Can Lync messages store at local in stead of on server?

Hi All,
Lync is convenient and helpful to communicate inside company.
I used to keep old messages since they might contain some useful information,
but as time goes by, old messages become more and more, and they occupies limited quota on Exchange server.
Is it possible to let Lync store messages store (or maybe download) to local computer in stead of on Exchange server?
Thanks.
Ming-Hung.Hung

You could do this by exporting the folder from Outlook to a PST, or adding a PST file and dragging and dropping old conversations into it locally.

  • Can't log in to local user when connected to server

We used to have 3 local accounts on each of our machines: 2 required a password, and 1 did not.
Then we hooked up our server and students have been logging into it. We haven't really touched the local accounts since then. Now I need to get access to the local account with no password. I can access it only if I disconnect the machines from the network, but I can't get into it otherwise. I have tried giving the account a password, but it still won't work once I hook back up to the network.
How can I get access to this account without having to disconnect every time? The other 2 local accounts work with no problem.
    Thanks for any insight!
    Nancy

You can use SS management studio to connect to DB. What you need to do, is to ensure your connection string is something like
    <connectionStrings>
    <add name="conn2" connectionString="Data Source=192.?.?.?\your_db_instance;Initial Catalog=your_db_schema;Integrated Security=False;User ID=your_db_login;Password=??????" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/>
    </connectionStrings>
within Web.config/app.config file in your project, to ensure the project will work fine with the database.

  • When using Message Filters on an IMAP account I often get duplicate messages in my local folder where important messages are put. How can I stop this?

Since switching to IMAP and using message filters, I often get duplicate messages in my local folders. I think this is a bug.
That is my guess as to what is happening.
When the IMAP part starts syncing with the server to fill in the inbox, the message filter system starts working before it is done syncing. I appears that the filters runs too quickly because as the filter moves a msg to a local folder, the sync thread think it need to download it again from the server. If the sync with the remote server takes a long time, I could end up with 5 or more copies of the exact same email.
This has always happened for years now but I figured someone would have noticed it and fix it by now. Now I am wondering it it has something to do with my filters or my settings.
Has anyone run into this before?

    Toys,
I was just doing a search to see if anyone else was feeling this way! I am also at a university and I don't really like see thousands of unread messages in mail. (Fortunately, with Leopard you can select the dock icon to show only the messages in your inbox but I still don't like having the public folder in there).
Please let me know if you find out anything and I will do the same for you. If I have time later I am going to run by our IT office later and ask them.

  • How can I delete messages from the local Sent folder without deleting from the remote server?

I am running out of disk space on my local machine. Analysing this, I can see that a large amount of space is being taken up by local storage of Sent emails from my IMAP synchronised account.
I do not see how I can delete the local copies from my PC without them being deleted from the Server as well. There is an account setting option under Synchronisation and Storage to delete messages, but it says they will be deleted from both the local machine and the remote server.
I need to keep the server versions as these are business accounts and it is important I have all my old messages stored somewhere.

Short answer: get a bigger hard disk.
You could disable synchronization and free up the space on your local disk without loosing the messages. However, this would eliminate the possibility to create backups of your messages.<br>
Since you mentioned this is important business mail, you shouldn't take chances.

  • How can i route smtp client in multiple messaging store servers environment

In multiple messaging store servers environment, how can i route smtp client to the host which was specified in user's ldap "mailhost" attribute, just likes route pop client through mmp.
does mmp can do it? or any other idea?
    thx a lot~!

So, you want to add a text line to some messages, but not all?
That's going to be pretty complex, actually.
First, if all your mail is text, adding a text footer isn't all that difficult, it's done through the conversion channel.
But filtering that, so you only do it for some users, isn't going to be easy at all.
If you can get your users to point their clients to a particular MTA, then you can add the tag on that mta, only.
Please note, that a text tag on a text mail is possible. Adding to an HTML mail is FAR more complex, and not a job for somebody not extremely familiar with MIME and building such.

My wifi works fine and I can access the store fine, but when I try to install an app, I get the message "cannot connect to iTunes store"

I am guessing there is an issue with the store right now considering so many people are having the same problem on different platforms. I can't access it with my iPod Touch 4th Gen, yet my wifi is working and I can access the internet using other apps, but when I go to update a couple of apps from the iPod, I get the same error message after I try to sign in to the store.

  • Why can't I edit the local version of address book

Since iCloud I can no longer edit the local version of my address book.  In addition adding addresses from Mail no longer saves them to address book, it does seem to put them somewhere but I have no idea where, they don't appear to go icloud either.  I need to manually create them.
I am on the latest version of Lion, and a 2011 Macbook Pro.
Syncing-wise icloud is excellent and it keeps my phone up to date.  But if I am off-line I can't edit details into address book.  Its a minor inconvenience, as I can use my phone easily, but it is quicker to use the macbook.
    Any advice?

Open the Mac App Store and download OS X Mavericks. Do you see any error message?
Note that OS X Mavericks requires a Late 2008 Aluminum or Early 2009 or newer MacBook, so if you have got an older Mac, the Mac App Store will show you a message telling you that your MacBook is not compatible. In that case, the only thing you can do is to stay with the Mac OS X version you are running

    Hello,
We are running iPlanet 5.2 Messaging Server and need to migrate to another (duplicate) 5.2 Messaging Server. We have all the software installed and the LDAP user accounts created. Now we just need to move the existing mail from one server to the other.
I found the Backing Up and Restoring the Message Store section in the Admin Guide says to back up and restore your data, Messaging Server provides the imsbackup and imsrestore utilities.
However I am wondering about the Queue?

What is the difference between the Message Store

Thanks in advance for any advice.

The queue is where messages are temporarily stored, pending delivery to wherever they go.
You can use tar, cpio, or what have you for the queue. Stop the server first. . .
You then just restore the files to the new server. No need to restart or anything like that. Just dump the files in, and run
    imsimta cache -sync

Can I just backup and restore the
    Queue using tar or cpio?

  • Does JMS support reliable messaging (store-and-forward) for app clients?

I need to write an enterprise application client (launched with Java web start or packaged with a tool like Sun's package-appclient) that can send messages reliably from Linux to Windows. JMS seems like the obvious solution, so I deployed an EAR file with an MDB and an application client on a Windows machine (running SJSAS 9). I was able to download the client jar file onto Linux and send JMS messages successfully. However, if the Windows machine is not available, the Linux client immediately throws exceptions and fails. Are there any JMS providers that provide a store-and-forward mechanism for enterprise clients, so that if the remote server is not available immediately, messages are delivered later? (Note that the client can't be a servlet or other server-managed component.)
I'd prefer an open-source solution, but this requirement has an extremely high priority for my customer, so I'll use a commercial product if necessary. And if there's something other than JMS that works, that would be fine. (In my case, the messages on the remote side ultimately go to a .NET service, so WS-ReliableMessaging would be ideal, but it looks WS-RM won't be integrated into .NET until Vista, and the current WS-RM implementation is a beta, etc., etc.)
    Thanks,
    Mike

    You could use Apache ActiveMQ
    http://incubator.apache.org/activemq/
which supports embedded brokers inside each JVM which can be networked together in a store-forward mechanism so that each application keeps working and store-forwarding messages.
    http://incubator.apache.org/activemq/networks-of-brokers.html
or you can use failover transport to handle automatic reconnection...
    http://incubator.apache.org/activemq/how-can-i-support-auto-reconnection.html
If you need to communicate with some .Net you can use the NMS - the .Net Messaging API which has a client for ActiveMQ as well...

  • 2 users 1 computer one can connect to Store and Acct. the other can't

usin windows XP Service Pak2, not using windows firewall. Using Norton 360. We have downloaded and installed iTunes 9.1 we each have separate computer user profiles, separate iTunes libraries and separate itunes/Apple ID's and accounts
suggestions from Apple included checking for dowloads and entering Apple ID and Password and or doing MISCONFIG and checking configuration to allow iTunes/Apple through Firewall or other software. This isn't relevant to the situation. Please see my reply to Sandra at Apple Support. And I greatly appreciate any feedback or guidance:
This has nothing to do with downloading. from my son's computer user profile (windows XP, Norton 360) when he tries to log into the store he gets a connection error, when he clicks on store and enters his apple ID and password he gets a connection error. when he enters his apple ID and click forgot password he gets a connection error. I understand about firewalls but my question is we share the same computer and everything works fine for me. it is one computer, with one firewall (Norton 360) why does iTunes work fine for me on my computer user profile but not for my son on the same computer?
How could the firewall be an issue for one user but not another on the same computer? Since I can access iTunes store and my Apple account from the same computer stands to reason it is not a firewall/software problem. My account is on the same computer (but under my own profile) as my son's. everything works fine for me--- nothing on your server or attempting to connect to your server works for him. the fact that I can get to the Store, and to my apple account, and I can buy and download from my user profile on the same computer tells me it is not a firewall or other software issue
do you have any other thoughts?
thanks. R See my original support request below:Web Order # :

Specific request: I receive an error message when I try to connect to the iTunes Store
Error message user experienced: Cannot connect to iTunes Store
    Details:
I have checked my cables and connections, I have surfed to other site and Internet is working. I have 3 users with individual desktops and profiles. I am administrator. my son on his profile can access his library but cannot get to iTunes store to shop. we have shopped from this compter before.
He gets an error saying cannot connect to store, connection timed out check your connection. so I downloaded and installed iTunes 9.1. On my profile I can access Internet, iTunes and itunes store. I ran iTunes diagnostic on my profile and though I am in the iTunes store and can shop on my profile the diagnostic on my profile indicates:
    Firewall Information
Connection attempt to Apple web site was successful.
Connection attempt to iTunes Store was successful.
Secure connection attempt to iTunes Store was unsuccessful.
    The network connection timed out.
Secure connection attempt to iPhone activation server was successful.
Last successful store access was 2010-05-30 01:13:37.

    No external plug-ins installed.
    iPodService 9.1.1.12 is currently running.
    iTunesHelper is currently not running.
Apple Mobile Device service 3.0.1.0 is currently running.
My son clicks the store on his profile and the store never opens he just gets the error indicated above.
We do not use Windows Firewall. We use Norton 360

A user account specific issue like this has me wondering if there's an issue with the iTunes preference files in your son's Windows user account, renee. (There's a different set of those in each different account. So a preference file issue can cause trouble in one user account but not another.)
Even if you're not getting a -50, perhaps try the following document:
[iTunes 9: "One Moment Please" or "Error (-50)" message when accessing iTunes Store|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3288]
(Adjusting the Parental control preferences should be done inside your son's Windows user account. The command line technique can be done from within either account.)

  • Berkeley DB XML as Message Store

    Hi,
I need to build a 'Message Store' (as referred to in 'Enterprise Integration Patterns: Designing, Building, and Deploying Messaging Solutions') for our SOA. Components of the SOA are coupled by JMS / sockets and send XML messages to each other. The central message store would consume all messages and so provide a message history and allow comparison of messages for support, performance measurement, troubleshooting, etc.
One approach which occured to me would be lightweight Java framework on top of Berkeley DB XML, which would handle connectivity to all integration points.
All of our messages are small (< 5K) but some types are high frequency (say 2K/s).
Can anyone comment on this approach pls or share experiences pls?
    Many thanks!
    Pete

The short answer is that you need to shut down the FastCGI Perl script before you copy the files over, and then re-start it once the file copy is complete. Basically, what's happening is that FastCGI Perl script has cached data in file-system backed shared memory. When you replace the underlying files via an file system copy "under the covers" so to speak, the in-memory and on-disk data becomes out of sync. Subsequent access to the repository can fail in many ways, a core dump is often going to be the result.
If you don't want to shut down the FastCGI Perl script during the copy, there are several other options that you could consider.
    1) Copy the new files into a new/alternate directory location, stop/re-start the FastCGI Perl script when the copy is complete, pointing to the new location. That minimizes the "downtime" or,
    2) Delete and insert documents one at a time through the API or,
    3) Update documents one at a time through the API or,
    4) Truncate the container and insert the documents.
Options 2, 3 & 4 will allow the FastCGI Perl script to keep on running, but will probably take more time and may result in larger database files.
Replication really won't help much if your goal is to completely replace the repository once every 24 hours. The same action would have to be applied to the master and replicated to the other repository locations. The same action of "replace everything" is still occurring.
    I hope that this helps.
    Regards,
    Dave
