Can I upgrade my iMac to OS 10.6.x based on the information below which is my build?

I want to run the latest Xcode 4.0.2 and the latest Apple iOS SDK 4 but it's not compatible with my 10.5.8 OS.

I can't set up iCloud drive on my iMac after upgrading to Yosemite - iPhone and iPad are updated but both say my iMac isn't (even though it is running Yosemite).
My iMac is OS X Yosemite 10.10 (14A389), memory is 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 and storage capacity is 273.64 free of 999.35 GB.
When i go to System Preferences and click on iCloud. The iCloud Drive section is greyed out and says setting up and a spinning pin wheel. It stays like this the whole time. I have tried restarting the computer. i amanita sure what else to do to make it work. Any suggestion would be great.

I found another way to correct this...
1) Select Message, then go to Preferences,
2) a window will appear with 3 options, General, Accounts, Audio Video, don't be surprised when you see a video of yourself, your camera just turned on.
3) Select Accounts (you may have several here)
4) Select the account that has "iMessage" under the account name. This may likely be your Apple ID ****@me.com
5) Look at what is checked under the "You can be reached for messages at:"
6) Select the one account (or more if you like) and deselect the others
7) Close the window and the problem goes away.
I'm not longer getting my sons iMessages.

Hi can you help, Can my iMac OS X 10.6.7 that uses a wired mouse be upgraded to Lion OX if so how could I zoom the screen with my fingers as I dont have a magic mouse or magic pad? Also can my iMac work okay if I got rid of the mouse for the pad. As long as your iMac meets the system requirements, you can buy Lion - having a wired mouse has nothing to do with the operating system; it just will not allow you to use any gestures. But I can't see why you just couldn't use it as you always have. And, as long as your iMac supports bluetooth, I'm sure you can buy a trackpad if you like - then you'd be able to use gestures.

Why would that be irritating?? I suspect you are after Mavericks, in order to get Mavericks you have to have the Mac App Store app which did not become available until Snow Loepard 10.6.6. Once you have purchased and installed SL then install the 10.6.8 combo update, run Software Update again and install all suggested updates and finally you can get Mavericks.

Open the Mac App Store and try downloading Yosemite. If you get told it's incompatible, the computer's also incompatible with Mountain Lion and Mavericks; if desired, choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, check if the computer has at least a Xeon or Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU and 2GB of RAM, and if it does, click here and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
Back up your data and check your applications for compatibility before upgrading. In particular, Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC programs such as versions of Microsoft Office prior to 2008.

lr and pse are both cross-platform apps so you can use both pc and mac versions with those programs.

Can't use photo stream on my iMac without upgrading iCloud Library?

I can't get my Photo stream to show up on my iMac since upgrading to Photos.
It seems that I have to buy storage for all my photos (18,000+) to get Photos to stream.
Works on my iPhone and iPad.
When I go to OS X preferences >iCloud Photos is unchecked.
When I try to check it, I get this message.
I have Library unchecked, so I should get streaming without signing up for P

Hi,
Open the Messages app.
Go to the Preferences item in the app's Menu.
Select the account pane in the Preferences.
Each active account should have a tick in the Enable this Account box.
This can be unticked.
This will stop accounts logging in but will not stop the app Launching in certain circumstances.
First of all check the app is Quit before shutting down the computer.
The fact the app is open even if all windows are hidden can cause the app to restart when you Start up the computer.
Messages is a Multiple window app and using the red button on the top left of a window only closes that window and does not Quit the app.
Also check the System Preferences > Users and Groups > your account > Login Items tab.
This will list items that are set to Start up when the computer does.
I have a couple of External Drive on other computers, some Anti Virus software and the common iTunes Helper plus an old version of TextExpander that will work if I launch the Preference Pane this way.

I have a current iMac with standard built in wireless capability but I'm on the net with wires (RJ45 twisted pair ethernet CAT5 cables). Can my iMac serve as a wireless access point for a new device in the house (Nintendo Wii)? I know that it's best to have dedicated hardware do this, but I'm looking for a software solution to use while I decide what to buy.
Currently I have a DSL connection and a star style home network. The DSL modem has an ethernet cable to a hub, and our 2 macs connect with wires to the hub. (I have an older DSL modem that has no wireless capability, I know that upgrading the DSL connection involves a new modem that includes wireless, but the phone company makes no guarantees about supporting Macs, so I have to do some research first.)

If your iMac connects to internet from ethernet cable, you can use airport to share the connection wirelessly by creating a network from airport, then go to system preference > sharing > internet and enable internet sharing. But if you already have a wireless router, Mac should be compatible, there is nothing inherently different between iMac's airport and PC's wireless card.

The upgrade is usually not a good deal, financially. If you look around you can almost always find the full version of PSE for less than/the same price as the upgrade version. Watch amazon and the big box stores, which often sell it as a loss leader. The boxed version of PSE 10 includes both mac and windows versions.
