Can iweb be used to update any site or just .mac sites? How?

The URL is http://members.aol.com/MarleneHedgehog.
I cannot see the iWeb files uploaded with the FTP
program.
I tried using shareware HTML Creator 3.5.1 instead
of
iWeb. It provided me with an index.html which did
upload. I also uploaded the ten jpg's separately-
which did upload . However, when I type the URL
into
my browser I do not get the website but the names
of
the JPG's appear.
It looks like your jpgs need to be all in a folder
called Marlene Pics, because that's where they were
when you made your main page.
I'd appreciate any advice. I am not a techie. I
need
simple and easy- Many thanks.
If you are going to use iWeb, I'd recommend you use a
different host. It's not simple and easy and unless
you use their own stuff, and even then....

Would I be better off forgetting about iWeb and just trying to do an index.html (with HTML Creator3.5.1) and then uploading the jpgs in a folder?
Am I right in thinking that the "essence" of a website is a correct index.html and the jpgs?

When you tap and hold on image in safari, there will be context menu. Usually there two options at least:
* Save image
* Copy
If you'll tap Copy - it will be copied to buffer and you can paste it at your new email (for ex.)
If you'll tap Save image - it will be saved in Photos app on your iPad (in my case it saves at Camera roll album)

Can iWeb Be Used To Create and Edit Completely Seperate Web-Sites/Pages?

Is it possible to use iWeb to create completely separate web-sites/pages? As far as I can tell even what is called NEW SITE simple creates a new nested SITE folder.
I want to use iWeb to edit totally separate web-sites.
I want to be able to make a single word change on my home page without having to upload and replace my entire site.
My work around for example would be to keep my Photo and Movie Album separate (where most of my memory intensive files reside)from the part of my site which is mostly text. And when I make a single word change to my home page I would simply upload that page. I would have a link from my home page to my Photo and Movie Album - much like I edit web-pages in Dreamweaver.
Any suggestions?

Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie that you must allow: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Exceptions"
Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the 'Cookies' and the 'Site Preferences'.

Can't convert to PDF in any CS5 software on MAC

My last MAC notebook was 10.5 OS and recently, I replaced with new MAC notebook and has 10.6 OS. The CS4 will not update any adobe software and I was informed that I must upgrade to CS5 (pretty silly). So I did and managed to update all Adobe software. Now, I can't convert using any Adobe software (such as Illustrator) to PDF. The first error says "The save as PDF option in the printer dialog are not supported". Then I click 'OK'. Then I see a PDF converting printer icon at the bottom of the screen. The error on the PDF printer says that I need to install the software to use this printer and get update from Apple menu. So I did and still the same problem.
Would any one have any idea what is happening with this CS5?

The error message is pretty clear - Print to PDF using Acrobat is not supported on OSX 10.6.x. It's the way Apple decided to handle it, as apprently these days they are control freaks and want to tell people what's good for them... nothing you can do about it. This should not affect any of the normal Save As... PDF features in Adobe apps, so use that...

So I've realized that iTunes needs service pack 2 for
XP, and I have 1, so I'm trying to download it, but

x controls on and this tool bar is to appear so I can

raising the security settings but nothing appears...

Why can't I use my 2G Shuffle on a second Mac...?

Just got a new 2G Shuffle, dumped music on it from my Mac at home, took it into work to listen to it on my Mac there and when I plugged it in, it prompted me, saying something like it couldn't sync and I'd have to re-initialize the shuffle in order to have it work on my second Mac...
Of course, my 5G iPod does this all day long with no problems...
How can I listen to my Shuffle at work on a Mac...?

You cannot use an iPod Shuffle in Manual mode as you do he other iPod.
You cannot use the iPod Shuffle on two different comuters unless you sync it with the computer it is plugged in to.

Can't open Firefox any more. Shows up in processes but never activates. It was coming up yesterday but running at around 120k. Did my updates, tested my plug-ins, extensions, etc. but now can't even use it. Any suggestions?

Firefox was working fine but started having crashes this week. Concurrent with multiple problems I'm having with a new Brother printer with driver downloaded via Firefox. No viruses, no spyware, cleaned cache, deleted cookies - have done everything I can think of. And then today, can't even open Firefox though it does show up in processes at around 30K. Yesterday it was coming up at 100k+ when it was working but was very slow. For example, my email through AOL, it duplicated every email I opened, crippling the whole process. Turned off compatability mode - have done everything suggested via the Firefox site. If I have to reinstall it, is there a way I can save my bookmarks?

You could experiment with giving OBP the absolute path to that USB device, but I doubt you'll be successful. The Sunfire 280R (same hardware as the Sunblade 1000, Sunblade 2000, and Netra 20) design expected USB to be only for keyboard and mouse, not for any storage devices. If booting ever works manually from a USB stick, then you could create a custom alias for the device.
Try an experiment by using a CD or DVD of an older release of Solaris 10 instead of the current release.

The earlier ones need fewer hardware resources. I also recall a few forum posts that seem to suggest the bootblock structure on the CD's and DVD's of those earlier releases was more compatible with older hardware.

Any thoughts as to why iWeb software is not updated any more

hello all,
I'm wondering why apple is not updating iWeb software any more. Does anyone think they will continue to support it? Doesn't make sense to me that they have abandoned it. With as much as we all use the web, you would think that Apple would want to have the best software out there for us to use with our iMacs,iPhones, and iPads. I can imagine iWeb software out there that would take our web sites built with state of the art web software that would format the sites we build to work and look the best on all the devices apple makes. Seems to me they are making a big mistake. what are your thoughts about why the have pretty much abandoned iWeb. I don't have a clue. Also seems like they are throwing a lot of people under the buss.

It is now is apparent that iWeb, and iDVD, will no longer be supported by Apple since new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD. iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features Unavailable When Publishing to a Non-Mac Server:
◼ Password protection
◼ Blog and photo comments
◼ Blog search
◼ Hit counter
◼ RSS Feed Widget
All of these issues can be replaced with 3rd party optionsl There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows. Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.

However, Roddy McKay and myself have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone. Why can't I use tilde (~) in the site name field?

Hello everybody!
I have my Web page in an external Web server and I use iWeb to edit this page (the editing is made locally on my laptop and exported afterwards). In addition, my Web server demands that my root page is "/~tfioreze".
In iWeb, my site name field is "tfioreze". However, since I'm trying to use some RSS files, I need to change now the site name into "~tfioreze". The problem is that iWeb does not allow me to include the tilde (~) in the site name, and as a result, my RSS files cannot be found because the path is incorrect in the Web server .
My question: how can I somehow include the tilde in the site name field in iWeb?

When I click on the RSS button, I got this
message:
"Safari can’t open the page “feed://wwwhome.cs.utwente.nl/~fiorezet/UT/Publications/rss.xml”. The error was: “unknown error” (NSURLErrorDomain:-1)
Will need to look further into that one.
I used the Feed Validator Website to check my RSS files. The Website says: "This feed does not validate". The site also shows in which lines the errors are. The link below shows what I mean:
