Can no longer assign relationships to contacts...???

used to, but no longer can for whatever reason.  i lost all my contact info, but have since synced and brought them all back in.
i have 4s/5.1.  the relationship field is no longer avail when editing contacts.  if i ask siri, she will say sorry, but she cant.
any ideas?   thanks!!!

This doesn't help me. I don't see the relationship status I'm trying to remove. I see the person's work and their title, but I don't see "sister" or "girlfriend" or "my accountant", which are the relationships I assigned.
Why did Apple remove this function from Siri and make it so hard to update relationships? That was actually THE function that sold me on iPhone over Android.

  • Using Office 2011 on a new Mac. Now I can no longer access my entire contact list clicking TO/CC/BCC.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am using Office 2011 on a new Mac.  I can no longer access my entire contact list when clicking TO/CC/BCC to select several contacts for sending an email. I am so surprised & disappointed at the many difficulties, conflicts, & lack of features on the Mac (Lion 10.7).

    Hello,
Are you using Apple Mail or MS Office Outlook for your email program?  It has been a know issue for some time now that MS Office 2011 Outlook does not sync contacts with Apple's Address Book.   This was true under Snow Leopard as well as in Lion.   It worked well when I had Entourage (MS Office 2008) in Snow Leopard but once I switched to Outlook 2011, the sync stopped.
Did you just start using Outlook 2011 or has this happened after you move to Lion?  Perhaps you could import your Entourage contacts into Outlook 2011?
Please let us know a bit more about your situation.

  • Since I updated to iTunes 11.0, I can no longer manage my photos, contacts!  When I sync my phone or iPad back to my computer the info is there, but I can't organize to sync the folders that I want on my iPad and iPhone.  What do I do.

I can no longer organize anything in iTunes but music since upgrading to 11.0.  My photos are caught in limbo, I can sync and all end up on my computer as it should.  However, there is no way to send back to the iPad the proper folders for customers it s all in the camera roll.  Contacts are array.  What do I do.

Removed. Re-synced. Still not working. Factory reset the phone, re-installed music... made a GIANT "Other" file instead of actually adding any songs.
Factory resetting again. Any other solutions?
EDIT: If It helps, I'm doing this all over USB connection, not trying to sync music through wifi or anything.

  • Since I have synced my contacts with Hotmail, I can no longer use relationships. How can I get this back without having to set up another email account?

I am currently using Hotmail with syncing enabled for mail and contacts. However, I cannot find or add the fields for family members or any relationship other than manager and assistant. I cannot add the fields manually, nor can I get Siri to assign the proper relationship to the right person (everyone defaults to manager or assistant).
I'd really prefer not to have to use a different email address just to be able to use the phone; however, up until I synced the accounts I was able to edit relationships. Can anyone help me out?

This is a limit with an Exchange account.

  • Once Siri remembers a relative, Siri can no longer find them in contacts.

At first I was impressed with Siri, since it immediately knew who my Mother was.  But after I said yes to Siri's question, "Do you want me to remember Ms. so and so is your Mother?" All that was impressive went to annoyance.  Now, everytime I ask for Siri to call my Mother, I get told that Ms. so and so cannot be found in my contacts!  Yet it must be finding it, since it knows my Mother's name.  If I remove from my contact that Ms. so and so is my Mother, Siri works again.  But asks again, "Do you want me to remember Ms. so and so is your Mother?"  If I ever answer yes, Siri stops being able to find my Mother.  If I answer No, Siri works fine.
How can I get Siri to remember my Mother and to know which contact is hers?  Or, can I get Siri to stop asking me, "Do you want me to remember Ms. so and so is your Mother?"
I also noted that I had "Mother" under nickname in my Mother's contact.  I have removed and added it, doesn't seem to make a difference.  The only difference seems to be the related link in her contact.

    Hi.
Thanks for the reply but that isn't the solution in this case.
This issue is due to prefixes and suffixes in the contact data. They seem to confuse Siri, so I hope a fix is on the way soon. In the meantime, the workaround is to delete all the Mr/Mrs/Miss/Dr or Snr/Jnr etc. references in your contact data.
Siri will now work fine... unless you have two contacts with the same name and were relying on the Snr/Jnr suffix to differentiate. In that case you need to assign at least one of them a nickname and use that when using Siri.
In my case, after deleting the prefixes and suffixes, I have the same name as my father. Although Siri correctly identifies the contact that is my father and gives him the "Dad" nickname, it puts his full name in the Father field on my contact record. Whenever I ask for details regarding my father, Siri recovers my data instead, this was fixed by editing the Father field in my contact to say "Dad" rather than his full name.

  • I can no longer sync with Google Contacts

I have been using google for 2 years and from the beginning have synced iPhone contacts with my google account.  I just discovered that the synch stopped working.  Initially, I thought it was due to changing google password.  I tried to update iTunes sync with my current google password under the info menu.  But it won't accept the change. Every time I enter my credentials and click enter, the window reopens prompting to re-enter the credentials.  It is like an endless loop.  Why won't it accept the credentials?  I know for absolute certain that I am entering the correct credentials because I use my google account all day for work on my PC, other PC's, and my phone.
I tried a phone reset with no luck.  I assume the problem is in iTunes because that is where the contact synch is configured.

Are you trying to set up your Gmail account as an Exchange account? If so, you need to know that Google no longer supports that service for free Gmail accounts. See this article for how to sync your contacts:

If it's a question of unlocking the account for that device, try this page:

  • Delegate can no longer search for bosses contacts

We recently had an assistant lost the ability to search through her bosses contacts.  She can click on the contacts in Outlook 2010 and browse them just fine.  When she enters a contact name in the search field when her bosses contacts are highlighted
it only searches the delegates contacts.  Something has changed and I can't figure it out.  We are using Exchange 2003.  She claims this has worked before.
She can create contacts so the permissions are untouched.  Something I am missing here.

I can answer one, its cached mode.  What search settings?
It worked recently, like a week ago.
    Hi,
Please follow Willard's suggestion to check the Indexing Option settings and confirm if the issue happens in Online mode. If the issue persists in Online mode and folder permission is checked to be configured correctly in the Boss's side, please start
Outlook in safe mode to have a try:
Click Start > Run, type Outlook /safe, then click OK to restart Outlook.
If the contact searching works well in Outlook safe mode, please check the Add-ins and disable any third-party one in cached mode for troubleshooting.

  • Since upgrading to iOS 5 I can no longer add/edit email accounts

    Hello All,
I am completly stumped here, Since Upgrading to iOS 5 on my ipad 2 I can no longer access the "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" tab in settings, meaning I can't add my other mail accounts or change settings, and I'm needing to sort this now.
Basically Going into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars results in crash to home, I've rebooted, hard reset and returned to factory settings, non of it seems to remedy it, does anyone know of this bug? or does anyone know a work around etc?, I've had a look around altho there are many Mail issues non seem to directly relate to my issue.
    Kind Regards
    Fish.

I recommend taking it into the store.  Sounds to me like you have downloaded an app that has allowed itself to become the "primary" when sending and recieving images....  Apple is seriously dropping the ball!!  Just the other day, I downloaded an app called v-downloader...  Its an app that allows you to download videos through a 3rd party browser.  Well what it did, was automatically place restrictions on my phone...  I couldnt send pics, and it removed access to safari, facetime, messages, etc... so maybe try removing any recent app purchases.  Also, I would reccomend that you restore your phone.  it will redo the update off your computer and come through with less glitches
But I agree, iOS6 has been nothing but problems... I plan on removing the update when I get home

  • Sync Services eliminated from Mavericks - can no longer sync contacts

I clearly made a big error updating to Mavericks. I only discovered after the installation that Mavericks no longer supports Sync Services, which was critical to my ability to sync my personal contacts and calendars to all of my devices. In the absence of restoring my computer back to Mountain Lion, I am wondering whether there is anything I can do, but I fear the incompatibilities are too great to surmount.
My work email, contacts, and calendar are on a 2003 Microsoft Exchange server, and I have no power to change that. That apparently means that the only Mac email client I can use to sync my work contacts and calendar is Microsoft Entourage 2008. (The email is less of a problem, as I believe I could access it through IMAP.) I had also been using Entourage for many years for my personal email, contacts, and calendar, so it has been nice having everything centralized in one program. To sync my personal contacts and calendar, I was using Sync Services to sync everything first with Apple's Address Book and iCal/Calendar, and then those were synced with my online Google account to serve the rest of my devices.
I had everything set up, as described above, to conveniently sync everything in all directions. Then came Mavericks and the unexpected loss of Sync Services. Now, Entourage 2008 is completely isolated from the outside world with regard to contacts and calendar events, and I believe the same would be true of the newer Outlook 2011. (I never even bothered to upgrade to Outlook 2011, because it apparently is not compatible with 2003 Exchange Server, so it would not have functioned with my work contacts and calendar.) Apple Mail is also apparently not compatible with 2003 Exchange Server. I tried DAVMail to serve as an intermediary to no avail.
Then, I thought, well, perhaps I could continue to use Entourage 2008 for work email, contacts, and calendar, and switch to Apple Mail, Address Book, and Calendar for my personal email, contacts, and calendar. That is not particularly convenient, but perhaps it would not be too bad. However, I cannot figure out how to transfer my hundreds of calendar events from Entourage 2008 to Apple Calendar. There is an "Import from Entourage" function in the Calendar program, but nothing ever gets imported. It will launch Entourage, if Entourage is not already running, and it will crash Entourage sometimes, but nothing ever gets imported.
I can also export my calendar events from Entourage in RGE format (some sort of archive format), and I could probably also get them into Outlook 2011 and then export them in OLM format. However, Calendar cannot handle either of those either. I am also not particularly impressed with the functionality of Calendar relative to Entourage/Outlook's calendar system.
So, now I am wondering whether my best option is to restore my computer to Mountain Lion and hope that my work will eventually change to a 2007 or newer version of Exchange Server. It seems that there are a lot more syncing options on the Windows side of things, as well, so I am thinking my next computer is going to be Windows, and I am due for a new one soon.

I restored to 10.8.5 using Time Machine. However, Time Machine immediately seemed to get confused and tried backing up my entire entire hard drive, even though I had just restored it and nothing had changed. This process went on for like six hours, and I was afraid to interrupt it. In the end, it failed, because the backup drive was too full. But it kept trying unsuccessfully to backup the whole thing, and I could not figure out a way to make it stop! Eventually, I had to reformat the backup drive and start over with a new backup, which took another eight hours.
I am going to buy a new computer in the next few months, because my current Mac is over five years old, but I will likely switch to Windows after 20 years of using a Mac at home. It saddens me a bit, and I know that my sync problem with Entourage/Outlook is probably mostly the fault of Microsoft. However, I must have compatibility with my system at work, and the simple fact is that is not possible on the Mac without jumping through hoops.
In addition, Apple presented Mavericks as a free upgrade in the App Store and promoted all of its alleged new features, but they did not list the things that had been removed (including the Sync Services functionality on which I depended). Given the widespread usage of Office for Mac, I would think it might have been good for them to reveal that broken functionality more prominently. Then, of course, there was the fiasco of trying to restore things back with Time Machine.
    Sigh....

  • UPgraded to Lion and can now longer access all my Entourage Contacts and Mail. What do I do. Desperate

All my mail , contacts can no longer be opened as Entourage is a PPC app.
What do I do to recover contacts and migrate to Apple mail.
Would really appreciate help. Very important to me

Download the 30 day trial of Office 2011 from Microsoft. You'll be able to open all your stuff from the antiquated version of Office and then move the info to Apple Mail.

Hopefully your original user account was an "administrator". I have two admin accts in case one admin. acct gets "trashed.
Lets see what other forum members offer: my solution requires use of terminal and works. CLI (Command Line Interface) might be intimidating for you but we'll see what others possibly offer.
As I say the solution I have works well and will allow you to create new user(s) replacing your former users whatever type they were. I promise to check back today if no solution to you is offered...
