Can lockout duration be set to never unlock?

Hi,
I would like to know if in COREid 7.0.4 if there is a way to set the lockout duration in the password policy to never unlock an account automatically. I know the units are in hours.
Will setting to 0 make it forever locked. I know that value is used in lot of Webgate configurations.

It's a good idea to stop the hard drives sleeping when you are editing.
The problem does not usually occur whilst you are actively editing but whilst you are rendering.
Under certain circumstances rendering can take many hours.
If you have left the computer alone to allow it to render, the computer will think that nobody is using it and will go to sleep thereby stopping the rendering process.,

Your question is not very clear but I assume you are referring to setting of the Account Lockout Duration for a user in weblogic realm.

Issue with Lockout Duration in Password Policy in OAM

We are facing an issue with the lockout duration configuration in the password policies in the identity manager interface for our OAM setup.
Oracle Access Manager 10g version 10.1.4
User/Policy Store: ADAM Ldap [Microsoft ADAM 2003]
After we lock out a user in our LDAP after 5 wrong attempts, the two attribute values in ADAM get updated to 5:
oblogintrycount
badPwdCount
Also I see that "oblockouttime" gets updated with an unix timestamp.
Now, we have set the "Lockout Duration" in the password policy as 1 hour. So, after 1 hour, the user should be unlocked in ADAM.
However, after 1 hour when the user tries to login, he/she gets the error that a wrong password has been entered for the userID.
When we check in ADAM, we see that the value of "oblogintrycount" was indeed reset. However the value of "badPwdCount" did not get reset and is still stuck at 5.
If we reset both these attribute values to 0, the user can login again.
Now, is OAM expected to reset both these attribute values to 0, or does it only reset the oblix attributes?
If it is the latter, is there a way around to resolve this issue? Or are we doing something wrong here?

OAM only works with the ob* attributes, and not with badPwdCount attribute of the AD (ADAM). I think for some reason the password and account policies of the AD is being triggerred. Disable the AD password policy and it will be Ok.

Cookies set to "Never" but Safari now accepts all cookies anyway

In looking closely at cookies accepted "only from sites I visit" I noticed that it actually includes a lot of third-party cookies, so I keep Preferences set to Never unless I'm accessing a site that must accept them (for example, New York Times). However, in the last few days something has changed (I don't know what that is), and now all cookies are accepted even though I have Preferences set to Never. Seems like this change coincides with the latest Safari update from a couple of days back. Is there anything I can do to stop it accepting any and every cookie? Thanks.

I just installed 10.6.8 and have the same issue. It appears 10.6.8 broke Safari. I hate cookies, and always have Safari set to "never". If ad companies want to pay me to track my web use, that's one thing, but I'm certainly not going to let them do it for free! I'm quite frustrated this slipped through Apple's QA, and hopefully they will fix this soon. In the meantime, FireFox works fine. I normally use Safari for general browsing, and FireFox for the occaisonal site I need cookies for (and I have FireFox set to clear all information upon closing). If you do banking online, you certainly don't want cookies laying around on your machine. Unrelated, it's important to delete Flash cookies, which most people don't do. These are buried in user/library/preferences/macromedia
You need to lock the "#SharedObjects" folder (press command+I on the folder and click "lock"). Then also click throguh the "macromedia.com" folder to "sys" and lock that folder. A few sites will require you to unlock the "#SharedObjects" folder to play their flash video, but most don't require this. I dropped the Flash folder in my "places" section so I can quickly access it when needed. Flash is evil stuff, no getting around it.
It would be nice if our web browsers could block Flash cookies as well. At any rate, Apple should fix this Safari cookie issue ASAP!

Account lockout duration

Our Default Domain Policy GPO (linked at the domain level), has the following settings configured:
Account lockout duration: 60 minutes
Account lockout threshold: 3 invalid login attempts
Reset account lockout coutner after: 30 minutes
Using both RSOP in Group Policy Management and GPRESULT on the local machine, I can see that the above policy is applied.
However, when a user account is locked out, it is not automatically unlocked after 60 minutes.

                                      Heres a short list of things
you should check if youre encountering trouble with your Password Policy settings (they dont get applied).
                                      # 1 Is your Password Policy
linked at the domain level?
                                      Have you linked it to the domain?
If not, you should. The Password Policy is only effective if its linked to the domain level. On OU level, the settings you specify in the policy will target the local machines user accounts and their passwords. Not the AD accounts people log on with.
The password settings dont need to be made in the Default Domain Policy. It can be any policy that you create. See # 2.
# 2 Are there multiple policies at the domain level that implement Password Policies?
                                      This is pretty similar to the Highlander.
There can only be one. One Password Policy. So - when there are multiple policies that implement password settings, the one applied last gets active. What that means is that you need to make sure that your password policy is linked at the top of
the list of policies for the domain level. You can see that in GPMC. The policies linked to the domain have a specific order and they get applied from the bottom up. Logic says that the policy at the first position is applied last - so that should be the policy
your password settings are in.
# 3 Make sure policy inheritance isnt blocked at the Domain Controllers OU
                                      When inheritance is blocked at the
Domain Controllers OU, the password policy cannot be applied and the old policy will stick at the DCs. That would result in the fact that they wont check for the new complexity.

Settings>General>AutoLock>Never. Now it will not sleep at all so change it back when you are done reading.

HT4519 is it safe to delete all emails on ipad if they are set to never delete from server

I am trying to free some space and want to delete emails from my I pad but dont want to actually delete the emails from my home mac. The email accounts are set to never delete from server so I should be ok to delete?

Manage My Places/Google Search in iPhoto has stopped working. I have always had my Look Up Places Preference set to Never. Any ideas?

That's not my experience Larry, although I'm not an expert. It was one of your earlier responses to someone else that made me check this preference out. However, I've set it to automatically and google search in Manage My Places doesn't work and the "find on map" option on the photo information tab doesn't work.
What does works with it set to automatically is if I enter "Merida, Mexico" in the photo place it will list a number of towns called Merida and I can select the Mexican one. If I enter "Calle 49, Merida, Mexico" it doesn't list anything but it does offer the "find on map" option. If I select this it loops.
I've checked my software updates and nothing on my Mac has changed in the time between this working and ceasing to work. I'm just trying to establish if anyone else has experienced difficulty with the google search under manage my places in iPhoto recently.

Good advice from Linc Davis that should sort out your query i think...
However you dont want to set your MBP to never go to sleep...
Adjust reasonable sleep settings...
And the download an APP called caffiene...
When you click it you can have your MBP never go to sleep with a single click of your menu bar... and with another click it can go to sleep normally to maintain the laptop...
Simply click the cup... To toggle never sleep/sleep

Hi, I'm using mozilla firefox as my browser and I can't play games online in facebook. I have tried to change the Global security setting panel but I can't view the setting manager. It's blank so I can't do any changes. I need help with it please. thank you

FYI, here's a summarry of my experience and findings from various forums regarding this update, hopefully it will help prevent others from the same issue or prompt someone to figure out a solution. From what I've read, my experiences or any combination of them are not uncommon;
I'm running Windows 7 x64 (updates current), IE9 on an HP ProBook 4730s. 2 years old, never had any issues
Last week Windows wanted to restart to perform updates. I let it and after restart I allowed Adobe to perform the updates that had been prompting me to install for a couple of days( Flash 11.6.602.171). Within minutes I started experiencing Blue Screens. This would happen randomally about every 5 - 10 mins. only with Internet Explorer.
Cause of Blue screens point towards igdpmd64.sys which is an intel graphics driver for hd3000 graphics ( I have intel hd3000 and AMD Radeon graphic chips.
I deleted all graphic drivers and reinstalled current ones from HP and got rid of my blue screens.
All worked well except, there was no Taskbar live preview(only showed icons instead of actual window), no silverlight video(blank section on screen), no embedded flash objects(only blank section on screen), Youtube worked fine, and no output for auxillary monitor on VGA or HDMI port.
I updated to IE10 with same results
I tried earlier versions of Flash with same results
I uninstalled kb2670838 and all works fine
Uninstalling kb2670838 also reverted back to IE9 so this update must be required for IE10
Hours and hours of work because of an issue with a Microsoft update. All issues are related to graphic problems, yet, the update was to improve performance of various graphic components. Yeh, it sure did! LOL

That you are getting the BONG is a good sign, it's unlikely to be hardware if you are able to hear that.
Start by running SW update. It's not that there is a specific fix, but when updating it may rewrite some system files which may get this going again purely as a side affect. Worth a go, and should not harm the system.
Try reset the PRAM - Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
Hopefully one of these quick fixes works, otherwise we'll need to try isolate the issue next - so if still having a problem, I'd try create a new user and login as that user to see if the issue persists (which will tell us if it's system wide or user specific)
