Can iWeb site be uploaded onto someone else's iDisk?

2-part question:
I have iWeb 09 on my Snow Leopard iMac and my daughter runs Tiger on her Mac mini. What version of iWeb can she use, and is there a trial version she can download?
And, if she builds a website on her Mac mini, can she upload it onto my iDisk (she doesn't have a MobileMe account)?
Thank you

Can you confirm that iWeb 08 will work with Tiger?
See under the Software section in this Apple doc:
_iLife ’08 system requirements_
...Mac OS X v10.4.9 is "Tiger" and that doc was found by searching here:

An alternative to her sharing your iDisk is to build the new site using free, web-based Weebly — see this post:

I cannot get my iWeb site to load onto my Godaddy domain.
I can get it to test the connection succesfully but the progress circle never changes and it never loads.
I know on my previous laptop and website when it was working it should a little progress circle where the little
world icon sits. Now it doesn't load.

'Publish to' should be set to FTP server
Site name is the name you give to your site.
Server address - the domain name of your site, e.g. fred.com
User name - this is the specific user name for FTP which they gave you.
Password - this is the password they gave you for FTP, not the password for your account.
Directory/Path - leave blank to have an index.html file at root level and the site in a folder with its name, so that entering just the domain name takes you to the site. Or if you want it within a folder, enter the folder name.
    Protocol: FTP
Website URL os the address which will reach your home page: if there is nothing in the Directory/Path field it will be just the domain name.

  • I want to be able to save texts to a file or folder seperate from the rest of my texts.  This is so I can forward them onto someone else at a later date.

    Hi
I want to be able to save texts to a file or folder seperate from the rest of my texts.  This is so I can foward them onto someone else at a later time.
I have always had this facility on my previous phones e.g. blackberry but can't seem to find a way with my Iphone.

No such option is available with the iPhone.
A text can be forwarded, but texts are saved in conversation format by contact/phone number.
Texts are included with your iPhone's backup, which is updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process. There are a number of 3rd party utilities that provide for extracting select data from your iPhone's backup for access on your computer - viewing/archiving/printing, etc.
    Here is one.

  • How can I transfer a call to someone else?

    Hi all,
how can I transfer a call (that I've answered and noticed that it's someome elses business) to someone else with Lumia 920 / 820 or 610? Is this basic function even possible?
(It was with all the older phones).
    Please help

All the older Nokia phones you answer a call – you can put it on hold – call someone else, tell him/her that you are transferring a call – press  4 and hang up. Those two can continue the conversation together.
    That’s what I’m looking for.
With Lumia I don’t want to be the 3rd wheel in the conversation...
I haven't found the way to end the call so that the others could continue (not even with conference call)

  • IWeb site still uploaded but not in iWeb on my Mac

    Hi everyone,
I am hoping for a simple fix. I've just opened iWeb. I've used it successfully for a couple of small sites of mine for about 18 months.
Strangest thing......There is no sign of any of my sites in iWeb. Thankfully the sites are still "live" on the net, but how on earth do I suck them back down to iWeb?

    Fabulosity wrote:
Found the files on iDisk. Have been able to download them in one file called "Web". Where do I put that file?
Put it wherever you like — as has already been mentioned above:
iWeb cannot import an already published site.
iWeb's Domain file is normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). Unless you changed its name, it will be called "Domain". Via Spotlight's magnifying glass icon at upper right of your screen, try searching for:
    .site
...and see what shows up in the drop-down list of hits. Note that any files which may be a Domain file won't be displayed as filename.site — rather they'll be displayed simply as filename, where filename could be anything you've perhaps renamed the original Domain file to be.

  • After I've Subscribed to the Creative Cloud Can I Transfer Old Licenses to Someone Else?

I have a question regaring licenses for previous versions of software.  I currently own a number of stand-alone licenses for prior versions of Illustrator, Photoshop and other applications from the Creative Suite.  Once I've upgraded to the Creative Cloud, I'll no longer have a use for these licenses.  Is there anything prohibiting me from transferring these licenses to someone else after I've subscribed?

  • How can I edit a website that someone else did with iWeb?

A friend of mine she has a website that her ex-husband did with iWeb. Now she wants me to edit it. How can I do this in iWeb?

The file needed is titled domain.sites and would be located in the Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder on the ex-husband's computer.  If that file can be obtained you can edit and continue to manage the site.
Otherwise you'll have to start over from scratch. Chapter 2.3 on the iWeb FAQ.org site has tips on using some of the existing files, image, audio, video, etc., from the published site in the creation of the new site.

The screen-lock passcode provides very good security to prevent what you want.  Use a non-simple passcode that can't be easily guessed.

  • Help combining iWeb sites or Uploading to a non .mac server

Using iWeb 2, my lovely bride created a site on her MacBook Pro and uploaded it to our .mac site. It (of course) overwrote our entire family set of sites (three altogether). Luckily, I still have those on my G5. Is there anyway to add her site to my domain file so I can publish them all?
Went to Apple Store in Bellevue, WA and genius and resident iWeb guy have no clue.
I also have other servers I could put her site on but when I publish it to a folder and upload it to that server, it loses all the links. Not the linked files (I assume they are all still there) but the actual links on the home page on hers don't show. You can see this problem at http://www.koobraey.com/alaska/InfinityMates2007/Home.html
If you know this template, you know there should be links above the title. And if you think that looks bad, you should see it on a PC. Yikes.
Any help would be MUCH appreciated.
    Jim

When you publish to a folder in iWeb '08 there are three files that were not present in '06.
These are "feed", "media" and "scripts".
If you are uploading your files one by one, as I tend to do at times, you may have missed the 'feed" file. Have a look on your server to see if its there.

  • Can I download apps/updates using someone else's computer & ISP?

My friend was lamenting that she can't purchase certain apps because they are too big for her ISP e.g. Audubon is 1GB in size which would take days to download (wouldn't work, would get interrupted) and in any case would exceed the download allowance.
So my thought was "we have that app, she can buy it and abort the download of it and then I can just copy the .ipa to her computer and Install". But this doesn't work: apparently the .ipa itself is tagged with our purchase information and can't be used by anyone else, despite that they've purchased it too. Izzat right?
Assuming it's the case that downloads can't be re-used in any way, just how does someone with an inadequate ISP download large apps? Could I, for example, log-on to our iTunes with this other person's Apple Store ID, then download the app using my ISP; she's bought-but-aborted and then copy that download into her "iTunes Media/Mobile Applications" for her to install to her iGizmo?
Is there any better way to do this?

    turingtest2 wrote:
I doubt bandwidth is a concern at their end of the pipe. You can use a single copy, provided one of you is prepared to authorize the other's computer for protected purchases. However having apps from more than one account on any computer or device means that to update the apps you have to sign out of one account and into the other each time there is an update on the "wrong" account. To do so on a regular basis would mean sharing password details with the other party which ought not to be advised.

Thanks, I think this is finally sinking-in with me, helping me also to understand how this friend has an app from her husband's AppleID and computer on HER computer--they must have authorized his ID on her computer (they said they spent hours on the phone with Apple support to get the app onto her iGizmo, without being able to tell me how it got resolved).
What you're saying is that I should be able to "give" this friend the 1GB file I've downloaded, by logging-on to iTunes using my AppleID, and then Authorizing the computer for use (which decrements one of my 5 allowable computers).
But then it would work only once, and the next time the app needs to be updated she'd have to log-off and log-on as me and then do the update. Actually I think this might work, since these friends are pushing "elderly" and struggle to use their PCs and new iPhones, i.e. when they need to be updated they tend to call me anyway. I'd go over there, copy the dl'ed update to their PC, log-off and back-on as me, update her iPhone, and return the PC to her AppleID.
If my post indicates a misunderstanding on my part in any way, please let me know. Thanks again tt2 and JE.
