Can my iphone 4s join the cloud while my iMac is still on 10.6.8
I do not want to lose my .mac address on my iMac and was told that I can keep it if I move to the cloud. Not ready to do that yet. Could I join the cloud with my iPhone 4s and keep the same .mac address while my iMac is still on the Snow leopard?

Yes, there is no reason you can't migrate to iCloud and use it with your phone.
You won't be able to sync iCloud contacts and calendars etc with Address Book and iCal etc on your mac, but you can access them through the web at iCloud.com
You can use iCloud Mail with Snow Leopard if you set it up manually:
Delete your mail account from Mail preferences and set it up again using the Mail Server Information.
Some users have apparently encountered issues using this information in pre-Lion set ups (I haven't), Roger Wilmut has kindly provided instructions for those who find themselves with this problem.

I have an iphone 3G which has been disabled after a child tried to get into it. Itunes will not connect until I have put the passcode in but the device will only enable emergency calls and does not allow a passcode to be put in. I have put it into recovery mode and itunes can't see it. There is currently no SIM card in it and it's not connectng to the wifi so I can't wipe it from the cloud. Any ideas how I can get into it?
iPhones require a SIM for activation.
Put the device in DFU mode (google it) and restore via iTunes. -
I have some old cd's I have burned onto itunes. Howcan I copy them to my iphone without using the cloud? I donot want to mess with my cloud settings because I am a technophobe. Please be gentle
Willy, the procdedure you describe works perfectly for AppleTV G1. In fact, I frequently play DTS music discs ripped to my iTunes library as Apple Lossless (ALAC) and synched to the ATV. What happens is that, as far as iTunes and the ATV are concerned, a conventional stereo 16/44 audio file is being played; however my reciever detects the DTS data stream, and instead of outputting static, it decodes the 5.1 channels correctly. This process parallels the way DTS discs were designed to be played back: a conventional CD player is connceted, via digital out, to a DTS-aware reciever/pre-amp and the two channels of static are recognized as 6 channels of DTS-encoded audio.
However this process will only work if the player (CD, ATV, PC, etc.) sends a "bit-perfect" 16 bit/44.1 khz data stream to the decoding device. In the case of ATV G2 and G3, as has been discussed elsewhere, the unit resmaples all audio - including 16/44 PCM (Redbook CD) - to 16/48. While this is not a big deal for conventional audio CDs, MP3s, and AAC files, it mangles the fragile DTS datastream and renders it undecodable. The resulting static that you hear is just like the static you would hear if you played a DTS CD on a non-DTS capable system.
Sadly, I'm not aware of any easy way around this. You could use a program like Foobar (and the DTS plugin) to convert your DTS CDs to 6-ch .wav or .flac file. From there you could transcode the file to AC-3 and then mux it into a video container that ATV supports. You may need add a dummy video track, for iTunes/AppleTV to be ok with the file, though I'm not sure. This may be a lot of work.
Sorry for the bad news. I wish that the iTunes/ATV ecosystem had better multi-channel audio support.

If my daughter is in grade 8, can I get student discount pricing if I want her to join the cloud?
My daughter is into graphic arts and design (manga/anime/etc) and I want to join the cloud and give her access to the tools. Obviously, I would have to pay (credit card, etc), but can I still get the student pricing even though she's in primary school and it would have to be under my name?

Alternately you can also purchase a prepaid Creative Cloud subscription card at a local reseller. This would give you the ability of giving a one time gift which will give her access for a fixed period of time. They also can be great when added to a nice greeting card. -
How do I download my contacts from my iPhone 4 to the cloud. I have several contacts that I entered on my phone...they are not in yahoo. I do not want to loose them when I upgrade to a 5
To transfer your data and settings to a new device see http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2109. You can also use an app like My Contacts Backup to back up the contacts on your phone as attachment to an email that you send to yourself. If you need to, you can later open this email on your new phone and tap the attachment to import your contacts.

Only a small portion of my photos in Photo Stream on my iPhone go to the cloud then to my iPad. I only have 150 pictuures so it can be a capacity issue?? Any advice ?
OK, so it's working the way it is supposed to. With any device that is retrieving photo stream photos from the cloud, it will only retrieve back to the time that photo stream was turned on for that device.
Now that you have it turned on, any photos you take will show up in photo stream for either device from now on.

No, when resetting an iPhone it resets the actual data contained within the phone, nothing on your iCloud will be affected. It is a good idea to use seperate iClouda and iTunes accounts then you can each create your own backups regularly without your daughters backup overwriting yours or vice versa.

You don't send it back to the cloud since it never left the cloud.
You can delete indovidual songs from the iPod, or if all music is available in your iTunes library on your computer, you can remove the music from your iPhone via the iTunes sync process. -

The only way you can use iCloud to free up space on your device is by subscribing to iTunes Match. If you do, your music library would be available through iCloud without having to store all of it on your phone. (See http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/.)
Music and other purchased media is also availble to redownload from the iTunes store (in many countries), however it's best to keep it in your iTunes library if you're going to delete it from your device because it may no longer be available to redownload if you rely on the iTunes store to "store" your purchased media. If you purchased the extra storage by mistake thinking you could use it for this purpose, you may be able to get a refund by calling the Apple online store (1-800-MYAPPLE in the U.S.). -

If you are backing up to iCloud, your camera roll photos are stored in your backup (but can only be accessed by restoring your device to the entire backup). If you enable photo stream in Settings>iCloud, photos taken after enabling it are stored in your photo stream (up to 1000 photos) for 30 days.

Buy another hard drive. They're cheap these days.
