can you do everything with java, that you can do with cgi, providing that you have a server? I'm completely new to java, thats why I'd like to know this. Can you do for example a chat? Or a multiplayer game or saving and creating files (in an internet programm)?

I wrote a multiplayer card game with player registration, login, chat, multiple playing rooms, and money amounts saved in about a week and a half with some friends.
Java Server Pages are basically like PHP scripts, essentially outputting HTML for a web browser based on some logic, but they can use all the Java classes and language constructs and connect to databases, communicate with server applications, etc.
For an internet application, you usually need to have a server program that runs on a server machine somewhere and client applications or applets that know where to find it and connect to it. Then you can create a socket connection between the client(s) and the server (if you want multiple clients at the same time you need to use a thread for each one on the server). The socket is basically a link between the two programs that you can input and output to using standard input and output streams (use its getInputStream and getOutputStream methods). You have to decide on some sort of protocol for what the messages you send accross mean, and then write appropriate code on the server and client to handle them. -

Yes. Copy your apps and other iTunes purchases/downloads to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases if you have iTunes 11 on your computer), then backup up the first iPad and restore that backup onto the second iPad.

Things that aren't included in a backup include the contents of the Music and Videos apps (but they should be on your computer's iTunes) and photos that were synced from a computer. I have two hard drives on my mac 10.5.8 power pc and hear the clickking sounds of the first hard drive and think that it may be dying, can I install everything on the other hard drive also and wait for the first drive to die before i use the other drives? Or, what is the best way to handle this?

I am not much of a computer technician. I bought a time capsule thinking I could use this for an external hard drive and keep my MAC hard drive free. Was I mistaken? Once I back everything up on the TC, can I delete everything off of my MAC and then use my TC as my hard drive??

TC was designed to backup your Mac. The TC literature is pretty clear about this:
If your Mac's hard drive has a problem....it will sooner or later....you can use your backup on the TC to rebuild your Mac.
But.....if you move all of your data to the TC from your Mac....you only have one version of that data now, and it is on the TC.
Have you thought about what will happen when....not if....the TC has a problem? Since the only version of your important data was on the TC, and the TC has failed......you lose all of your data.....because you have no backup.
A much better plan would be to add a USB or FireWire hard drive and connect it directly to your Mac. Move the data on your Mac over to the hard drive.
Then, the TC will backup both your Mac and the hard drive. So, you have original data on on one drive and backups on another drive.
That would be a minimum backup plan. Most of us have more than one set of backups. -
I went to Mac Store and had replaced hard drive because I encountered 4HDD ERROR(hard drive failure). I had backed up my old hard drive by TIME MACHINE regularly. Now how can I restore everything I had?

I had tried COMMAND+ALT+R which led me to directly to INTERNET RECOVERY via wifi. After 1 hour or so it dropped me at the same point.
I've tried MIGRANT ASSISTANCE as well, it kept on LOOKING FOR OTHER COMPUTERS even though I clicked on TIME MACHINE BACK UP USING EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE
so what to do now?
P.S. Guys at MacStore were so careless to even listen to me when I asked them about retrieving back up :(

Otherwise, authorize your computer for your itunes account, connect iphone, do not sync, Click: File>Transfer Purchases
This will transfer itunes purchases from the iphone to the computer.
Enter at least one unique contact and calendar entry on the new computer. When you first sync, then you should get the option to merge the data. -

Can java provide a follow/depend/attatch compiling warning?
I wrote a class called Query.It connect to database and return ResultSet.So user must manually call my method close() to close the ResultSet and Connection, otherwise resource will be avaliable.
But user maybe forget call the close() method.If codes are released,problem will occur.
For this reason I want java provides a compile warning if a important method is not called.
e.g. Codes maybe like this:

I konw you mean I can copy ResultSet to another Object.But if databse is very very large,ResultSet will use large memory.It is not we want.
e.g. our project database need to store 40,000,000 records.Once load large numbers records,server will crack.
So I can only use ResultSet.
If I wrong,please correct me.
