Can keychain be used as a general purpose password vault?

Can non-website password and credentials be added to Keychain? I currently use Keeper and am increasingly dissatisfied with it. I can't find a simple UI for Keychain that would allow adding passwords to the database. Is there one?

Indeed, items can be added manually to your keychain via the Keychain Access Utility. The help page linked below details how to do so.

Why can't I use special characters in my password? This isn't 1995 anymore where a lot of people don't have QWERTY keyboards.

Why does your site not allow the use of special characters in passwords? Do you not want your customers to be as secure as possible?
As a network security admin, limiting passwords to prohibit special characters is an extremely poor security practice.
Telling me that my security as a customer is important, then tell me that your own system limits my ability to keep my account as secure as I would like seems quite backwards. I understand the archaic reasoning was that not all devices have a QWERTY keyboard, this logic is flawed and is no longer necessary.

Hi, sorry to hear that you are experiencing these problems, but sometimes a new machine (be it Apple, Dell, whatever) can be defective right out the box - its not unheard of.
If your machine came with defective hardware and is still under warranty (seems to be the case here) then you have nothing to lose taking it back to where you bought it and, if there really is defective hardware present I am sure they'll rectify the problem.
A small note: these problems are not manufacturer-specific - its pointless blaming the manufacturer as I can assure you this happens with ALL brands. Apple supplies quality hardware and software - I know of a user who has had a machine switched on since 1987 without problems

Well, at least I remembered to tell Chrome to keep the password so I didn't have to look it up this time.
I have over the many years used simple and complex passwords but except for a few never considered that Apple would be one that would not only help me formulate a strong password but also deny me using Ctrl-V--so I've ended up with one I should reset to something along the lines to be memorized.
The problem for me is, over the years again, I've created and track well over a hundred passwords each different for each site visited. I can see now how I might simplify things greatly but haven't.
What exactly is wrong with using Ctrl-V? Why is it a security risk to Apple and practically no one else?
It is interesting to me that my gripe about Ctrl-V actually leads into a major question I need to resolve concerning how to maintain the security of a "Browser Bookmark and Password and Email Contact list" on my iPad? At this point in time there is no need to figure out how to sync everything between my different browser and email programs on the PC and Safari and Mail on the iPad. Better then doing that would be to print out a list. Better then that would be if that List could be encrypted and kept on the iPad?
Is there an App designed to strongly encrypt any document created and moved to the iPad where it would be encrypted?

How to logon to the Career Center using you SCN username and password

We all know how painful it is to have to create yet another username and password for a site, well for the Career Center you don't have to. We are working to have single sign on between SCN and the Career Center but until that time or if you navigate directly to the Career Center site you can log on using your SCN username and password via OpenID. Here is how.
First, ensure you have set an OpenID username in your SCN profile.
Then go to the Career Center http://scncareercenter.jobtarget.com and click
"Access Your Job Seeker Account" for job seekers OR
"Access Your Employer Account" for employers
At the bottom of the login box, besides "Have an OpenID?" click on the "Sign In" link
In the box type
http://openid.sap.com/your_open_id_name_from_your_SCN_profile
and click Login.
You will be taken to another page on SCN requesting you to login (if you haven't already) and finally approve the JobTarget OpenId login request.
Viola, you are then brought to your personal account on the Career Center. If this is your first time use, you may need to fill out some necessary pieces for the Career Center account profile.
Update 24.08.09: We are having some intermittent OpenID issues, will update the post when it is resolved

Having trouble figuring out how to use trigger inputs as a general purpose input.

I'm trying to use "Trigger 1" as a general purpose input to indicate the status of external circuitry. I can't seem to get the "Read High-Speed Capture Status" to indicate anything. I'm using the "Configure High-Speed Capture" VI with the capture mode set to Inverting Digital Input, and that VI feeds into a Do-While loop which contains the "Read High-Speed Capture Status" VI, which has the Ret Vect set to 0. I see from the online help that the High-Speed Capture function is available on Servo and Closed-Loop stepper systems, which I suppose is to enable the ability to read the position of the encoders. I'm using an open loop stepper system, so are these High-Speed Capture fun

Thanks for the answer Ken. I'm going to try a different workaround. The global was too slow, and I think I'll break my subVI into two parts. I'll create a sub that has all the setup stuff in it, then embed the actual "check trigger status" loop in the main VI. The loop contains only 2 or 3 nodes. Too bad LabView works this way. I can see one reason it should, but another larger reason it shouldn't. Wishlist.... Oh, speaking of wishlist, I like the improvements that 6.0 has brought, but one thing still bugs me. There's no way to have LabView remember the place to look for files when it's first started. It defaults to "My Documents", which should be, as all LabView programers know "LabVIEW6\user.lib" (or whatever). Of course, once th
ere, LabView remembers for that session. Next time it's started, back to "My Documents" again. How 'bout fixing the "Options", "Path" settings so that it will actually remember the path set? Am I missing something here, or does it have anything to do with the fact that we're using Windows 98? My buddy's using NT, and his works the same. Is there a way around this? TIA, Rob.

i have cRIO 9004 and cRIO 9103 chassis, labview 2011...
as i know, cRIO chassis controls its slots if there present any module or not.. if detect anyone, read EEPROM and so on..
but how can i control cRIO chassis slots for my own general-purpose without any module...
when i create projects, it just shows me as chassis I/O
* chassis Temperature
* FPGA LED
* Scan Clock
* Sleep
* system reset
i couldn't write anything from chassis slots and see on oscilloscope screen, (for example: using as analog or digital output) ...

You can start work on your game from the moment you download and complete the installation of the Trial version.
No-one will be standing over you watching what you do or monitoring you remotely or noting when you pay for the software.

Else, about the reason why your command got stuck. You may check the exact options with the statement below:
dbca -hIt may change from one release to another.

If I understand correctly you'd like to save iCloud storage space by only backing up 1 of the 5 iPads to your account since they are all going to have very similar data and usage. You certainly can do that, but I do have to warn you that any unique data between them would be lost if you had to restore from that one backup made on another iPad so just keep that in mind. If you do need to restore in the future you can use this article to restore that iCloud backup:

You need to restart the iMac and hold down the Command and R keys immediately.
You will then have the utilities drop down and you choose Terminal
When Terminal opens, type exactly:
resetpassword
and press Return.
When the Reset Password window opens, select the user for which you want to change the password.
Enter the new password twice, and then click Save.
Accept the next dialog window,
And then Apply
When finished click the apple at the left side of the menu bar, and the Restart.

This is a problem with the Mac OS X implementation of exFAT. I've had the same problem.
Best is to use a Windows box to format the drive exFAT. Then it can be read by both Windows and Mac OS.
But aren't Macs supposed to "Just Work"? Not in this case.
