On Apple's website i typed in "can my new iPod touch be traded in?" and it didnt come up with any answer. I'm saving up for a new laptop. I just wanna know how much my iPod is worth at Apple

If you purchased the iPod from an Apple Store within the last 14 calendar days, you can return it for a full refund presuming that it's undamaged. Otherwise, Apple does not take trade-ins on iPods. All they'll give you is a recycling credit of 10% off the price of a new iPod, and obviously you could sell your iPod yourself for a lot more than that.

Unable to activate new ipod touch 16gb 4th gen

Hi I just got a new ipod touch 16gb 4th generation & how turned it on to charge & set up etc. I've connected it to my home wifi modem but from thereon it is unable to activate. I have no idea of what software it's running.

I've since been able to activate it to a degree - had to connect to a computer & download iTunes. It still won't let me sign in even though I've set up & verified an apple login. Very frustrating!!

New iPod Touch 16GB won't start

My new iPod Touch won't power on unless I plug it in via the iPod AC power adapter, and then I only get the "cord -> cd/iTunes" image. The second I pull the plug, the screen goes "black" - meaning it shuts off, but I can still see the outline of the previously mentioned image.
I've tried all the recommended solutions I could find. Power + Home button sequence, four different cords (I have a few older edition iPods) + the cord for my own iPod Touch (also new - bought together with my girlfriend - mine works, by the way...)
I would love to reset it via iTunes, but since I can't get it to work without it being plugged in via the AC adapter, that's out of the question. Also tried several USB slots on my computer (those directly tied to the laptop).
Any help or assistance would be nice.. preferably a solution faster than lightning.

I've had it on a genuine Apple iPod AC charger for 15-16 hours now, and the instant I unplug it, the screen goes semi-black. Meaning I can still see the outline of the iTunes-connect screen, as it fades away after a few seconds.
No response when connecting to a computer however. I've gotten one explanation saying that it could be that the Touch is completely drained and that that's why it couldn't get a charge via computer. However, I think I've blown that myth into pieces, no?
So is it broken? ...from factory? Sweet.

How can a new iPod touch use the same account as an old one?

I use one Mac and sync multiple iPods and iPhones to it and use just one iTunes account.
Recently, my daughter killed her iPod touch. (Sad, I know.) Now she's getting a new one for Christmas.
How will I sync the new iPod touch to pick up the songs, videos, apps, etc. that were used on the old iPod touch?

I bought my nephew a new ipod touch 16gb to replace his 8gb. Can't seem to get all songs or apps to transfer from the old one to the new? Any suggestions

I tried using itunes on his computer and it transferred his pictures and 25 of his 34 songs. None of the apps transferred so when we got to where we had wi-fi I enabled ICloud on both ipods. The new ipod shows where the original was backed up but it didn't add anything to the new ipod. Don't know what I'm doing wrong.

If he still has his or your itunes user and password on his iTunes app, iTunes should let you redownload it again FREE OF CHARGE. Any paid apps you already paid for, will reinstall for FREE.

Delete an app from a new ipod touch 16gb 4th gen??

i bought my daughter an apple ipod touch 4th gen for christmas...one of my old apps titled "stocks' is on her new ipod and i cant get it off. I tried both methods i know of and nothing. I am so frustrated i am going to return it shortly and buy her something like a kindle fire instead... I even did a factory reset an this app shows up everytime...

The only way to get an apple ID is to have an email account you've never used before. The only thing you can do is make her an email.

I have an Apple ID and it works but I cannot use iMessage or Facetime. I enter my apple id and password and it hangs up at the verify stage. I have received the email which apple sends and it states that my apple id is verified. Any help with this?

I had this same problem. I tried turning iPhone on & off, exiting Settings, etc. Nothing worked. I realized that the E-mail address associated with my Apple ID was not connected to the iPhone via POP or IMAP. I believe that if you want to use the iMessage feature, you have to have a live connection between that E-mail server and your iPhone. After I set up the POP link to send/receive E-mails from that account, iMessage worked. Also, during my attempts to get iMessage to work, I updated my phone to the latest iOS, and when the phone rebooted, my cell number was listed and checked in the iMessage setup, where it was not visible anytime beofre that upgrade. Hope this will help someone.

New iPod touch - How to make it a Palm Pilot

OK. My new iPod Touch (16GB) is on order (ordered on day 1) - I have my Mobile Me account up and running and my iCal and my Mail accounts are synced.
My reason for buying the new iPod touch is to replace my Palm Pilot (Tungsten E). I was able to export/import 6 years worth of Palm data to iCal – now I need to be able to use iCal on the iPod touch to see/edit my daily schedules on the road – and to sync and see them on several Macs at home and in the studio.
I just watched the new Apple video about the new iPod touch – and, frankly, it came across as a 1) a teen-age game machine, 2) a movie player, and 3) a music box. Nothing in the video promo spoke to iCal on a Touch – or using the iPod touch as a business tool – other than Safari and email.
There are a million new apps available, but I don’t have time to test them all. This is what I need:
1) A iPod Touch version of Docs To Go. I want to make a document (file- text –letter) on my Mac (in Word, for example) – and then download it to the touch to read (and edit) on the road – and then re-sync changes made on the Touch with Mobile Me and my Macs.
2) To Do lists that sync between Mobile Me – my Macs and the Touch – with the ability to make/edit the To Do from the Mac or the Touch.
3) Search capability to find events, To-Dos, and documents (such as a letter) in the iPod Touch. That is a great feature of the Palm Pilot – I can see when I was last in a city with a simple search – or find a calendar entry with a customer’s name – even from several years ago.
And:
4) a Forum that addresses how to use the iPod Touch as a business tool – rather than as a game/music/video machine – essentially how to replace a BlackBerry or a Palm Pilot with and iPod Touch.
I have ZERO AT&T coverage where I live and work – so the iPhone is a no go for me. I will keep my Verizon cell phone and get rid of the Palm Pilot – if I can make the Touch behave as a tool rather than as a toy.
So – What APPS should I get ready to use?

I have done the transition from a Palm Treo to the iPod Touch. As has been said the Apps are not as mature as with the Palm. You do need to be creative. I went with OmniFocus, both the ipod app and the desktop app. The desktop app will sync with iCal but I feel it should be the master. Not the cheapest route but very solid.
Direct MS Word compatibility I haven't seen yet. It will be there I am sure. The Notes app works fine for writing and you can email notes to yourself and copy the text out to what ever program you choose. No cut Copy Paste yet either so real word processing is not a reality. Docs to Go was pretty good.
There is CSV touch that will load any CSV file. Excel sheets. Also the idb Datamaster pro. Worth looking at. It is a database system that can import and export again in csv.
I have PocketMoney to record financials. It will sync through QIF files with Quicken. I say sync but it really just imports and exports QIF files. Takes some creative handleing not to end up with duplictae transactions. I figured out a work around and it saves keeping the paper around till I get to my computer.
File Magnet is really great. Drag anything to it and it will be loaded for viewing ( only) on the Touch.
The sync with iCal, Email and Contacts is excellent. I use this system daily for all my appointments and work schedules.
I don't bother with the games but it is cool to listen to music in the car with one device.
Having real internet in your hand instead of the klunky Treo browser is so much better. Safari is functional enough to do my online banking.
iFlix is really functional for Netflix. My Weather for weather forcast. Gives local animated radar.
So.. It is a new platform. It will have growing pains but it is functional and innovative.
Browse the App Store. Most are cheap enough that you can try without costing too much. The reviews are mostly helpful if you weed through the jokers.
I carry mine all the time. It finds internet all over without me doing anything. Battery life is acceptable for the most part. Just listening to music it lasts plenty long. Wifi and constant browsing or apps will run it down quicker. Consider that like watching a video. I use it in my car with a TransPod FM adapter. It charges the battery while it is playing. Works out fine that way. I get a full day of use and then the night always on without any worries. The ride to work charges it up enough.

Brand new ipod touch doesn't include 3.0 ???

I just bought a brand new ipod touch 16GB. As soon as I got it hooked up it said it needed as $9.95 software update. Why don't new ipod's come with the most up-to-date software or at least offer it for free?

1G touches came with 1.x.x software installed even after 2.x.x was released so it's no surprise that the 2G touches being sold now still have 2.x.x software installed.
If and when Apple releases a '3G' touch, I'm sure it will have 3.x.x installed.
As to WHY? Nobody here has any connection with Apple and we can only report what we have observed in the past.

New Ipod Touch will not play in BMW

I have a new Ipod touch that I bought from Apple. My 2010 BMW 128c will not recognized this Ipod touch or my wifes Ipod touch. It will recognize the one I bought my son at Best Buy. It also would not work with my previous BMW X5. I am using the adapter cable that came with the BMW. I work for BMW and they don't have any ideas. Is there a setting on Ipod touch that I need to turn on.

The problem may very well be the OS version you're using (3.0 or later). There were many reports of problems when Apple introduced 3.0 and it has been a problem ever since. In my case, when I changed from 2.2.1 to 3.0 my '09 Honda Fit lost the ability to select Artists, Playlists, etc. (but at least it plays). I was able to step back to 2.2.1 for awhile and it functioned correctly, but I decided to go back to 3.x once I realized that Apple wasn't going to fix this, and I wanted some of the 3.x features. I recall seeing that BMW, Mercedes, and a few other accessories were affected.
If your son's Touch works OK in your BMW, what OS version does he have? Chances are that it is version 1 or 2. You can blame Apple, but it may also be accessory manufacturers not following Apple's standards -- we'll never know, but one thing for sure is that this issue does not have Apple's attention since the problem remains after multiple OS releases since 3.0.

Regarding sound, it's simply a matter personal preference. My suggestion is to go to the nearest Apple Store and try out a couple. Each of the products at the store have passed an extensive vetting process. The Specialists are willing to work with you and may even open a box or two. Don't be unreasonable and expect to spend a half-day opening all the different models. In other words, don't abuse their willingness to provide stellar customer service.
Better yet, direct your eyballs to the store shelf or the Apple website. That's really all you need to know.

New iPod Touch and ios6

Quick one for you... I just pre-ordered an iPod Touch that will obviously be shipping with ios6...... I need confirmation that ios6 will have no problem working with my computer - which is leopard 10.5.8. I only have two macs and both of them are running leopard. I refuse to update to snow leopard, lion or anything newer, I do not care about the app store or the cloud, I just need to know that i can use my iPod Touch!
I know how Apple like to discontinue old products by forcing people to upgrade.

I'm afraid your going to have problems. You are going to need the latest version of iTunes. Current iTunes requires OS X version 10.6.8 or later.

How does one plug in the cable to the new Ipod Touch?????

Ok... I give up. The USB cable that comes with my new IPod Touch will not plug into it. Yes... it is turned in the correct position.... If I use the cable that came with my 160GB IPod Classic that has the pressed in side... that will plug into the Touch. What gives???

I don't know what's going on for you, my friend. The one I got works just fine. Maybe it was a lemon cord. Try taking it to a local apple or Mac store and see if they will replace it for you.
