Can my project be burned onto dvd at all?

Hi. I just finished editing a 20 minute video in Adobe Premiere CS5 and would now like to burn this onto dvd using dynamic link. I have tried already but its taking forever to build.
I simply sent my timeline to encore from premiere. Is that what I should be doing?
My project settings for video are: 1920x1080, 25fps, upper, quality 50, and for Audio are: 4800Hz, stereo, 16bit.
My hardware is a pioneer dvd-rw DVRTD11RS. Is this going to be able to burn this disc at all or do I need something else?
Estimated time to encode my project in Media Encoder is 5hrs 33minutes. Is this normal? I know its a very high resolution I am working with, but I would like to maintain the quality. Its important that I do actually.

You may NOT maintain HD quality to go to a DVD... the DVD specification is for SD (Standard Definition) so part of the reason the process is taking so long is that your video is being transcoded from HD down to SD... usually being called down-rezzing (down resolution)
If you want to maintain HD quality, you need a BluRay burner and a BluRay player at your TV
There is a way you may put a SHORT HD video on a DVD, but you would still need a BluRay player at your TV to view the video

  • Can I retrieve photos burned onto DVD (I used iDVD)?

I lost my hard drive last week and am in the process of rebuilding my photo gallery. In Decemeber, I burned a DVD with all of my desired photos from 2012 using iDVD. In addition to the videos and slideshows that I included in the main menu, I made sure to burn the actual photos to the DVD as well. Except now, I don't know how to retrieve the photos from the DVD to re-import into iPhoto. Any suggestions?

  • Burning onto DVD+RW or -RW

Hi Everyone, this has probably been addressed already but I'm having trouble finding the answer I need.
I don't seem to be able to burn onto dvd+rw or -rw's and mac help says that OSX 10.3.9 won't do it, should I upgrade to Tiger or is Toast 7 the only options?
Cheers for any help you can give!

Toast 6 or 7 Titanium will definitely burn the DVDs to which you refer, assuming, of course, that you have a DVD burner that will.
    Good luck.

  • Poor quality (vibration) on video clips when it burns onto DVD

We created 15 mins video on Final Cut Express, saved on Quick Time, and burned onto DVD. Although the video on Quick Time was fine, some of the quality of the video clips on DVD we burned was so poor....It had so much vibration on some of the video clips. We tried on both Best Performance & Best Quality, but they both had poor quality. Do you have any suggestions? Do you think upgrading to I Life 08 will help? Please Help!!!! Thanks!

It had so much vibration on some of the video clips.
Video on a DVD is mpg-2 compressed (which looks at frame to frame differences in compression) and is interlaced.
If you have content with lots of movement - like many hand-held shots - mpg-2 compression and interlacing will act to create lots of 'jumping' or 'vibration'. The only solution is to use a tripod and avoid shaky, hand-held shots.
BTW, for a short clip, 'Best Performance' will give you the best quality you can get.

  • I'm finished with project and burned to DVD.... Can I delete?

What is everyone's opinion on what to do with the their projects once they are completely finished burning all of their projects to DVD? I really like keeping my HD nice and neat and don't want a bunch of video taking up space. I have burned the DVD to watch and made a backup DVD of the important video's. I will keep the backup DVD in a safe place. Do you think I would be ok to delete all of my projects and clips that I have created?

I keep everything. This has let me do some really interesting things. I have videos going back to when my children were small. This January, I made a movie showing scenes from my daughter's 18th, 17th, 16th, 12th, 8th, 6th, 5,4,3,2,1, birthdays and the day she was born. This was simple in iMovie because the footage was all there and you can combine clips from multiple events in a single project.
This also gives you flexibility for the future. If BluRay or something beyond BluRay becomes popular, you can easily share you movies to the new format.
You can get an external 1 Terabyte drive ( or pick a size you like). It needs to be formatted as MAC OS Extended (journaled). (If it comes at FAT32, you can reformat it using DISK UTILITY)
I use Firewire 800, but if you have a recent MacBook, you may not have Firewire so USB will work fine.
Open iMovie and click VIEW/EVENTS BY DISK. You will see an icon for your disk in the Events list. Hold down the command key while dragging the event to the icon for the disk in the event list.
Projects work similarly. Command-drag the project to the external drive in the project list.
    Good luck.

  • What is the easiest way to burn imovies onto DVD's.   I want to burn more than one movie onto DVD as I create.    Can I continue to burn onto the same DVD as the movies are created?

  • Wont burn onto DVD!!!NEED HELP

i just spent 20 hours making an imovie, and i finished it all up, but when i put the DVD-R in, it shoots it right back out. Also when I click to burn it says i dont have the supported superdrive. The computer is an IBOOKG4. I went online and checked and it says it has a superdrive(DVD-RW) so i dont see why its not working. Did i get the wrong types of disks (DVD-R) or does anyone else know what is wrong?

    Hi Matt,
Of course you can transfer your file to another computer and because yours is a portable it is so much easier. You need to use a proccess called 'Target Disc Mode'. All you do is, get the two computers together and connect them via a double ended firewire cable. Start your computer while holding down the 'T' key and the Firewire logo will appear on the screen of your iBook. Your iBook's HD will appear on the screen of the other computer. Just open the HD icon of your computer and drag the file out onto the desktop of the second computer. Once the file has finished copying to the other computer just eject the HD icon of your computer and turn your iBook off by holding down the Power button for a few seconds.
This will only work on two Macintosh computers running OSX and it is best to export your project to Quicktime before you try to export it to another computer to avoid problems with different versions of iMovie.
Here's the link to the Mac document on how to do it -

  • Elements 9 Crashes when burning onto DVD

I've attempted to burn a project with a newly bought Premiere Elements 9 software.  It goes through rendering all three Disc Menus just fine. Then it crashes my entire computer(multiple times) when getting to approx 4-5% burning process.  This morning I've spent 4 hours uninstalling Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 and Premiere Elements 9, rebooting, then re-installing everything.  Same thing happened.
I use to run Photoshop 7, and don't recall this happening.
Please help.  My school project is due on Monday, which includes burning it onto a DVD for a grade!
    Thanks

  • Why would the quality of text become degraded when slideshow project is burned to DVD

I created 25 slideshows in Aperture, exported them as mov files, then imported them into iMovie to make one large slideshow with chapters. Then I exported this iMovie project to iDVD. After creating a theme I burned the project to a disk image. It was at this point that the comments on each photo that I had incorporated back in the Aperture phase, looked like severe jpg compression while the photos themselves did not appear degraded. Can anyone explain why that happened, and what I can do about it? I was using the latest version of Aperture, iMovie '08 and iLife '08 on an iMac running OS 10.6.7

There are a couple of issues.
First: The Aperture images used in iDVD are the Aperture PREVIEW images; you need to go into Apperture's preferences and increase the size of the preview images (Preference>Previews).  A better solution (in my opinion) is to actually export the image from Aperture at a reasonable size (for NTSC, something like 854x480; for PAL, 1024x576) to a folder on your desktop and use THOSE exported images..  Note that going to larger sizes won't give better quality - and may, in fact, slightly reduce the quality because of the Quicktime interpolation that will be required in iDVD.
Second:  DVDs are low resolution devices (like 640x480 pixels for NTSC) and can not maintain small type.  See http://homepage.mac.com/prof_pixel/text_test_iLife09.html for an experiment I did a couple of years ago for some type size examples.

  • Looping when burned onto DVD

I am not sure if this is a Final Cut or iDVD question -
But, I'd like to take my project, convert it, burn it to DVD and have the piece loop when it's over.
(this is going to be used for a trade show video that will be played over and over for hours)
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

This is an iDVD question for sure, but you'll finding looping in the advanced menu I think.

  • Idvd: once a project is burned to dvd disc the resolution is very poor.

I have created a project in idvd with several sub menues and images. Once I burn the project to dvd disc the resolution is very very poor. Besides the images being very pixelated, the menu screens are just as bad(pixelated), so it's not just an image quality issue. The funny thing is, when idvd is open (in the editing mode) and I play the project, everything is crystal clear. Then I burn the project, and play it in my computer to verify and the quality is terrible for both, my images and the menu and sup menues. I did import my (hi-res, average of 5mb) images into iphoto, then pulled them in to idvd from iphoto. I used a supplied template, but did change the positioning and font of the text on the menu and sub-menues. I have chosen the encoding to be 'best quality' rather than 'best performance' under the idvd preferences menu. There has to be something else I can do to get a great quality with this program.
    Thanks!

iDVD's Preview function can and will lie to you. Use apple's dvd player as a more accurate indicator of what the final image (or rather disc image) will look like.
Additinal recommendations: Use best performance for QT content 1 hr. or less and not best quality setting. This may help somewhat. Also make a disc image first from the file menu in iDVD6 and then lower the burn speed to 4x or lower in apple's disc utilities or roxio toast. Use only Verbatim or Maxell DVD-R for troubleshooting purposes only.
Lastly, when shooting on minidv camcorders make sure not to pan too quickly. Avoid sudden movements. Use a tripod whenever possible. Make sure your subject is in focus and well lit. Use new / quality minidv tapes only.

  • Splitting project to burn to DVD?

Greetings. I finished a project in Elements 3.0 and wound up at 10G+ of data. I'd like to burn to 2 DVDs to maximize image quality so can you tell me how to split the project in half?? I've snooped around in the Elements user guide but came up empty. Did I miss something?
Thanks very much for any direction.
    -M

I received an error message stating something to the effect of 'insufficient memory' despite the fact that I have ot set to 'fit to available space'.
This is most likely an error regarding your system resources, and not disc space.
What is the amount of free disc space that you have on your HDD's. That would be the first place to look. PrE (and any NLE), needs much more disc space, than the size of the files - much more.
Next, this ARTICLE might help you get the most from your computer, with PrE.
