Can my wife and I merge our iTunes accounts?

It would make life a lot easier if my wife and I could merge our two iTunes accounts. Is this possible?

As Katrina notes, you cannot merge accounts. If by any chance what you really mean is to merge libraries, then yes you can. Find the songs on the hard drive and add them into the library that you will both be using.

  • How can my wife and I share our iTunes account?

My wife has an iTunes account as do I, but we are ideally trying to combine them so that we have a central iTunes library that we can both pull from. Is this possible?  We are on Windows Vista platform outside of our apple products.
We have 2 iPhones and several iPods.

  • Can my wife and I merge our accounts?

I recently got married and was wondering if there is a way to merge my itunes account with my wifes so that we dont both have to buy the same apps and music etc. but instead can share.  Or should we just axe one the accounts and share?  If we share do both phones have to have the same music and contacts and what not or could they still both just have the apps and music we each want?

You don't have to purchase twice. If you use the same user account on the computer and the same iTunes library, you can each sync your iPhones and just select what you want to be synched. ITunes will note and keep separate each of your iPhones. You just have to get all your content from each of your accounts into a single iTunes library and authorize iTunes to both of your iTunes Store accounts.
Or you can each have your own computer user account and separate iTunes libraries (which makes synching your iPhones a bit cleaner) and still share apps and music. If you don't mind duplicate copies, just either redownload them each to your own iTunes libraries, or copy the tracks and apps to each others account (there's usually some sort of "Shared" folder that all user accounts on the computer can access. You'll just need each other's iTunes Store account ID and password.
If you really don't want to have duplicates, post back and we can advise on that as well.
    Regards.

  • How can my wife and I combine our iTunes?

My wife and I have been dragging our feet and have finally broke down and want to have one iTunes to manage both of our music and sync our iPhones with.  However, I cannot figure out how to do this, without one of us just giving up our music that we have purchased through iTunes.  Please help!

Copy all of your music to one computer. Authorize it for all your accounts.  Purchase using one account from here on out.

  • Can my wife and I merge our songs and share them? I bought songs using my id that she loves and she bought songs using her id and we'd like to listen to all musics in all our 5 devices w/o having to buy them twice! We have 5 devices.

We have 5 devices: 2 iPnones, an iPad, a MacAir and an AppleTV and we'd like to listen to all our music in all devices from a singlr, unified list, w/o having to log off/ logon or buy half of the songs again.

Please describe your setup in more detail. Where is all the music stored now? How are you syncing?

  • Can my wife and I have separate iTunes accounts on one computer

I want put my iTunes on my wife's computer even though she has her own itunes

Yes. Use separate user accounts on the computer, or launch iTunes with the Shift(Windows) or Option(Mac OS X) key held down as needed.

How can my wife and I use our two iTunes accounts on one IPad

Unfortunately it will be difficult. iPads are personal devices like phones and done have credentials. You can of course log out of and into the app store to download purchased apps but the iPad will then have all the apps of both your wife and you (though you could put these into folders I guess).

You cannot merge two separate libraries across user accounts. Photos does not have the function of merging different Photos.library files. If you have Aperture then you can merge the two before migrating over to Photos.

  • How can my wife access all of our itunes music if she signs up for iTunes match, but her apple id is different than mine?

How can my wife access all of our iTunes music, even if she subscribes to iTunes Match, if her Apple ID is different than mine?

I do subscribe to iTunes Match.....and the music i am referring to is all of our downloaded albums and songs that are currently in iTunes and in the "cloud" on my iPhone and my iPad.
So if she uses my Apple ID for her iPhone, she can sign up for iTunes Match on my account?  Will any of my apps then transfer to her phone?  Or just the iTunes "data"?

Make groups of contacts in your Address Book and select the option to sync only selected groups to each phone.

  • My wife and I share an iTunes account. Is there any way to set up a seperate one for her to sync her phone contacts, iCloud and music to without having to purchase all her music again and then share going forward?

My wife and I share an iTunes account. Is there any way to set up a seperate one for her to sync her phone contacts, iCloud and music to without having to purchase all her music again and then share going forward?
It would be so much easier having seperate accounts but we have hundreds of her purchased songs on my account and she would need to be able to access these from her account. Possible?
Also, if we bought a song in future we would want to be able to both have access to it.
Alternatively, what is the easy way to sync two distinctly different contact lists to one iTunes account?
    Thank you in advance.

FYI: iTunes account (used to make purchases) is not the same as iTunes library (iTunes on your computer with music, movies, etc.).
    ecbclb wrote:
Will we have to create a seperate account for her, or can we all have the same one?
You can but you will not be able to limit what she syncs.
I would like to avoid 'checking' and 'unchecking' individual songs every time one of us tries to synch our ipods to the library.
I don't recommend using (only) the checkmarks to select what to sync.
Each of you can create your own playlists then sync only those playlists.
Then add/delete from your own playlists to change iPod content.
The only time I uncheck items is if I rarely/never want to sync them to anything, such as Christmas music or old audiobooks.
I suggest you each have your own computer login account. Then everyone has their own contacts, calendars, and everything else.
You and your husband can share an iTunes library and let your daughter have her own.
