Can Labview be better than vendor software for Zymark robot operation?

I am trying to decide on alternate software to for programing Zymark Zymate and Benchmate systems. Thank you.

Of course my first reaction is, "Of course you should use LabVIEW." But I may be a bit biased in that direction. It's a question that's really up for debate.
Since LabVIEW is nothing more than a programming language, it can be both better and worse than the vendor software. It really depends on how you code the application.
I know nothing about either of the systems you mention, but from the other response, it seems they just rely on serial commands to operate. LabVIEW is very good at serial communication. However, if the vendor software does everything you need, then you probably wouldn't gain much from writing your own version in LabVIEW, or any other language for that matter.
However, if the vendor software is lacking some features you want or nee
d to use, or maybe you just don't like the user interface, then it would be worth a shot at making your own. What language you use should really depend on which one you are most comfortable with. If you've been coding in some flavor of C for years, then you may some problems throwing something together quickly in LabVIEW to do what you want. On the other hand, if you're new to programming, then LabVIEW would be a good choice. It's very easy to learn the basics and have something running quickly, but there's more than enough depth to the environment to make a very powerful program.

  • Why A is better than B/G for Voice over WLAN

    Hello all,
Now this post has some questions and statements in that you guys know all about and would like your valued advise and corrections/confirmations on the points.
Why A is better than B/G for voice:
B/G is congested, ie BT, Microwaves. Lots of other WLANs etc etc etc - FACT!
    More non-overlapping channels - FACT!
The scatter and reflection on A is better than B/G. The idea being, the higher the frequency, the better the scatter. Would this be correct?
Higher frequencies produce better penetration results through walls, I have read. Or is it worse. Cisco say worse in the document "2.4 GHz waveform of 802.11b and 802.11g can pass through many walls. The 5 GHz waveform of 802.11a has approximately half the tendency for a given power to transmit suitable amounts of energy through walls because of its higher frequency" Ref: enterprise mobility guide. I am a little confused on this ?
A travels thru water and other moisture better than B/G, thus damp walls, wet walls, open areas (lets say between two buildings) would handle A better than B/G?
The Fresnel Zone (clearance required of an obstacle without degrading signal) is better on the A band due to a small wavelength size. Would this be a major factor for an RF design engineer? Any more technical "dummies guide" to this subject would be good?
OFDM handles signalling shortcomings like multipath fade better that previous modulations techniques (I know that G 11Mbps and above uses this also). Anyone have an English explanation to why this is? Also, please look at the graphic attached that shows the enterprise mobility guide in chaper 3, the table. What is the difference between the modulation and transmission type as many people refer to DSSS and OFDM as "modulation" I am a little confuse by this table.
Can anyone give me any more reasons and facts, and clarify any of the points above so when someone comes to me and says, "ahh, just roll out voice on B/G" I can say well this is why not?
    Many thx indeed,
    Ken

You have some good questions. The main reason why people are moving voice to 802.11a is the fact that there is more congestion in the 2.4GhZ spectrum. For example in a downtown area building. There are so many wifi devices out in the 2.4Ghz along with all the other interference that you get on that spectrum. 802.11a, the 5Ghz is a shorter wavelength, so the more it is susceptible to attenuation. The lower the frequency the better the signal can travel through various materials. Look at cell phones.... they are in the 800mhz or lower spectrum and they have greater distances than higher frequencies. Another reason is that if you have guest access, you have to look at devices you need supported. There might be legacy 802.11b clients or newer clients that only support 802.11b or 802.11g. So now the 5Ghz is open which give you more bandwidth for voice.
Water is an RF killer no matter if you use 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz.

I can not dowload the new updated software for my Ipod touch 4G. When i do I get an error message that says Network connection has timed out. I have done the trouble shooting steps. Downloaded the latest version of Itunes, and checked network connection

Disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall during the download and update usually resolves the timeout error.

  • I am trying to install windows 7 on my macbook pro 13", when i run bootcamp it tells me that there is not a windows support software available for my computer. Where can i get the windows support software for my macbook?

I am trying to install windows 7 on my macbook pro 13", when i run bootcamp it tells me that there is not a windows support software available for my computer. Where can i get the windows support software for my macbook?

Apple only supports Windows on certain hardware.
    http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
Apple provides their framework for Windows to run on a Mac, a piece of software called a Hybrid MBR that bridges the gap between how Windows reads the drive partition table (MBR) and EFI/GUID partition table that Mac's use.
It doesn't mean Windows can't run on your Mac, a third party solution called rEFIt will also bridge the gap and allow booting of more that just Windows, Linux as well for a triple booting computer.
Your hardware has to meet the other requirements the second and third operating system needs as as being able to install drivers that will work for your hardware, especially the fans or they will run loud and fast by default.
    http://refit.sourceforge.net/
This above is a advanced procedure which requires knowledge how computers and various operating systems, drive formats and so forth work.
I even admit I don't know everything myself, but I experiment on a separate piece of Mac hardware (out of warranty/AppleCare) designed for this purpose so in case something screws up I'm not taking down my only machine and can use the other to get online and find solutions.
There is a very high potential for losing your data if your using advanced/non-Apple methods to install Windows on your only Mac where Apple doesn't support it. Also one shouldn't be doing this on Mac hardware that is under AppleCare or warranty as it might be voided. Proceed at your own risk and education.

  • Can I have more than one ID for my iPad

Can I use more than one ID for my iPad, iPhone and iPod.? I am using the same for all 3 now.
My wife have one iPod and can I share my apps with her.? And if...How?
We are using the same computor for all devices.
    Thanks in advance....

The spell check goes with the keyboard layout being used.  Just activate both English and French in Settings > General > Keyboard and then use the Globe key to switch between them.
(I think there is bug in Pages, however, so that this doesn't work for that -- you have to change the OS language).

  • Can we give more than one value for an Authorization field in Auth-Check.

    Hi all,
Can we give more than one value for an Authorization field in Auth-Check.
    Ex: AUTHORITY-CHECK OBJECT 'S_TRVL_BKS'
    ID 'ACTVT' FIELD '02'
    ID 'CUSTTYPE' FIELD <Value 1> <Value 2> <Value 3>.
    IF SY-SUBRC 0.
    MESSAGE E...
    ENDIF.
If yes, please help me with exact syntax.
    Think it will be like
    ID 'CUSTTYPE' FIELD: <Value 1>, <Value 2>, <Value 3>.

    Hi,
yes we can give more than one field.
    program an AUTHORITY-CHECK.
    AUTHORITY-CHECK OBJECT <authorization object>
       ID <authority field 1> FIELD <field value 1>.
       ID <authority field 2> FIELD <field value 2>.
       ID <authority-field n> FIELD <field value n>.
The OBJECT parameter specifies the authorization object.
The ID parameter specifies an authorization field (in the authorization object).
The FIELD parameter specifies a value for the authorization field.
The authorization object and its fields have to be suitable for the transaction. In most cases you will be able to use the existing authorization objects to protect your data. But new developments may require that you define new authorization objects and fields.
please reward points, if it is useful.

  • Can we have more than One DC for the sales organization and Plant combo?

Can we have more than One DC for the sales organization and Plant combination?
If yes can you please site a practical example to clear the picture

    Hi
First of all in SAP sales orgs are assigned to distribution channels and the combination of sales org and distribution channel which is called distribution chain is assigned to plant
There is  no direct link  between sales org  and plant or distribution channel and plant
So  sales org  and plant combination doesnot exists and
it is only sales org and dist channel combination which is  called as distribution chain only exists
Nowhere in SAP we are assigning sales org to plant
It is because sales org alone doesnot make sense and its combination with dist channel only makes sense
because sales org is a selling org and the distribution channel is the route to sell and this combination has only to pick the material from plant to process sales to customers
The relation between sales org and distribution channels is many to many and also vice versa
Multiple sales orgs can be assigned to one distribution channel and
Multiple distribution channels  can be assigned to one sales org
Similarly the relation ship between Distribution chain (sales org+dist channel) to plant is also many to many and vice versa
Similarly plants from other company codes can also be assigned to Distribution chain to facilitate intercompany processes
In whatever way look at it the multiple distribution channels can be fit anywhere

I have a dual boot lab that I set up for a school.  The partitions consist of Mountain Lion OSX and Windows 7 Ent.  I use bootpicker software for choosing the operating system at startup.  When I select the windows partition, it take just under 2 minutes from selection to the windows login screen.  It seems to take incredibly long for the mac to "shut down and hand over the operating system to windows.
Do you have any suggestions on how to get this timing faster?
    Thanks for any ideas/input

The only suggestion I can make is to look ar ReFind (previuosly ReFit). Startup mamangement is one of its features.
    But
It is very powerful so test it for yourself before deploying it. Some of the functions are best kept out of the hands of the curious, or 'playful'
And you never answered this question.
Tell me what the needs are, do the users always need to choose Windows or is this a variable?

  • RSSI... can i get better than -80 dBm ???

i would like to know if i should be able to get better than RSSI = -80 dBm (signal strength)... i have four bars (usb ec168 modem) whenever verizon is running at it's best here in northeast oklahoma... a former alltel region... my understanding is that RSSI = -80 dBm is the level that is described as "good enough for Rev A / evdo"...
in my research of this subject googling all over... i find that some people will get RSSI in the 70s and 60s... lower being better / stronger signal... can someone tell me why i cannot get these kinds of levels since i often have four bars showing 90-100% ???
when my RSSI drops to less than -80 dBm... higher values such as -85, etc... this is when my evdo drops to 1xrtt and even DO...
appreciate any enlightenment on this subject... thx!
*obviously, verizon (if you are listening...), since i am paying for 3g broadband... i would like to have 3g broadband, rather than the 1xrtt and DO that happens so very often, evenings, during the week!

Understood.  Actually, if you mean the towers are neither VZ or Alltel because the carrier name is not listed, it won't be.  Your service may not be from a tower per se either.  If there are antennas in the area, that may be where your signal is from.
The towers are listed by the owner and the carriers  lease space on them along with the antennas.  The sure way to tell is to use your cell phone if you have a VZ phone and do a field test with it since you have a desktop and cannot move it about.  The closer you get to the "site" of your signal source, the stronger your signal.  evdoforums.com can assist with a list of codes for each brand of cell or smartphone to help you determine this.  I also have this if you may need.
Actually, -80dbm is not a bad signal and from my experience, a small percentage get better than that.  The best possible is -50.
I wonder why this is even an issue since you have not reported any problem with speeds, connection or any problems that may be associated with the signal strength.  If there truly are only 3 towers and no antennas in your area then the reason is more than likely due to congestion.
I have also discovered that the signals, connections, etc. are all improving and doing an update for your PRL if that is possible through your software may just be the fix.
However, if you are insistant on spending money on antennas and/or amps, etc. when the signa isn't anywhere near abnormal, that is your choice.  Keep this in mind if you do, you may not have a gain in more than 10 dbm if you have any at all.
So have a great day and good luck.

  • Where can i download the oracle applications software for DBA

    Hi,
I want to know few things regarding oracle applications.
    1) What exactly is oracle applications
    2) Where can i download the oracle applications software
    3) I am currently working as oracle DBA, so i want to enhance the dba skills to oracle application, so where can i find further help, documentation related to oracle applications and dba related to that.

Oracle Applications is an integrated ERP solution, with Finance, Manufacturing and CRM modules. Please visit appsnet for further information.
Unlike other Oracle products, Oracle doesnot give free software downloads for Oracle Applications. They were once giving trial versions for about 40 USD. Now I am not sure, please check up Oracle website www.oracle.com. Look for link on "e-business suite" under the 'products' directory.
If you can get hold of documentation on 11i, you can check out System Administration and Application Object Library (AOL) modules, these fall in your area. You can find this on oracle website or metalink.
Be aware that general Oracle DBA on 8i or 9i is a different ballgame than managing 11i. Lot of websites are available for these harried people, and for more information, you can visit the websites www.appsdba.com, www.oncalldba.com or do a general google search.
If you can get hold of a book "OCP for Oracle Financials 11.0" by Christopher Allen and Vivian Chow, this has good documentation on above two modules. But this is in 11.0, not 11i.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can i create more than one instance for single database?

    HI
anybody can tell me how to create more than one instance for single database(without using RAC)?
    thanks
    Kalanidhi

    Anandji,
I sometimes think differently. I also think like what this person is asking..(although I have installed and administering 5 different RAC databases)
The main doubt of mine is that we create multiple instances accessing the same storage area.
Anyway the controlfiles of all instances will have the same information except the instance_names and instance id's.
Hence I always think , why can't it be possible to to create another instance in the same system and point it to a controlfile which is copied from the other instance.
Why can't the same files be shared between the two instances in a same system ?
I know I am thinking a little bit confusing...
Anyway I need to test that also...
    Mahesh.

  • Can there be more than one port for the same logical system

Can we have more than one TRFC port for tranferring data from one logical system to another?
The requirement is to transfer same basic idoc type from one logical system to another through two different ports. Is it possible?
For eg. some specific data (country specific) for the same basic idoc type can be sent through a separate port and the other data through a different port inorder to distinguish between the two.

    Hi Shital,
I don't think so. Because of that what i told you. There would be a dirty trick (back routing) to solve your issue. But its quite difficult and not standard. You create two http receiver services  and two http sender services. You route your message depending on payload to the one or the other http receiver channel. The receiver is in both cases: THE XI! Now you have a second message, which you  can route to IDoc adapter. But in this case you have different sender and in the receiver determination you can put the sender, so you will be able to use different communication channnels and so different ports / destinations.
Advantage: Your task would run, no performance problem (http: very good, asynchron)
Handicap: You see every message double in the monitoring, the scenario is not easy to understand and it is a big task 4 other people to change it.
    Regards,
    Udo
