Can my iPod touch break from a drop?

Ok so I accidently dropped my iPod at school the other day. The screen is still in perfect condition and did not break at all. However a week later after updating/restoring the iOS, the iPod keeps on freezing. I also see that there appears to be a CRC error in the diagnostic data of the iPod. Also after restoring the iPod won't even start correctly unless I set it up as a new iPod.
Is this because the iPod has been dropped?

if after fullly restoring the ipod has new and your are no longer geting the CRC message the restore may have fixed the problem, it's up to u if u think you should book it in for a check up and repair with the genius bar

Probably dead if you have tried to charge it.
You should never try to charge or turn on a wet electronic device.
You should let it dry for a week or so, then try.

You should probably disable the autosync functionality first by going to Edit -> Preferences, clicking the Devices tab, and enabilng the prevent iPods,iPhones, and iPads from automatically syncing option.
Next, authorize the new computer with your iTunes Account. In iTunes, choose Store -> Authorize This Computer and enter in the correct credentials.
If possible, either copy a backup file from your old computer to your new one or create a new backup of your iPod in iTunes before letting it sync. To do this, right->click on your iPod Touch from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes and choose Backup. You might also want to take a look at this article to see what it all included in the backup.

Now onto synced content such as music, videos, photos, etc. For iTunes purchases you can copy them back into iTunes by choosing File -> Transfer Purchases. - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

The warranty for an iPod is international (that is not the case for an iPhone). Thus, you can have ti serviced/exchanged in India.

Not unless it was found to be defective, and that would not reset the warranty on the original serial number.

Sometimes it's just wrong. Perhaps the reseller entered in the sales date incorrectly. Call Apple support and discuss the problem with them. They may ask you to fax them a copy of your receipt.

You'll probably have difficulty convincing them that the scratch wasn't there when you brought it in, but you can go back to the store and talk to them about it.
