Can iTunes restore, to a new phone, everything that was contained in a phone that was recently stolen?

I recently had my iphone stolen.  I have the phone locked with the 4 digit passcode. I have not wiped the device, so if it's turned on again, it can be found and located.  If I buy a new phone, can I restore it just like the old phone?  I'm not certain if I have manually "backed up" the device.  I've "synced" it recently, but am not sure if it backs it up when you sync it.  Point is:  Can iTunes restore my phone without having the device or having it previously manually backed up?

First thing done when you sync is an iPhone backup. Follow the directions here:

  • Can't restore to my new phone

Hello all, well I got apple to give me another iphone because of the 3.1 troubles. Well my new phone won't restore with my phone contact list. So I've lost all of my phone numbers. I tried going to edit/preferences/devices and choosing a backup date in itunes but since my new phone has a new IMEI number it will not let me pick the date I need to back up and get the info. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can do this to retrieve my phone list? Please any help. Thanks

Thanks for your very helpful reply.  It's just what I needed after the stress and upset of having my phone and indeed my entire handbag stolen.  I was under the impression that this was a forum to get help, but with people like you around apparently not!

Why would it?  Devices only appear in the list when they are connected to iTunes either physically via a cable or via Wi-Fi.
Actually, that's wrong.  Maybe you should check your facts before you post rude and incorrect replies!

Read the User's Guide before asking any more silly questions.  Not trying to be rude but you come across as clueless.  The User's Guide covers basic functionality.
I have read the guide, it doesn't answer my question.  Perhaps if you read the guide yourself you would be aware of that!

  • Insurance replaced my iPhone 4S with a 5 but can't restore settings on new phone

I did update my 4S with the new operating system last night and my insurance replacement came today. I tried to restore my settings on the the iPhone 5 but it's saying I can't because my software is too old. The replacement phone doesn't have iOS7 and my old 4S does. Should I treat the the replacement as a new phone, then update it and then wipe it clean and try the restore? I can't find a solution.
    Thanks,
    Chris

You will need to update the new phone to ios 7 before you can restore from backup.  Forced recovery will get your new phone up to date http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
Or......you can just go through the prompts to activate your new iphone, skipping any step that require an apple id, update OTA and then erase all content and settings after you are done.  Once your erase all content and settings it will ask you to setup again which will allow you to select your icloud backup

  • Help- erased my iPhone through Find my iPhone (as it was stolen) but now I can't see how to restore to my new phone!

My iPhone 4 was recently stolen, so I erased it via the Find my iPhone app.  I'm planning to get a new one and will want to restore it so it has all the data and setting from my old phone, but when I log into iTunes my old device isn't showing in the device list.  If it's not showing in the device list how can I restore the content to my new phone?

Buy a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD from the online Apple Store, install it, and run Software Update twice.

  • Iphone 3GS was dropped and will not turn on or respond to USB connection.  Is there any way to extract the data off when it is not responding so that I can restore to my new phone?

The phone is physically intact, but you can see the LCD is cracked behond the glass. I have tried plugging it in, tried putting it on the charger, and resetting it using the off and home buttons, bit response. I don't need the phone to work, but I do need to be bale to back it up in order to restore to the new phone.  Is there any way to extract the data or back up the hard drive without repairing the phone?  Just curious what my options are before I spend cash trying to fix the phone and find out there was another way to get the data.  Any thoughts here or should a good repair shop being able to create a backup somehow?

Im not going to be much help because I don't know of anything else to besides take it somewhere that fixes electronics and see if they can get it off some how maybe if you take it to an apple store they can do something to get your information.

  • I have a white screen on my iPhone.  I've reset it and have also done restore through iTunes.  Didn't work.  Was wondering if i restored as a new phone will i loose my contacts

i have a white screen on my computers.  I tried resetting it and it worked for a few minutes until it was put to sleep and then went back to white screen when i turned it back on. I tried resetting again and it did not work.  I then did restore for itunes.  it didn't work.  was wondering if i did restore, as a new phone set up in itunes will i loose my contacts.  just want to make sure before i try in the event i have to buy a new phone want to be able to have the information to transfer.

restoring as new does just that.  It will wipe your phone clean just as if you just bought it.
If you've been using your iPhone as recommended, you've been synching your contacts to your computer to a contact manager such as Outlook or Address Book, or you've been synching your contacts with a cloud service like MobileMe or Google.  Your contacts should be safe in one of those locations.

As stated in the System Requirements, an iPhone 5 runs iOS 6. In order to sync to a computer you must have OSX 10.6.8 or later and iTunes 11 on the computer. If you can upgrade your MacBook to OSX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) you can purchase this version of OSX in the Apple Store. Most intel macs can run at least OSX 10.6.8. If your MacBook is a power pc Mac you are at the end of the supported operating systems and will not be able to upgrade the OSX or sync your iPhone 5.

  • How do I delete my old iPhone backup since I can not back up my new phone.  Will I lose any pictures?  Can you ever see what is actually on the cloud? Last, how do I delete the old iPhone back up.  Thanks, been trying to do this for a long time.

Deleting the backup only permanently deletes the backup from iCloud.  It doesn't do anything to the data currently in your account or on your devices.  To delete it, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the name of the device that you want to delete the backup for, then tap Delete Backup.
You can't see anything in an iCloud backup, if that's want you're asking.  You can only restore it to your device.  You can, of course, see your other iCloud data.

I have iTunes 4.2 installed on my G4 running OS 10.3.9 and I want to upgrade to iTunes 6.0.5. When I run the installer and get to the Installation Type window all the packages under action are disabled. If I move the cursor over the word Disabled I get the following message:
