access a library generated by iphoto08?

I am trying to access my photo's on my macbook (has iphoto 08) from my mini (iphoto6) but I the iphoto libary seems to be shaded out. I can do it in reverse --my macbook can select the mini's iphoto library to review.
Does anyone know if there is a compatibility issue with different library versions iphoto?
Thanks for the help!

the iPhoto library is updated with each new version of iPhoto so it is not compatible with iPhoto '06 once the library has been updated for use with iPhoto '08. So you when updated to iPhoto '08 with your MacBook it should have asked and warned you before you opened the library for the first time that this would make it incompatible with older versions of iPhoto.

    Hi all,
I was getting messages that my Aperture Library was full, so made an appointment at my closest Mac store, but have to wait 2 days. They advise you to update saoftware before coming in, so I updated to Aperture 5.3.1. When I open it, I'm asked to update my library. When I select that option, I'm told that my library is full. Now I can't access my library at all. What should I do to access my library? Do I have to uninstall 5.3.1 and reinstall an older version?
Another problem I have recently encountered ... all the up and down scrollers on various screens have disappeared. They reappear fleetingly when I use my up and down arrowa, but I can't always catch them. How do I get my scrollers back?

Thank you so much for your patient guidance and screen captures.
    You are welcome.
My external hard drive is properly formatted for Aperture, so I am currently copying my Aperture library to it. That will take hours since it is copying 101 GB.
    o.k.
I understand that I need to clean some space on my internal hard drive and reformat the Aperture library to get back in operation.
You need to upgrade the Aperture library to be used with Aperture 3.5.1.  That will happen automatically, when you first double click the copied lirary to open it in Aperture.
I'll also need to back up my external drive with a new external drive if I make space on my internal drive by removing some photos from there and store them on my current external drive.
What do you use for backup? If you are using TimeMachine it is better to have only the Time Machine backup on the Time Machine drive . In that case would I put the Aperture library and other data on a new drive and keep the old drive for backup.

I had my itunes library on an external drive, I now have a new Windows 7 computer. How can I access my library?

    Hello, robertfromboulder city.
Thank you for the question.  You can direct iTunes to read your media off your external drive.  To do this, follow the instructions below.  See the section in the first article labeled Discovering and changing the iTunes Media folder location.

  • After an iTunes update I can't access my library as iTunes can't find my .itl file

After an iTunes update I now. Can't  access my library as iTunes can't find my .itl file. Any ideas how to rectify this?

Your iTunes Library.itl file will normally be at C:\Users\<User>\Music\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl. If it isn't there should it be somewhere else (you ought to know if you deliberately moved it) or is there a Previous iTunes Libraries folder containing backups made during iTunes updates.

  • HELP! can't access iphoto library back up

I backed up my whole iphoto library (17K pix) onto a G drive so I could have more space on my laptop.  When I was finished, I checked the G drive to make sure all the pix were there before deleting off the computer.  They were.  Today I went to access my old photos on my G drive and when I clicked on it, I got a message, can't access this library, it is being used as a time machine back up. What happened to my pix? Can I get them back for use? HELP!!!!

Have you opened this one over a wireless connection in the past?
A strong warning: If you're trying to edit the Library (that is, make albums, move photos around, keyword, make books or slideshows etc.) or edit individual photos in it via Wireless be very careful. Dropouts are a common fact of wireless networking, and should one occur while the app is writing to the database then your Library will be damaged. Simply, I would not do this with my Libraries.

  • I can't access my library on this computer. How do I get support that I makes sense?

What am I supposed to do here? I want to be able to sync my iPod Classic but I can't get any library information. Sorry, but this is getting to be more and more BS. I hope you all enjoy discussing my problem. If anybody can help me, let me know if there is some way to do that. Thank you.

Just so you understand this correctly, this is Support - here. However, your question needs to makes sense, and for that, we (or at least I) need more information.
    To add to TheGraywolf's post:
What do you mean by "Can't access your Library on this computer"? If you mean songs that you've purchased from the iTunes Store, have you authorised your computer so that songs download from the Store?
If you can't "access" the Library, do you get an error message when you try? What does it say? (Precise text please.)
Have you previously been able to access this Library?

    No

  • I changed itunes options the other day to only synch one playlist and now when I open itunes I can't access my library.

I changed itunes options the other day to only synch one playlist and now when I open itunes I can't access my library or any playlists.

I think I fixed this problem a few years ago by literally copying and pasting all my audio content into the iTunes library folder. I can't remember what is called of the top of my head and I don't know if this will still work.

  • Can't access photo library after last update

I have a Macbook Air 13 and am running the most current Maverick (10.9.5) before Yosemite was released.
I take all updates as they arrive and are listed by AppStore.
After the last iPhoto update that came about the time Yosemite arrived I can no longer access my photo Library.
When opening iPhoto it give me a choice to upgrade my library or quit. So I tried to upgrade and after about 30 seconds iPhoto simply goes away.
I am traveling and can not do the large Yosemite upgrade, in case that is the issue, but need access to my photos.
When I plug in and sync my iPhone5S  (which is running the latest updates as well) it seems to sync but I have no way to import the photos.
I am guessing this is related to the last update but have no idea what to do in order to recover.
iPhoto 9.6 now show incompatible but I don't recall seeing this earlier.
I am running iTunes 12.0.1 and it can not access the photo settings. It just sits with the busy spinner.

iPhoto 9.6 only runs on Yosemite.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Can't access shared library to import.  Why?

When trying to access sharing, library will not come up in iTunes so that it can be imported.  Can anyone tell me why?

    Rebel,
iTunes has two kinds of sharing:  regular sharing, which allows listening but not copying, and Home Sharing, which does allow copying.
Make sure you are using Home Sharing, and that both computers are authorized to the relevant account.

  • Home with multiple user/screen name Mac. ATV can only access the library of the person using the computer? Seems like a HUGH flaw??

We have a Mac that is set up to allow multiple users with their own log in and settings. (imagine a family of four).  So if my wife sits down at the Mac to work. Then I can't access my iTunes library though the apple tv because my screen name and iTunes has to be shut down!! Seems like a huge oversight in the device?! Is there a way around this? Seems like it makes the apple TV nearly useless unless for a multiple person household.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You don't need to shut down your user account for your wife or anyone else to use their user account.
If it isn't already set, go to system preferences > Users & Groups > Login Options and check 'Show fast user switching'. Then from the top RH corner of the menu bar you can switch between users at will.
Keeping a user account logged in should enable its iTunes library on the Apple TV.
(Note, I've never tried this with non admin accounts)

  • IPhoto can't access photo library

I recently updated iPhoto. Now it can't access my photo library. How do I fix this?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Can i access my library on creative cloud with elements

I have brushes, styles, patterns, etc. in my creative cloud library.  Can I access them with my photoshop elements 13?

You do not need ?&promoid=KRUVP at the end of the url but it should not matter.
One thing to check is if your hosts file is modified. Open the Command Prompt and type: notepad %systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
This will open a read-only copy of your host file in Notepad. Are there any entries in this file regarding adobe.com?
The other thing you can do is open the Developer Tools in the Chrome browser. On Windows press Ctrl + Shift to open them. Switch to the Network tab. Reload the page by pressing Ctrl + r. Check for any 4xx or 5xx errors which should be colored red.
Post screenshots of your results or send me a private forum message with the information.
