Can iPod be powered externally while downloading photos ?

Apple's Camera Connector is a great way to download photos from your digital camera to your iPod when you are travelling. However I have run into a problem when my camera (USB1) is using a memory card greater than 1Gb. The (fully charged) iPod runs out of charge before all the photos are transferred!!
I have not been able to find a device (Apple or other) which will power the iPod while the camera is downloading to the iPod via the Camera Connector and so allow the use of 2Gb or higher cards.
I'm a fairly new iPod user and so may have overlooked the obvious.......but can anyone offer a solution ?

i would read some info on lion and go to apple store and use lion becasue from what i have seen, used and heard its horrible. i HATE LION! horrible job, snow leopard is the best OS.. there is no more expose or spaces its all mashed into one.. launch pad is frekkin stupid, be warned dont add a folder to launch pad it takes all the content out of the folder and dumps it there.. its a waste of time you can click an icon on ur desktop versus click launch pad, make a bunch of moves to find what you want then click it.. we have mice and we are not on a touch screen.. this is stupid! i LOVE apple bus tthis is just a step backwards..

ICloud got stuck while downloading photos.

I restored my iphone yesterday and backed it up via iCloud. It began downloading photos from iCloud and the got stuck in the 8th picture. I don't even care about those photos so I went into iCloud settings and deleted my photos backup. But in my camera roll it still says "Downloading 8 of 576". I have restarted the phone multiple times and still the same problem.

Ok... I just had the same issue and after an hour of trying to figure this out... reading threads in forums... and nobody had a reliable solution... I got it...! LOL
Anyway, it's as simple as hooking up your iPhone to your computer and getting into iTunes > go to your iPhone > go to Photos > Put a check in the box for "Sync Photos from". Now make sure you pick your folder that you have previously used for photos. Otherwise, you can do what I did and just said "To heck with it" and created a blank folder with zero pictures in it. Last, just hit "Apply" down at the bottom of iTunes. Voila! Problem solved! No more spinning, no more downloading, no more killing the battery and no more headache!
Essentially, all you're doing is manually RE-SYNCING your photos and overriding the iCloud sync download to your iPhone.
P.S. - If you do as I did with the blank folder with zero photos, your phone's Camera Roll will have 0 photos in it. And if you had seperate Albums that you have created... they will be gone too. So, if you want to make sure to keep all of your photos and albums... MAKE SURE YOU SELECT THOSE FOLDERS THROUGH ITUNES BEFORE YOU HIT "APPLY"!

Can I turn off TV while downloading rental on Apple TV?

Is it okay to turn off my TV while downloading a rental on Apple TV? Will it continue downloading
or will I have to start the download over if I turn off the TV?

i recall that when i last rented a movie (HD rental), than i was able to change the source on the TV so that i could watch TV while the rental was downloading on the appletv.
whether turning the TV off would be seen as the same as changing the source would be something that you would need to check on your individual TV though.

Using WiFi can I contact my iMac and download photos?

I sit in the next room to my iMac where it is cold (!). I wish to attach a photo to an email I am writing. Is it possible to use WiFi to open up my iMac, find the photo via the desktop and move it into my iPad? I have iCloud available on both machines.

That should work. A box like icon will appear on the desktop. Double click on icon.
If for some reason a message asks you to format, do not format. Pull out the cable on the external hardrive. Ask for more advice here.

Ipod touch powers external speaker

Looking for tips, links to existing discussions, etc., on using the iPod Touch 3.5"" jack output to power an external speaker. How much power does the jack provide? Enough for a generic 20 watt rated speaker that's fairly efficient (say, 92db 1w/1m)? Or do I need to build a small wattage op-amp device to drive the speaker?

How can I tackle error 4960 while downloading Master Collection CV5?

I'm using a Macbook Pro. It took some 40 hours over 3 days to download CS5 (thorugh wifi) and at the end of it...it showed me the following error....
The following disc images could not be opened

Now it just say Extracting...it might take a while!!!
Is this error because i did not download at one go? Pl help... I do not want to go through the ordeal of another download!!

if your still having problems downloading i figured it out. the download you first tried was interrupted and didnt download completely so what you have to do is
1) in the top right of a mac click search and search for MasterCollection_CS5_ (or what you error is IE photoshop_12_1 ect...)
2) the click "show all in finder"
3) look for the .dmg file "MasterCollection_CS5_.dmg" and delete it
4) try to down load again WITHOUT interuption.

IPod 4G powers off while fully charged

Today my 6-week year old iPod Touch switched itself off even though the battery was fully charged. It then didn't respond to the home button or on/off switch, so I pressed the one/off switch and home the same time for at least 30 seconds to get it back on. Surprised it's having issues so quickly.

Mine has done exactly the same too. 1month-old iPod Touch 4. Was using the Facebook app and it just switched off and was unresponsive, didn't do anything when plugged into the wall, and didn't show up in iTunes when connected to the computer.
Thanks for posting how you fixed it. Mine's on again now, but as you say it's worrying that major problems like this are happening so soon to a new product.

Can I prevent iPhoto 11 from downloading my Flickr photos?

I'm very pleased to see that uploading photos to Flicker via iPhoto 11 works an awful lot better than it did with iPhoto 9. I still don't like the fact that it's synced - I would prefer it to just upload - but I think I can live with it.
What I can't live with, is iPhoto downloading photos from Flickr that I uploaded by other means in the past (ie via the website and Uploadr on a Windows PC). I noticed it was doing this by hitting the right arrow key while viewing the last photo in the Photos view and all these random old photos (which I haven't imported into iPhoto yet) popped up. When I view the information for these photos all that displays is one sentence: "This photo was downloaded from your Flickr account." (None of the metadata I manually entered on Flickr has been downloaded with the image.)
How do I stop this from happening? I already have the photos iPhoto is downloading from Flickr elsewhere on my SSD. SSD space is valuable so I don't want duplicates of these photos.
I tried deleting one of the offending photos in iPhoto and it disappeared from Flickr. I tried moving the original files out of the iPhoto package file and they don't seem to disappear from Flickr but they show up in iPhoto as errors. Rebuilding the library does not clear these errors.
Only 2 of the 121 sets I uploaded to Flickr before I started using iPhoto have been downloaded so far and my guess is that's because I opened the sets in iPhoto (to see what would happen). Can anyone confirm if this is correct? If I avoid opening any more old Flickr sets in iPhoto will that avoid the photos being downloaded to my SSD?
Otherwise, if iPhoto is slowly but surely going to download all my old Flickr photos, I will end up with about 7-9GB of duplicated files which I absolutely do not want.
If I want to stop syncing because of this issue, is there a way to remove the conncetion between iPhoto 11 and Flickr without losing any photos from Flickr? Including both photos I have uploaded without iPhoto (2006-2012) and with iPhoto (2012 onwards).

Welp, evidently I just like the sound of my own voice so here's one last post on the topic.
This whole thing was seriously driving me crazy so here's what I've done:
Went to http://www.flickr.com/account/sharing/ ---> Account links ---> edit
Next to "iPhoto OS X" clicked "Remove permission?" & confirmed at the next step
My understanding is that because I've revoked permission on Flickr's side, iPhoto doesn't have the power to wipe anything from Flickr now. I think this means I can also remove the account on iPhotos's side, and maybe even those duplicate photos it downloaded, but I'm not brave enough to test either of those out yet.
Moving forward, I think I'm going to use Flickery (http://www.flickeryapp.com) to upload my photos to Flickr instead: this means I can edit everything in iPhoto, add all the titles/descriptions/tags in iPhoto, then just do a one way upload using Flickery instead of a two way sync from iPhoto.

When downloading photos to iPhoto, they no longer appear as Events and I can't find the photos in "Photos".

Connect the external drive and then launch Disk Utility found in Applications/Utilities. Your external drive while show up in Disk Utility's side bar. It should be Mac OS Extended or OS Extended (Journaled).
If it isn't:
Then select it and click the 'Erase tab' at the top.
Select Mac OS Extended-Journaled formatting from the Volume Format menu.
Then click the oval Erase button at the lower right. Just remember-this will erase the drive!

Can't get iPhoto'9 to load photos from camera chip

I can't get my iMac to download photos from the camera chip. The camera chip is a 4GB SD Dane-Elec HC. I am trying to load the photos using an IOGEAR external device.
This method has been working fine when I try to download photos from a 2GB chip of the same name. But with the 4GB chip, nothing happens

Likely the IOGEAR device is not compatible with 4GB (or higher) cards. Try another card reader or read directly out of the camera with the card installed.
