Can iTunes or QuickTime be forced to install on a 64 bit Windows OS?

I have used both QuickTime and iTunes on Windows 2000 Server (full updated) with no problems.
A recent computer disaster caused me to get a newer machine and I chose one with dual opteron processors, and I installed Windows 2003 Server x 64 as the operating system (to take advantage of the processors--but I'm beginning to think this may have been an expensive folly!). I use the system both as as workstation AND as a very small server for Web, DNS, and mail for my practically non-existent consulting business.
MOST programs have installed and run without problems (32-bit programs...I don't currently own any 64-bit applications), but the iTunes/QuickTime bundle refuses to install, saying this OS isn't supported.
Is there any way to "trick" the installer into doing the install? I have a feeling the program will actually run on the platform IF I could get it to install. Has anyone seen this sort of problem before? If it is just impossible, does anyone know when a version of either QuickTime and or iTunes might be available for 64-bit OSes?
Thanks in advance for any insight you may have.

yes, if you follow all 7 steps you can directly download a trial here:  Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 Direct Download Links, Premiere too | ProDesignTools
and activate with your serial number.
if you have a problem starting the download, you didn't follow all 7 steps, or your browser does not accept cookies.
the most common problem is caused by failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).
failure to obtain that cookie results in an error page being displayed after clicking a link on prodesigntools.com or initiates the download of an incorrect (eg, current) version.

I've just installed creative cloud 64 bit windows.  How can I make bridge the default program to upload pictures rather than lightroom?

Usually the default program associated with an image file extension is an image developing Program like Lightroom or an image editing program like Photoshop. If you want to change the default associated program to Adobe Bridge you would use Window's Controls Panel file association applet.

  • Do I install 32 or 64 bit Windows 7?

I have a MBP, 2.26 Ghz, Lion. Do I install 32 or 64 bit Windows 7? Will I incur any problems?

Use the 64bit version. This is good if you have more of 4 gb of ram.

  • Can't open QuickTime after trying to install update 7.4

I've tried to update my Quicktime Software to the 7.4 that keeps popping up on my software update. After it loads, verifies, and goes to install I receive the notice the Quicktime can't be installed. an unexpected error occurred and the installer package has been moved to the Trash. It tells me to try again, open the package from the finder... besides not being able to install the update, now I can't open QuickTime at all. Ideas?

    To The Apple Discussion Boards!
Repair permissions & restart your computer.
Install QT again either from the Software Update control panel or download the full installer directly from QT download site.
After you install QT, repair permissions & restart again.

We're having LOTS of problems getting the install of 64 bit 11.1.1.5 to work. Just as a curiosity - is it possible to install 32 bit OBIEE 11.1.1.5 on a 64 bit Windows 2008 server?

Got you, and thanks for that clarification. You want the Premiere - Premiere Pro CS4 & Earlier Forum. Not sure of the answer, but someone there can help you.

  • ITunes cannot be installed on a 64-bit, Windows 7 operating system PC

Re: where can i find  iTunes 64-bit installer?
The page that is provided to download iTunes 12.1 (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1615) points to another page (http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/) in which it is indicated that the following is required:
64-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 require the iTunes 64-bit installer
Where can this installer be downloaded? It seems that it has to be installed before downloading iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit)
    Thanks for your help

No it's not some separate pre install but it does sound like that, its just a poorly written way of saying to download the 64 bit version not 32 bit. Point to note my experience is that using google chrome to get the link will be problematic, use another browser such as Microsoft Explorer. Good luck.

  • HT1923 I couldn't install the update, I followed directions for reinstalling Itunes and now it won't install at all on my Windows 7

    Hello D.Ferrell,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

  • Does anyone know how to properly install Flashplayer on 64-bit Windows 7?

I have uninstalled and reinstalled as administrator numerous times.  Control Panel tells me I have version 11.2.202.235 installed for both PlugIn and ActiveX components.  Neither Firefox nor IE will recognize that flashplayer is installed.  http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html will not display a box identifying the currently installed version.  http://speedtest.maxis.com.my/page1.html will not display.  Any ideas?

Can you try a clean install, as described in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/928315 ?
If that does not help, please list all files you have in
    C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
    C:\Windows\syswow64\Macromed\Flash
also list the contents of the FlashInstall.log files from both above folders.

  • Trouble installing Photoshop CC 64 bit windows 8 - internal file signature incorrect

I had a problem and fixed it, and thought I'd post in case others have the problem. I have a new Win 8 machine.  I subscribed to CC (LR+PS), but couldn't install PS 64 bit. Well, when I installed, I got a message it installed ok but had a problem. Adobe showed a log file I could access, but I couldn't access it, and I didn't want to look at a log file anyway. I was hoping for an answer in English.  I tried to open PS 64 and got this message:  "internal file signature is incorrect".  I googled the message, and the majority opinion was to try and reinstall.  Well, I had already tried that and failed.  Then I got an idea I wish I had had before.  When you get a new PC, first thing to do is update all the drivers, etc, and then go to Windows update.  There were many Windows update.  My PC is HP, so I went into it's support center, and clicked the button to update drivers, etc.  There were a lot of updates, including the bios.  After restarting the computer, the install of PS 64 worked, but then I got the other error I posted today (and fixed).  Hope these posts help some poor souls.

  • Oracle install error 10g 64 bit windows

    Hi
My operating system is : Windows 7 64-bit, and i have downloaded oracle 10g 64-bit for windows, however when i double click to the install icon, i get the error:
checking operating system version: must be 5.1 or 5.2. Actual 6.1 Failed <<<<
    exiting oracle universal installer, etc...
What should i do? Didn't i download the right software??? , I use windows 7 64-bit therefore i have downloaded oracle windows 64-bit
    pls help me. Thanks.

Currently, no Oracle software is certified to be installed on Win7. If you use the "search" feature on this forum, you will find that others have managed to hack the install. If you want a supported platform/install, use a certified OS that is listed in the 10.2.0.4 Installation Guide at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b15681/reqs.htm#CHDHGGFE

  • Can't upgarde or remove iTunes nor QuickTime.

    Hi,
I'm trying to upgrade my iTunes ver. 8; when trying to install the new version I get the following error message:
"The installation of QuickTime did not complete succefully. iTunes requires QuickTime."
I tried installing QT seperately (the version which doesn't include iTunes in it) but than I get a message saying:
"Upgrading QT requires the latest version of iTunes ... continue?" -- catch 22!?
and when I hit next it says that QT encountered errors.
Another thing I tried was uninstalling QT/iTunes using the add/remove program but in both cases got the same error message saying:
    "Fatal error during in stallation".
I'm out of ideas... please help!
    Thank you, S.

    "Fatal error during in stallation".
Interesting ... I wonder if you've had some other program (other than QuickTime) drop old QuickTime componentry in unorthodox places on the PC? That can be associated with "Fatal error" messages with uninstalling QuickTime. (Your other symptoms don't look so familiar in the context of that sort of problem ... but the symptoms for that type of issue are in a near-constant state of flux.)
Let's go looking to see if that type of problem might be afoot.
You'll need to make sure you are set up to view hidden files and folders in XP.
    1. Open My Computer from the desktop or Start menu.
    2. In the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
    3. Click the View tab.
    4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected, and the "Hide extensions for known file types" option is unchecked.
    5. Click OK.
Now in My Computer, open your C drive.
    Open the "Windows" folder.
    Open the "system32" folder.
What files and/or folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the file/folder name? (In a standard installation of QuickTime, you should see precisely two files ... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.

  • Itunes 7 - win xp pro will not install "iTunes needs quicktime" error

iTunes 7 will not complete the install - it says the old version of iTunes could not be uninstalled and then says "iTunes needs quicktime". I tried installing quicktime alone and it also won't install saying it cannot remove the old version. Tried a manual uninstall and I get the same error.

A tip posted by b noir on the following link solved my problem. I just downloaded "Windows Installer CleanUp Utility" from Microsoft, removed my existing version of Qiucktime. Restarted my computer then started fresh with Itune 7 installation. No more problems.
