Can my Macbook handle photoshop cs2/cs3

Hello everyone.
When i do some editing when zoomed in on photos in iphoto the computer slows down, i dont no why.
So now i think can my macbook (2GHZ intel core 2 duo and 1GB of ram) handle adobe photoshop cs2 or cs3. Do i need to buy more ram.
Please help me, i have to use cs2 at college all the time and need to buy it for my mac, but will it work smoothly.

On which operating system are you trying to install these Adobe apps?
Please specify the operating system name and version.
If you have purchased new Macbook Pro, then you should have atleast Mac OSX 10.9 or later. However, i doubt you will be able to install most of these apps on it as they are pretty old apps except CS5 & Lr4.
Still you can give it a shot and check.
What happens when you try to install them?
Do you get any error message? An error screenshot or full text of the error, should be helpful.

I can't find a number that works to speak to a live person at Adobe. I need to reduce the pixel size TODAY on some photos and need the program. Is there another way to reduce pixels if I can't get my Photoshop running today?

I think you are missing my point.
For the last many editions of the creative suite they have each been completely independent. There is no "going over a previous version. Each version stands on its own and is a clean install — as long as you haven't installed that specific version before.
And "obsolete" is a pretty relative term. With products as complex as the creative suite there are often features (or even whole applications) that change between versions. Many people I know keep earlier versions around, just for that very reason.

Photoshop CS2 & CS3 + OS 10.6

Hi, I'm thinking about updating to 10.6. One issue is older software, since I cannot afford to upgrade any of that. Can someone tell me if Photoshop CS2 works on snow leopard? What about CS3? Thanks!

After the upgrade...CS3 appeared to work fine, but I had some issues (eventually resolved) when I added an new Epson printer (3880). I updated everything related to OS, printer, CS3 (much frustration). Now PS works a little differently for printing. After the "print" button is clicked in the print window, THEN another print setting window pops up for color management, etc. The final print button is in that second window. Very confusing, but it seems to work now.

12" PowerBook or MacBook for Photoshop CS2?

I am in the market for a portable computer as I'll be traveling. I am mainly just an avid amateur photographer and enjoy making video presentations to share with family.
My desktop is an iMac G5 which I am very satisfied with.
I had a 15" PowerBook which I gave away to my daughter.
Now I miss it and want a notebook to carry with me so I can edit and play on long airplane rides.
So, I have read that Photoshop CS2 doesn't play well with Intel Chips.
If I have no desire to upgrade any software as I am so happy with using what I have today, doesn't it stand to reason that I just get another portable Power PC that will play well with my current software?
Now the ? is should I get a 12" PowerBook or an iBook? The specs are so similar in the refurb department. I want to snag one quick before they're gone.
I need input from more knowledgeable users before I order.

I would get the MacBook. At this point I wouldn't buy anything PowerPC. You'll probably regret it. Eventually you may want to upgrade and Photoshop as a UB will blow away the PowerPC performance. If you get enough RAM, say 2 GB, Rosetta will be just fine.

The conditions from Adobe are that you must have either purchased the license perviously or have bought Reader 7 beforehand. I know certainly that I have not bought Photoshop CS2 before, so I don't know if I can still purchase it.

Yeah, that's what I am worried about. I guess I will just pass. As for the prices, they are still too high. I just needed the software for school projects and charity work - yet price is still a roadblock.
I think they should legalize it for nonlicensed members. I could certainly benefit from this and thereby indirectly benefit others.

What is "various vendors"? I'd be extremely careful with that. Unless you can be 100% sure this is an authorized reseller selling of his remaining CS5 packages, this may be fraud. Counterfeited packages that were replicated so perfectly they looked like the real deal have been around for a while...

As gener7 has pointed out there is no "free Photoshop CS2", it has been made available for people who hold legitimate licenses for versions affected by the activation server having been taken offline and a lot of people seem to have misunderstood that.
While it may be tempting to ignore the distinction it may be worth considering that Photoshop is still the product of other persons’ efforts (no matter how the profits are being distributed between the corporation Adobe and the individual developers etc.) – supposing you do produce images yourself (as a photographer, designer, illustrator, …) how would you feel about people assuming because you publish them online they are theirs to use for free?
Maybe you should consider using the free image editing application Gimp if your economical circumstances should not allow for purchasing a Photoshop license currently.

I am running a MacBook 13-inch, Aluminum, Late 2008 with the following:
Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 6 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB
Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)
I recently purchased a new Sony HD camcorder that can shoot 1080p video. The first uploads I've done to my MB seem to have slow playback and seem rather pixelated. If I watch the video on the camcorder itself, it is fantastic. I'm wondering if perhaps my MB is old enough that it can't handle the 1080p HD video and if I should use this to justify a new purchase. Am I at the bare minimum requirements for the 1080p.
I also use FCP and would like to make some nice video compilations, but if the videos will not playback appropriately that is a concern for me as well.

I have the same problem as the original poster...it's rather annoying. It happens in Firefox 5.0.1, the latest version of Google Chrome, AND Safari.
At 360p and 240p, the video runs just fine but as soon as I bump it up to 480p, 720p, or 1080p, it becomes really choppy and the video stutters. The audio remains fine however.
For example, the music video for the Pet Shop Boy's "West End Girls" song has this effect.

However some other videos do not have this jitter effect and run perfectly fine such as the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 Trailer" or even the Pet Shop Boy's music video for "Love etc."

My 4GB RAM late 2008 unibody aluminum Macbook (5,1) is up to date with the latest version of Flash Player installed.
