Can jampack sounds be played in logic pro 8?

I upgraded to logic studio from logic pro 6 and now all my jam pack sounds are in garageband, but not in logic. I installed the jam packs to an external drive. Can the jam pack sounds be played in logic or do I have to play them in garage band?

seems like your instrument library folder for garageband has to be on your system drive, loops however can be on an external drive, but software instruments can not. I moveed the instrument library from my external drive back to the system drive into HD/library/application support/garageband

A small update to this issue....
I have been trawling the forums to find an answer but to no avail...
And... I've tried exporting and bouncing individual stems and the full session, either by muting all bar the stem or soloing the stem.....and still nothing.
Same problems.....everything is audible in audition but nothing plays on playback.
Since the 'prelisten' channel strip is Solo safe this would indicate that you have a track or channel strip soloed somewhere else, out of sight. Are the Mute buttons on your channel strips blinking?
To view all objects in your mixer, click the button. You may have to scroll sideways to check the whole mixer.

Alas, poor Logic, I knew him well.
Recording wise, It will be much the same as Garageband but you will need to read manuals as Logic doesn't set things up for you. You must choose input and output devices, create the correct tracks. Logic was designed for professional use so it expects users to be somewhat familiar with recording/editing techniques, in other words, won't hold your hand or be nearly as easy to use.

If you still have the receipt or other proof of purchase, you can ask Apple to send you the serial. Otherwise, bad luck mate.. Good news is, you can now buy Logic Pro 9 from App Store for just 199 USD

Where Can I download another copy of Logic Pro 9 for reinstallation?

Where can I download a copy of Logic Pro 9 so that I can reinstall it. I'm having so many problems with Logic I can not use it since I loaded Maverick. I tried to go to the App Store and then to Purchases and download it from there, but the message I got back was: "This Product is not available in US store."
Is there something that I am doing wrong?

You must sign in to the App Store application using the same Apple ID you used to purchase the AppStore version of Logic Pro 9 in the first place.
Then go to the Purchase tab and you will find it there.....
If you get such a message, when you click the download/install button on the far right of the LP9 entry under the purchase tab... sign out of the App Store within the Mac App Store aplication.. and sign back in again.. You probably missed signing one of the new Terms and Coditions... or you need to sign into a different server which happens automatically once you sign out and sign in again, from the App Store...

My 1/8 notes don't play in Logic pro 9. How can i fix this?

Whenever I load a synth in sylenth1 or esp (etc.) all the notes just don't play and I get a wierd clicking noise
For example pretend the capital letters are the ones heard and the non caps are the ones that make the clicking noise

It will play the first 8 notes but will not play the rest of the melody (only the first note of the melody).

I did try, and nothing happened! I'll attach an image with three local screenshot I took from a file that had the "sylenth1" plugin in the Logic Pro 9 version. If I try from scratch to insert it, it doesn't appear anywhere.
The only external AU or VST that LX is recognizing is the Native Instruments Kontakt 5 and Ozone 5 plugin. But there are lots of them it's not reading: Absynth 5, Sylenth1, Massive...

Can't use .mid file with Logic Pro 9

I've been given a .mid file from someone I know but I'm not having any success trying to access the file in Logic.
The file should just contain a piano piece he had written.
When I first downloaded the file it automatically opened with QuickTime Player. I closed this then tried various ways of getting it into Logic. Firstly I went to File > Open, and chose the .mid file. This was the result:
"Damaged project or not a Logic Pro project!
"Search for fragments?
"Damaged projects might create problems and crashes!"
'Search' or 'Cancel'
When I click 'Search' I'm told:
"Read error!
"This is not a Logic Pro project!
"No tracks found"
'Continue'
So, is the file empty (no tracks found)?
Or, because it was not created in Logic, it can't be opened in Logic. (I think he is using a PC, not confirmed yet - I also don't know what DAW he's using, yet)
That's ridiculous though, I thought MIDI was a universal language?
I also tried dragging the file straight into a Logic project, which tells me:
"No tracks found"

Two ideas, have your friend check and make sure the mid file plays on his/her system.

If the mid file checks out good on his/her system have them compress (ZIP) the file and resend as it could have become corrupted during transfer. It can happen.
Your description of the file (zero length) sounds like it missed the last few bytes.

I have some original compositions previously recorded on a Windows PC that I want to work on in Logic Pro. However, despite converting them to .raw, mp3, apple tiff and having the original file as. Wav, Logic Pro doesn’t recognise them; they’re all greyed out when I try to import or open, even though they play ok in I-tunes? How can I resolve this?

.raw is not recognized by Apple. What format is this? Is this an audio file format?
.mp3... well, if you like that kind of degraded sound...
.tiff is an IMAGE file format. Whatever made you think this would work?
I think you have renamed the file extensions one too many times...and the Apple machine is confused. Try starting over.
Also, try to look at the info pane for each file, and make SURE it is seen as a .wav file AND that the file is set to read / write, not locked.

Why does my guitar make crackling noises when it plays through logic pro/garageband?

When my guitar plays directly through the interface and montors, it sounds perfectly fine. But whenever I want to add effects through a musical application such as garageband or logic pro x, I get this weird, very loud crackling/bubbly sound. Can anyone help me out with this?

I have the exact same problem and it's been a week or so. It kind of just makes those weird noises out of nowhere and scares the **** out of me. Did you end up at the Apple Store or were you able to fix it up on your own?

US-122--can't seem to detect in Logic Pro

thank you in advance for any help you can give me. I'm having trouble having my Tascam US-122 work with Logic Pro. I've load the drivers and all but not sure what to do...any ideas.

you need to download the UB drivers from tascam:

this link will give you the correct driver.
install the driver without the tascam connected. then restart the computer. when your computer start to boot. plug the tascam in. you will see the lights on the tascam come on if it is recognized. when the light come on you will need to go into the audio midi preferences and change the all out puts and inputs to the tascam if you want your osx sounds and itunes to play through the tascam.
in logic select preferences/audio and change the driver to the tascam.
that is it in a nutshell...

Hassle getting old logic tunes to play on logic pro 8

hi all.. i am a 1st time user of logic pro 8.. but this is not the problem. the problem is that i have some songs a band i was in in 2000 recorded on an external hard drive. the tracks were recorded on a G3 mac on emagic logic 4.somthing .. i do not and never did have that logic system. the studio closed a few months after we recorded there but i got the guy to zap all my bands stuff onto another hard drive and bought it from him for later use..ah ha now heres the problem.. i connect up the external drive and logic 8 tells me that its not compatible. all i can play is segments of individual instruments, none together and no full songs. it just says i need logic 7.2.1 to read it.. is there any way around this or do i have to buy and load another version of logic just so i can get logic to recognise it.??? i do not have access to any serial numbers or XSKey dongles from the older logic version the songs were recorded on so i cant just update software or somthing like that as i dont have the software to update just songs that were recorded on it. its kinda like i need to downgrade so i can upgrade.. wierd...but in any case if there is any1 out there that can advise me on what i will need to do, buy or download to fix this problem so i can complete these recordings( even if it is only for 3 people...lol) it would be greatly appreciated... alot time ,effort, soul , hardwork and arguements went into recording them so it would a waste and a shame to noy be able to finish them... thanks for any help you can offer...HENDRIX666

1- put your songs on a hard drive
2 - take them to someone's place ( house or nearby studio etc ) who has Logic 7.
3 - Open them all in logic 7 and save them as new L7 files on your portable hard drive
4 - Take them home and they will open in L8

What can you guys tell me about Logic Pro

I've seen the features for the express version just the thought is looked limited so I think im pretty much convinced to purchase logic pro. Does anyone have anything I can listen to thats been made off Logic Pro? I've heard one producer on soundclick.com using Logic Pro but alot of people on soundclick.com don't know how to make something sound good and what not. (Im not too good with it myself)

Can't find East West in Logic Pro 9

Hi guys!
I just bought Logic Pro 9 and a mac computer. I have never used a mac before. I have the complete composers addition of East West but can't seem to open any of the instrument in logic.
I have gone to the audio units manager and the engine play is in there. I've even clicked on reset and rescan' but when I go to insert an instrument it does not display any of the East West libraries.
Please help!!!!

You are probably running Logic in 64bit mode. All (new) plugins must be validated in 32bit mode before they will be available in 64bit.
Go to the Applications folder, and (with Logic NOT running) select the Logic Pro application. Press CMD i (Get Info) and check the 32bit box

Does anyone know how to duplicate the Classic Analog Arpeggiator sample demonstrated on the Logic Pro X site?

What you use for a sound is up to you..... but there are many presets for both the ES2 and the Retro synth you could use with a but of tweaking...
Tip: Play around with the Cutoff and Resonance controls.... in the synth itself or via the Smart Controls if they are assigned...
As for the sequencer pattern....
Set up the midi sequencer like this to get the same sort of pattern at 120 bpm.... starting off from the default, and make these changes as per the screenshot below.
Now play notes at the lower end of the keyboard and you should get something close depending on the synth sound you choose...

It's either that Logic 8 is looking for the Rosetta emulation program or that Logic 8 was previously installed on this OS, in which case you will have to remove some preference files and install receipt.
I think the Rosetta emulation is downloadable for SL.
