Can iPod mini be backwards-sync'ed?

I'm trying to update my computer's iTunes library so that I don't have to plug in my iPod mini every time I want to listen to music on my computer. Is there a way to put music from the iPod to iTunes?

Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

Refer to my earlier reply, but here is a quick fix to the corrupted filesystem, which might work
Open My Computer
Right-click your iPod -> click Properties.
Click the Tools Tab -> Error Checking ->
Check "Automatically fix file system error"
k Start.
Let the scan complete, eject your iPod and reconnect.

I happen to have the exact same problem. Yes, i have gone through the "five r's", and nothing has been fixed. I'll try it again and see if anything happens.
This error occurs when iTunes is open, and the iPod begins to sync. About 10 seconds after, then itunes displays that error message.

Ipod Mini starts to sync then stops after a few songs and doesn't sync

It has been about a year since I synced my iPod mini (Generation One) with my G3 PowerBook Pismo. I have been using it with no problems but I wanted to ad new songs. I went to sync it and it wanted to update. I am on the latest iTunes. After the iPod updated it would start to sync get to song 7 and just stop syncing. I have to pull the iPod off and there is nothing on it. I have restored the iPod Mini several time. I even tried going back to the orginal disk. Nothing helps. I tried to repair disk permissions in Disk Utilities and that gets about half way through then has an error. I have to quit this operation and can't repair the permissions. Could these be related. I am not a mac doof but I feel like one.

Try taking it into an Apple store, it sounds like a HD problem, or something. If you've tried to restore it, and that hasn't worked, taking it in is probably your best bet.

Ipod Mini generation 2 sync with ipod nano

I have an older version of i podmini generation 2 that i am uable to sync with the songs from my new ipod nano. The battery from my old mini is dead and instead of sending it in ... i receievd the new nano for X-mas.But now i can not add the song list from my old ipod to the new old .I have purchased a new Labtop since i got the first mini and never added the playlist to my new computer untill i received this new ipod. Does that have anything to do with the issue? sO MY QUESTION IS ... THERE ANY WAY TO ADD THE SONG LIST FROM MY OLD IPOD TO MY MY NEW IPOD?

In order to sync the songs that are on your old iPod Mini to your new Nano, they need to be imported and stored in your iTunes library first.

It means you try to sync an amount of content to your iPod Mini that exceeds for 4 GB, or the amount of space that is available on the iPod. See this article for more details.

Can iPod minis play movies- and can you put pictures on them?

Hi everyone, I updated my ipod recently and I was wondering if i can download pictures and movies on my ipod mini. I tried cheking on the official site for info on the mini but there wasn't anything. Also in the movies section they didn't mention if ipod minis are compatible with it or not.
I'm really confused because my friend said i should be able to download my pictures on to it, but i don't even think my mini has colour.

The iPod Mini won't display photos or play video of any kind. The replacement for the Mini was the iPod Nano which has a colour display and will show photos which is possibly where the confusion had arisen. You can only sync with one iTunes library. If you sync with another one the iPod will be erased and its contents replaced with what is in the library of the second computer.
However, you can manage music among multiple computers. See:

I can not sync music to my ipod from itunes because it keeps saying "The ipod cannot be synced. The required disk cannot be found." I have already tried reinstalling my USB drive and it is still not working. The ipod shows up in itunes and then on my computer briefly then it disappears. PLEASE HELP

You've posted your question in the forum dedicated to older version of the word processing/page layout program, Pages. Go to the iPod Classic category & choose the appropriate forum. From there you will be able to post your question & it will be seen by those familiar with the iPod Classic.

Just set up itunes on new Acer. iTunes recognizes the iPod with details such as serial number, remaining space, etc but will not sync. Is there a problem between this version of iTunes and this older model iPod?

Have you tried restoring the iPod via iTunes? This will erase all the content from the iPod and set it back to its default settings allowing you to start from scratch with it.

Giving Away My Old iPod Mini

Hello, I recently found an old old iPod Mini 4GB while cleaning out my office.....forgot I even had it! I would like to give it to a girl from church who has had a tough life and is not able to afford such things at this time. I would like to: 1) make sure this iPod is no longer registered to me and not attached to my current iTunes account - so she can register it to her and use it with her grandma's computer; and 2) leave most of my music on it if possible, that way she can keep songs she likes and not have to buy a bunch of new music right away. She doesn't have a lot of money.
#1 is most important, #2 is optional but would be nice!

Both #1 and #2 are sort of tied together. The Mini is currently associated with your iTunes library. If this young girl connects the iPod to her own PC or Mac running iTunes, the iPod will see her iTunes library as a new one. In order for the iPod Mini to start syncing with her own iTunes library, the iPod must be wiped all all content. So it probably wouldn't work for you to leave your music on the device.
The only way that would work is it the iPod was set up for manual management. See here for more details.

Perhaps an easier solution would be to purchase an iTunes Giftcard and include that with the iPod.
As for registration, she'll have to register it under her own Apple ID before it is removed from your list of registered products.
Hopefully this helps clarify your 2 questions, at least a little. Kudos for giving your iPod away like that!

Brand new Ipod mini won't charge

HI,
Apologies if this has been covered before - I'm posting for a friend who's just bought a brand new 4Gb ipod mini, and having synced her music and having had 1 week of good tunes on the go, it now won't charge.
If you plug the usb 2.0 cable into the ipod and the pc (yes, I'm sure the usb is usb 2.0 on the pc), it brings up the charging icon, but instead of animating the bars etc, it sits still, with one bar filled in. And doesn't appear to charge, as there is no power to turn it on.
Has anyone else encountered this??
I'm sure people will say try another cable, and to this end, I have a 3rd Gen ipod, and am going to try my firewire mains plug, will this work? as my friend doesn't have a mains plug yet - though she's ordered one.
Any other ideas?
Is it just that the battery is knackered - even though it's only a week old?
