Can iPod Classic Play Movies or Videos?

Hi... I have two iPod Classics (80GB & 160GB) and was wondering if they are capable of playing movies or videos? If not... Are any of the iPods capable of doing this?
Thanks!

But the 160GB model can play movies I buy from the iTunes store?
Yes.
If so... Is it a matter of just downloading the movie from the iTunes store and than synching (transferring) the movie onto the iPod?
That and authorizing the computer, either by briefly playing the movie or the Store menu in iTunes.

can my computer play movies and videos transferred to time capsule

I use InFuse, an iPhone, iPad, App.
It can play the video on the iPhone or iPad.
I use it to play on the TV using AirPlay and AppleTV.
It does transcoding where needed. It uses screen mirroring for native formats such as mp4.
It can look up the movie and TV series database for information, plot description, rating, cover art etc.
For playing on the Mac just open the file in Quicktime.

  • Can new iPod Classic play movies types iPod 5th Gen cannot?

I have an iPod 5th generation and I have not really tried to put movies on it. My wife just got a new iPod classics and we've been uploading (MP4 H.264 codec) movies on her iPod Classic. When I try to upload it on my iPod 5th Gen I get an error these files cannot be uploaded since the iPod cannot play these file types. I had the same with a *.mov file.
Can the new iPod Classic play more than the iPod 5th Gen? Or is there a way to fix this?

Try right clicking the movie in iTunes and picking the "Convert for iPod" option. Then try syncing the converted copy ("converting" makes a new copy, old version is left alone) to your 5th gen.

  • Can iPod minis play movies- and can you put pictures on them?

Hi everyone, I updated my ipod recently and I was wondering if i can download pictures and movies on my ipod mini. I tried cheking on the official site for info on the mini but there wasn't anything. Also in the movies section they didn't mention if ipod minis are compatible with it or not.
I'm really confused because my friend said i should be able to download my pictures on to it, but i don't even think my mini has colour.
If anyone can answer my questions it would be great! thanks, topaz

The iPod Mini won't display photos or play video of any kind. The replacement for the Mini was the iPod Nano which has a colour display and will show photos which is possibly where the confusion had arisen. The second generation iPod Nano also has the wrap around aluminium body and comes in colours the way the iPod Mini did, in effect a mini Mini: Identifying different iPod models

  • I bought a Sandisk Connect Media Drive, downloaded the app from iTunes.  Before iOS 8, movies played fine.  After iOS upgrade I can no longer play movies downloaded from iTunes to the media drive.  Anyone else have a similar issue?

I bought a Sandisk Connect Media Drive, downloaded the app from iTunes.  Before iOS 8, movies played fine.  After iOS upgrade I can no longer play movies downloaded from iTunes to the media drive.  Anyone else have a similar issue?

I checked with SanDisk's own online support and they indicate that they have notified Apple of the issue.
According to SanDisk, the problem lies with Apple not having the iOS 8 version of the Safari browser having DRM decoding enabled that the Media Drive relies upon to decode and play iTunes DRM titles. Non DRM encoded videos will play in the browser.
DRM audio is not effected as this is handled by the native iOS music app.
As of the date of this post SanDisk have not been given a timeframe by Apple for this issue to be resolved.
I hope that Apple resolves this issue quickly as I have a large collection of DRM video titles on a 128Mb memory card installed in the Media Drive that I am unable to view.

Can iPod classic be charged with the iPhone's or iPad's charger?

There shouldn't be any issue using one of those chargers.  When I need to charge something, I just connect to any 30-pin connector/charger that's closest.

  • My ipod nano 5th gen  wont play movies or videos on my ipod but plays them on itunes when i click on it the screen flashes black i have tried taking the movie off my ipod and putting it back on but it still won't work what should i do?

My ipod nano 5th gen. won't play movies or tv shows but it plays them on itunes.  When I click  on it the screen flashes black. I have tried taking the videos off my ipod and then putting them back on but it still won't work. what should i do?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Can't get Ipod classic to work with video out to TV

I have 80gb IPOD classic,3rd gen. I bought the Dynex docking station w/video & audio out to TV kit. I have it hooked up exactly as they instuct. I also have my settings on IPOD to TV out enabled, NTSC, and captions on. But when I try and play a video, all I get is the "TV out enabled, connect video cable" message. It won't play. Is it possible my IPOD is defective? It is new. Any suggestions?

Is it possible my IPOD is defective?
Probably not, but it's more than likely that the docking station either isn't compatible with the Classic or the cables supplied with it aren't.
Does it specifically say the Dynex is Classic compatible?

  • IPod Classic plays music, but will not show in iTuens or My computer

My ipod was working perfectly fine until 2 nights ago. I never had a problem with it then it just randomly disconnected from iTunes. I I safely removed it then plugged it back in and it froze iTunes, and didn't show in My Computer. After repeating the 5R's several times, I finally got the iPod to show, but it shows on My Computer as a drive that needs to be reformatted (both in normal and in disk mode) and I can't access it at all, when I click the ipod icon, the folder freezes for about 5-10 minutes then goes back to normal and tells me it can;t be accessed and needs to be reformatted. It will randomly show in iTunes but it will tell me that it needs to be restored to factory settings, which iTunes will not do for me.
The iPod itself works perfectly fine when its not hooked into my pc. It does everything its supposed to do. I tried hooking it in other PC's with different OS (all Windows) and I get the same result.
I also noticed that when I go into the iPod settings, it tells me that 28mb is free, when there should be about 30-40gb free. I have tried to use software like copy trans, stellar Phoenix and others but any program that tries to access the drive will freeze, lock up the pc or get a windows error.
I'm using an 80GB iPod Classic, running XP. The iPod, when hooked in, shows the typical connected logo with the two half circle arrows spinning. I get no error codes or messages other than Windows telling me it needs to be reformatted and iTunes telling me to restore it. I have no way--that I know of--to access any data on it. There is nothing in the iPod except for music and 2 videos, I haven't added any extra files to it in 2 weeks.

Same problem here - 80 gb classic and same thing happened to me this week - plays fine alone - when hooked to computer says it needs to be reformatted and then when i try to reformat i get error 1415 can't reformat - this is bs and im not shelling out for another ipod - why would it work fine but when connecting it to windows suddenly not work> I think Itunes 10 has got some issues

  • IPod quit playing movies

I have been using the iPod fifth gen to play movies now for well over a month. Today it quit playing movies. Not just one, but all of them. They worked yesterday. I have checked the settings and everything seems normal. I even re-imported the movies and still they don't work. The movies play fine in iTunes. This also goes for video podcasts. Plays fine in iTunes but no go on the iPod. I am running version 1.2.3.

So, I reverted back to 1.2.1 and the iPod is still doing the same thing. I am beginning to think that an iPod was a mistake.
Only thing I can figure is that Steve didn't like the case I put on it and decided to somehow punish me. He did it to the iPhone users.
If someone has an idea of how to solve the problem, please let me know.

  • Ipod classic plays automatically songs I don't select

I recently bought the 160gig ipod classic. had ipod 5th gen before. no problem syncing. as soon as I put the new ipod classic in the dock it started playing something I hadn't selected. This happens every time. This never happened with earlier ipod. Any comments, suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Sorry, I mean I don't want to play but I can't stop. (discussion title)
Exactly I hear only the sounds from the videos all together.
A tried with 4 different videos and with the shortest one (149 frames) it works well.
