Can new shockwave Player 12.0.4.144 run shockwaved Authorware files on Mac

Can new shockwave Player 12.0.4.144 run shockwaved Authorware files on Mac?
OS 10.5 or greater.
If so, please direct me to were I can learn how to do it, and if not, is there any way to run these files for Macs?

The Director Shockwave Player can't play published Authorware content. You'd need the Authorware Web Player. However, it works on older Mac OSs.
You can find the player links at:

Some of the less popular formats, such as JPEG2000 and EPS have since been dropped, but standard JPEGS, TIFFS, PSD, GIF, PNG, BMP, PDF should all open in PSE12. There is a free plug-in if you do have JPEG2000 files that you want to open.

A .exe file is a Windows executable. OS X does not run Windows programs. If you need to use .exe files then you will need to install Windows on your Mac:
    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7.  Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
VM Fusionand Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

  • I just switched from an HP laptop to a MacAir. I am trying to view videos from within my power points. These were played on Adobe player and shockwave player. Is it safe to install that on a Mac? If not how can I play these?

I just switched from an HP laptop to a MacAir laptop. I had previously developed a number of powerpoints in which i have video links that require adobe shockwave player. I can no longer play them on the MacAir. Is it safe to download the Adobe player? If not how can I play these videos now?

Adobe players are safe.  Go to adobe.com and their site should detect the latest version for your hardware.

  • Old "Shockwave Player Download Center" url still works (Shockwave v10)

This URL still works for download Shockwave 10.x:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=Shockwave%3fLang=Span ish&P5_Language=Spanish
It should be redirected to the new download center.

I contacted PSIRT again about the version number and this is their answer:
Thank you again for contacting us.
The MSI version will remain 11.5.10.620 due to limitations in MSI versioning. Reasons include requirements of a higher patch version (9 to 10) from the previous MSI 11.5.9.615, the MSI upgrade is required (otherwise users will have to uninstall Shockwave and then re-install again), and the 11.5.10.620 version will be shown only in Add/Remove Programs and Run-Advertised programs in case of SMS installation. This being said, the files installed using the MSI will have version 11.5.9.620, which is the same as other Shockwave installers. Plus, the version # in the registry will appear as 1159620 for all Shockwave installers (this also includes the MSI installer). The right registry key to look for the current Shockwave version is 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Shockwave 11\currentupdateversion'.
We hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have additional questions.

  • Can anyone shed some light on how to run window based application on mac air?  I must run Meta Trader 4 platform and MS Office.

    Hello,
Can anyone please shed some light on how I can run MS Office and Meta Trader 4 platform on mac air.  I have been using Play on Mac and Wine for the past couple of weeks, but now suddenly it has stopped working, only crashing and giving me nightmares.  Is it juts best to install the latest Windows or Parallel?
    Regards Joe

Meta Trader 4 is Windows only - Office is available for the Mac and Windows and are mostly compatible but given that you'll be doing online trading you may prefer the Windows version of Excel since there are financial spreadsheets with macros that only run on the Mac with some significant editing.
You can install Windows 7 or 8 in BootCamp or any version of Windows usting virtualization. VMWare and Parallels are commercial programs and VirtualBox is open source. VB may be all you need. Whatever solution you choose, you'll need a commercial version of Windows (or get an OEM disc from NewEgg).

  • Shockwave Player Backward Compatibility

Overview: Our Web Application uses Shockwave player to play DCR movies. At the end of the Movie, an event is raised by DCR movie which will be captured by VB Script functions in webpage. This event will be used to identify if the Movie has completed. This is very crustal information for our Application.
We have been using this method to capture the Movie end events in our application for over a decade.
    Issue:
In the latest version of Shockwave Player  V 12.0.7.148,  VBScript is not able to capture the DCR movie end event in Internet Explorer 9 and 10 Compatibility mode.
If we use Shockwave Player V12.0.4.144 , VB Script is able to capture the DCR movie end event in IE 9 and 10 Compatibility mode.
    Details:
The following “Lingo Script” is placed at the end of the page (Director Movie), which will generate an external event and can be captured by JavaScript (for getting the page completion status).
    on exitFrame me
    externalevent("")
    end
In our Web Application, the following “VB Script” is used to capture the external event passed in the Director Movie.
         <script language="vbscript">
              Sub LessonPage_externalEvent(str)
                  Call UpdateReviewStatus()
              End Sub
      </script>
    HTML:

    <embed src="path" width="800" height="600"  type="application/x-director" PlayerVersion="11" swLiveconnect="True" swStretchStyle="meet" />
    </object>
Above code was working with Shockwave Player V 12.0.5.146.We have been using above code for over a decade without any issue.
But same code is not working on Shockwave Player V12.0.7.148
We understand that above lingo script will not work on Chrome and Firefox.
All our tutorials are developed using Director 8.x

I don't know what is causing that problem; try if it is still happening with the current Shockwave Player version 12.0.9.149.
If yes, I would recommend to file a bug report at https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform

  • Shockwave player v12 on mac has stopped Director player from working. Why?

Hello. I'm a very longstanding Adobe user, but a complete newcomer to the forum.
My problem? We have a suite of e-learning courses which are built in Flash, but which use a Director player (11.5) to launch them from CD-Rom. The new release of shockwave player (version 12) has stopped our courses working on a mac. We tried rebuilding the player file with Director 12, but this didn't resolve the problem. Can anyone help? Thanks.

    Hi
We are in the same case. Since 1999, we have also built an e-learning suite on CD with Director 5 to 11.5 for Mac and Windows. And now, we have some problems with Shockwave 12 on OSx 10.7.
On Windows 8, there was already an error with shokwave: " L'ordinal 1265 est introuvable dans la bibliothèque de liaisons dynamique IML32.dll "
. It was enough to delete two files: « IML32.DLL » et « DIRAPI.DLL ». See on Adobe site :
    http://www.macromedia.com/fr/support/director/ts/documents/sw10_restart.htm
Per haps, its the same case. We look for a solution...
    Best regards

  • Can new and old QT players co-exist?

I was very disappointed to find that the new QT player in Mavericks no longer plays my DV files natively. i.e. It converts them to ".mov" files on the fly before playing them.
This is a pain for me because I have TONS of DV files - most at least 500 Mb and many 10Gb or more, so they take a really long time to convert.
I do note however that after conversion the file size decreases by a factor of about 5, so I'd like to keep it around - however, I'd also like to keep an older version of QT (player) at hand and set it is the default player for .dv files just so I can quickly browse these .dv files without having to convert them.
Can older versions of QT like the one referenced here (ver 7),  http://support.apple.com/kb/DL923 , co-exist with the later, Mavericks version?
Also - lets say I did allow the new QT to convert all my .DV files to .MOV ones. Technically, will this make much difference when using them as source material in iMovie (then burning to DVD)? I did an experiment and didn't notice much difference, but at the same time I don't want to take chances with the quality of my archives or the resultant iMovie output given that the original files would have gone through an extra conversion process. Any thoughts on this appreciated...
    Thanks

I was very disappointed to find that the new QT player in Mavericks no longer plays my DV files natively. i.e. It converts them to ".mov" files on the fly before playing them.
Only DV stream files (DV/DV) are converted. DV/PCM MOV files are not converted.
I do note however that after conversion the file size decreases by a factor of about 5, so I'd like to keep it around - however, I'd also like to keep an older version of QT (player) at hand and set it is the default player for .dv files just so I can quickly browse these .dv files without having to convert them.
The conversion changes the DV/DV content to H.264/AAC—newer, more efficient compression formats having lower data rates.
Can older versions of QT like the one referenced here (ver 7),  http://support.apple.com/kb/DL923 , co-exist with the later, Mavericks version?
Yes. The older QT 7 Player is stored in the "Utilities" folder. Be sure to leave it there.
Not in the sense that both formats are edit compatible in the various QT based editing apps. However, the more times you transcode the data the more likely the data will degrade. If you let the DV stream file convert to H.264/AAC and edit it in iMovie, then iMovie will re-transcode iMovie project again to H.264/AAC and iDVD will transcode it again to muxed MPEG-2/PCM for burning to DVD—a total of three conversions. On the other hand, if you edit the files as DV, then they are only transcoded twice—once to H/264/AAC and a second time to muxed MPEG-2/PCM.

  • Installing Shockwave player on Windows x64 for IE9 x64

My computer is running Windows 7 Home Premium x64.
I have upgraded my (32-bit) Shockwave player to version 12.1.3r153, and it appears to be working for IE9 32-bit, and Firefox 28 (32-bit).
I was fairly certain that in the past, I had downloaded and installed a 64-bit Shockwave player for a previous version of Shockwave, but I can't be 100% sure of that.
I'm trying to upgrade/install Shockwave player 12 (64-bit) on this computer for use with IE9 64-bit, but I cannot find the Shockwave 12 64-bit install package download. It appears that there is not a 64-bit version of Shockwave player 12 available.
    Where can I download a 64-bit version of Shockwave 12 for Windows 7 x64?
If this is not available, have they abandoned 64-bit for Shockwave?
Is there an older (but fairly recent) version of Shockwave available in a 64-bit version?

There has never been a 64 bit version of Shockwave. You are perhaps confusing it with the Flash Player which does have a 64  bit version

  • In PowerPoint I Have Shockwave ActiveX Control - How do I Get Shockwave Flash Object?

I'm running the latest versions of Windows 7 and PowerPoint via Parallels on my Mac. I want to insert a Flash movie into a PowerPoint slide. The instructions I've found tell me to look in Developer section->More Controls, find Shockwave Flash Object, use it to insert a Flash Object, and then to edit the Movie property of that object. But, I do not see Shockwave Flash Object. Instead I see Shockwave ActiveX Control. The properties of Shockwave ActiveX Control do not include a Movie property.
I have gone to "http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/" and clicked the option to install the Shockwave Player, but the site says the Shockwave Player is already installed.
How can I get the Shockwave Flash Object for PowerPoint into my installation?
Thanks very much in advance to all for any info.

Hi Vik..  I don't use Powerpoint but I do know about Shockwave Flash Object. It is in the manage add ons and installs when Flash Player is installed. It is an ActiveX Control and if you have the latest FP installed, Flash10d.ocx should be listed on the same line. It may or may not list the version #, which would be 10.0.42.34. It must be enabled.
Beyond that info I could give you a link to a thread that involved powerpoint 2003 and 2007 if you think that would be of
    any help to you.
    Just post back.
    Thanks
