Can logon/logoff be forced in HANA studio?

Hello,
Is there a configuration option available within HANA studio that would force users to logon each time HANA studio starts? I've gone through the security and administration guides and haven't found anything covering this.
Thanks, Paul

Hi,
For me note 2122492 - SAP HANA System cannot be attached to BW modeling project solved the issue.

  • 30 days HANA trial: can I recreate VM for "SAP HANA Studio" in cloudshare?

    Dear experts,
got the VM's for the 30 days trial both up and running.
Is it possible to recreate the VM's  mentioned below to start from scratch again ?
    a. SAP HANA SPS5 server
    Installed: SAP HANA SPS5 server
    OS: SUSE Enterprise 11 SP1 64 bit
    OS: Linux
    State: Running
    b. SAP HANA Studio
    Installed:
    • SAP HANA studio
    • SAP HANA client
    • Office Professional Plus 2010 SP1
    • Visio 2010 Premium Edition
    OS: Windows 7 Pro x64 SP1
    OS: Windows
    State: Running

    Thanks for reply,
As SLT is based on ABAP, so we can write complex logic in it.
But if we talk about SAP ECC standard data source, they have complex logic, based on multiple table.
So we need to write code from scratch in SLT to derive same result. but it will be huge time consuming , and required good ABAP skills, also it will lead to bug in code.
Also it will reduce the real time performance of SLT, due to complex logic.
Second option is procedure via SQL script, which is again huge effort in term if logic and can lead to error/bug in logic.
Does we have any other way or architecture to do this is very simple way, with high performance and less error issue.

  • Can we import Composite provider, Hybrid provider, Virtual Porvider, Advance DSO, Transient Provider to HANA Studio?

    Hi to all,
Can we import Composite Provider, Hybrid Provider, Virtual Provider, Advance DSO to HANA Studio.
    If yes then How?
Note: we are already on BW on HANA
    Regards
    Pavneet Rana

    Hi Pavneet,
As per SAP development strategy Hybrid, virtual and transient providers will be replaced by composite provider. New design are recommended in new composite provider.
Advance DSO and composite provider can designed and modified via BW modeling tools.
You need bw modeling tools 1.5 and above is recommended.
    SAP Development Tools for Eclipse
In order order to use Advanced DSO you need BW 7.4 SP 9.

  • I don't have PAL schema in my HANA Studio

Hello all, I was studying and trying to solve some problems I'm having with Hana/Predictive Analysis. I was showing some error of insufficient privileges while trying to run some algorithms.
So then I was whatching the following video:
    http://www.saphana.com/docs/DOC-3261
I don't have the schema named PAL in my HANA Studio, and I don't know what I was doing wrong, and couldn't find the solution anywhere.
And to make this troubleshooting , I need to set with the schema PAL.
PS: I already have the AFL package installed, and also the WRAPPER_GENERATOR (I didn't have wrapper generator in my Studio, so then I got it from a friend of mine, and executed without any kind of error.
So then I want to know:
Did I miss any steps in configuration? Or I need to do any other installation?
    Regards

Go to the link below, download and install the program. Please read the instructions on the page.
    http://culater.net/software/SIMBL/SIMBL.php
Then go to the link below, download and extract the program. Put the program in the plugins folder created above.
    http://cooviewerzoom.web.fc2.com/colorfulsidebar.html
Force quit Finder and when you open a new Finder window, you should have color in the sidebar, although not across the top. You will need to Force quit Finder and open a new window after almost all restarts and startups.
    Not perfect, but it works.
As an alternative, you can go to the link below and download the program. In the Lion Tweaks section, there is a tweak to restore color in the Finder sidebar, but I haven't tried it, so I don't know if it works.
    Hope this helps.

  • Locked out of System in HANA Studio

The system locked me out saying that I had reached the maximum number of attempts. I am using a instance on the HANA Cloud Platform and connect to it by creating a tunnel. Once 24 hours are up the tunnel closed and when i started it up again it gave a new password to the system on HANA. When I started up HANA Studio the next day the system tried to reconnect but locked me out. Also locked out of the repository. Is there any way to fix this issue?

yes, but how can the system tell me that i am unlocked, if i can connect with "neo open-db-tunnel" but if i want to logon that sysem within eclipse it does not work, because i am locked? Something is wrong by default ... or i am, and that is what i want to figure out.
Fortunately the lock disappeared (for whatever reason yesterday evening).
But right at the moment i cannot logon via your version 1 (which seems to be a niceer way than the "neo open-db-tunnel"). It worked today morning, but not any more ...
I can choose my "Trial Instance", but then when trying to connect the system tells me i cannot add that cloud system and shows me a "NullPointerException" ...
version 2 is not a version i want to try ... seems to complicated and not realistic ...
And even more funny, when i do the oldfashione neo open-db-tunnel way, it connects with my shell, but if i want to logon within eclipse with the uptodate password from the shell, it tells me "Logon to SAP system host failed" and the reason is invalid credentials.
I am now totally confused ... and even more i again cannot proceed ... this is frustrating ...
thanks for any valuable hint ...

  • Change user session language in HANA Studio

    Hi All,
I have created a calculation view and used text join with a text table. The text table contains description in 2 language (say English and German).
When I check of the output of the calculation view via SQL query (or data preview), only the english description is coming; which is perfect.
My question is, how does HANA studio knows that my user session language is English? Can I change it to a different language?
Say I want to see the German description. How can I get that?
    Regards,
    Raja

    Hi Raja
You can change the language settings in the properties dialog for the logon data.
As the logon language is set at logon time, you need to re-connect after changing the settings to see the effect.
BTW: this question had been answered already several times - using the search bar is not a crime...

  • What does activiate do after a file is checked in on Hana studio?

I came from a development background.  Typically after I check in or commit a file to a repository, other developer will be able to see my changes after a checkout.  In Hana studio, there is an additional step called 'activate'.  What exactly does it do? Can other developers see my changes before activate?  If not, then let say other developers make changes to the same set of files that has not been activated, when will the merge take place?

When you commit you are saving a copy of your object in your private, inactive workspace on the server. This allows you to save a copy on the server in the database but not yet overwrite the executable version. This also allows multiple users to work on the same object at the same time without overwriting each others changes.  XSODATA, XSJS, and static web content can even be tested in their inactive state; allowing a developer to test their changes before setting them to the active version.
If two developers are editing at the same time and the first activates, their changes become the new active version.  When the second developer activates, they receive a message that other changes were made in the mean time.  The second developer then has three choices - 1. discard their changes and check out the active version. 2. discard the active version on the server and force overwrite with their local version. 3. open the split screen merge editor and merge the two versions into one new version.  Option #3 is probably the option that should be chosen 90% of the time.

  • Unable to connect to HANA Studio on CAL using Microsoft Azure

    Hi
I have created a new instance in CAL on Microsoft Azure. I have started and activated the instance. In Azure also its in started mode and I am being billed. But then when I login using SYSTEM as user name and the Password that I created while setting up my instance in CAL, I get a message saying, "Invalid username or password".
I gave the Public IP address in putty, the port by default is 22. I clicked on open but I am getting a message, network error: Connection time out.
I opened HANA Studio and gave the public IP address, instance 00, User Name as system and password is the one I created during setting up of my instance in CAL. But I am unable to login here aswell.
Can any one please explain me what the issue is? Do I have to reset my password? How do I do that in CAL? Or is it any issue with the IP addresses?
As a technology its a good feature to access HANA on cloud but from user friendliness I find it very tough to access. I had same problems with AWS also. Good old days was good when you opened SAP Logon pad and accessed the system straightaway with single sign on. Is it possible to have some thing like single sign on while accessing HANA Studio on Cloud. I don't want to be entering the IP address each and every time I connect. And half the time the IP address doesn't connect.
    Please assist.
    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Pavan.

Are you sure the proper ports are opened and that your network is allowing you to actually access those specific ports?
Are you able to go to http://IP OF SYSTEM:8000 or http://IP OF SYSTEM:80 do either load up a page for you?

  • HANA Studio: Installation and usage

    Hi,
I am currently retaking the the introduction course in the HANA development and wonder about the HANA studio GUI presented there.
    Installation:
I see on the HANA Dev site that there is the Studio and the Client. Do I need both for installation? Or is in the studio already the client provided? If not, why are they separated? (instead of combined?)
Short: What is finally required for installation?
Plus in the intro on the second unit it is mentioned that I have to install as well some regi (???) client to access the HANA repositories. Is this still true? Also reg. config I see in the 1.0.80 version not the config-items as mentioned in the video. So, do I need them? resp. where to configure them?
    Usage:
And last but not least I wonder about the statement that the System View is not much used. Better use the Project Explorer (or so). According to the video you could create your own files with the extensions you like and they will automatically associate with the proper editor. Is it really that in daily business the System View is hardly used? One creates his/her own files with appending the appropriate file ending?
    roland

    >Since everything is done in the System View (e.g. create an Analytic View) where is it stored?
It doesn't matter if you use the Systems View or the Project Explorer; the content is stored the same place/way on the server. When you save/commit in either tool the content is always stored in the HANA Repository.  The HANA Repository is just a set of database tables (_SYS_REPO schema).
    >Before activation and after?
You shouldn't really go picking around in the Repository database tables, but if you are curious before activation the content is stored in _SYS_REPO.INACTIVE_OBJECT and after activation in _SYS_REPO.ACTIVE_OBJECT.
    >Therefore that I cannot switch forth and back with versions of a View, correct?
If you use the project explorer you can just access the version management from the History tab and restore or compare from any previous versions:
    >When I follow your video, than I create first a package in the System, which will be updated in my repository view. Checkout, checkin, compare old vs. older version, etc. can only be done in the Repository View, correct?
You have to keep in mind that the Systems view was created before we really had a developer perspective in HANA Studio. It was design with Information Modeling (view creation) only in mind. Therefore in SPS05 when we added the developer perspective and many of the new development artifacts we introduced the repository and project explorer view.  When you create a package via either tool - they are the same thing. However if you want to then work with a project or any of the newer development artifacts you must check out the project from the repository view and edit the objects via the project explorer.
    >Is it also possible to check (resp. compare) if something in a folder structure was changed?
Changed by someone else after you checked it out? If so, you usually would just do another check out from the project.  Otherwise you will find any conflicts when you activate.
    >In SPS08 the project is automatically connected with the Team and I don't have to do anything further, like Share. Correct?
Correct.  We continue to make usability enhancements and the automatic sharing of a project during the project creation wizard is one of those.  We will continue with such enhancements in SPS09 - allowing the project creation wizard to also general some of the basic development artifacts (like xsapp and xsaccess) for you.  You might be interested to know that we have a new openSAP course for HANA development starting at the beginning of October and it is based upon SPS08 and will showcase these improved workflows.
    >For SPS08 is there an easier way to create the .xsaccess-file?
There is a new wizard that inserts a template content. It certainly shouldn't lock up your system to choose the wizard. Not sure why that would happen.  You can also use the HANA Application Lifecycle Management tools and its Application Creation Wizard to generate the initial development objects with template content. For the complete list of all available options, please refer to the developers' guide on help.sap.com.
    >Editor = at least two tabs, one with drop-down lists and one with text-files
Not within the Studio.  After you have created the XSACCESS File it can be 'configured' via the XS Admin web interface. Not all options of the xsaccess file can be set from the XS Admin tool yet, however. Today you can mainly configure the authentication options.
In SPS09 we will extend these options to also include the CORS and Headers configuration:
    >Does this mean, the files are automatically synced?
They are automatically committed upon any create or save operation.  Originally in SPS05 you had to always choose to commit via a context menu.  To improve the user experience we changed this to automatic. The manual commit menu option is still there (team->commit from the right mouse context menu). However it is really only needed if something goes wrong with the communication to the server or if you were developing offline and then want to force sync with the server at a later time.
    >Since in the connection no specifics reg. server, port is provided I wonder how the magic is done
No magic.  The XSJS code executes within the database.  There is nothing for it to connect to since by its very definition it is always running within the database. The XS server isn't a separate application server connecting via JDBC or ODBC.  The main point of XS is that it is a light weight application server fully embedded within the database.

  • Adding BW Modelling plugins in HANA Studio

    Hello Experts,
I installed SAP HANA Studio in my local machine (outside C:Program Files, i.e in  D Drive)
I followed 2 options to install BW Modelling Tools Plugin, both have been unsuccessful. Can some one please let me know what is missing.
I checked the pre-requisites mentioned in the installation document (http://help.sap.com/download/netweaver/bwmt/SAP_BW_Modeling_Tools_Installation_Guide_en.pdf) and my system has all the necessary ones.
    Option 1
    - Followed the instructions mentioned in the https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/
    - HANA Studio --> Help --> Install New Software --> Provide the link https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/luna
    - I get the below error
Unable to connect to repository https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/luna/content.xml
    Connection to https://tools.hana.ondemand.com refused
    Option 2
      - Download latest patch from Service market place
      - HANA Studio --> Help --> Install New Software --> Provide the Archive path
      - Error message I get is below,
Missing requirement: BW Core UI 1.6.3 (com.sap.bw.core.ui 1.6.3) requires 'bundle com.sap.adt.destinations.ui 2.18.0' but it could not be found

    Thanks for providing some hints.

If SAP could provide the HANA tools over just http:// instead of https:// then it would work under proxy conditions with the network connectivity option in eclipse set to "native" mode

  • HANA Studio: Filter more than one catalog schema

    Hi,
Simply a usability question: Is it possible to filter a list of schemas in the catalog folder of HANA studio. I see only, that I can filter one pattern of a schema name. I would like to reduce the visible schemas in the catalog folder according to an arbitrary free to be chosen list of schemas.
    Did I miss something?
    Thanks,
    Ingo

    Hello Ingo Peter,
Very interesting question but I really doubt if it is possible!
Even giving 2nd Schema name will overwrite the earlier filtered Schema

  • List of logon/logoff activity for a user in specfied date range

    Hello all,
We have a requirement to check the activity of two users. It is requested that we get their logon/logoff and timeout activity in our PRD system for a specfic range of dates.  To retrieve that info do we have to be auditing their user ID's or can it be retrieved via ST03N or some other report?
I was not sure whether this information would be available via a lookup in the USR02 table or not.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

Unfortunately login has more than one spot as it is dependent on contexts and authorizations even.
Logoff could be network problems with a keepalive timeout, or server side session end, or client side termination (there are many clients).
Hopefully we will have more infos. Perhaps we can influence the authentication and client protocol because SAML supports single-log-off which might work with message based authentication but lead to a rather long log...
    Cheers,
    Julius

  • How to create and add a logon/logoff script to populate last user into the computer field in AD

    Hi All,
    Bit stuck here,
Not sure what forum to put this is as it involves different subjects,
I work in a Server 2008 RT environment and have access to Active Directory etc.
    I saw this a few weeks ago - http://ivan.dretvic.com/2012/10/automatically-generate-description-field-for-computers-in-active-directory/
Now, I'm not particularly sure what to do here, I don't know how to create a group policy etc. How to implement it in a test environment etc. Never done this before.
Can somebody give me a step by step guide on literally everything that would be involved in this?
Or any links that may be able to help?
I basically want the AD to show who was the last user that logged into a specific client when the client named is searched for in the Computers OU, and if possible being able to pull the make/model and serial number from the client aswell.
If possible there should be a way of including this with the existing login script that we already have, how can I do this?
I've tried a few so far and got stuck, I have domain admin priveledges also.
    Thanks,
    Regards, Max.

    Hi Max,
Please refer to the following article to learn how to create a logon/logoff script via GPO:
