Can mac book pro cd rom support DVD + R

i have inserting a DVD + R which is DVD video format but it is unreadable is it some problem with my cd Rom?

Hi,
The MacBook does not have a dislike for that format but may have an allergy to the brand of disc you are using!!
For the record, my MacBook burns Sony DVD+R media flawlessly.

  • Mac book pro does not support more than 1 firewire

I had trouble saving my projects to external hard drive. I met with a Pro at the apple store. Claim that while using a firewire to import a project...brand new Mac Book pro cannot support 2 firewires at a time. An error comes up. So I simply used a USB to my external hard drive. was told this is not recommended but what is alternative?...Is it true I cannot use 2 firewires at once?

    Hello Mary,
I am reading between the lines, but it sounds like you want to connect a camcorder and an external firewire hard drive to your MacBook Pro at the same time ... and capture your video in FCE using the external hard drive as your capture scratch disk. Is this correct?
This can be done, and is done by many users, however SOME camcorders and SOME external firewire hard drives do not work very well together.
What make/model camcorder do you have, what make/model external hard drive(s) do you have?

  • Can mac book pros use mini dvd-r's?

I have a mac pro and was wondering if It is able to burn mini dvd-r's?any info would be helpfull. please email me at [email protected]

    Welcome to the Forums!
*NOT in the internal optical drive.* The mini discs will get stuck and possibly damage the drive. If you need to burn them, you need to get an external (tray-loading) optical drive. There are many that are Mac-compatible.
    Hope this helps...
FYI, don't expect too many of us to email you directly - you need to check back in your post(s) for answers from other users.
Also FYI, you may want to correct your profile - you have either a MacBook Pro or a Mac Pro. The Mac Pro is Apple's line of desktop computers, MacBook Pros are notebooks. Since you state 17", and you're posting in the MBP forum, I would assume you have a MacBook Pro.

  • Can Mac Book Pro play Bluray and can i sling that to apple tv?

    Can Macbook pro play Bluray

It's a DVD SuperDrive, not a Blu Ray! And if you were to plug one in, the OS won't have a clue as to what to do with it. The late lamented Steve Jobs, and Apple thus far, decided not to support the format, hence why you won't see one of those drives in a Mac.
You CAN get it to (eventually) play, but will have to purchase expensive third-party applications. Beside the expensive external drive. And you probably won't be able to "sling" it to your TV, cause that's precisely what the movie cabal doesn't want you to do.

  • How do I know if my Mac Book Pro and iMac support Windows 7 64 bit

How do I know if my Macbook Pro and iMac will support Windos 7 64 bit? Macbook Pro is 2.26 GHz Intel Duo Core and iMax is 3.06 GHz Intel Duo Core? I need a software application that runs only on Windows

as i know, all the macs with intel CPU will run 64bit version of windows. so dont worry! but choosing 32 bit or 64 bit version of windows usually depends on how much ram you have unless you have to use some application that requires 64bit windows. if you have more than 3GB of ram go for 64bit.

  • Does the Mac book pro take blue ray DVDs?

Does the MacBook Pro 13" have blue ray capabilities?

    No.
You can buy an external drive, it will work for data only.
Movie playback requires you to buy software.

  • Can mac book pro quadcore playout uncompressed full raster video?

Hello, I' ve a MBP quad core, 2,1 mhz, 500 GB HD, 7200 rpm, 8 GB RAM.
I'd like buying a AJA IO HD for video signals' connections and up-down conversions. IOHD can connect MBP by FW800. AJA claims chance to import-export (from/to laptop) uncompressed full raster 10 bit HD video by FW800, but it seems difficult for me to believe it, for  FW800 low  data rate (800 MB/s), respect HD uncompressed data rate (1,5 GB/s).
    Thanks for your answers

dont know what to say ... it works fine on mine
try trashing prefs, repairing permissions, re-booting, and all that jazz
try creating a new user account and see if it works there

It appears what happened is the installer though it was looking at a empty drive and just went ahead and installed.
I of course am assuming here you didn't use Disk Utility to format the drive first before installing, that would wipe out your files and programs for sure.
So what to do, what to do.
Well there is hope for you as long as the drive wasn't Filevaulted.
I'll explain. When a hard drive writes data for the first time to a drive, it starts at the very top and works it's way down.
When OS X was installed the first time, it was at the top of the drive, unless you upgraded then the upgraded OS X could have been written elsewhere.
Now when you just reinstalled OS X, the new OS went on the top of the drive, overwriting any data that was there previously, so what was there you have lost forever which is about 8GB or so. If it was the previous OS there, then your more in luck because only the old OS X was overwritten.
The remaining space on the drive still can have a copy of your files, provided it's not overwritten yet.
It's because when a hard drive deletes data or reformats, it doesn't remove the data off the drive or overwrites it immediately, it's just made so it's SPACE is available for new files to be written there.
So technically one can recover the deleted data off a non-encrypted/scrubbed hard drive with special software.
The way it does this is it reads the 1's and 0's of the files themselves, and through a lot of figuring out, can tell what that file is and what it belongs too.
So what you will have to do is this:
Create a data recovery/undelete external boot drive
or if you don't have the skills, then take it to a local PC/Mac tech and they can do a direct image of the drive and then you can run Data Rescue on it to rebuild your files.

  • How can i create dvds on my new mac book pro

I just purchased a new mac book pro retina and cant create dvds?

Apple decision to remove iDVD will deter me from recommending Mac to fellow Windows users.
Many other Mac users feel the same way.
    Leave feedback here:

Now that my newly bought Mac does not provided a avenue for me to burnt DVDs, I am
    really disappointed.
If you are still within your 15 day return period.  Call Apple they will sent out iDVD at no charge.  (There are no realistic substitutes.)
Nicely explain that you may return the computer without iDVD. That usually does the trick.  You MUST speak to a senior advisor to get a free copy. The first tier people cannot do it.

If that doesn't work you can purchase iLife 11  (includes iDVD) on disk.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.

  • Why can't I airplay mirror my Mac Book Pro (new) with my TV when I play a DVD on my Mac Book?

I can see the screen from my Mac Book Pro but the DVD movie only displays as a check board on my TV. If I choose to look at my Mac Book only it works fine. BR hp

I'm not certain but I think Airplay is a non-secure protocol.
So if someone wrote a program to intercept Airplay they could potentially make a copy of that encrypted DVD you are trying to Airplay, albeit with compression and other compromises.
