Can no longer convert mp3's to audiobook in 11.4. The option is still there, but it will no longer work.
Please help!

Well I figured it out. Turns out if you go to Sync(little down arrow)>DEVICE_NAME>Advanced Options>Quality if you leave it on automatic it will transfer wav files, but if you change it (I did without knowing) then the highest quality you're going to get is 92 WMA.

I reinstalled I-Tunes several weeks ago. I can no longer burn MP3 Disk with Song/Artist info onto disc. It comes up as No Artist/No Title on car CD unit. Old MP3 Disk previously recorded still show all info. Sometimes only every 3rd song is on the MP3 CD. On Audio Disc there is no change and all info still shows up. The new I-Tunes version has the "cloud" on it if that could make a difference. In the select Burn CD mode I can select testing and add song info for Audio Disk but it shows shadowed out for MP3/Data. I added and removed ID tagging from my list to see if that made a difference but it didn't.
Any Thoughts?

This may help. Audio files are actaully in the DATA folder. These can be editted with Soundbooth then they must be imported intot the specific slide in the Powerpoint presentation. Publish the presentation (as you'll read below) and *should* work This reply came from robva65 [email protected]
Let's try this: *Publish* the PPT deck you have. What you'll end up with is a set of files and folders, but I want you to look for the *data folder* that's created as a result of the publishing process. (Unless you specify where you're publishing to, Presenter will publish to a directory called "My Adobe Presentations" by default, so you may have to look there on your harddrive) Inside the data folder will be a list of mp3 files, which, if everything goes smoothly, should make it much, much easier to see which audio is used by a specific slide.
Here's what I mean: for example, after publishing, I have a data folder and inside I found the following file: a24x9x3.mp3 As I double click the mp3 file (which causes it to play using Windows Media on my laptop), I can hear that it corresponds to my slide 9 in my PPT deck. And there's corresponding mp3 files for each and every slide I have in my deck. I'm clicking another file (wouldn't it be nice to see what I'm doing???) a24x20x3.mp3, and that file corresponds to my slide 20 content in PowerPoint.
So again, give publishing in PowerPoint a shot and see if that makes it any easier. Well...not nearly as easy as recording in Audition/Soundbooth/Audacity, but it's close enough to hopefully dig you out of that hole you're in now.

Firefox doesn't have a site where you can download anything to let alone music or video files.

With new iTunes 12, I can no longer convert a voice memo to an mp3 file type

Prior to the update to iTunes 12, I was easily able to convert a voice memo to an mp3 or mpeg audio file.
With iTunes 12, if you select Create New Version, mp3 is grayed out.
They changed it.
Help!

I changed Preferences>General>Import Settings to mp3 and this gave me the option to encode existing wav files to mp3. Hope this helps.

iTunes can still convert to MP3, but the procedure has changed slightly due to the elimination of the Advanced menu in iTunes 11. Here are the updated instructions:

Can no longer drag MP3 from PC to iTunes on Mac

I've previously purchased/downloaded hundreds of songs in MP3 format on my PC and have not had a problem dragging them into iTunes over the network. Yesterday I upgraded Firefox to 3.0.1 on both computers and the songs I subsequently downloaded will not drag into iTunes. Actually a couple will. I don't see any difference in the information listed for any of the tracks that is different than those previous. If I try to import them from the "file" drop-down menu in iTunes I am told I "do not have enough access privileges for this operation." I'm using iTunes 7.6.2.
Any thoughts?

On PC, I dragged an offending folder into a folder that could, and still can be, dragged across the network on Mac. Did so, and it worked. "Pushing" from the PC also worked. So I've got the tunes across.
However, I'd still like to know why I don't have sufficient privileges to execute the task as I have previously. I'm logged in as Admin. on both. One thing I have noticed though, when I click on the PC in the finder I'm connected as "Guest." When clicking on "Connect as" checking "Registered User" and entering my name and password I'm still connected as "Guest." Maybe if I could connect as "Reg. User" I may have sufficient privileges. Nevertheless, I was connected as guest when it used to work.
Maybe I should address this ultimately in a networking forum.

Can no longer convert DOC to PDF

I've been using Acrobat 6 Pro for years to convert Microsoft Word (2003) DOCs to PDFs. After a power failure, some of my Adobe products had to be repaired and re-registered. On the other side of this procedure, I seem to have lost the conversion function. When I click the right mouse button over a DOC file I still get an option of converting the file, but nothing happens. How can I restore this function? (my Acrobat 6 Pro was part of the Adobe Creative Suite Premium package).

But can you print to the Adobe PDF printer? Please check. This is the base of all the conversions in Acrobat and if it does not work, none of them work. If it works, then you need to check for the Adobe icons (toolbar) in WORD to be active. It has to be active to be able to use PDF Maker. But again, the basic process is really the printer and should be the first thing you check.

Can't convert mp3s to AAC anymore?

I just updated my iTunes to the latest version. Now for some reason I can no longer convert my mp3s to Apple Lossless AAC. Is it just me?

Where are you looking for the command to convert? Highlight the songs you want to convert and go to the Advanced menu at the top of your iTunes window and choose "Create Apple Lossless version": iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format
By the way, why are you creating Lossless versions of MP3s? You do realise that MP3 is a lossy format and information is discarded when the MP3 is created, changing that to a lossless format doesn't add any information back into the file, you just end up with a larger file of the same quality.

Apparently, security programs like Macafee and Norton view Itunes updates as new programs and block then from access. If you add Itunes to the list of exemptions, it solves the problem.

Snow Leopard is required if you wanted to upgrade to Lion, anyway, which you may want to in the future if the latest version of iTunes no longer supports Snow Leopard.

Can no longer simultaneously stream an mp3 in Safari when using fast user switching option.

After updating to ios 5, I can no longer stream an mp3 in Safari when I use the fast user switching option. For instance, if you are listening to streaming content in a Safari tab and want to reference another app as soon as you switch from the Safari stream pauses.
This was not the case with previous versions of ios. Any ideas on a work around to restore this functionality to keep Safarr streaming content in the background?

User switching problems is the very first thing I noticed with SL. I have a host of other problems with SL but this is one of the most frustrating. The user switching did not work on 10.6 very well either but was wicked fast in 10.5.x
Apple rewrote the Kernel so this type of thing is expected, still the test crew missed this very noticable problem. Hopefully 10.6.2 has a fix.

Can no longer transfer audiobooks from overdrive to ipod nano 6. Diagnostics: Connectivity test-ipod found. Sync test -ipod not found. This problem began about 2 weeks ago. I downloaded itunes update 12.1.0.71 about 1 week ago. I'm on Windows 7.

Do you mean a playlist created by Overdrive?
I downloaded the newest version of ODM yesterday. Couldn't do it from within the application, had to uninstall/reinstall it. Here's what's happening now with WMA, which is my preferred format:
-Instead of just moving the audiobook and cover graphic and all that over as in the past, now ODM creates a separate playlist under 'Books' in your device. Problem is, only some (seemingly random) tracks go over there. The others just show up under 'Books' but not in the specified playlist, so you have to drag them over in iTunes.
-If you stop listening, it starts over from the beginning next time you're ready to resume, so if you expect to find your place again right away like in the good old days, think again.
-For me the WORST PART is only so much data of that sort is permitted under 'Books' so it seems, because after a certain threshold the transferred parts of books become greyed out and cannot be played. You are limited to far less data in a period of time than previously. I used to be able to keep several books on my device at once and listen to multiple things depending on my mood etc. Now I can fit about 2-3 big books, or 4-6 smaller ones, MUCH less than previously was possible, which is a problem if you've waited for a popular title at the library that you don't have the room for (even though you have plenty of memory in the device).
All in all, I think ODM need to get their act together. We should not allow them to think they are done with this upgrade, the fixes might be okay for temporary, but they are unacceptable for a permanent format. They have a phone number on their website. I left a message. Others have been tweeting them too, not sure of the contact info.

I'm using GB '08 on OSX 10.4.11 w/ a G4 MDD. ( Sorry folks, This is the setup that I have and cannot buy a new computer or software at this time)
I'm pretty new too DAW and all of this but want to compose music with traditional orchestra sounds as well as what GB offers.
I have found Muse Score and I can get some pretty good results for writing but I want to expand the software instrument voices that GB has.

and they have some pretty good sounding software instruments for free, except that they are in mp3 format.
I did some reading and see that GB understands a different format for this. I put some of the sounds into the correct GB folder as a test and result is of course no go. I see that GB uses exs and cst files in addition to wav and aff files.
How do I convert mp3 software instrument samples to the formats garageband can use? Is there a way? What would I need to do this?

The first step would probably be to convert the samples into AIFF files, that's what GB's sample files are in.
But so far that's only a collection of samples - what you need is a sampler file that tells the software which sample to trigger with which key (the .exs files in GB's instrument library).
Since your software is old, t works pretty well with soundfonts (the latest versions have problems), so you might try this software to create them:
