i just bought a new MacBook Air, i was using it and it turned off now i cannot seem log back in. how do i get back access and the password i am typing is correct

My MacBook Air will not let me log on when I enter my Apple ID and password it just shakes back and forth. The caps are not on. This is only the second time I have logged on. First time at the apple store when I bought it now. I even changed my password and I can log into my iPad and iPhone e but not my laptop any ideas thank yoga

Check that the shift keys are working - it's not uncommon for one to get stuck (happens with other keys, too).
Try teasing the key upwards with the corners of a couple of credit cards or similar flexible, non-conducting tools.

There are several possible causes for this issue. Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried, testing after each one, until it's resolved. Back up all data before making any changes.
Step 1
Follow the directions in this support article.
Step 2
Open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the Keychain box. You'll be prompted to delete the local iCloud keychain. Confirm. Then re-check the box. Follow one of the procedures described in this support article to set up iCloud Keychain on an additional device.
Step 3
Open the Keychains folder as in Step 1. There should be a file in that folder with the name "login.keychain". If there is also a file iwith the name "login_renamed_1.keychain", then please do as follows:
Rename login.keychain to "login-old.keychain".
Rename login_renamed_1.keychain to "login.keychain".
You can then close the folder.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Delete the login keychain from the keychain list. Choose Delete References when prompted, not Delete References & Files.
Select
File ▹ Add Keychain...
from the menu bar. Add back the file now named "login.keychain". If any of your needed keychain items are missing from it, also add back the file now named "login-old.keychain". I suggest you transfer any needed items from that keychain to the login keychain, then delete it. The transfers are made by drag-and-drop in Keychain Access. You'll need to enter your password for each item transferred.
Select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain. Quit Keychain Access.

I don't know how large the SSD (solid state hard drive) is, or how big your iPhone 5 is, but with some iPhones having 64GB and some Airs having as little as 64GB and some having as much as 512GB it's not hard to see how storing the contents of your iPhone 5 on your Macbook Air could run you out of space.
Go to the Macbook Air and bring up a finder window and pull the Go menu down and go to the Computer. Right click on the Macintosh HD and select get info. See if there is any available space on the MacBook Air. If not you are out of SSD space (you're storing more on your Macbook Air than it has storage for). I'm not sure if iTunes can store its library on an external hard drive or quite how you would make that happen. But even if you managed that, when the hard drive was disconnected, you would lose access to your library. Using a smart media card might be possible (I don't know) but it would probably be irritatingly slow. If you have a small Air and a big iPhone you might just have to find a different computer to sync to. Just remember a 64GB iPhone is a big chunk of SSD for a Macbook Air. I did it with my previous and my current Air but even my previous one had 256GB and I really just fit.

My Macbook Pro has died and before I send it for repair I would like to get all my Mails off it onto my Macbook Air. I have both the syatem disc and a Time Machine backup.
Is there a utility to do this or anything I need to look out for or make invisible files visible (and if so how on Mavericks).
I have been very much against putting much on iCloud, I am beginning to have second thoughts now...

If your email Provider uses POP, that setup is geared toward ONE computer fetching the emails off the Mail Server, reading them, and storing them locally (on your Mac). The Server deletes them after a while (but you can specify how long before it does that delete).
If your email Provider uses IMAP, that is geared toward one OR MORE computers reading emails, but the Master Copy continues to be stored on the Server. This makes it easy to use Multiple devices, and "Copying" is completey optional. But your Server mailbox can get really BIG unless you prune un-needed old emails and especially attachments.
iCloud, AOL, and Yahoo are some of the popular services that can be configured to use IMAP.
iCloud (possibly others as well) is set to transfer your messages encrypted. I am not sure whether they are stored encrypted.

I took away my backup disk with me so just took it from there excellent. I am back home at present working on my imac. When I go to use my macbook air on these projects (when away on boat) is it easiest to simply copy the Project and Events folders in total from my imac onto the other machine and do the same upon my return in reverse? The physical disks are OK with MacBook Air if you buy a cheap external DVD drive and connect via USB. That's how I install DVD software on my MacBook Air.
That said, you can download the software from http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cs5-direct-download-links.html
Follow the Very Important Instructions on that page first otherwise the links won't work.

While it sees the photos that were taken on the camcorder, it does not seem to see the videos as when I select the import function it does not show anything listed under the camcorder when it is plugged into the macbook via usb. You can move videos or photos taken with iPad by connecting your iPad camera to Dropbox.

I have tried a few multople key combinations. I would be very grateful if someone could post one that might ensure that any applications quit before re-starting.

Try Force Quit.
Press command + option + esc keyboard keys together at the same time.
Wait.
When Force Quit window appears, select Mail if not already.
Press Force Quit button at the bottom of the window.
Wait.
Mail will quit.
