Can my T43 handle a 24" widescreen WUXGA (1920x1200) monitor?

I'm planning on buying a nice Dell 24" widesreen monitor (model UltraSharp 2408WFP) to use with my T43p model 2687 with an ATI Mobility Radeon X300 graphics card and I'm wondering if my video card can handle the 1920x1200 resolution?
I have been reading up here on the Lenovo forums as well as on the TP forums and on ThinkWiki and got a little confused by conflicting opinions. It seems there are people having no problem running this setup via their DVI ports but I also read about the limitations of the Mini-Dock I'm using (T43 has no DVI port, only the dock has) on ThinkWiki:
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Problem_with_DVI_throughput
My Mini-dock is a FRU P/N 13R0291 or P/N 62P4551 and according to the specs on the Lenovo site at
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-45932
the DVI throughput is limited to SXGA resolution. What is the scoop on this issue and can it be fixed by updating the drivers or would I have to run it via the VGA port (which is not an option for me!).
Btw, the ATI Mobility Radeon X300 supports 1920x 1200! http://ati.amd.com/products/radeonx300/specs.html
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated before I put in the order next week ...

Hmmm...after reading the wiki article, I understand your concern...
Is there a place that you could possibly take your T43 and dock and test the LCD there?
X300 is a fine card, I'm typing on a machine that has it right now, but you'd likely be better off with a V3200 in this particular situation, however, that's not an option.
Having said that, if I had no way of testing it, I'd take my chances but make sure to get the LCD from a place that doesn't have outrageous re-stocking fees just in case...
Good luck and keep us posted.

George

  • Can I get handle to Database Row before an entity is deleted

    Hi,
    We are using stored procedure to list, insert , update and delete entity objects.To use the stored procedure I override the default queries generated by Toplink and make use of the stored procedure query.The issue here is that my Stored Procedure requires more arguments (like name of the user doing the insert) than there are fields in the entity.I need to provide these argument values to the call.For this I do something like
    session.getDescriptor(MyClass.class).getEventManager().addListener(new DescriptorEventAdapter(){
         public void aboutToInsert(DescriptorEvent evt) {
         evt.getRow().put("USER",evt.getSession().getProperty("username"));
    I set the username in the unitOfWork out of which I can grab the value in the eventHandler and put it inside the row just before insert.I do the same for modify too.But I dont see a similar methods for "delete".Do we have a aboutToDelete() method where I can get a handle to the row.The preDelete() does not provide a handle to the row.How can I insert additional arg values to the delete query?
    Thanks,
    Harini

    Hello Harini,
    Wow, you are correct there is no aboutToDelete, I guess manipulating the row before deletetion is not that common for our TopLink clients as this is the first request I have heard for it. I will add this request to our enhancement database. You might want to follow it up with support if it is a priority for you.
    As a workaround you could use the preDelete event to change the stored procedure call with the user name argument (i.e. build the procedure call dynamically in preDelete and set it into the query. The query will have been cloned at this point so there should be no concurrency issues. Make sure when doing this that you do not set the deleteQuery in the descriptor query manager as this will override the original query if set.
    Example:
    descriptor.getEventManager().addListener(new DescriptorEventAdapter() {
    public void preDelete(DescriptorEvent event) {
    StoredProcedureCall call = new StoredProcedureCall();
    call.setProcedureName("Delete_proc");
    call.addNamedArgument("P_ID", "ID");
    call.addNamedArgumentValue("USER", "scott");
    call.addNamedArgumentValue("TIME", new java.util.Date());
    event.getQuery().setCall(call);
    });

  • Quicktime-no sound & Broadcaster Error - Can't Open Handler (-2004)

    Greetings - I made the following post in the Tiger forum and after 3 days have received no response. Hopefully I'll have better luck here. Thanks in advance.
    10.4.7
    MacbookPro Intel Core Duo
    Suddenly some problems.
    My Fireworks 8 will no longer open. I get a Macromedia error pop-up stating "A problem was detected with your application. Please reinstall software to correct the problem."
    So I reinstall.
    Same problem! Reinstallation does not fix.
    Also, I now have no sound with Quicktime. All other system sounds are fine, DVD player, sound applications like Peak. But Quicktime is silent.
    Lastly - my Quicktime Broadcaster is no longer working.
    Video is no longer appearing in the source preview. (although I can confirm that the camera is working when I click on options for "built in iSight." I DO see video in the "Video Adjustments" window.
    Futhermore, if I click on "broadcast" I get this error "Broadcaster Error - Can't Open Handler (-2004)
    Argghhh.
    Any suggestions for me?
    Thanks!

    I doubt it is corrupt you could try to delete it but that will probably cause a problem with QT. What is the turn of events that took you to the registry?
    This is a permissions issue. What account originally installed QT? Are you an administrator account? You need to take Full Control or Ownership of the item in the registry or QT with a administrator account. Whatever account you're using, now, either is not an administrator account or it is being denied permissions. At worse I would think you might have to create another administrator account to take ownership and full control. There are at least 2 on the computer now.

  • Can my system handle DVCProHD

    I am quoting on an new project, it might be shot on DVCProHD and they would like to finish in HD, the end result being a Blueray disc. I am hoping to use DVCProHD codec throughout the process.
    My main question is: Can my system handle this format?
    CPU: Dual 1.8 GHz PowerPC G5
    2 GB RDDR SDRAM
    Media Drives: SATA RAID (drives striped in pairs)
    I/O: AJA KONA LS
    I am hoping I don't need to upgrade to do this job, but I have not used DVCProHD with out down converting to SD. I have been using uncompressed SD 10 bit with out any problem.

    EVERYTHING is fine, but the I/O LS. That is a standard def card. If you want to view HD externally then you need an HD card and HD monitor.
    But the system specs are fine for DVCPRO HD. The requirements for that format aren't too bad.

  • Can i use Handle C with the LABVIEW FPGA module?

    Hi,
    Can i use Handle C with the LABVIEW FPGA module?  I am working with CompactRIO right now so, i want to know weather i can use Handle C with CompactRIO.Can i access FPGA in compactRIO independant of LABVIEW  means can i program it without using LABVIEW?
    regards,
    Vishnu.

    Hi Vishnu,
    Although we don't support Handel-C directly, it is possible to design your algorithms using 3rd party tools or system integrators and consume them from a top-level LabVIEW VI. The webcast at http://zone.ni.com/wv/app/doc/p/id/wv-268 shows an example of how you can use IP from C-based tools provided by Celoxica in the LabVIEW FPGA environment.

  • Can a servlet handle other than HTTP request..?

    I was asked this question in a interview. Can anyone clear me this.
    Can a servlet handle other than HTTP request..?
    If yes, please give me a working example.

    Can anyone guide me to achieve this.?
    Note: If anyone worked with servlet responding ftp request, please send me the code.
    Yes, a servlet can handle requests in other protocols
    like FTP.
    To achieve this, your Servlet ought to inherit from
    javax.servlet.GenericServlet or implement the
    javax.servlet.Servlet interface. To code the Servlet,
    you should have a working knowledge of ftp protocol.
    When your servlet extends
    javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet, it can process http
    requests only.
    Cheers,
    ram.

  • How can i use my smart TV as a second monitor for my Power mac (2010) via HDMI cable? i've made the connection but no options show in system prefs display.

    How can i use my smart TV as a second monitor for my Power mac (2010) via HDMI cable? i've made the connection but no options show in system prefs display.
    the computer:Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.9.5), 2 x 2.66 Ghz 6-Core intel Xeon
    the TV: LG Smart tv

    The Mac uses a highly-parameterized universal Driver for every display. The parameters are set at certain times when a query is sent to your display. The display MUST answer with its name and capabilities, or the screen stays dark. A TV set that is off or "not paying attention" because it is set to a different port when the query occurs will rarely answer, and so will often remain dark.
    You can use tools in the System Report to see whether your display has been detected at all. If it has, the report will look something like this, but its name will appear:
    The times when the query is sent are:
    • at Startup
    • at wake from sleep
    • when the Mac-end of the cable is inserted
    • when using the Option ( Detect Displays ) button in displays preferences

  • I want to remove the monitor from my 17" Macbook Pro 2008 to use as an external for my Macbook Pro 15" 2012. How can I convert lvds to Thunderbolt and power the monitor?

    I want to remove the monitor from my 17" Macbook Pro 2008 to use as an external for my Macbook Pro 15" 2012. How can I convert lvds to Thunderbolt and power the monitor?

    It's almost impossible.  The new iMacs have a Target Display Mode, but it's built to do that.  Without ripping your screen out, finding an acceptable power supply, frame, and whatever electronics to convert a Thunderbolt signal to the screen, the cost will be much larger than buying a cheaper HiDef monitor that runs with an HDMI to Thunderbolt cable to your MacBook 15.  In fact, you can sell your 17" MBP for a lot of money, unless it's broken or something, buying you a really sweet monitor.
    By the way, I found your answer by searching this forum.  I would suggest using the search function here in the futuere.

    Can I hook my iphone 5 to a touchscreen monitor and use the touchscreen feature of the monitor. Would I have to use the lighting to hdmi?

    The connection of the phone to the monitor would allow you to see, but does not have the ability to translate the touch on the monitor to the phone through that cable.

  • Can you WIRELESSLY connect a macbook pro to a monitor to have extra work space on a separate screen from your macbook? (not mirror, extra monitor/workspace)

    Can you WIRELESSLY connect a macbook pro to a monitor to have extra work space on a separate screen from your macbook? (not mirror, extra monitor/workspace)
    It needs to be wireless.
    I am not asking about mirroring, but as a second screen.
    Apple tv communties said the Apple tv cannot do this, but maybe another type device can?

    My thunderbolt port stopped working on my late 2011 MacBook Pro rendering my external monitor useless--or so I thought.
    Mac Genius suggested using the Apple TV via AirPlay Display as a $100 solution. Took me all of 6 minutes to figure this out as there are no directions in the Apple TV box supporting this. But, it does work and I am now back in business.
    PS. Don't set up with bluetooth--seems logical but you want to use AirPlay Display under Settings > Displays.
    Also, I originally thought my external monitor stopped working because I upgraded the OS. This time, it was definitely a hardware issue and not software. It also fixed a known sound issue my monitor had with Macs. First time in my 15 years I've ever had a ViewSonic have issues with an Apple product, too. Thanfully, it is now fixed.
    Hope this helps.
