Can iWeb be hosted by another site other than .Mac?

I have already purchased a domain name and a hosting agreement with GoDaddy, however I cannot utilize their web page templates for some reason. Another mac user suggested I purchase iWeb and then have GoDaddy host. Can that be easily accomplished?

Publishing to a server or hosting service other than .Mac:
Instead of publishing your site to .Mac, you can publish your site to a local folder and then upload it to the server or hosting provider of your choice. You may want to use this method if you own a domain name and want to place your site there.
To publish your site to a local destination:
Choose File > Publish to a Folder.
Choose a location to store your site, and then click Choose.
After you publish your site to a folder, you can use an FTP (file transfer protocol) client to upload the site folder and index file to the location of your choice. iWeb does not provide an FTP client, but they are easy to obtain. Some hosting services provide a web-based FTP upload service, or you can download an FTP client from the web. For more information, contact your server administrator.
If you don't publish your site to .Mac, these features are unavailable:
Password protection
Blog comments
Blog search
Hit counter
Enhanced slideshows
Also, for Subscribe buttons to work, you must specify your site's URL in the field provided after you publish to a folder.

I've been using iWeb to create my school's website and I would like to expand it and move it to a different host under my new domain name. iWeb doesn't have an FTP client, so what options do I have? Can I somehow make iWeb direct my page to my new domain for uploading or would it be easier to start from scratch with some different software. I really like iWeb's flexibilty in creating just what I want. Any advice would be greatly apprecited.

I, too, am interested to know if I will be able to use a foreign SIM card when traveling overseas. I spend a significant amount of time outside the US and before buying an iPhone would need to make sure I could use the phone abroad with my other SIM card. The link above points to a FAQ that, alas, does not answer this question. It only mentions that the iPhone can be used abroad via roaming, which means paying AT&T astronomical data and call rates for international.

Can i move itunes to another drive other than my c drive?

I use a smallish SSD drive for my os and a couple games, i was curious if there is away to move itunes from the C drive to a Bigger storage drive and still be able to fully use it. Just need more space for Itunes and it contents.

Niel's advice above will work better. Moving the entire library as unit and then connecting to it works, and makes the next move easy too. Moving the media alone and then editing the media folder location in preferences doesn't work reliably, and may leave the library with broken connections to the old paths that need to be repaired.
@Rockdwg: If you have any iOS devices you may also want to relocate the backup folder.

I Web on sites other than .mac

Is there anyone out there with the knowledge of, if and when iWeb will be supported on other Web sites. I am on Telus (B.C. Canada) and cannot use iWeb on their site as it is not supported, so I have been told by Telus. I realize it is early yet for iWeb.

Just for you I tried moving my iWeb site to my telus webspace (which I'd never used tbh) - and I had no problems whatsoever. It worked perfectly!
Use the link someone provided to go to telus pages and navigate to webspace - there you'll find how to ftp (easiest route) and merely move the content of your site folder to the public_html folder telus provides...
On your idisk you should find in the web folder a folder with the same name as your 'site' name - and it's the contents (which should also include an index.html) that you'll move to telus.
Your web address will be http://www3.telus.net/public/yourusername

I like the functionality of iWeb, but wonder if it would allow me to publish to a site other than .Mac.

Choose Publish to a Folder rather than Publish to .Mac, then use FTP to upload from your local folder to your non-.Mac server.
You need to be aware, though, that you'll lose some of the benefits of .Mac publishing when you do this. Slideshows will be different, password protection won't be available, the hit counter won't work, and Comments and Search which came with version 1.1 won't function.

It should be around 7 and a half gigs. In iTunes, across the bottom there should be a bar that show how much storage is being used and by what. (music, movies, apps, etc.) To make music take up less room, you can check the box to make it convert the music to 128kbps AAC. This lowers the quality, but with most earbuds and speakers, you can't even tell the difference.
The iPod touch has parental controls built in. You'll find them in Settings. I think they only work for enabling/disabling Safari, Mail, YouTube, and App Store. Here's an app that does more: http://www.mobicip.com/online_safety/ipod_touch

Only the carrier to whom the device is locked can unlock it.
If you do not meet their requirements or they do not offer unlocking there is no official way to unlock the device.

Wife has a new iMac and wants to purchase music from a site other than my iTunes store account. She has a hefty remaining balance left over from her PC days. I logged onto that site this weekend and tried to download some music (we paid for it) and it did not download. We are very new to Mac and need some real guidance. Is it a set up thing? The music did download onto my PC laptop into zip files....any help???? Thanks

Creating a Pocast to be hosted somewhere other than .mac

Anyone had any experience of creating iweb pages with a podcast and hosting on site other than a .mac?
I know I can save the site/podcast to the desktop and then add/upload to an existing website.
When iWeb saves locally it asks for the url for the site.
so for example I might add...

Is there anything else that needs to be added to this path ... like /podcast?
Should it be saved to its own discrete folder?
Also I guess I will need to create a button within iweb, on the podcast page, to take the user back to the Host home page.
Anyone with any clear advice on how to do this?!!!

You should have http:// on the front, then the URL for your webspace, whatever that is. If you save the pages to the root level of your webspace, then that will do. You might want to create a folder on the server called podcast, in which case you would need the /podcast, which represents the folder.

That's up to you: if you are not going to have any other pages then you might as well save to the root level. If you are going to have different sections it would be logical to have folders: but it doesn't really matter as long as the links are correct.
Note that when you upload, you send the contents of the folder you saved to, not the folder itself. Note also that your start page must be called index.html (though iWeb should take care of that).

Note that the link to the rss feed is for programs such as NetNewsWire which are rss readers, don't confuse this with an ordinary web page. You link to the rss page just the same as any web page: http://severname.com/rss.xml or whatever it's called (the extension must be .xml).

I'm creating a website for our church and want to use iWeb to create it, but since I'm the only one with an Apple computer, I don't really want to use .Mac to host the site. Is there a host that supports iWeb other than .Mac?

It doesn't matter that it is for a church, personal, business etc. It only matters what the content will be. I would assume a church website would be more information and images then anything complicated that would require a class or some extra software.
I have build business websites for doctors, actors, ecommerce companies etc and always use iWeb.

What does the fact that it is for a "church" have to do with "investing in learning how to upload files"? Use iWeb, click "Publish" button. Done!
The whole point of a Mac, iWeb and .Mac is that you don't need to take classes. BUT if you can't seem to get started then walk into you local Apple store and ask for some help from an employee. If you must take a "class" then the Apple store provides one on one training for a yearly fee.
