Can LR 4 use Bridge CS5 Metadata Templates?

I have generated approx 30 + Metadata Templates in Bridge CS5 and I want to see if I can speed up my work flow when working in Lightroom 4.
So I suppose the question is ; is it possible to achieve the apparent impossible or is there a solution?

The fact that they have 2 versions of ACR means that initial support for the D800 was added in 6.7 but that complete support was finalized in 7.1 (the 4.1 in the chart is for Lightroom)
I'm not sure that this means there are missing features, but rather refinements and optimized settings were added in 7.1
However, ACR 7.1 requires CS6.
As Dag mentioned, you can also use the latest version of DNG Converter to convert the D800 files to DNGs which will be able to be opened in older versions of ACR.
The DNG converter only works on folders of files, not individual files. So just select the folder and convert. All the files in the folder will be converted.

I have a question sort of relevant to this discussion. Had my 8800GT start to fail on me in my MacPro1,1 - in desperation I disassembled the card, cleaned it, applied fresh thermal compound/padding, and stuck it back in. To my amazement the card actually began working again! Before failing a few days later ; ;.
I ordered a replacement 8800GT on ebay for a considerably low cost, but before it arrived my computer began behaving normally again. From what I'm understanding from this thread, there is absolutely no benefit to installing both cards in my computer at the same time? If that's the case, I'm going to tuck the backup card away and keep riding my self-repaired card until it crashes again.

I'm experiencing the same problem. Don't think I can help, but maybe I can offer an explanation. It looks as if Flickr has changed their API and Adobe will need to update the export plugin to comply to get it working again. I found this announcement on Flickr:

Stop importing duplicate photos from camera using Bridge CS5?

Hi,
I'm having a few importing photo's using Bridge CS5, as I'm on holidays at the moment I'm trying to keep my photo's on both my laptop as well as leaving a copy on the SD card of the camera (as a form of backup), however whenever I import photo's from the camera Bridge is creating a duplicate (e.g. file-2.jpg, file-3.jpg etc). Is there any way to stop this behaviour and only import new photo's?

Hi Curt, that should work but I was hoping that there might be an option somewhere to not import photo's which are duplicates.. I guess maybe not..

If it worked before and you have changed nothing I would reset the preferences. Close Bridge then hold down the CTRL key and start Bridge. You should get a reset window with 3 optons.

Can't update Adobe Bridge CS5

I just reinstalled Photoshop CS5 on my new replacement desktop processor. I tried to update it but kept getting the message to close Adobe Bridge CS5. It is closed. I've tried the following suggestions from the FAQs: (1) Went to Task Manager and confirmed that Adobe Bridge is closed. (2) Tried to go to Edit>Preferences>Advanced to tell PS not to load Bridge at launch. There is no Advanced and no check/uncheck capability. (3) Tried to download the 12.0.3 patch but can't find it anywhere in the downloads showing to me. HELP!

I finally found the answer to my question by continuing to search. Adobe Bridge was running in the background. To stop it, I had to go to Task Manager>Processes. Additionally, Edit>Preferences>Advanced was in Adobe Bridge -- not Photoshop. I'm all squared away.

I have a photoshop CS5 and it works fine except Bridge CS5.
It works fine on my Mac OSX 10.5.8 but it does not work on my new Mac OS X 10.8.2.
When I try to open Bridge from photoshop CS5, error messeage appears and it says " Error2: photoshop is undefined.Line 1->photoshop invokeBridge(false,false,".
When I click Bridge icon, error messeage says " Adobe Bridge CS5 quit unexpectedly.

Bridge CS5, metadata searching and video previews

Hello everyone, my first post here and I'm hoping to receive a little assistance or a point in the right direction.
Here's a brief history of my issue. I'm a military videographer assigned to a new unit and I am trying to build a video library. I'm shooting with a Sony EX1 and completely tapeless -- which is new territory for me. As I increase the size of my video library I'd like to utilize Bridge as a method of searching for, previewing, and retrieving video files. Bridge certainly seems capable of performing all those tasks; but I am having issues.
To begin with, it seems the tags I place on a .mp4 in Premiere Pro (PP) using the Project Panel don't appear in Bridge. What I mean by this is if I place keywords on a clip in PP and then search for those keywords in Bridge no search results are returned. I figured maybe the issue is the keywords are only useful within PP, although I thought those keywords were saved as metadata with the .mp4 file. I relented with using PP to log my video clips and instead tested out OnLocation (OL). Using OL I noticed some of the metadata I placed on my .mp4 files did show up within the Metadata Panel in Bridge but when I attempt to perform a search I only get results if I am within the folder the .mp4 exists in. If I am in a parent directory to the folder the .mp4's directory is in then I get zero search results.
I thought I might be able to work around this issue by using the Sony software that came with my camera called Clip Browser. With this program I can save some basic metadata such as title, creater, and description but again when I attempt to search for any of that information in Bridge, I get no query results.
Ideally what I would like to be able to do is use PP to log metadata for my .mp4 clips and store those clips in directories based on categories (i.e. Training, Aircraft, Personnel, etc.) Then whenever I needed to find a certain kind of shot, perform a quick Bridge search based on keywords or caption information to retrieve the footage I want. I'm uncertain whether I have stumbled upon an issue with cross-communication between the programs concerning metadata or perhaps I am missing a step or doing something else incorrectly.
Finally, as great an idea as I feel I have, the whole thing is a wash currently because I cannot preview any .mp4 within the Bridge application. I simple get a movie icon and no playback. Linking back up with the grand-scheme, after I search for a clip I'd like to be able to preview the results in Bridge to pick the best footage from the available clips.
My post is a little long and I hope somewhere in there I detailed my issues clearly. I appreciate any help anyone can offer. Thanks for taking your time to respond.

Several issues here, so will try to address them, and welcome to the forum.
1. I have never used Premiere Pro, but believe it uses a database for the keywords, while Bridge writes the keywords to the image. In the case of a RAW file, and perhaps video files it writes them to an XMP file. I believe there is an option in PP to write the metadata to file rather than database, and then Bridge can read it.
2. For the search to work the folders must be indexed. This occurs when you visit the folder, or you can force the issue by clicking on the box "include non-indexed folders". Also the search goes from the start position and goes down the directory tree, so you need to start the search above where you want to search.
3. Preview of mpeg files is still a problem. Adobe staff from PP has entered the fray as using the K-lite codec package is causing problems in PP and other Adobe programs. Herfe is the link to the rather long discussion. It is still ongoing. http://forums.adobe.com/thread/652660?tstart=30

Why can't I use the CS5 inDesign that I purchased?

Five months ago, I bought a new iMac. It took weeks to transfer or install my old software onto this new computer (because the new iMacs no longer have disc drives and most of the original software was installed from discs). Finally I got it to the point where everything works OK. Except for inDesign CS5. I ended up having to buy an external disc drive so I could see if I installed the software using the original disc it would work.
Still -- when I attempt to open a new inDesign document, I get the endless spinning wheel. When I attempt to open a document that was created in CS5, I get a message saying that I will need additional plugins and that the only way I can open this document is if I subscribe to CS6 by paying the Adobe monthly fee for the rest of my life.
So, I give up -- because I figure this is a dictatorship of the corporations and Apple has conspired with Adobe to trick people into buying new computers while telling them that they will be able to use them with the old software, when in fact they will be forced to buy the new Adobe monthly subscription (whether you can afford it or not).
I give up on trying to work on my new Apple computer and I re-install the old inDesign CS5 software on my old computer (where I had deactivated CS5). But again, same message when I attempt to open documents that were created in inDesign CS5 and never opened by any version other than CS5: You cannot open this document without the necessary plugins, which can only be had by subscribing to the monthly fee to get CS6.
So, now this is beyond the normal capitalist system of corporate illegal activity. This is outright theft. Even in third world countries, corporations give you something for your money.

Can't help with the error, but you don't need discs to install CS5, you can just download the trial and use your serial number to activate.

Help removing old user ID for C3 so I can edit website using trial CS5

Hello all, I used to manage my website using Contribute 3 but it kept having hanging issues (I'm using MAC OS X 10.5.8) while editing - had to force quit numerous times. Decided to download a trial version of CS 5 which has been working fine except that it won't let me edit one page of my site stating "You can't perform the operation on this page now because DHinden (insert e-mail address) is currently editing or reviewing it". DHinden was my old user ID for Contribute 3, I guess it didn't 'log me out' properly when I force quit the program. Does anyone have any solutions to this situation? I've tried re-installing C3 but it hasn't worked. Not sure if there's anything I can do using the trial version of CS5. Would appreciate any help. Thanks and advance for your assistance. Can you check in the Manage Sent Drafts dialog, whether the page is listed or not? To open the Manage Sent Drafts dialog, click Edit -> Administer Websites -> Manage Sent Drafts menu item. Note that, you should have created your website connection before. And, to see the list of all the drafts in review, you should connect as Administrator.
If you see that the page is listed in the Manage Sent Drafts dialog, select the draft, and do Undo Checkout, or Change Owner and assign the draft to yourself.

Can I still use the CS5.5 Master Collection that I purchased before the Creative Cloud came into existence?

I purchased the CS5.5 Master Collection in 2011. Then later when I was still in school, my school bought me a subscription to the Creative Cloud. I had some health problems and had to go on a health break from school.
Now, I am getting closer to being healthy enough to go back to school, possibly in the winter term 2014. I would like to use the CS 5.5 Master Collection that I purchased to refresh my skills before I go back to school. Will I be allowed to use them under the new policies? I read the terms but I am not a lawyer and it gave me a headache but no real clear answers to this question. Can someone answer this for me?

Not that I am aware of, you can use it to load data into planning essbase database.
You may read about FDM loading metadata in version 11 but this is using the ERP integrator which sits on top of ODI.

I am sure this has been asked before for similar new camera buyers, but as I have made a sizeable investment in purchasing PS 5 less than one year ago, I expect ADOBE to have an upgrade available for my new Nikon D7100 camera.
Other Software makers usually have upgrades available to download for new cameras not long after they are released.
I have seen on some photography forums where other users of my camera model have asked the same question as myself without receiving any positive advice other than to up grade to PS 6. A few suggestions do not work or are possibly illegal.
Under consumer laws, in many countries, software makers are obliged to maintain support for a reasonable period of time after release.
Come on Adobe, please help the many thousands of PS 5 and Lightroom users to use the Adobe software that they have purchased in good faith and we will move to PS 6 or 7 or 8 when we are ready.
Can we please expect an answer to this problem any time soon ?

Why did you purchase an obsolete version? One year ago Photoshop CS6 had already been out a while.

This is a user to user Forum, so you are not really addressing Adobe here, even though some Adobe employees thankfully have been dropping by.
Adobe is not in the habit of adding support for new cameras to obsolete versions of Camera Raw.
But it offers the free DNG Converter.

And camera makers are free to adopt DNG if they want to make their cameras’ output easily editable with non-proprietary software, but it seems many of them simply don’t want that.

Bridge CS5 Metadata

In the EXIF portion of the metadata for images shot with my Nikon D300s DSLR, Exposure Mode is described as "Auto." Is there a way of equating this description with the actual camera settings I use, because the camera has no exposure settings of "Auto." Solutions appreciated.

Another thought. I said I shoot in P for program mode rather than A for Auto on Nikon. Techincally both are auto mode, and that is probably what camera sends out.
True manual mode is where you set the f stop and shutter speed by looking at meter reading. Very few use manual settings anymore with modern cameras.
We pick some programed mode where the camera determins the exposure, or you pick one variable (shutter speed) and camera picks the other (aperature). Still auto mode I would guess.
