Can MI Client invoke printing function to the local printer?

Hi,
I'm newbie to the MI.
Is it possible for MI client (a desktop) to print the data to the printer directly?
If yes, pls give steps to implement it briefly.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Julius,
For an introduction on peripheral support in MI, check Service Marketplace at http://service.sap.com/nw-mobile > Mobile Infrastructure > Mobile Infrastructure in Detail > Device Driver Framework. it also contains a list of supported peripheral models. For more development-oriented questions, check the corresponding RKT Learning Maps in the Online Knowledge Products area on Service Marketplace. Then navigate to the Learning Map for Developers and look for the peripherals unit.
And, For devices that are not yet supported by MI, mobile application developers can make use of the standard java native interface (JNI) to integrate the peripheral devices required. Check MDK for details.
check this out:
com.sap.ip.me.api.pios.printer
which offers Printer support for the SAP Mobile Infrastructure is offered as part of the Peripheral Input/Output Services.

  • Digitally signed JWS client - invoking email program on the client

    Hi All,
    We have a digitally signed JWS application (non-sandboxed), I would like
    to programatically invoke the email client outlook etc, with attached log file ( of our app)
    basically an error handling mechanism such that any error on the client side can
    be sent to the dev team by simply clicking a button say "Send Log File" on the application
    Which should utimately opens end user's email client with attached log file, and users sends it to us from the email
    Appreciate any pointers/tutorials in this regard
    Many thanks,

    Many thanks for the reply, Our applications are targetted 1.5 and before appreciate if you could clarify the following
    appreciate if you could clarify
    - forms an output stream direct back to a report page on the server, and prepares to write the entire report to that stream - logs, screenshots, system settings, ..the time, + you might prompt the user for a 'reason?', whatever.. back to the reporting page. - after writing the stream to the server, the server returns an URL in the output. by the time user has encountered the error it means, the exception logs are already written, now is this you have this in the memory and on user action write to the servlet outputstream ? , bit confused here is it whether normal IO operation to read the physical log files and write to servlet output stream ? ( i believe is the case on a successful operation, the log file just writes to disk )
    In the back of my mind, I was thinking of the 'sandboxed' version I am developing, but strictly speaking, no.
    The way I am using logging is this.
    I create a custom handler that stores the last 500 (configurable) logged messages, then add that to an anonymous logger, which is used for all logging operations.
    The logs might be written out somewhere, but my app. no longer cares either way. If a problem occurs, they (without any further elevation of privileges) have easy access to the last 500 logged messages.
    Now, I'll break from what my sandboxed app. does here (too long, not relevant) and cut to..
    If that were the case in your app., it would take no further reading of files on the local disk, in order to submit the report back to the servlet. We could form the entire log as a String within the app., then stamp it out to a ByteArrayOutputStream, and take it from there.
    That does not make much sense for an all-permissions app. such as yours. It is more efficient to allow the logs to be written to disk as per normal, and only open (& submit) them if needed. Using a 'cycling' log name, you might also even offer the ability to submit the logs of earlier run(s). Remembering the logs of earlier runs is not a viable option for my sandboxed app.
    janaAb wrote: in .NET world these kind of things seems pretty slick, ..
    So (..shrugs) use .NET? Is this application only run on Windows? Does .NET support every platform you want to deploy on?
    If this app. is only targeted at/supported on platforms for which .NET does the job, perhaps it should be considered as an alternative. I do not think it is necessary though (and I doubt it would work on my Windows machine).

  • How can i add a new function to the Basic IVI class vi's?

    I need to use the IVI vi's to control some instruments, let's say a DC Power Supply.
    Since there's a DC Power supplyclass, i can used those VI's but waht if one of the VI's does not contains all the functions that i need?. How can i add more functions to the IVI classes?. What do i need to do to add a new function to the iviFGen class?

    If you would like to try developing your own instrument driver (or modify the existing one), we have documentation, model instrument drivers, and driver templates to help at :

    We also have a syndicate of third party vendors that specialize in National Instruments' products and services. Some of the vendors specialize in driver development. I would suggest contacting one of the Alliance members at:

  • Motorola Droid X2 - can I assign a specific function to the magnifier button?

    I would like to assign the magnifier button (rightmost of the 4 physical buttons) to bring up my universal inbox to eliminate several clicks for a function I use 100 times a day. I do not currently use the magnifier button at all.
    THanks.

    A long press of the search button can bring up other options as well, but the app has to specifically enable that API for it to work.  In other words, it's not likely that it will work for that app specifically.

  • Can you add decent "Search" functionality to the Mozilla Support website?!

    One of my biggest frustrations with Firefox is trying to make use of the Mozilla Support website. Almost every search I enter in the Search box yields 1000+ results. String delimiters (") to define phrases and operators like AND and OR appear not to work at all, and results seem to include ANY article that contains ANY of the words in the search box. This is next-to-useless, and I usually exhaust my patience sifting through unrelated articles, exiting the support site again with just a little less respect for Firefox/Mozilla.

    This is a well known issue.
    The search is even hardcoded into crash stats pages where it results in meaningless or misleading results.
    Regulars know to use an external search engine because of this shortcoming. There are numerous instances where a string is useful the name of software or a feature for instance, but if one of the words is commonly used results max out and bury the real hits.
    Compare for instance
    *'''''Ask Toolbar''''' (Problematic software)
    ** [https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=%22ask+toolbar%22site%3Asupport.mozilla.org&hl=en&btnG=Google+Search&sourceid=Mozilla-search&start=0#hl=en&q=%22ask+toolbar%22site:support.mozilla.org&start=290 Google] I only scrolled the first 30 pages, all would appear good hits.
    ** [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/search?q=ask+toolbar&esab=a&page=3 sumo] maxed out 1000 results maybe two proper hits per page in the first few pages
    I know I have often mentioned this. Including in the contributors forums [/forums/contributors/709812?last=55863#post-55708 (most recent)]. There are old & current bugs

  • Can't disconnect from other computer on the local network

    We have several Mac's (6) running in our small office, connected via wifi and ethernet.  One of the computers we call the "warehouse" and is used as our storage unit and to run 3 filemaker databases.  This warehouse is still running OS X 7, while the others are all running Mavericks.
    The Issue:
    When we click on "SHARED" or through "DEVICES" the warehouse shows up as connected via VNC.  If I click "Disconnect" nothing happens.  If I go the "GO" menu and use "CONNECT TO SERVER" and enter the static IP we have the warehouse setup with it connects fine.  Then if I go back to the "SHARED" it still says "Connected as:VNC" and if I hit disconect it will kill my connection but the view below still stays the same and the only choice it ever gives me is "DISCONNECT"!  I've rebooted the watrehouse and my Mac.
    Now, if I go to another computer (13" macbook air)...and click "SHARED" nothing shows up....The only way I can connect is using the "go" menu and the IP.
    This has only been since upgrading to Mavericks.

    Hi
    I am having same issue.
    Try to forece quit the Finder process using Activity Monitor.

  • Windows 7 64bit can't access Windows 7 32bit within the local network

    Hello,
    We have one 64bit PC and ten 32bit PCs in our local office network.
    Recently the 64bit PC is unable to access some of the other 32bit PCs in random basis. When it happens, all the other PCs are unable to access the 64 bit PC.However, the 64bit PC can still access the internet without problem.
    Everything will be back to normal after rebooting the 64bit PC.
    Is there any solution about this problem?

    Hi,
    First, this is not related to  a 32 bit machine or a 64 bit machine, also I want to know how can you access the other computers, visit a shared folder or remote desktop connection? This is related a network issue.Check whether the network discovery
    is turned off, to turn on network discovery:
    1. Open Advanced sharing settings by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type network, click Network and Sharing Center, and then, in the left pane, click Change advanced sharing settings.
    2.Click the chevron Picture of the chevron icon to expand the current network profile.
    3.If network discovery is off, under Network discovery, click Turn on network discovery, and then click Save changes.
    Details about shared folder visit can be seen:

  • New to FIOS TV Multi-room DVR - Should I be able to use DVR functions from the other HD STBs?

    We just converted from Directv (three DVRs) to FIOS TV and am hoping I didn't make a huge mistake: The sales agent I spoke to said that the Multi-room DVR (Motorola QIP-7216-1) and non-DVR STB would enable me to get the same features I had with my Directv setup so each user could Stop/Start/Record programming from their own remote. Unless I'm doing something wrong, I can only perform DVR control functions from the real DVR. I can view recorded programming on the non-DVR STBs but pressing record for a live broadcast or trying to select a show to record from the guide doesn't work.
    I have the ActiontecGen2 MOCA connected MI424WR router, three HD STBs (Motorola 7000), one standard definition STB and the DVR.

    As you've found, you can only create recordings from the DVR.  If you want each room to have the ability to schedule recordings, then you need a separate DVR in each room.
    The FiOS Motorola DVRs cannot access recordings stored on other DVRs.

    I have an attribute defined in an element. I want execute a PLSQL function from the attribute, and display the returne value with an HTML template.
    I've defined the attribute's type like PLSQL, and I've put the called of the function in the value of the attribute, but it doesn't work. The only value I obtain is an URL (I think that is the URL of the function or someting like this).
    How can I call to my function from the attribute and display the returnes value in the page?
    Thanks.

    Thanks, but it doesn't work. I have an attribute called ID_BOL and I want to associate a sequence to that attribute. I've created a function, with the sequence. This function return de value of the sequence. I want taht the attribute takes the value of the sequenece dinamically.
    I've tried it, creating the type attribute like PLSQL, and calling the function from the attribute, but it doesn't work.

  • Any way to temporarily remove the clip from the ipod shuffle?  I would like to see if it can be placed in speakers designed for the Nano.

    is there any way to temporarily remove the clip from the ipod shuffle?  I would like to try to connect it to speakers which are designed for ipod nano, but appear to be compatible with the shuffle, if it didn't have the clip.

    Unfortunately, Apple can do no such thing.  The most you can do is turn it over to the local authorities or the customer service desk if you found in a store or similar.
    Kudos to trying to find the owner though!

  • My computer looks alone on the local network

    Hello,
    Since a few days, I can't see any computer in the "Shared" section of the Finder's side bar.
    Digging into that problem, I noticed I can no more connect to any of the local network computers using their name (i.e.: afp://mycomputer.local) but can well using the IP address (i.e.: afp://192.18.1.10).
    Access to outside world causes no problem.
    Any idea on how to solve this is welcome !

    Lionel

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
    There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
    ☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
    ☞ Paste into the window of another application.
    ☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
    ☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
    The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
    Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
    exec bash
    and press return. Then paste the script again.
    9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
    If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
    to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
    11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
    At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with "Model Identifier." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
    If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    Note: This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • Accessing the local interface of an EJB

    Hello.
    I am using Jdeveloper 11G and it's integrated application server. Using the Jdeveloper wizards, i created a simple stateless session EJB which has both a local and a remote interface (code listed below). I then used the "Create test client" option to create a simple test client.
    The way these classes and interfaces are set up by the wizards, i am using the remote interface. However, i would like to lookup the local interface and use that instead. But i just can't figure out how to lookup the local interface of the EJB. I have tried pretty much every variation i can think of but still no success. Is there anyone out there who can give me a hand? Is there a way to see the lookup name in the integrated WLS server?
    My remote interface looks like this:
    @Remote
    public interface SessionEJB {
    and the remote one:
    @Local
    public interface SessionEJBLocal {
    And my EJB class:
    @Stateless(name = "SessionEJB", mappedName = "NewTestApplication-SessionEJB")
    public class SessionEJBBean implements SessionEJBLocal, SessionEJB {
    My test client does this lookup that works fine:
    public class SessionEJBClient1 {
    public static void main(String [] args) {
    try {
    final Context context = getInitialContext();
    SessionEJB sessionEJB = (SessionEJB)context.lookup("NewTestApplication-SessionEJB#model.SessionEJB");
    }

    Hi,
    Your lookup in your client would look something like
    SessionEJBLocal sessionEJB = (SessionEJBLocal)context.lookup("NewTestApplication-SessionEJB#SessionEJBLocal ");
    The part before the # in the lookup is your mapped name from your session facade, and after the # you have your package, like com.oracle. and ending it with your local interface name.
    Just remember that if your client is not actually running inside the application server container (which with the generated test client it wouldn't be, its a java standalone app with a main method), you will not be able to use the local interface, and you would have to look up remote interface. This can be done in exactly the same way as the above line of code, just replacing the local interface parts with the remote interface's. Hope this helps.

  • How can I create a button that performs the function of a keyboard shortcut, specifically print scrn

    I need my presentation users to take a screen shot of a slide within my presentation.  I know that windows 8 has a new function that allows a screen shot to be taken and saved directly to the user's computer and I need a button that can be placed on a slide and perform this function.  The shortcut is (windows key) + (print scrn).  I want to save my userss some time and just have a button perform this task.  Any idea on how I can make this possible? I am using Captivate 7.

    I think Ajit may have misunderstood your need.  The command he told you about triggers the Print command to allow you to print the currently active slide (on a laser or inkjet printer). This does not have the same result as you would get by hitting the PrintScreen button on your keyboard (to take a screencapture and have it saved to the Clipboard for pasting somewhere else).
    You can add a button to your slide and set the PrintScreen key as the shortcut, but this will NOT mean that clicking the button will cause a screencapture to be taken.
    There are JavaScript libraries that will allow you to execute JavaScript code in a Captivate project that can take a screen capture:
    https://github.com/ariya/phantomjs/wiki/Screen-Capture
    However, to implement these solutions you would need to be quite knowledgeable with setting up JavaScript.  It's not for newbies.
