Can my web files reside forever on my iDisk for editing?

Instead of the web files sitting on my HD and then 'published' to somewhere on my iDisk, can they not live there so I can access them from either of my two macs for editing purposes?
Ideally, the files would sit on my iDisk (perhaps at another location, under 'documents' and this was I dont depend on being at home in front of the iMac to edit my page, I can edit it from my MBP on the road simply by accesing my web files on my iDisk.
Possible?
thanks

Your iWeb data is stored, not in your actual published html files, but in a file called Domain.sites which is stored in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder. If you want to work on your site on another computer, copy this file to a thumb drive to move it around.
You should backup this file whenever you make big changes to your site, because if it gets lost or damaged, you will have to start all over. Sadly, many many people learn this the hard way.
I have an Automator app on my site that will help you backup your Domain file(s). Click here to download it or visit http://iweb.varkgirl.com for more info. The app will make a .zip file of your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and save it to a location of your choosing.
Then check out Mozy for an online place to store your backups - I just found this and it seems great. They just recently released a Mac friendly version of their app - it automates the upload and encryption. You select the files you want to backup and it does the rest. You can set it to upload automatically after so many minutes of inactivity or once a day. It does it all in the background so you don't have to worry about it! 2GB of storage are free - plenty of room for most people's iWeb Domain.sites backups!
Disclaimer: By clicking the aforementioned link to Mozy, which has my referral code in it, you earn yourself (and me) 256MB of extra storage space. If you don't want that to happen, just go directly to http://www.mozy.com and sign up that way. Either way, you will find a great service! :)

  • Once CC Apps Downloaded can the install file be copied to each mac for reinstall - have 5 to do?

    Exactly what heading suggests.
Once I have downloaded my apps from Creative Cloud for 1 mac, can the "installer" file/s be copied to other macs and simply be run from there for installing, rather than having to Download again for each Mac - very time consuming and puts a huge load on our Internet usage.
    Up for about a 4.5GB download x 5 macs - not good
    Gee, wish I had a disk for this . . .

Does this apply for a TEAM  license (which I have) or only the ENTERPRISE license.
Do you have a link for that page?

What is the way to convert AVID to FCPX so I can continue editing on FCPX?

Can you be more specific  FCP can create optimized footage in app after import for editing if that is what you need. If you need to literally covert it than running it through compressor should do the trick. Or you could download the avid codecs for your mac and maintain your original footage. http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/Download/en392959?popup=true

  • Can a web service be used as the datasource for a View Object?

Has anyone used a web service as the datasource for a View Object?
I am trying to do the same thing as "Publishing BC4J Components as a Web Service" example, except I want to recreate the View Objects on the client so that I can iterate through them and display them on a web page.
    I probably have two choices:
    1. Use the web service as the datasource.
    2. Use a file as the datasource with no data and then populate the View Objects from the XML from the Web Service.
    Please advise.
    Thank you.

You can adapt the examples provided in the BC4J Toy Store demo for how to build a programmatically-populated view object to create a view object that fetches its data from a web service.
The methods that you need to override are the same for any kind of programmatically-populated view object.

  • Can't open file from Numbers iWork08 in Numbers for Mac

I am unable to open Numbers files created in iWork08 (Numbers 1.0.3) in the new Numbers for Mac.  I keep getting a message that says I need to save the file in Numbers 09 first.  I don't have Numbers 09.  Is there a way to do this?  It doesn't seem right I would need to go back and buy Numbers 09 to save these files in the new Numbers for Mac app which I've already purchased.
    Thank you.

Lots of questions here, will see what I can add.
For the file problem go to preferences/file type associations.  You should have the option selected CS6 for the extenstion as the default.  Might try the radio button on the bottom first to set them to default settings.
If the 1.77g file you are refering to is the one you downloaded and used for installation you can delete it.  It is a wise choice to save it to a DVD first so in case you need it in the future you will have it.  Also save the serial number in safe place.  Acutally safe is not the right word, need to save in place where you can find it if you need it next year.  HD can fail.
There are still thrid party plug-ins that do not work in 64 bit mode, hence the 32 bit version.  Also there is no 64 bit TWAIN so some still like to use that for scanning.
Some users experience file association and other problems with an uninstall of past versions.  So it is safest to leave them be.
If you want to clean up a little resist the urge to move any Adobe programs once is is installed.  Can really foul it up.

  • Can't open PSD file to layers in Illustrator CS6 for editing?

I need to edit a Photoshop PSD file that has layers.
I believe vector lines can be edited in Photoshop but I only have PS Elements and can only edit the text.
I do have Illustrator CS6 but when I open the PSD file it will not open to separate layers, even if I choose this in the open options.
    Maybe Illustrator cannot do this?
    Can anyone advise please?
    Thank you,
    Mike.

Although I can export as PSD from Illustrator - will PS read the layered files though?
If you set up the file accordingly: yes.
You have to take special care of some stuff. Search for it on this forum or the manual. It has been discussed here.
    hemmickreef wrote:
    What about EPS?
Forget about EPS. And especially in this context.

    Can PS export as .ai?
Yes, but only clipping masks. And only simple paths.

  • Can I drag files to an external drive used for Time Machine to store them?

Is that possible without doing partition? if so, what's the difference (with partition and without)? I'm undecided on whether to partition or not. Thanks!

Sorry to chip in - I'm having a similar issue.
    Aaargh.
I want to delete about 8Gb worth of data from my internal HD on my iMac. Will I still have a copy in time machine?
For a while, until time machine runs out of space and deletes its copy.
Is timemachine then deleting them from the TM backup disk if they are gone from the internal HD.
    Eventually, yes.
I have done a similar thing as the OP and cut the 8Gb folder from my MacHD and pasted it into the external disk where TM is doing its backups.
Then you are wallowing in a state of sin.
    1. Should I leave it like that?
    No.
    or
    2. should I cut and paste it back into my MacHD, leave TM to do a few backups and then completely delete it from my MacHD?
Neither. If you want to keep it, keep it on your MacHD, if you want to delete it delete it. Leave the Time Machine disk the **** alone.
    Thanks
    Not at all.

  • Can you pull photos from Time Capsules into iPhoto for editing?

I just purchased a new Macbook Pro and Time Capsule.  What I want to do is keep all of my old pictures on the Time Capsule but be able to have them readily available in iPhoto.  Is that possible?  Basically ave them apear in iPhoto like they are native but in reality they are residing only on the Time Capsule.

There is great danger in doing this due to the slow disk access time on the Time Capsule.
If there is any break in communications between the iPhoto application on your Mac and the iPhoto library on the Time Capsule, the library can become easily corrupted, rendering it useless.
Simply stated, I would never do this. Please post in the iPhoto support area to confirm with the iPhoto experts.
If you decide to try this anyway, make sure that your Mac is connected to the Time Capsule using a wired Ethernet cable. Do not use wireless.
You will also have to figure out a way to back up your iPhoto library that is on the Time Capsule to yet another hard drive.
A better plan to consider would be this:
Add a USB or FireWire hard drive and connect it directly to your Mac.
Move the iPhoto library to the hard drive.
Then, Time Machine will be able to back up both your Mac and the attached hard drive to the Time Capsule. So, you have "originals" on one drive and backups on another.

  • I want to use my photos in alphabet templates.  Can I create or buy? I use CS2 for editing.

I wondered if it was possible to create alphabet letter templates with CS2 wherein I can use the template over my wildflower photos?  If this isn't possible, is there any digital photo template software available for this?

If I remember correctly CS2 was capable of clipping masks. Take a look at the properties of your layers panel and see if clipping masks is listed. On windows holding down the alt key while the cursor is between two layer would change the icon and once clicked with the mouse, a clipping mask is created.
Another option is look at the text tool and see if mask tools are listed there as well. By using the mask for text instead of text you can fill it with any image you choose by using the paste into command.

  • Where can I find a list of the keyboard shortcuts for editing a Wiki page, on Windows and Mac?

I tried searching in Help, but I haven't been able to find anything.  I'd like to get a list of the keyboard shortcuts that work while editing a wiki page in the Mac Server Wiki running on Lion.
When accessing Lion Server Wiki from a Mac, some of the usual suspects work: cmd+B for bold, cmd+} to indent, etc.  When accessing the Lion Server Wiki from Windows, though, I can't find an equivalent keyboard shortcut for the indent / unindent.  Where can I find a list of all of them?

  • Can't transfer files from mini mac (10.4) to new imac

While setting up my father's new imac, the imac suggested selecting send files "to your new computer" ,or something to that effect, from the Migration Assistant in the mini. The only options on the mini were to transfer files from another computer to the mini. The mini is running system 10.4.11
Do I need to upgrade to system 10.5 before I can transfer the files?

I have a dsic for 10.5; do you think it will help if I install it? How else can I update Migration assistant?
I do not have access to a Mac with 10.4 on it to test this. However, It certainly would not hurt to upgrade the OS, and it might help.
    Good luck.

HOW I CAN OPEN .VOB FILES FROM QUICK TIME TO CONVERT FOR IPOD VIDEO?

.VOB files are MPEG-2 format. QuickTime can't play them without the help of the MPEG-2 Playback Component ($20) and can't export the audio when "converting".
MPEG Streamclip 1.5.1 (free) can convert the audio and video to .mp4 format for iPod playback. It even has an iPod preset that changes all of the file settings to iPod specs.

    Tips:
    a. Settings- click to set video
    resolution(1920×1080/1440×1080/1280×720/720×480), bitrate (from 1Mbps to

  • Looking for a Web Interface for Editing Data in an Oracle 10g Database

    Greetings all!
My organization is implementing Oracle 10g Release 2 Enterprise version. We have an employee who will need to edit data in the database which will hold staff phone numbers, email addresses, and other contact information. This employee will never need to administer the database or develop tables, queries, etc. They will only need to add and remove rows of data and edit text values stored in a database table.
Does Oracle 10g have a built-in, browser-based tool that can be used to edit data in a table via a friendly user interface? If no, can you please recommend an easy to use tool for editing data in an Oracle database?
Thanks for any help you can provide!
    Rachel

    Justin,
Thanks very much for the tip!
Do you know if Oracle 10g has any kind of built-in tool for editing data? I have heard of "The Vault", but that appears to be a tool for administering database users, reports, etc. I am looking for some kind of tool that shows the data in a grid layout (like Microsoft Excel) and allows someone to edit and save data in that grid. A web-based tool would be best, but a desktop tool (especially if it's already part of Oracle 10g) would also be good.
    Thanks again,
    Rachel
