Can Lightroom 3 replace Adobe Bridge?

I just picked up a copy of Lightroom 3 and I'm slowly learning the application.
I know Lightroom offers a tremendous amount of non-destructive image editing, which is my primary reason for purchasing it, however I'm wondering if it can replace Adobe Bridge. Quite frankly, I'm just trying to streamline my workflow and while I love using Adobe Bridge, I'd prefer to invest my time in learning just one application.

The functions in Bridge are largely present in Lightroom, although implemented in a somewhat different fashion -- Lightroom is a database, while Bridge is a file-browser. So, yes, Lightroom can replace Bridge for many people. Lightroom offers the possibility of dramatically streamlining your workflow (depending on what you do with your photos, of course)

  • Unable to preview raw photo on adobe bridge cs6 taken from Canon 6d

Hi!  Hope you all can help me with this problem.  Some raw photos taken by the same camera (canon 6d)  on the same memory card can be previewed on adobe bridge but other raw photos cannot.  The setting for all of the photos are the same.  The photos that I can't preview shows a gray screen with CR2 icon.  Jpeg images can be previewed.
    Your help is appreciated!

Did you use a card reader for the download?
Are all the 300 files relatively the same size?
Did you ues Tools/cache/purge and rebuild the folder cache?

  • Download Adobe Bridge CC, English version

When I try to download Bridge CC i come to the swedish Adobe
web site but I want the english version. What to do?

    Try getting it from here:
    https://creative.adobe.com/products/bridge
Adobe Bridge can display menus, options, and tool tips in multiple languages. You can also specify that Adobe Bridge use a specific language for keyboard shortcuts.

  • How can I access my cloud files from Adobe Bridge or Lightroom?

Since we still do not have the ability to share folders or perform a sync with ACC I'm betting this question is not answerable, but I'm hopeful. It would be really great if Bridge, and I'll use Lightroom if I must, could access the files within the Adobe Creative Cloud. OK, I understand that sync isn't going to happen, that the cloud is not meant to be sharing or collaborative in nature but rather a tool allow you to send a single file to another Cloud user to get their comments or have them download a JPG. OK, that's fine, a VW is never going to be a Cadillac, but is it possible to modify Adobe Bridge or even Lightroom to look in the users Creative Cloud folders and display thumbnails of the images? This way the user can see a file he wants to work on, allow Bridge or Lightroom to export the file to his PC, open it, work on it and save it. Is any of this even possible today?

Which OS do you have? In case of using Mac OS X 10.7 and later or using Windows 7 (maybe working on Vista too, but tested on Win7), Adobe CloudConnection is out now. If you use Snow Leopard 10.6.8, like I do, you have a problem xDD

  • Basic: Does or can Lightroom replace Bridge

I have been using Lightroom and am switching from Elements 5 to CS2. Can Lightroom replace Bridge?
    Thanks in advance

if you're a photographer, LR basically is the new Bridge. Bridge and the associated work flow sucked, so they gave us a new application that just cuts out one of the steps. That's about it...

  • Can't see CR2 files in Adobe Bridge CS6

I have recently purchased Canon 5D Mark iii and have taken a few shots in RAW mode. When I try to open the file in Adobe Bridge CS6, I can't view the file.
I also have a canon T2i and the raw file from that camera show perfectly fine.
What could be the problem? All my CS6 software is up to date.

Updated to ACR 8.4? There is an issue:
The fix is to download a 8.4 again via the link below and follow the instructions to replace the existing 8.4 plugin:

  • Is Adobe Bridge included in my Creative Cloud Subscription. I have the Photoshop and Lightroom subscription for Mac

Is Adobe Bridge included in my Creative Cloud Subscription. I have the Photoshop and Lightroom subscription for Mac

Addendum: I can find this on Adobe's Acrobat DC FAQ page:
Can I get Document Cloud services if I’m an active Creative Cloud Member?
Yes. Many Creative Cloud plans include Acrobat Pro DC with Document Cloud services. Explore Creative Cloud plans.
However, if I follow the link to Creative Cloud plans, there is nothing to tell me whether Acrobat Proc DC is included in any of the plans. My plan is a yearly individual at $49.99/month.

  • Why does Adobe Bridge and Lightroom not recognise some jpeg files?

I am trying to use Adobe Bridge and/or Lightroom to add tags to a large number of images that I have. However when adding images, almost 1000 of the 6900 images fail to import to the Lightroom gallery and the same images do not preview and will not let me edit their metadata in Bridge.
If this has happened to anybody else I would greatly appreciate some help.
Alternatively if anybody knows of other programs i can use to easily add tags to many many images please let me know =)

  • Can't update Adobe Bridge CS5

I just reinstalled Photoshop CS5 on my new replacement desktop processor.  I tried to update it but kept getting the message to close Adobe Bridge CS5.  It is closed.  I've tried the following suggestions from the FAQs:  (1) Went to Task Manager and confirmed that Adobe Bridge is closed.  (2) Tried to go to Edit>Preferences>Advanced to tell PS not to load Bridge at launch.  There is no Advanced and no check/uncheck capability.  (3)  Tried to download the 12.0.3 patch but can't find it anywhere in the downloads showing to me.  HELP!

I finally found the answer to my question by continuing to search.  Adobe Bridge was running in the background.  To stop it, I had to go to Task Manager>Processes.  Additionally,  Edit>Preferences>Advanced was in Adobe Bridge -- not Photoshop.  I'm all squared away.

  • Is Adobe Bridge free with Photoshop and lightroom deal?

Hello anyone, I have the Photoshop and lightroom deal subscription for Adobe CC.  But I don't know if Bridge free or extra?  in CC Apps there is an install option which suggests it's free were has other Apps have the try option.  Can any one help me please.  Cheers Neil

Bridge CC must be separately installed via the Cloud app.

It's included with your membership at no extra cost but it's no longer automatically installed along with Photoshop etc.

  • Possible to export photos from Adobe Bridge directly to Lightroom?

I have thousands of images previously imported and processed in Adobe Bridge. I would like to open my original folders in Bridge, review the images and export only selected images directly to Lightroom. Is it possible to do this or must I import the original folder directly into Lightroom and make my selections by unchecking boxes?
I would also like to import my keywords list from Bridge into Lightroom and apparently that can be done under the Metadata tab in Lightroom, but how do I navigate to the keyword list in Bridge,? Where is it located? Thanks. Bernie M

    Judith:
Bridge does have a keyword hierarchy (Keyword sets). I'm not sure if it is brought in to LR as such, but the keywords do come into LR adequately for my purposes. Also, please remember that I am now only using Bridge for older archived folders that were originally processed in Bridge and all new photos are imported directly to Lightroom.
When I select images in Bridge and drag them into Lightroom, all unselected images remain in their original folders, as do the selected images. The selected images are just for my Lightroom Library -- for my normal working practice. If I understand LR, the images brought into LR are not new copies, they are in a sense "aliases" for working purposes and the originals reside in their original folders. In fact if you have the original folders on an external harddrive that is not connected, you cannot modify the images in LR until you reconnect the external drive. So, when you say you load everything into LR you should be aware that the original images are NOT in LR but remain in their original folder, wherever that resides.

  • Aperture vs lightroom vs adobe bridge

I'm very very very new to all this, I plan on buying an imac soon and I'm trying my hand at amateur photography, but I am unsure what the difference b/w aperture, lightroom and adobe bridge is. Can anyone explain the differences in a nutshell?

    Alejandra-
What Charles said. Aperture, Bridge and Lightroom are all applications for advanced digital image handling. Each has a steep learning curve that requires prerequisite full conversance with the Mac, batch image handling and digital photography in general. Simply running a trial version of Aperture, for instance, will not give a novice an appropriate idea of how Aperture behaves and what it is capable of.
Take at least a thousand digital pics and manage them using (free) iPhoto. Buy (inexpensive) Adobe Photoshop Elements and learn basic image editing and manipulation. Then re-ask your question. New Aperture and Lightroom versions and new training routines will then be available and you will get much more relevant advice. Do not run the 30-day trial until you have righteous hardware and training CD tutorial(s) in hand.
Planning an iMac purchase be aware that images processing is very hardware intensive. Anyone intending images processing should plan on buying strong hardware: Mac Pros, Macbook Pros or the highest end of the iMacs. Best performance will come from the strongest hardware. 2 GB RAM should be considered minimal.
