Can java script be executed inside Acrobat reader 7

Hello All
I am quire new to Acrobat. Please tell me if I can execute a java script in Acrobat reader.
I am using itext library to add java script to a pdf and opening the pdf in reader and get the error
NotAllowedError: Security settings prevent access to this property or method.
Global.addWatermarkFromText:1:Document-Level:0000000000000000
First question can I execute this javascript with Reader itself. If yes how should i get rid of this error

The Acrobat SDK cannot be used to change the information shown for
each method in the quick bar in the documentation. If that says the
method does not work in Reader, then it does not work in Reader...
I do not think there is any similar method for Reader (adding a
watermark) - very much an Acrobat function. Unless you can pre-create
the watermark as a form field, so you only have to change the text at
runtime.

    Why I can't put signature in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC? I can use a picture as a signature in Adobe Reader XI, why Adobe Acrobat Reader DC doesn't have this option?

    I upgraded to Lion and now can't print PDF files and Acrobat reader doesn't work anymore. What can I do to get it working?

    If you upgraded and were using a version of Acrobat Reader that was legacy, that is PPC compatible, then you will have to upgrade to a version compatible with Lion as Lion no longer has Rosetta to interface with the legacy software.
    I know that Acrobat, full version, 10 works with Lion...use it myself.

  • Java script created in Adobe Acrobat not working in Reader

    Hello,
    This is my first post, so I hope I chose the correct path for it
    Let's get to the point:
    I created a java script in Adobe Acrobat according to your tutorial page:
    search.matchCase = false;
    search.wordMatching = "BooleanQuery";
    search.bookmarks = false;
    search.query("Mytxt","Folder","../My directory");
    which I found to be working as a let's call it a relative link, beacuse, after copying my file into another folder it would still work. But when I opened the same file in Adobe Reader I got a Console message:
    Acrobat EScript Built-in Functions Version 10.0
    Acrobat SOAP 10.0
    GeneralError: Operation failed.
    Search.query:4:Link undefined:Mouse Up
    Folder does not exist
    As I mentioned before the same file does return the results of the search.query in this folder in Acrobat. Any ideas? Suggestions? What might be the problem?

    Thanks to your suggestion I started digging into the directories, so here's what's funny:
    Title Page - main folder
    Page 1 - sub folder
    Searched PDFs - sub sub folder
    I open the Title Page, then using a bookmark I open a new file in the same window: Page 1. There i have site links that allow me to perform search.query()
    And now to the funny part:
    In Acrobat:
    If I open the "Title Page" and from there go to Page 1 my directory has to be:
    ../Main Folder/Sub Folder/Sub Sub Folder
    to perform the required search
    However If I open the "Page 1" manually my directory for the same java script has to be:
    ../Sub Folder/Sub Sub Folder
    otherwise I get an error.
    Anyway
    Both don't seem to work in Reader....

  • Java Script no executing on MAC platform

    Hello All:
    I am trying to use a Java Script on my personal website to block use of the right mouse button so images can not be saved from my website. I found a script that works great on the PC (IE8) but when some of friends on the MAC platform give me feed back the script does not seem to be executing properly (my page and images are wide open). So my question is: is there a solution to this problem and how do I fix it?
    Here is the script (I am not the author) and it is placed in the <head> on each page. Also, here is a link to my website and the test pages where the script is working on the IE platform: http://twolabphotography.com/Galleries/Wyoming%20Web%20Gallery/index.html
    <script type="text/javascript">
    document.onmousedown=disable; //IE
    message="Sorry no rightclick on this page.\nNow you cannot view my source\nand you cannot steal my images";
    function disable(e)
    if (e == null)
      { //IE disable
      e = window.event;
      if (e.button==2)
        alert(message);
        return false;
    document.onclick=ffdisable;  //FF
    function ffdisable(e)
    if (e.button==2)
      { //firefox disable
      e.preventDefault();
      e.stopPropagation();
      alert(message);
      return false;
    </script>
    Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. OBTW, java scripting is a bit over my head and this is the first time I have been attempted to use it on my website.

    John:
    This is so 90's.  It's an impossible feat - just accept the fact that you CANNOT prevent this and do something useful instead.  If someone wants your images, they will get them in any of a variety of ways, the simplest being just disabling javascript in the browser.
    What do you do about those left-handed people who have their buttons reversed?
    What do you do about those who take a screen capture of your image?
    If you don't want your images taken, don't put them on the web.

  • Can't open files in Adobe Acrobat/Reader

    Why can't I open a PDF file in Adobe/Acrobat Reader? What do I do to fix the problem? My software list has Adobe Reader 11.0.02 and 9.3.1.
    I've updated.

    Adobe is not an Apple product.  Post in Adobe forums.  It's where the Mac users hang out at.

  • Can't view PDF files using Acrobat Reader X

    We made many PDF files available on our Web site. In the past few weeks we noticed that users who were using Acrobat Reader X and Internet Explorer 8 or 9 were not able to view some PDF files. Basically, when they clicked a link to display a PDF file, the screen would be cleared and the status bar showing "Loading ...KB/...K/B" would be displayed. The status bar would move a bit and then got stuck. The PDF file would never be displayed. Sometimes, my users could click the Back button to go back the previous Web page and sometimes they had to close or kill the IE window. Small PDF files seemed to be fine. I was able to repeat this problem on PCs running Windows XP and Windows 7. I also tested clicking the same PDF files with PCs installed with Acrobat Reader 9 and I was not able to cause the problem to occur, so I am pretty sure that this problem is related to Acrobat Reader X. I also noticed that if I unchecked the "Display PDF in browser"  option in Acrobat Reader X so that PDF files would not be displayed inside the Internet Explorer window, I would be able to view all PDF files without any problems.
    I also did an experiment by resaving many PDF files using Acrobat Pro (Reduce File Size...) to be compatible with Acrobat 8 or above. I was able to open these PDF files using Acrobat Reader X but when I used a PC with Acrobat 9, it would get stuck instead. Most of my PDF files were created a long time ago and we usually made it compatible with Acrobat 5 or above.
    I saw that some people reported some problems with Acrobat Reader X but I did not see a solution except uninstalling Acrobat Reader X and installing an old version of Acrobat Reader instead. Anyone has any ideas why this is happening and how to fix this problem?

    Sounds like you got the trial of Acrobat. Go to add/remove programs, get rid of it, the download the free Reader from http://get.adobe.com/reader/

  • How do I create PDF so that user can insert a placed file using Acrobat Reader

    I have just upgraded to CS4 which has Adobe Acrobat Pro. I am creating PDF's within Pro, adding text fields and buttons for customers to access and fill in using Adobe Reader. This has worked great but I would also like to add a box with text saying 'insert logo here' and when the customer clicks on it then searches their system for the logo, selects and places within the PDF. Can anyone help me on this one?

    Try the forum for Adobe Acrobat.

    You can't.

  • Can I certify a document with Acrobat Reader ?

    Hi, I would like to know if it is possible to certify a document with Acrobat Reader. The sign toolbar button "Certify" in Reader is always disabled even if the document has not been signed. Thanks in advance.

    I just tried it.   Even saved a document with Reader Extended PDF and a signature field (which you can only do with Acrobat).  I opened in Reader but could not certify it (although I could digitally sign in).  I can certify in Acrobat.
    It's possible you can certify a Portfolio (container for PDF docs) using Reader.  However, right now that's not working with the current version of Acrobat or Reader.  (Adobe engineering is working on that - see my recent posting).
    It's also possible that the bug with certifying/signing Portfolios is also preventing other actions from happening.  I don't know.

  • Can not accept license after installing Acrobat Reader 8 and removing 6

    To whom it may concern,
    after installing Acrobat Reader 8, removing Acrobat Reader 6, and starting Acrobat Reader 8 the license agreemnet window appeared as aspected. The problem is it displays everything as far as I can see correctly, but it is not working in any way. I have to close the windows by clicking on the white cross in the title bar. I then receive the message, that I did not accept the license and therefore Acrobat Reader will be closed. And that happens when I click ok.
    Hopefully someone over here as a tip who I can proceed. Thanks in advance!
    Best regards,
    Jochen

    Dear Claudio and Shari,
    Liam's suggestions have been of value for me. The Acrobat Reader is up and running.
    Thank's!
    @Shari
    I'm using Firefox as well. An the tip and tool form Liam helped.
    Just give it a try. The Explorer is used by Windows for more than a simple browser.
    Best regards,

  • Can not longer print pdf from Acrobat Reader

    All of a sudden I can no longer print pdf files to my printer.  It is shared by all the computers in our household and any time I try to print from any of the computers now, instead of printing it creates a prn file instead.  I can find no option in the printer properties where selecting or deselecting something to enable or disable printing to files.  All the systems are either MS Vista or Windows 7.  Though there are commands that allow sending a prn to a network printer, they require a named print server, which we don’t have on our peer-to-peer network.
    It is interesting that I can create a pdf file in Photoshop on my system and it will print from Photoshop.  I can also print the “problematic” documents for Photoshop, which I only have on one system. But anything created in Acrobat will not print natively from Acrobat reader.

    In the Print dialog click on Advanced, then uncheck Print to File.

  • How can we create a plugin for Acrobat reader to convert a Pdf to Excel format?

    Hi all,
    I need to convert a pdf to excel format ! is it possible by a plugin in acrobat reader.
    I know that it can be done with Acrobat Professional and i have to do the same with the Acrobat Reader?
    Does the Acrobat Reader support file conversion plugins?
    Sreejesh K V

    Hi,
    I don't know if Reader supports the onversion but you can easily check that : open an Excel file with Reader and check the result.
    With Acrobat Pro when you open a document using Acrobat then it's automatically converted. If this functionality is supported with Reader you will have the same behavior.
    Once it's supported you just have to open your document using Acrobat.exe (or Reader.Exe)
    My mistake I understood the opposite. To check that Acrobat Reader support the conversion you just have to check in the Reader interface.

  • I need someone to write a Java Script for my Adobe Acrobat form. I do not know how to write Java Code

    I have never worked with Java coding and am in need of assistance for an acrobat form I am working on.
         - I have a form with a field identifier called BACompnayName (this is the field where they would enter their company name).
         - I then have a form field with two radials that says "Is the shipping address the same as the business Address" - "Yes" and "No" (the form identified for this field is SASame.
    What I am trying to accomplish:
         - If they click yes, I would like the form to fill in the information found in BACompanyName otherwise, leave it blank to be filled out by the person filling out the form.
    I appreciate any help.
    Thanks,
    Brett

    Something like the following?
    Checkbox for &quot;make billing address the same as shipping address&quot; doesn't work (JavaScript)
